J.R.'s Family Bar-B-Q

Welcome To Our New Website

Greetings to everyone from under the black, 200X Resistol hat from your BBQ loving, OU Sooner supporting, WWE Monday Night Raw broadcasting, Okie. And damn proud of, it by the way! I hope you are going to make our website one of your “favorites” (that’s hip, internet lingo) as we will not only encourage you to buy some of our “soon to be famous” sauces and “J.R.’s Family BBQ” merchandise but we will also be sharing our thoughts on a variety of topics here a few times a week and hopefully interacting with you on a regular basis. My family and I are attempting to fulfill a life long dream and are developing a BBQ Restaurant concept with the legendary restaurateur Hal Smith of Charleston’s, Mahogany, Louie’s, Boomerang, and the Red Rock Canyon Grill fame that we hope to locate in or near Norman. This concept is still on the drawing board as it relates to a brick and mortar structure but our catering business is up and running and we will be selling “Q” out of our trailer/smoker on OU football home game days and will be located at the north end of the stadium. Check out this site for more info on how we can cater your next cookout, tailgate party, etc and where our trailer will be set up during the week for delicious, smoked meats and fixing’s on the run. It’s all done low and slow and you will definitely be able to taste the difference. As the voice of the top rated TV program on all of basic cable, WWE’s Monday Night RAW, my travels to a different city every week 51 weeks a year often produces some experiences you have to live to believe. I will be sharing many of those stories and WWE thoughts and personal opinion on this space. I will also be answering questions from WWE fans and wrestling fans in general drawing on my 30 plus years in the crazy and often time’s unpredictable world of wrestling. My career in wrestling has been sort of a “North Dallas Forty meets Major League” scenario which has taken me a long way from my boyhood home of Westville, Oklahoma to all parts of our globe. Being a die hard football fan, especially as many of you know, a Sooner fanatic, we will cover football here, too. I am not shy about offering my opinions of college football or the NFL for that matter. As a native Oklahoman, I am not an OSU or Tulsa “hater” by any means (you notice I did not include the Longhorns in this scenario) and we will address those university’s football season as well. Being a former broadcaster on NBC for the XFL (remember that one year wonder?) and for the Atlanta Falcons, I follow football closely and love to discuss it. Sometimes I see things in the news that I feel needs to be addressed. My views will not be concealed in gray matter. I am not advocating that they will always be popular, or correct, but they will be clearly defined and will be my opinion, for better or for worse. So hopefully this site will be a fun stop for you to visit on a regular basis. If you are a sports fan in general, an OU, OSU, or TU fan, a lover of great BBQ, a WWE fanatic, or simply just have too much free time on your hands, we welcome your visits. The bottom line is we like to have fun here and that’s what www.jrsbarbq.com is all about. Thanks for checking us out and come back and see us soon! J.R.

Are your products only available through your website/ restaurant(s), or is it possible to buy them at stores locally? I mean if I go to a grocery store chain, is it possible it might show up on their shelves? I don't give much thought about looking for it when I'm at grocery stores. I don't have your book when you are pictured with WWE Divas, but I did buy the book Can You Take The Heat? for my brother one year as a gift.
hello mr. ross, having been a fan of wrestling for three decades . i had a couple questions. do you think magnum t.a. would've dominated wresting if he handn't gotten hurt in '87? . do you feel the more companies the better ? wwe, tna, roh. i like it all even the local promotion's . good luck with all your bussiness interest's how do i get some of your products. when is benoit coming back? he represents all the is right in wrestling?. be well chris bell hyannis massachusetts.
Keep up the good work. Hopefully one day you can spread the BBQ love across the U.S. and put more resturants all over. Good job beating down the Oregon "stripper" by the way, LOL.
What's up JR? I was really exited to see that you were producing a blog as I really miss reading the Ross Report on wwe.com. I've always enjoyed reading your views on wrestling, speaking of which I was wondering what effect, if any, you think Kurt Angle signing with TNA might have on WWE? Thanks for taking the time to answer.
Hay JR. Its cool to see you got a website. I live Missouri. hope WWE comes back to my part of MO soon.
To the finest play by play man in sports-entertainment in my generation (and I was born in 78!). Thanks for some great moments J.R.
Hey JR. Long time fan of the biz. Tell Vince to bring back Randy Savage. You want to shack things up? Savage is your man. Also, tell Hogan to stop playing scared and get in the ring with Austin. Austin 3:16 say's I just wooped Hogan's A@@! Keep up the good work.
This blog whips others like a Government mule. What a slobberknocker ! I'm not sure the UK will get your products, JR, but I'd hope so.
It must have felt good being able to stay in your announce seat for an entire RAW in your home state.

Hi JR,nice to see you on a new web site. I know your time in the WWE is almost done, have you signed with the WWE yet? If not that is ok because I know you love football and the Sooners need a man like you at the broadcasting table! Tell Vince and the kids I say hi.
hi jr where is gunner sctoo these day mike
My father and I love the authentic BBQ restaurants here in the Treasure Valley in Idaho. There is supposed to be a good one we need to try near Portland, Oregon. Beef brisket, pulled pork, ribs, etc. are all good. I remember you from the WCW days. How you survived I'll never know. By the way, Ricky Gibson, brother of Robert Gibson of the Rock & Roll Express, recently passed away. You may remember Ricky got inducted into the Knoxville Wrestling Hall of Fame at SMW's Night of the Legends card in August 1994. My father had Bell's Palsy once. Can't remember which side of the face it was. He can definitely relate to your situation. Keep up the great work!

jr when is stonecold coming back to wwe?do you think tna is going to be a threat to wwe?
hey GOOD friend JR thanks for them free samples!!!!!! make sure you dont send out too many, or you may start to loose some money randy the sachs does not deserve a free sample of your hard hard work. the hard work you put into every bottle of YOUR sauce is a delicious treat that tickles my fancy every time i put it into my mouth jr. i love you. -adam skinner dude, give me a call sometime, we gotta catch up.
Hey JR. Keep doing RAW, you kill anybody they could have hired. I'm a long time WWE fan and read reports on the net, the real reports. Not the stuff they want us to believe. They could not have brought ANYBODY to replace you. And they knew it. Voice your opinions and do whats right! Vince and staff need you, you just need the business because you love it.
J.R., There isn't a better play by play man out there. You and gordon solie are the 2 greatest announcers wrestling has ever had. There's 2 championships matches that stand out the most to me. Steamboat and flair at wrestle war 89 and benoit, michaels and HHH at WM XX. Your passion during those matches is something you don't see everyday. Best of luck with this new endeavor and keep up the great work
Hey J.R., the site looks great! Looking forward to more information on your restuarant. I'm sure the food will be much better than the food was at WWE New York, hehe. I was just at Monday Night RAW two nights ago at the Garden, and there's still nothing like wrestling at the Garden. Can't wait for you guys to come back, hopefully before SummerSlam '07.
Jr, It was a pleasure meeting you in person during the OU/Wash game. We noticed your trailor during the first home game. We finally ate there Saturday, great Barbq, we'll continue eating at your place the rest of the home games and is looking forward to your resturant opening. I have fond memories of wrestling, Cowboy Bill Watts, Danny Hodge, Scandar Ackbar.
I attended a show at the Norfolk Arena back in the 90's. Being from MA. and to get 4th roe seats was awesome. Being so close to JR, my buddy went over to ask for an autograph. It was before the show. JR was nice enough to take the time. When my friend returned, the line that formed and we had started, it was kinda funny.
You're truly the best of all time. In the 28 yrs of watching pro wrestling and listening to the announcing, you just top them by far. And to have a picture of you with my arm around you truly stands as my 2nd favorite. Flair is #1.
BAW GAWD MA SAWCE! YA GOTSTA BUY IT! I'm not a big BBQ man, but at the very least, I'll buy a T-Shirt. I like the photo with you and Tony in Japan, I'd love to hear some more stories from the whole WCW/NJPW relationship. Quality site, sir.
Hey JR glad to see you back on the internet writing a column. I cannot tell you how much that I have missed reading what you write. I cant wait to get my hands on some of the BBQ sauce. Will it be in stores. Take Care. Jeff
How much extra would it cost to have JR personally deliver the catering to my in-laws house in Moore?
hi JR and family just a quick hello from good ol england been a huge wrestling fan since it first came on sky tv years ago here in uk will we ever ger to try your bbq sauce over here. We know its not really bbq weather most times of year but i really would like to try a free sample. I remember a comment u made time ago it used to be wrasslers wrasslin on a wrasslin show joey styles had a right point as did u all the best
Since you're entering the BBQ biz, there's one question you have to answer, Jim: Meat or sauce, which is most important?
Hi, just watched monday night raw this morning, thought the fans in atlanta sounded amazing. Watched it this morning as in England it's on really late so i usually find watching it means ample amount of coffee in the morning, but thats by the by. Think the Edge and Cena storyline is building up very nicely, appears to be one of the best rivalries for a long time both superstars complement each other very well. The Masterpiece looks in great shape, but I bet it's not to long before he goes to Smackdown. The Nitro Hardy battle looks very good fast paced athletic superstars very good to watch. One thing that concerns me is the DX storyline I have followed Shawn for a decade or so and have great respect for him as a performer and his autobiography is impelling, but it seems the storyline is dragging out so much you just can see where it is going to end, just my opinion. Anyway allready left a message about how good your website is, but I will do it again anyway, its brilliant! take care and will leave a message again soon.
STONE COLD!, STONE COLD!, STONE COLD!
Hey J.R. Just wanted to drop a line and let you know I'm a huge fan of yours when it comes to the WWE and I look forward to getting ahold of one of your bbq's. I will always be a supporter of yours in any aspect of your career you engage in, thanks to your wonderful work in the field of sports entertainment. Thank you for everything, JR.
Great site JR. I along with thousands of other fans was completely shocked by the release of Kurt Angle. Hopefully when Angle gets his mind and body right again he will be offered a contract with fewer dates. He could always manage a new team Angle. Would love to see him start a new Team Angle with two other gold medal winners like Karam Garber and Cael Sanderson. Just think of all the positve press this Honor club could bring the WWE.
Just like to congratulate you on your website first class. Just like yourself. Monday nights you have entertained us with your commentary for years and great you and the king are there.
You are the best and I will visit the site every chance I get!!!
Glad to hear you are not a "Hater." I'm an OSU fan in lawrence Kansas. Originally from Oklahoma, I have known you since the old Mid- South days. I would definately venture to Norman to eat some of your BBQ!
J.R. I am a big fan of your's and love your commentating alongisde the KING Anyway great website, added it to my list and will be checking it out quite regularly Thanks again
Awesome site, Mr. Ross! I am also a BBQ and 'rasslin fanatic and look forward to trying your recipes..see ya in Hotlanta tommorow! You are the best play by play announcer EVER..Keep on cookin'!
Glad to see your website is up and running. For a while now I have been interested in the JR’s BBQ Sauce and glad you have your own site. As a man who surely fits the 18-40 demographic I must say what brings me to the TV most nights on Monday is good announcing. I hear you refer to Gordon Solie often, but as we are into the millennium now, you my friend are present-day Gordon Solie. Good luck with the business as I am sure: “Business is about to pick up” soon for Good Ol’ Jr. Someday would love to hear you say: “King the only difference between you and Hugh Heffner is you both like young girls but he can afford them.”
Hey JR! The BBQ site looks great so far. BBQ is definitely one of my favs. Here in MD we prefer the wet to the dry. Ribs without a sauce to me is just barbaric! I think it's great that you may have a chance to open a bbq joint. Hopefully it will happen, & maybe you can expand them as well. You need to open one in MD...or that will mean a road trip for me! Lots of well wished coming your way...you are one of the greats & you deserve it!
Hello JR-am happy your getting things rolling with the BBQ sauces...you are our all-time favorite wwe announcer and we sure love you...When you were gone from wwe -it was plain sad how boring the announcing was-You and King are the best !!! I hope the AMcmahone family knows just how great you are and how loved you are by the fans...Good luck on all you do....
JR... congrats on the website and the success of the BBQ Sauce. It's aewsome and my favorite. A couple of questions... 1. How do you think the SOONERS will fare after losing thier starting quarterback? 2. Although I am a huge WWF/WWE fan I am also becoming a fan of the "other" show, TNA. How do you compare the talent of the 2 companies, if you can? Does TNA pose any threat to the WWE as fare as ratings or fan base? What are your thoughts? That's pretty much it. See you Monday.
Hey J.R I look forward to reading your new blog regulary. Big fan of your annoucing skills. Hope life is good for you and your family - Lee
Hey JR, You've been back for a while now, but I'm so glad to see you back on RAW. I know you're a diehard Sooner, but how do you think Va Tech will be this year with a new quarterback and having to replace the defensive backfield. How much will the loss of Bomar hurt OU, and from RAW, who do you see getting the next big push? I know its supposed to seem like WWE and ECW are "bitter enemies" but if the King retires (I hope he never does) you and Joey Styles work well together.
J.R.- I'm glad the barbq sauce business is underway. Even though my wife wants to cut back on eating so much red meat, it doesn't mean I can't stash a few bottles of my sauce in my hiding place...next to my gin. All the best with your new venture. Sauce! Sauce! Sauce! J--
