J.R. Responds...

Whether or not I agree with all your emails or not is irrelevant but one thing I can say is that fans of this business have PASSION! You’ve got to love it! I have never implied that I am going to always be on the right side of your argument but I can assure that I will always be honest with my opinions, for better or for worse. I hope that we can all engage in respectful dialog even when we disagree and not take the low rode with distasteful language. Plus, I hope that you amateur psychologists out there would refrain from telling me what my responses “really” mean. That is unless I can analyze you and I’m not qualified. Finally this is NOT a WWE site. This is my personal site that has been established through the efforts of some very talented people (not me) and has been established to help us promote our BBQ business of which I am very involved with at this time. Let’s get back to the business of answering some of your emails. I will respond to as many as time will allow but because of travel, my day job, the BBQ business we are building, my family, including my two granddaughters, and OU football my time is not as abundant as I would like. But I am alive and one year ago at this time it was thought that I had colon cancer so what is there really to be upset about? On my side of the fence…..nothing. Koby…The Big 12 North looks like it may run thru Lincoln again but that could be addressed this weekend to some degree. I love Mark Mangino and hope the KU team does great. The Saints played on guts week and seem to have a nice offense. I like Coach Payton, too. Darius…Tulsa University was omitted due to my lack of mental faculties. My youngest daughter graduated from TU with honors and I have followed the Golden Hurricane all my life via the Tulsa World including when their coach was Glenn Dobbs who actually sent me a recruiting letter when I was in high school. I, too, miss Ft. Gibson’s Teddy Lehman with the Lions but don’t count Teddy out. He will hopefully be back in 2007. Jason…thanks for the nice words from a Husker fan. Tazz is a Husker fan too. I agree it doesn’t feel right that OU doesn’t play Nebraska every year. Coach John Blake is a great recruiter but seeing the Huskers not in the “I” doesn’t seem right. Steve…How can you not love West Virginia football? The Mountaineers are tough and well coached. Keeping Coach Rodriquez might be a chore. Grant in Glascow…A Sooner is a person who did not wait for the Oklahoma land run to officially start in the late 1880s and left before the cannons sounded. Those that left “legally” are called Boomers. Hence, Boomer Sooner!! Jarrod…I don’t know the Australian issues as to why you can’t see UFC and TNA. I would doubt that the WWE would have the clout to keep a company from doing business in an entire country. Travis…The Brand Extension, for better or worse, in your opinion, looks to be here to stay. Quality depth is definitely an issue. Ben… The Macho Man certainly deserves to be in the WWE Hall of Fame. Savage was one of the greats of a dynamic era. I can’t nor won’t speak for Vince McMahon but I don’t think McMahon hates Savage as someone suggested on another email. Ryan in the UK….There is a great deal more about this business than making money. After being in it for over 30 years and earning MANY $25-40 payoffs back in the day, the love of the business has driven many of us to persevere. Unfortunately there are not as many people who are in wrestling today simply because they love it nor am I sure they should be. They should love it but they have to earn a living for the abuse they put their bodies through. The bottom line is you have to be able to pay your bills and provide for your family no matter your vocation and that includes wrestling. Bob…I will check out some ROH DVDs. I was merely being honest when I said I did not watch enough of the ROH product to judge it. It isn’t that I don’t like it but there are only so many hours in a day plus old guys like me, as has been pointed out by some emailing us, need our naps. I have heard nothing but great things about the in ring product at ROH events. Mike..Bryan Danielson is a great in ring performer. I have been familiar with him since he broke in the business. I was keenly aware of his training. His lack of size has adversely affected his professional progression and that is not fair. Bryan is a passionate wrestler who has perfected his skills but I am sure Bryan would tell you that he can’t do this stuff for free. I hope Bryan gets his “break” some day soon IF he aspires to go beyond ROH. Personally I don’t know that Bryan isn’t perfectly content to stay right where he is. Will D…I love your passion and your strong feelings toward things but the profanity isn’t necessary. Chris…Do I ever think we will see Austin vs. Hogan? Honestly, no. Paul…What do I think of Joey Styles announcing? I think Joey does a great job…is a student of the game…has natural passion…and is the perfect choice to anchor the ECW brand. Plus, Joey likes BBQ! Grant in the UK…I would love to see the WWE do a big time PPV in the United Kingdom and I think it will be a reality sooner than most expect. I love coming to the UK as it feels like home in that the fans are so respectful and friendly. The UK definitely deserves a major PPV. If I had a vote, you know how I would cast it. Tony…C.M. Punk has “it”. Plain and simple. Punk is a future building block in the new ECW. I love his originality. Jason…I agree the fans should have a “vote” of some sort in the WWE Hall of Fame. We are all fans which is why we are communicating here on this site. Bjorn from Germany…thanks for reading our site. I am positive your English is MUCH better than my German! I do appreciate your kind remarks. Hog Dog…..Considering you have no idea of my relationship with Kurt Angle it makes you come off as less than informed when you indicate that I “hate” Kurt Angle. The next time you talk to Kurt why don’t you ask him? Kurt did not come cheap to work a less than full time schedule with TNA I can assure you. Nor should he have. Kurt deserves every dollar he earns and I wish him nothing but success and many healthy years no matter where he works. Walter…I love the “Big Easy” and have worked many events in the Super Dome. I can’t get back to New Orleans soon enough because, again as has been pointed out, I enjoy good groceries and one can load up in your town. The Commander’s Palace may be the best restaurant I have ever experienced. I wish I knew when we were headed your way but I would hope in 2007. Good luck with the Saints. Plus, OKC has only “borrowed” the Hornets. The Hornets still belong to New Orleans. Brad T….Sorry it pained you to watch this old man on ECW Tuesday Night. I’ll try not to make that a habit. I do like the brand a great deal though and was just trying to help out. Evil Art Director…Why have I angered you so profusely? I am not a TNA hater. Jim Cornette, Mike Tenay, and many others there are people I admire and respect and consider great friends. There are several talents in TNA that I worked with at the WWE. I wish no ill will on any of them. Why would I? What would I personally gain if TNA went belly up? Nothing. I love this business and the wrestlers who make the true sacrifices to keep it running and the more places they can earn a living the better. If I did not like or want TNA and any other wrestling organization to survive we wouldn’t be talking about them here. If some of the WWE guys eventually go to TNA then good for them. If my friends are happy doing what they are doing then I am happy for them. It’s really that simple. Plus, I never said Vince McMahon was going to buy TNA but I never thought McMahon would own WCW either. I learned a long time ago in this business to never say never. Many have asked about how to get our Merchandise, BBQ and other sauces and I am happy to say the STORE IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS!!! Please check it out with my thanks. Lots of Vince Russo emails….firstly Vince and I buried the hatchet long ago and not in each others skull. People who live angrily in the past eventually die there. That’s not for me or him. I wish Vince well. He is a bright, creative guy. I even bought his book, paid retail for it and liked it! Gabriel…Indeed the Chicago Bears defense is deadly. I only wish my boy Dusty Dvorachek was playing along side #91 Tommie Harris. That is two bad ex-Sooners to deal with for any offensive line. The Bears have 4 Sooners on their squad and I check them out on satellite every week, along with the Baltimore Ravens who have their fair share (5) former Sooners on their team. Bears Coach Lovie Smith was a great DB at Tulsa University so the Monsters of the Midway have a distinct Oklahoma flavor. David in Saskatoon…I agree David that some fans get a little carried away. I know I can’t make everyone happy but I can be respectful and honest to all that visit us. We are taking steps to attempt to filter out foul language that some feel compelled to use. I would have loved to have seen the Hitman-Flair match in your city when Bret won the title. Bret is one of the very best of any generation….a marvelous, ring general. Finally, let’s make it clear that I am not involved with any aspect of the WWE except handling my duties on Monday Night RAW and on the pay per views I am assigned to work as a broadcaster. I am very happy with that arrangement and hope it continues for many years. I have paid my dues in the corporate world and now I want to do other things along with the WWE such as this…building my BBQ business for my family and me. I like spending time and spoiling my granddaughters. You can lash out at me for perceived WWE sins if you choose and I will read them but they can’t be addressed officially in this forum. Nonetheless, whether I agree with you or not I appreciate you checking out our site and for those of you that choose to do business with us I sincerely thank you. If you ever purchase anything here that is not up to your standards or you are disappointed with please let me know. Thanks and let’s all count our blessings that we are able to communicate as we are. J.R.

THe Whole womens divion is just stupid. I mean sure their are nice looking girls. But why are they even In the wwe.this is coming from someone who used to love wresling.
You won't have to worry about TNA at all! As long as Jeff Jarrett and Vince Russo keeps on using the same old tired storylines and the crappy booking and rushed production and Panda gets tired of being milked for every dollar it has, TNA will never be a threat to WWE! Speaking of WWE and with Bishoff talking about the demise of WCW, why hasn't Vince McMahon thought about making WCW a fourth brand extension of WWE like he did ECW?
JR, if you have any power in WWE, and dont want it to be whipped by TNA, highlight the f*cking cruserweights. i want to see matches before mainevents things like london vs helmes. also, start getting good wrestlers instead of body building stiffs like cena n batista in the heavyweights, and use people like beniot. and get cena of that dam title, because he dam well suks big time. people laugh at WWE for having him on it, i stoped watching WWE all the time because of him, now i only check out the site and maybe watch the main events(i get them for free, i wouldnt pay to see cena when i could buy ROH tapes) and fire visera and val venis and all because they suk as well and no1 cares about them and there jobbers. there is alot of great talent out there that could replace all this crap.
What is the dang deal with WWE over promoting Carlito? That guy is a freakin' joke...My lil sister is cooler than that chump! Why is this loser at main event status when several other stars shine way brighter than him. ( not to mention that they can all act better too!) In my opinion Carribian Cool is a Caribian Culo! P.s. Lost another to TNA as you gained one back...Angle for Hardy....Do you think that was a fair trade?
First off, I think it was really great of you to respond to all the people's comments on here. Personally, I am a huge wrestling fan and try to look at things with an open mind. I am not a big TNA fan, and not because I am WWE mark, nor anything like that. Personally, I think that their booking style is very uncreative, that their matches are not being built to well towards, and Impact simply doesn't deliver the action I'd like to see. Now, I know that there are many wrestling fans who are sick and tired of watching men in skirts, cheerleaders, pirates, leprachauns, "special" people, and all of the other things WWE feeds to them right now and I can't blame them. With that in mind I would like to ask you several questions: 1. If you were in charge of WWE what would you do to make the product more popular, marketable and appealing to the strong style wrestling fans? 2. What would be some of the people you would give a chance to shine that they aren't getting right now? And are there any wrestlers...ugh...superstars who are at the top spots now and you think they don't deserve to be? 3. What do you think of John Cena's work rate and inring abilities? Do you think that WWE is marketing him well right now? Also, I do not know how much influence you have when it comes to bringing new wrestlers into the company but I would really like you to check out on this one guy. His professional name is Super Dragon. Right now he competes and partially owns the Pro Wrestling Guerrila, which is a medium sized indy promotion from Cali. He is a great performer who has been wrestling since 1997. He does many moves which I am sure WWE fans would fall in love with, and his "a**hole" gimmick just makes his character look so much better. He's natural and would be a great fit in ECW and even RAW/SD. I really recommend that you check out Super Dragon Evolution 3 and 4, and if you have trouble getting the tapes I would be happy to send them to you. Anyway, JR, thanks for your time. It is always good to find someone intelligent to discuss pro wrestling with. I wish you the best luck in WWE and the best luck with your BBQ company. -Dan
hello jr i would like to see a match with stone cold and goldberg vs dx at wm 23
Hey J.R. I was just wondering if we will ever see WWE try and go back after the Dudleys and Christian again. I would love to see just one more classic TLC match with Edge, Christian vs. Hardys vs. Dudleys. I listen to Between the ropes radio station and "Brother Devon" is on it alot and said his dream match would to have another one I was just wondering if you think its possible to happen again. Thank you so much I love to see what you answer is.
First of all I'd like to say that your blogs make for some very interesting reading - keep up the good work! I'd like to know whether you think that The Undertaker will ever be on the Raw roster again and will he hold one of the main championship titles before he retires? P.S. I'd just like to say that John Cena is a great wrestler whom I believe will go down as one of the most important figures in wrestling history.
Hi jr, Im a big fan. (like everyone else here) Anyway My first live event was unforgiven in portland and it was awesome!!! I was wondering if you knew wether or not the wwe plans on coming back sooon and if maybe you'd consider doing an aoutograph session. Keep up the great announceing Dustin
Its pretty awesome that you took the time to respond to the emails, i find that pretty admirable considering your celebrity status and schedule. Thank you for that. Also thank you for taking the time to clear up some misunderstandings and rumors.
Hey JR, Ric Flair, Tatanka, Flash Funk, Marty Jannety and all the other old guys should be fired. And Hogan is terrible. WWE needs to focus on Randy Orton, Carlito, Ken Kennedy, John Cena (as much as i dislike him), because these are the stars of the future. Also, the tag division is ridiculous on both Raw and Smackdown. I like that Cade and Murdoch are being oushed as tough guys, so if they win the belts, and fued with DX for them, it would give the titles some credibility. Also, put in word to Vince to fire Mike Knox and Test. Both are obviously not bothered about the drug testing and wellness policy. And will ECW be bringing back it's TV title and Tag team straps if it gets another hour?
Hi JR, I have been a fan of WWE for 6 years now and I am really hoping for a big WWE PPV in the UK. What do you think of the chances of there being a Wreslemania or Summerslam (like in 1992)? Also, John Cena is Ok but when Edge was the champ he should have throwed it in the bin where it belongs and bring the old belt back, the WWE title has no prestige anymore while it has the spinning belt.
Thanks for the response J.R.! I hope to see Randy Savage in the Hall of Fame sometime soon. I just ordered a bottle of your sause, so I hope your serious about getting feedback. Hopefully the taste will help me forget about our Seahawks loss this past weekend. Those ex-Sooners of yours did a number on us...
Mr Ross im glad to see your store is up and running, i wish and your business well as you deserve that beach-front property in california. your a hard worker and always have been. good for you. Iv read alot of complaints about "Too Much DX". To me the life of RAW is Dx. i think there funny and aside from HBK being a bit "Toned Down" i think there just as good as they ever were. Im very happy with Jeff Hardy winning the Ic title, as i think the Ic title which was one of the more entertaining and prestigeous titles over the years has lost its luster a bit. Benjamin is a great athlete, dont get me wrong, but 2 Wrestlemanias in a row without a Ic title match is too long for me when some of the greatest Wrestlemania matches of all time have been bouts for the Interconinental title. i think the title has NOW found a "real" champion (not quoting Nature boy). Im eager to hear your thoughts on a Dx vs nWo survivor series match and also on what Eric Bischoff said about you in his book? I always look forward to reading your blog and cant wait to hear your legendary commentary on Monday Nights. best of luck with your website as i will be a regular customer. Thankyou for your time. -Joe Fish
Another thing, JR You'll get a laugh out of this. A lot of the net fans were so eagerly anticipating a passing mention of Kurt Angle on live air that they misconstrued the following statement directed at Melina during the Nitro-Hardy matchup: "We've all seen that HURT ANKLE routine before." You see, what's hilarious is that many net fans thought you said "KURT ANGLE routine." I thought you'd get a good laugh out of that.
HHH's burial of all the talent, especially Masters, was unconscionable. Why would you point out that Masters has lost "50 pounds." Who does that help? That has to be one of the most hypocritical statements in WWE history. Does HHH forget all the mass he gained in January of 2001? Just because HHH can use his clout to be exempt from the Wellness program and take steroids, it doesn't mean he has the right to bury talent like that. Nice to see Degeneration-X literally KILL OFF whatever tag-team division there was. Other than feeding their self-aggrandizing egos, what purpose does it serve, business-wise to have a team that doesn't have to be protected (DX) go over three other tag teams in 4 minutes? I feel quite sad for the Highlanders, who are supposed to be faces. I don't know if anyone was particularly aware, but did you know that despite live cheers, DX actually LOSES viewers? From Todd Martin, "Last week, DX appeared twice. Both times they were placed in traditional growth time slots. They bombed anyway, losing over 500,000 viewers in just the second segment of the show, and gaining no viewers at the beginning of the second hour. Those are terrible, terrible indicators. So how did WWE respond? By sticking DX in just about every segment of the show. I don’t even know how to begin with this nonsense." Isn't that amazing, JR? I'm glad DX admitted they are NWO-ripoffs, because they are. I hear that RVD is continuing to outdo himself with another classic match against Test that will air on Tuesday. I'll be looking forward to that. How obvious is it that Cade and Murdoch are being "pushed" for a Survivor Series match?
Hi JR, what is your favorite sauce that you sell?
I know you probably have little or nothing to do with what goes on on the t.v. side of things, but I thought I'd ask anyhow. What is the deal with all these commercial breaks in the middle of matches that have been going on on WWE T.V. for the past several years? I remember when it used to be several commercials were aired around a backstage segment all at once so that a good match/main event were aired without a break. Now for this seems to happen on Raw/Smackdown at least 2-3 times per show and it's grown beyond annoying, imo. It kills the momentum of a good match and prolongs the agony of a bad one. I know of at least 2 people who have stopped watching WWE T.V. on a regular basis because they have grown sick of this. I was just curious if you might be able to tell me the reasoning behind this practice? Thanks, Chad
HEY JR, I'm a huge fan of yours! I am a pro wrestler who, while on the road, envisions you doing commentary on my matches! Keep up the great work.
Nice Blog, J.R. You are doing the right thing by deleting posts that contain profanity. Sadly, the curse words and relentless bickering are apart of every wrestling board I've ever been to, so it's nice to know that won't be the case here. I've got a couple of questions for you. Who are your top five personal favorite wrestlers? Out of all of the places you've worked, which promotion put on the most exciting shows in your opinion? And finally, what do you think of the WWE "spinner" belt?
Hello Jr. I appologize for doubting your true feeling for the wrestling business regarding the Jeff Jarrett/Poloygraph test segment on TNA IMPACT a couple of weeks ago. I misread the comments. However I want to know what you think of TNA's talent. What do you make of the Triple H/Jeff Jarrett backstage politics b/s? I'm a big fan of Jeff Jarrett, and didn't agree with some comments you made about JJ during the Monday Night Wars, I believe you were doing your job, Do you think Jeff Jarrett would have ever been WWE Champ, hadn't it now been for your buddy SCSA. Its my hope, that Jeff Jarrett beats Kurt Angle is the rasslin business. Plus, Why does it seem like WWE holds back Former WCW Talent. It took Booker T five years to gain respect from the higher ups in Stamford, to become World Champion. Once again, I apologize for remarks I made about the Jeff Jarrett polygragh segment you commented on, Respectfully Blake
Hey J.R.JUST WANTED TO GET YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE POWER OUTAGE LAST WEEK AT THE BEGINING OF THE SHOW?IF YOU COULD REPLY IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED ALSO WHATS THE LATEST ON VINCE AND SHANE WHEN WILL THEY RETURN?TAKE CARE AND HOPE TO HERE FROM YOU SOON~MIKE~
Hi JR- I have always been a fan of yours ever since I started watching the WWE a few years back.Your color commentary is second to none. When I read your bio,I was pleasently surprised to see that you are a die hard football fan,and the ironic thing about it is before I knew this fact,I thought you would make one helluva NFL or College analyst/broadcaster-and you have done this already!I know your thoughts on the Sooners, but what is your own personal predictions for the upcoming NFL season? My two young sons absolutely adore you and King, and wanted to say hi.Thanks,JR! Drew
I was just wondering if Stone Cold was going to be on the RAW 3 hour special on October 9th? I know they didn't advertise him but sometimes they don't. He was the reason I started watching wrestling almost 10 years ago. I think it would only be right since they are calling it RAW "Family Reunion". Thank you JR... Love hearing you on RAW every Monday.
Hey JR, You really are popular. You have great respect from the wrestling fans. Who else gives up so much time to post so many blogs AND respond to lots of readers' comments. I have to agree with many people. A WWE ppv in the UK would be FANTASTIC. Where else except big WWE shows sell out arenas? In Manchester or any other UK arena would create a great atmosphere. Bret Hart regards his match at Wembley as THE BEST of his career.
What do you think of the new WWE Magazine? I was a fan of the mag before it split due to the seperate brands, but now it's more like FHM, Maxim, Giant, and all of those other formula mags. I don't care what Viscera's favorite party games are! Who cares about Michelle McCool's favorite reality shows? Who needs CM Punk's 10 favorite 1980's hardcore bands? I don't. I'll have to stick to magazines like Pro Wrestling Illustrated until something changes at WWE Magazine. It is funnier, though.
Hey J.R. Tonight is monday night Raw , and I was thinking today. What do you do before you get the arenas. I know that sounds very out there , but do you do any rituals or say "Unique New York Unique New York how I love Unique New York" I wanted to ask what was your favorite match to commentate? I know everyone loves the job you did capturing the emotion on Mick Foleys Hell in a Cell with Undertaker at king of the Ring 1998. When I was kid I was born listening to Mr. McMahon commentary on Raw. Ever since you covered for Raw it has set the bar. Im not one to kiss ass , but thats the truth. It's hard for other companies to compete against WWE because well their commentary has let's just say are weak. They really force their emotion, anyone who disagrees I am willing to throw down. So I have always wondered do you practice or experiment with new sayings like "Government Mule" (which is one of my favorites). Also knowing your a huge Mickey Mantle fan did when you met him on a plane near Dallas (That's my hometown) did you say to yourself : Holy Moly what should I do? How do I say high? The reason I asked this I saw Stone Cold once after a show about 5 years ago I was so Frozen I didn't know what to say anything. I didn't want to take a picture with him walking because I think thats rude. I have always regreted no even saying hello. The wierd thing I actually ate a table away from Latoya Jackson when I was tweleve , and called her Micheal instead. Whoops ! oh well I am probably Rambling incoherently like the Commentators on TNA... ( theirs a deep silence) anyway Love the Sauce , Love the Commentating, Love the WWE... From the lonestar state Bryan De Souza
J.R., How\'s Chris Benoit? I hope he and his family are well, and I can\'t wait to see him back in the ring. (As far as I\'m concerned, any of the \"brands\" could really use him right now...) I\'ve been enjoying the blog and always look forward to your next entry. Thanks for reading my message, and take care.
Hey J.R. Now that Vince owns the World Class video library do you think we'll see a "Best of the Freebirds-Von Erichs'" DVD anytime soon ? It was the greatest feud I've ever seen. Also, what are the chances of the Freebirds getting into the Hall of Fame ?
MR.J.R. do you think because of what Pillman did in 96'and 97' opened the door for dx and others in the business.
additional (sorry)- the fact that Richards held out before submitting worked because he looked good against Punk - it didn't seem as inevitable as, for example, a tap to that awful STF-U.
First, I'd like to add thanks for your taking the time to respond to the fans on this site - especially as you're in the middle of setting up a new business. That's tough work. The very best of luck to you! WWE's in-ring product seems to be geared increasingly towards the business end of things. I wondered what you thought - you've been able to watch it evolve close-up... Let me explain what I mean, because - obviously - wrestling is a business so I need to define my terms. I know a lot of people who complain about (for example) John Cena's and / or Batista's apparent lack of technical ability. I've started to wonder whether this is because these guys really aren't great technicians, or because the office is telling them to just make sure they get their signature spots in - the theory being that people are parting with their money to see those same moves they see on TV, much like people pay to hear a favourite band play a particular tune. Before the all-too-short Angle-Taker feud this/last year I saw these two work a match in Cardiff, UK. It was amazing - real hold-for-hold back and forth stuff. It felt like a genuine competition. I felt it could have gone either way. It was inevitable the Undertaker would have the win (because we paid to see a Tombstone piledriver) but it felt like a fight because the signature moves were hidden amongst actual wrestling. On TV however, it seems that the economics of wrestling demand that Undertaker is fed a string of big men (who appear to be less than solid, technically) so that he can perform his signature moves. The poor guy looked really frustrated during his programme with Heidenreich (for example). CM Punk's matches are right at the other end of the scale for me. There isn't an inevitability to his matches. Even though Stevie Richards typically works to make other guys look good, it felt like his match with CM Punk a few weeks ago could have gone either way. The guys took advantage of one another's mistakes. There were holds and reversals. Richards got some shots in, and Punk was fazed. Punk didn't suddenly pull out a run of signature moves which we knew would put Richards away. It even felt like the "anaconda vice" might not seal the deal because Richards was held out for a while before submitting. I appreciate this is a long email, so many thanks in advance if you get the chance and / or inclination to respond. All the best, MRC
Hi JR, Now that you store is open, I want to try your bbq sauce, however, being a diabetic and counting carbs and watching my diet, I have a question. Where can I get some nutritional information on the sauces.
Hi JR, I'm a huge fan of both yourself and joey styles commentating styles. I was wondering what your thoughts were on the Hardcore Holly v Van Dam match that took place recently on ECW. For my money, it was easily one of the best free to air matches the new ECW has produced. Also, do you feel that CM Punks lack of huge muscle mass will hinder his abilities to be a future main eventer? I myself am greatly reminded of Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels when i watch his matches and body mannerisms. I dont know if you'll be able to read down this far on your site, or reply to this post, but thank you for the time you spend on this site replying to fans. I know you dont have to, so it means alot. From a fan from Australia, THANK YOU!
Hey JR, Great to see you with some non-kayfabed reports. Really enjoy the blog, keep up the great work. I know you have a limited schedule, therefore putting constraints on how much you see, but what do you think the match of the decade has been so far? Thanks.
Wow JR, I really respect how you take the time to write to all ur fans. People who are disrespectful on here are ridiculous but on the net theres always gonna be your share of idiots. If ya get One ROH show make sure its Better Than Our Best, it has a great Lance Storm vs Bryan Danielson match and the entire card is just really awesome.
That's totally awesome that you are so open and honest with the fans, J.R. We are truly lucky, in a sense, to have an "insider" answering our questions to the best of his ability. With that said, I was just wondering if you think Cena got the WWE title because he honestly deserves it (it can be argued either way), or because WWE wanted to be able to push his upcoming film that much more? I personally have no issues with Cena as a person; he's a really nice guy with a great sense of humor, and a boatload of charisma. At the same time, it's hard to see why he gets "shoved" down our throats week in and week out. Perhaps if he hadn't held the title originally for 9 1/2 months, that feeling would be different. Once he started beating guys like Kurt Angle and Triple H, and even Edge, it just became stale, if you know what I mean. Edge holding the title has been the most exciting time I've had watching RAW in a while (since Triple H and Batista had their great feud), because he has that innate charisma *plus* the in-ring skills to match. I'm like you: old-school. I've been a fan since the 1991 (I'm a youngin', I know). I prefer a great wrestling match over an awesome storyline any day of the week. That's probably why I can't enjoy Cena as much as I used to, since I realized that his skills in the ring are not on the level of an Edge or Triple H or especially Kurt Angle. Nothin' against Cena, again, because I totally respect what he does for the fans, and what he sacrifices to entertain us. But again, it's just my opinion (and the opinion of lots of people at live WWE events) that he shouldn't be in the position he is now. Your thoughts, if you get a chance. Thanks so much!
Just a simple thanks to you, JR. Up until very recently(my grandfather passes)we had FOUR generations of WWE fans in the house on monday nights. From Pop down to our 3 year old, we all look(ed) forward to Good Ole JR and the King..Cant tell you how upset our house was when the King was gone and later on when you left for your health reasons..Thanks for adding so much to the shows Karl
J.R. How's it going there on your end buddy!? When are we going to see some WCW DVD's hit the store shelves. I know plenty of WWE fans including myself in the market looking to buy! WWE DVD's are a bit lacking meaning the same matches get rehashed over and over again on different dvd's, which is frustrating for a collector like myself... I.E. McMahon DVD. Documentary was good, but for the matches themselves, I felt kind of duped buying into the same matches. Being a WWE fan for years on end, I realize alot of the roster talent from back in the day came from WCW.. Greats like Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Hulk Hogan, etc, their are historic moments that are being left out, that I strongly want to see. I like how Brian Pillmans DVD turned out. Lot's of classic moments from WCW.. Does Mr. McMahon feel that strongly about WCW even now that he owns the rights, to just bury and forget about it and deprive us fans of historic events in wrestling history?
What's up JR? Hey I know I have written you a lot but I have another question if you don't mind. You have so much wrestling knowledge and I love reading your blogs! Anyways, Will The Rock return and if so do you know when? And do you know who Hulk Hogan might fight at Wrestlmania 23? I live in Michigan and can't wait until April 1st!! I am only 15 and so I did not get to see Wrestlemania 3 but can't wait until Wrestlemania 23!! I got chills today just thinking about being there! I also want to let you know even though I'm only 15 I respect the Legendary wrestlers that paved the way for what I have been watching for 6 years! I also have WWE 24\7 and It is Great! Which all of this brings me to my last question: My freind is 12 and also watches WWE, but does not respect the Legends that paved the way for what he watches today, can you give me advice on how I can get him to respect the old school? You are such a busy man, so my opinions and questions do not matter all that much but I appreciate your time. Can not wait until Wrestlemania 23 at Ford Field! You are a Amazing man JR and I respect you so much! Bye!
What were your thoughts on the history of the WWE championship DVD? I was really dissapointed with the DVD. There is no reason why they couldn't show the Bob Backlund vs Superstar Billy Graham match in it's entirety with the original commentary. Did somebody actually think Craig DeGeorge was a better pbp man than Vince McMahon? Don't you think people want to see these matches in their entirety with the original commentary? Most of the matches from the 70's are joined in progress! A lot of the other 70's matches are joined in progress. Most of the matches shown from the 80's on can already be found on other DVD's. For instance Shawn Michaels vs Mankind is on both Shawn Michaels and Mick Foley's DVD's.
sorry i mean't to say owen hart in the hall of fame
JR your a legend and like you i love The Rattlesnake more than anyone. Any news on him returning for 'one last match'? Cheers mate.
J.R., do you think Teddy Lehman will ever live up to his collegiate hype?
Hey J.R., I am an avid cook and recently bought my first smoker. I’d love to try your BBQ sauce. I’m a man in his forties and have been a life long wrestling fan. Unfortunately, I feel betrayed by the Kurt Angle situation. When he left WWE, I had deep compassion for the man hearing about the severity of his physical and mental problems. I thought he would be out for quite some time and was thankful that he would be saved by (yet another) potential wrestling tragedy. Then to find out a short time later that he’s already coming back--guess he’s not hurting that bad. To say that WWE “held him back” after all his accomplishments was the knife twisting in my back. I regularly watch TNA, but am not loyal to it as I am the WWE. They have more work to do to be up to par with Vince and the gang. You mentioned Stan Hansen breaking Bruno Sammartino’s neck. I was at Madison Square Garden in 1977 when Bruno made his return to take revenge on Hansen. I’ll never forget it just for the sheer thrill of seeing two main eventers in the ring together. Back then there was no regular T.V. schedule or PPV, so you rarely saw a feuding duo ever touch each other unless you attended a live event. That is the build up I sometimes miss. How different the business was back then and what’s to come ahead in the world of professional wrestling? One thing is guaranteed-excitement! Love your blogs-Ray in Venice, Florida
hey JR, What do you think of kane nowadays? we don't see him that often. i last thought that he would come back with the mask on. If that was not the case then what was the point of the whole storyline anyway? what do you think? I also heard that Kane and Undertaker were to retire in 2008 , is that true? if so what are your thoughts on that?
Hey J.R., glad your taking time to speak to the fans. I was wondering if you could shed any light on a matter that has bugged me for a while- Why hasn't Kane ever had a decent run with the WWE title? My opinion always has been that he is "the measuring stick" as far as giants go. If he's not then certainly he's in the top 3. Also could you express your opinion on Edge being now a former 2 time WWE Champion while Matt Hardy is losing to the crusierweight champion? Thanks for dealing with us fans, I know the majority of us have more passion then brain cells :P -Nick
J.R why has not owen hart elected to hall of fame. To me he desirves it
Hey JR, Huge fan of yours since you made your debut in a toga at WM IX @ "Ceasars Palace." My question is about the showstoppa, HBK. At the age of 40 (I am not sure if he is 41 yet, sorry) he continues to defy the odds with amazing matches long after his serious injury that would have ended almost anyone elses career. I know he needs surgery (I think I heard on his knee?) and is waiting for the DX reunion to run its course (which to be honest I hope doesn't happen until long after WM 23 because HHH and HBK together cannot be topped). Do you see him or know of since I am sure you know him somewhat well, retiring anywhere in the near future? If you say no he won't I will be most happy because since the first day I watched wresting in November of 1990, HBK has been my all-time favorite (next to you of course!) - I actually partially dream of becoming a WWE announcer someday because I love sportscasting and wrestling stories are just so amazing when it is being told, by you especially. Sorry for the long letter. Stay well JR!
JR, Loved the Ross Report, have been loving your blogs since their inception. With the butt kissing out of the way, I'd iike to ask you about a few things. One being the current Tag Team Divisons on Raw/Smackdown. I think as parts, both divisions aren't very impressive simply because there aren't enough to support either. But I think that if combined on one show or if the titles were united and the champions were allowed to float (as used for the Undisputed and Womens Titles in 02), then some serious revivement could be done. Cade&Murdoch, James&Stevens, Cryme Time, The Highlanders, Spirit Squad, London&Kendrick, a reunited Haas&Benjamin, DX and maybe Test&Knox, FBI, Sabu&RVD from ECW could make a very solid divison. Perhaps it's a far cry from the days of the Harts, Bulldogs, Demolition, Rockers era but if given the chance to showcase their abilities, the current crop of teams could be just as good as any other promotion's tag teams. Second, From what I gather you've seen at least a tiny bit of Ring of Honor and if you've seen enough to point out if anyone aside from the aforementioned, and excellent Bryan Danielson has caught your eye? Sometimes I wonder if you were still Head of Talent Relations if the likes of Jimmy Rave, Nigel McGuiness, Roderick Strong, etc would see more try outs for WWE. I know you guys have DSW and OVW for the future but I would hope John Laurentitis and Vinnie Mac would also like to continue to gather talent from the outside as well. Finally, what are your opinions on the recent signings of Scorpio, Godwinn, Rodney Mack, Brad Armstrong, and Marty Jannetty? I was nicely surprised to see the forever underated Armstrong given another shot at glory or at least being allowed to spread his limitless knowledge with the other guys. And I was a big fan of Mack in his first stint and from what I saw of his work in Japan, he could still surprise some. Thanks for all you've done and continue to do!
