J.R. Visits with Ex-Sooners at Monday Night Raw

This past Monday night in Chicago at the sold out All State Arena 9 members of the Chicago Bears sat at ringside including former Oklahoma Sooners Tommie Harris and Dusty Dvoracek who were there to enjoy the WWE and to say hello to longtime friend and Sooner Fan Jim Ross. The two former Sooner defensive tackles were seen on national T.V. having a great time and were sitting just behind J.R. at ringside. Both Dusty and Tommie have indicated to J.R. that when their NFL days are over that they would love the chance to train for and have one big, high level main event match. Both defensive tackles have the physical gifts to be huge stars in the WWE but for the moment Bears fans have nothing to worry about as Dvoracek, who is out for the season with a foot injury, and Harris, arguably the most dominating defensive tackle thus far this season in the NFL. are completely focused on the Monsters of the Midway winning the Super Bowl. Two other former Sooners, Mark Bradley and J.D. Runnels, also play for the Bears but were unable to attend. The Sooner Bears have invited J.R. to attend a game at Soldier Field this season. J.R. broadcast XFL games with former Bears Dick Butkus and Dan Hampton and follows Chicago’s NFL season closely, especially with so many Sooners on the team. The same goes for the Sooner laden Baltimore Ravens.

JR, you are a WWE Icon,only second to my number one ICOn Shawn Michaels. I Would to thank you for still being aroundnow at a time where you can easily walk away and have a full time freedom to do as you please. MY Question is as much as I respect Shawn for wanting to stay away from the wwe title and letting younger talent get their time to shine, i say its a shame Vince and others dont push/support Shawn to once again holding the wwe belt in a main event match. HE is a treasure and to me the one guy In my opinion of course that no matter what venue,ppv,house show,ppv, a promo, a interview, a tag match or a main event match you know you are going to be entertained. Hey JR! I'ma long time fan and I love reading your blogs, they are probably some of the best out on the net, and it's some stiff competition too with the likes of lance storm and matt hardy. anyway, a few questions. 1.) If the rumors of Monty Brown coming to WWE are true, how would you like to seem utalized in a WWE ring and on which brand? 2.) Who do you feel is the most underrated talent on the entire WWE roster? 3.) What are your true thoughts on the new WWE version of ECW? 4.) What caused the switch between yourself and Johnny Ace as head of talent relations, or whatever that position was? 5.) Was the release of Ted DiBiasie as a "Producer" a mutual release? If so, is there any light you can shed as to why? I was always a big DiBiasie fan and when he appeared on Raw Homecoming, it was one of the greatest moments ever for me. 6.) And finally...Let's say the year is 2012. The WWE has just bought TNA much like it did to TNA. This is WWE's chance to re-do the InVasion storyline the right way. The Million Dollar Man got released???? WHY???????????????? After Tully Blanchard got hired recently, I was hoping for a Brain Busters vs Money Inc. Legends match at WM!!! Admit it, you know that would be awesome, even if only for the legend factor. The only thing that would be better would be Ric Flair vs Ricky Steamboat. Yeah, I went there. I don't care how old they are, its got awesomeness written all over it. Considering how many legends the WWE has under contract, why not more special attraction legend matches? I'm not saying they should give them considerable tv time, just advertise the match, thats good enough for the legends. no story needed, just a special attraction. doesnt even need to be a great match, but something to let us old school fans remember the past. Hey JR. Greetings from Japan! I'm over here as part of an English-as-a-Second-Language program, and when I'm not teaching, I try to catch up on the going-ons of the wrestling business. One thing that I'm curious about is why the booking committee int he WWE is intent on giving people with actual talent terrible gimmicks. Nick Dinsmore/Eugene, Rob Conway, and Ken Doane are probably the best examples of this. Meanwhile, you see people who really have no talent getting huge pushes. Aside from Kendrick and London, I can't really think of many ring-talented individuals holding titles right now.

JR Do you think its a shame that people like CWK believe John Cena is quote "in a class by himself right now as far as performance in the ring"? Forget the StoneCold Dvd's and so on, these have all been rehashed constantly and I wanna see something fresh. Where are all the WCW footage!? Does Vince McMahon hate WCW so much, that even when he owns the rights to it he just wants to keep all the historic moments buried!? Personally I feel duped when I buy WWE compilation DVD's like the McMahon DVD or the Hogan anthology, since all those matches are on previous releases... JR, I'm not familiar with any of the bears players even though I live in Chicago, and I was standing right next to them at the Raw show. Can you please name all of them?

JR and CWK, I agree with CWK bout John Cena standing out, not as a wrestler or anything but as an in ring entertainer. Cause with Cena nobody thinks he's average they either love him or hate him. All the other top contenders for the WWE title DX/Edge/Orton are currently tide up in a feud with each other. Personally I think some of the guys in IC division should start getting a rub or a good push to become contenders for the WWE title. Im not saying for them to win, cause their not ready to hold the title just yet but the IC division is getting kind of full right now. Maybe Carlito he could have some good WWE title matches and then when he is ready he could win. I remember in the End\Beginning of the milleniums there's was about 8 - 10 contenders for the WWE title but everyone was on the same roster. Now, there's three rosters and three major title and if you add it all up presently with all the major title contenders, it still doesnt add up to like 99 - 2002. Can't wait till it happens again, and it would defintley rock for all of us fans if it happened on all 5 of the major shows. 1. RAW 2. Ring Of Honor 3. TNA 4. Smackdown 5. Hey J.R. - I've posted here couple of times as "Jobber" and was fortunate enough to get a reply to my question. First a comment - I think it's admirable that somebody who is as outspoken as yourself about their feelings about topics such as internet wrestling sites, other promotions, former colleagues, etc has made such an effort to have a presence online and field interrogatories as bold as some I have seen you address. A few questions: 1) What do you think of the Razorbacks this year? 2) Are there any wrestling websites that you like? 3) I thought Mark Copani was a tremendous talent and was shocked to see him leave to persue acting. It has been a while since he left, but he has yet to do anything. Is a working relationship between him and WWE Films an eventual possibility?

Jr, I have a few questions to ask of you, Now I being a long time wrestling fan since when I was a kid around 86-87, I have watched some good in ring technicians step into that ring, Such as Bret Hart, Dynamite Kid, Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Dory Funk Jr, and Ect. And I remember back when the Wwe title was held by Superstars who actually had talent (Excluding The Ultimate Warrior). I was wondering how do you feel about the Current Situation Involving John Cena being Wwe Champion, and the fact that Vince needs superstars ten times better in the ring then John to actually make him look Halfway Decent in The ring, and the fact that Superstars such as The Undertaker, Chris Benoit, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, King Booker, Rob Van Dam, have payed their dues ten times over, and are quite the in ring technicians, never get a real chance to be champion because Vince is handing it to People who Dont Desever it. And My Second Question is how do you Feel about Kurt Angle's Comments about the Wwe and the backstage Politics involved such as John Cena??

I just watched an old WWF Halloween special from 1985, that among other things featured wrestlers bobbing for apples and a pie eating contest (and not the poon tang variety). Wrestling was so much more fun back when it didn't take itself so seriously and wrestlers weren't all trying to be the most macho. Lose the muscle heads and bring back the hillbillies already! Think of all the fun movies that could have been made with the characters from that era too. Even Leaping Lanny Poffo would make a more compelling leading man than John Cena.

J.R., Why do you think it is that pro Football and basketball commentators place such emphasis upon where the players went to college/high school? You rarely, if ever, hear baseball broadcasters bring up the amateur experience of the Pitchers, Batters, or Fielders. Although lord knows they have more than enough to do it during the dead spots in a ball game. JR, I like your blog a lot because I learn a lot of backstage stuff about the business. I am a big fan of King Booker ever since I first saw him in WCW. I just want to say that it's good he's keeping the title - he knows what he's doing in the ring and he sells like crazy and cuts funny promos. All Hail King Booker! I have a question... Is Cena vs Orton the main event at WM 23? I just can't help but feel that that feud is being reserved for the biggest event next year... J.R. , John Cena seems to be in a class by himself right now as far as performance in the ring and on the mic . Triple H , HBK, and Edge are doing very well , but Cena has really stood out alot lately ,in my opinion, as a fan I have been feeling let down with Batista's usage/performance since he's been back on the SD! brand. who do you think are the future stars that are currently on the roster as well as TNA ?
