Tuesday Feedback….more to come!

Chris- OU vs. Army might be a nice game but OU vs. Notre Dame is big money. I don’t Edge/Orton with the nWo. That the old apples vs. oranges analogy. Ross- It would seem inevitable that The Undertaker and Kane would be teaming together at some point on Smackdown. I don’t like the chances of the opposition for The Deadman and Kane. SB- I have always thought that Christian was one of the most underrated stars in the WWE when he was there. He is a really solid hand who still seems to be searching for his “identity” which is not an indictment of Christian. He is a very intelligent and talented competitor. I have always liked him a great deal. Istria- I am a fan and have been for years of the cruiserweights. I grew up watching the NWA Junior Heavyweights compete lead by the incomparable Danny Hodge. I liked Jamie Noble the first time I saw him and loved his redneck demeanor and in ring skills. Jamie has not scratched the surface of how good he can be. Dave- I don’t know the status of Muhammad Hassan other than the last I heard he was in L.A. looking to get into the film business. He was effective for a time in the WWE but I don’t know if the “intangibles” (passion, etc) were in place to elevate this talent over the top. I could be dead wrong on that opinion but it is my perception. That certainly doesn’t indicate the young man was a bad person but this business is not cut out for everyone who tries it. Michael- I too love the Undertaker and know he is healthy and anxious to work more dates. I think we will see the Phenom more in the near future than we have in the recent past. A legend like the Undertaker doesn’t need to wrestle every week on TV. The WWE tours the UK in November but I am not sure about Dublin. Check out WWE.com for that info. My personal experiences in Dublin have always been great. Going on multiple “Pub Tours” has created some fun times. Stephan in the UK- There is no doubt that an Owen Hart DVD on the life of this great superstar and personal friend would be a great seller. It will be hard to get Owen’s peers to say anything bad about one of the most genuine and nicest people one will ever meet. Enjoy Manchester’s RAW in November. I generally take in the Chinese food in Manchester near the downtown area some refer to as “Chinatown”. The last time I was there I had a great dinner with Jerry Brisco and Pat Patterson on some wonderful Chinese cuisine. Dan L.- Elizabeth will most definitely be given consideration for the WWE Hall of Fame one day I would assume. When that will be I have no idea. Her ex-husband Macho Man Randy Savage also deserves to be in the WWE Hall of Fame from my perspective. ISE74- Bob Sapp is a mountain of a man and can certainly be “beast-like”. It would be interesting to see Bob in a pro wrestling ring, preferably the WWE and RAW, but how hungry is Sapp? Does he want to become the best talent on the show or to simply make money? I don’t know the answer to that question because I don’t know Bob that well but if it is the former then whoever nabs Sapps could win. Sapp has skills but would need to really apply himself to becoming a main event level contributor in a major company such as the WWE but Sapp has the physical gifts to do it. It really seems to me to be a matter of how badly Bob would want “it”. Passion and work ethic once again become viable intangibles. Sal- Corporal Kirchner is alive and well. Lots of similar questions this week: Will Hulk ever be back in a WWE ring? I would surmise, absolutely. It wouldn’t truly be a Wrestlemania w/o some sort of Hulkster exposure in my opinion. Hulk doesn’t need the cash or the wear and tear on his body but Hulk still has fun entertaining his “Hulkamaniacs”. What is Macho Man’s relationship with the WWE? This is not a WWE site. I don’t speak for nor do I represent the WWE in this forum. I have no idea what the relationship between Savage and the WWE may be but I don’t think that they have spoken at length in quite some time for what that’s worth. Randy is a complex person but was a helluva hand in his day. Savage sold lots of tickets and pay per views and drew significant TV ratings back in the day. Savage may have another match or two in him on the big stage. Who knows? Time will tell I suppose. I always admired Randy’s intensity. Talk about wound tight and passionate! Where are those guys today with the same traits who are in their 20s?? Do I watch wrestling on TV with a pad of paper and a pencil in hand? NO. I watch it as a fan and if I see something I want to follow up on I jot it down on a piece of paper but I don’t take notes throughout a broadcast. Many fans who follow the genre closely over analyze it, look at it too critically and take the fun out of the shows. If something occurs on a wrestling show that doesn’t stand out on its own without having to be remembered via a note pad, how compelling was the TV content in reality? Some have asked me about my former broadcast partner Bob Caudle who is still alive and well and living in North Carolina. Along with Lance Russell, Bob Caudle was one of the classiest and nicest men I have ever met in this whacky business. I have a few, funny Bob Caudle stories I will share with you in the future. Bob Caudle was a credit to the business and is healthy, as I understand it, and occasionally does appearances at wrestling reunion shows. Is there too much wrestling on TV? Not for me but I can see where it might be for the average Joe watching in North America. With the lack of quality depth in the business in general, I can easily see some people not watching all the shows that are available. Thanks for all the questions. Keep ‘em short and I will do my best to answer several more this week. Now please go browse our on line store!! “Baby” needs new shoes!

j.r in my veiw u r the best commentater eva to grace the wwe. just one question: Will they eva use undertaker to his fullpotential and put him as a heel if they do this and put him on raw and bring bk the ministry things will shake up immeadiaty
Sir, If you don't mind my asking are all the talented female wrestlers of this generation? It seems like Diva Search is the only way the WWE get's its female talent and what I've been seeing in womens' matches lately sort of speaks for the way that's going.
Hii, JR, I'm from Portugal. Here in Portugal, everybody loves wrestling, and it can be proved by the lots of wrestling blogs we had. I've got my own, it's www.wrestlingrevolution.blogspot.com , check it out and send a comment. I've got a question to you: What do ya think about the wrestling evolution evolution in Portugal ?(we already got 2 WWE shows scheduled to December, and a TNA show to January)
My late grampa always loved 'rasslin' back in its hay day of the 60s and 70s. He stopped watching in the early 80s sad to say. My question is how come they don't have more old men wrestlers like back then. Even just one would be a hoot and great for laughs. Every star now is totally in shape and buffed out to the max. Back then it was normal looking bodies...or even out of shape beer belly type stars that put people in the seats. They should bring back a new age Bob Backlund type character with no real charisma, flare or sizzle just to see what would happen. (and for fun) Get him to do the old wrestling moves like the air plane spin etc. Do you think it could would go over well with the fans? Thanks and my family and friends are big fan of your blogs...you should write a book.
I am from Toronto Ontario and grew up watching Billy Red Lions on Maple Leaf Wrestling. JR will they even put out a DVD set of Maple Leaf Wrestling? It would be a huge seller. My family and I went to a lot of those matches in the gardens and the WWF were definately filming each and every match so there has got to be LOTS and lot of footage of it. What ever happened to Billy Red Lions? He was one of our favorite announcers. Did you ever get the chance to meet him? A friend of mine says that when Jack Tunney decided to retire so did Billy Red unfortunately. Thanks....
Hey JR, ive posted and got a reply on here before.....i'm the kid from Australia. Anyway, I was just wondering, has Rob Conway lost a bet, made an enemy or something. The guys cannot buy a vicory. He finally made it to Raw a couple of weeks ago, only to lose in 3o seconds. Does he have any plans lined up for him at all. I may be his only fan, but I'm so puzzeled, his de-push has to be one of the worst in history. Also it was nice to see you comment on former WWE star and now TNA performer, Christian. If he was still around i think he may have been on top of Smackdown at the moment. Do you ever think he will return. Thanks for you time, cheers.
Hey J.R. Great work with the site. Do you think we will see Sunny back in a WWE ring anytime soon?
Hey JR, I just wanted to tell you I've been a loyal fan for years. Nobody will ever come close to touching you in play-byplay announcing ever in any professional, amateur, or even special sports and\or events. I just wanted to tell you how I felt about a couple things and I think I speak for all of us hardcore, loyal JR\WWE\Pro Wrestling Fans: So here it goes, just a few things we love, care and are very passionate about as fans.ALL OF US; 1. We all care about & love Brooke's CD 2. We care about & love KFED's CD 3. We care about & love "The Marine" 4. We care about & love WWE 24/7 5. And we definitly all love, appreciate, and care about anything that you wish to promote and ram down our throats every dag nam monday night. On Monday night, I felt like I was watching wrestlimg in the begining of the 3rd wrestling book pediod(The 1st being the 80's & the 2nd being the late 90's till early 2K's) With the lack of commercials and the amount of action. Which leads me into another sections of questions. Once again, I know I am speaking on behalf of all die hard and True/WWE/Pro Wrestling fans all around the world. 1. Why are there no sterotypes of English wrestlers? 2. Why have a talent like Nick Dinsmore who should not be on a brand be in that intelligent gimmick if your not going to keep him in OVW or Memphis? Let the keep growing his hair and don't have him so smart, dumb him down a little. 3. Is the reason Raw is still filmed live after all these years, because Vince and WWE Managment know that Smackdown and ECW just keep getting shown up week after week, even house shows? 4. Are you as excited and love the original idea of pairimg Kane and the Undertaker together for the first time in October/November 2006? Cause Kane and his brother the Undertaker have never been paired together in October of 2006 let alone November 2006, I know all of us fans love this original idea. I will with a doubt get idolized due to these hard hitting questions and comments but i suggest realize that I am not creative and it does not take a creative person to know what the fans want to see. For example CENA NOT WITH THE BELT. AWESOME, he’s like a modern day Hogan with him sticking it to the very tiny crowd of competitors and having knocked them all on their asses with only five moves NOT SIX 5, that's better than Superman, Batman, and Spiderman all together lined up in a Super Dark Spidy Sensed Row. Only those 5 MOVES OF DOOM(Maybe less sometimes) and the match is over. It's not a bad thing, like Martha Stewart says, It's a good thing." He makes the opposition run scared to where they can't see him and says NEVER USE A "QUEER AS FOLK" NAME ON THE INTERNET LIKE "DREAMBOY3000" OR THE 5 MOVES OF DOOM WILL BE COMING TO A THEATER NEAR YOU AS THE SEQUEL TO THE MOVIE WE ALL LOVE TO LOVE niggity niggity no doubt "The Marine" world life to creamtoy6900 I mean let's get a cure for homies vanarial creamjoy whoops my bad again dreamboy3000 i can be a cyber guy too LOL LOL LOLOLOLOLOLOLLOLOLLOLOLOLOLLOLLOL HA cough cough he he heeeeyyy Peace In Da Middle East Rain In Spain ABC yah to dah XYZ yah
Hi JR, I have recently re-watched my entire wrestling catalogue. I have come to notice just how good you are. I always enjoy your commentary but now realise you are a class apart. What stays in my mind is the 2005 rumble and the bemusement and sarcasm that was in your voice in saying "...and the chairman is sitting in the ring" i laugh repeatedly any time i watch it. You have been and continue to be the best about. Stick around
Heh JR. What is your opinion of Shawn Michaels and Triple H. Are they now together in your opinion to wind down there careers so to speak? Take care jr and will tune in on monday for 701 show!
JR, I've been a wrestling fan for many years now. I don't know if you've already answered this, but what would you need to do to get a job producing or writing/booking for a promotion like WWE? What degrees and skills would you need? Also, what are the chances of getting a job in this field with WWE, TNA or other promotions?
I don't think there is enough wrestling on tv for us fanatics who enjoy wrestling for the entertainment that it is. I wish I could see more of the independent wrestling they have up north and on the east coast. They don't show that down here in Texas. I am definitely going to be at the next PPV here in San Antonio and hope to get to meet you. GOD BLESS AND HELLO FROM SAN ANTONIO.
Nice write up JR I was just watching some of your work in WCW and watched the WCW/Japan Supershow, what would ya think of WWE bringing in Jushin Lyger for a match? The guy is a legend and can still put on a good match with a guy like Noble.
What is your take on Hulk STILL wrestling? After all he is in the Hall of Fame, shouldn't it be your in because your retired? Also, Do you think there is a chance of one more Rhodes/Flair match?
Hello , JR. Nice Column as always. They are truly a must read. I have two questions really. First, is the WWE ever thinking of doing a tour in the middle east and in countries like Bahrain and the UAE or Kuwait. They did them before in the mid 90's and they did big business but they have suddenly stopped! Any reason for that ? Second, you may have heard this, what is the status of Brock Lesnar these days and do you think he'll end up back in WWE? He came back in Japan and there are rumors that he's going to MMA. But I think it's a risk to be honest. Sure, he will get loads of money and he'll probably do well. But what if he doesn't do well ? What if he gets knocked out repeatedly ? His tough man reputation will really soar and his value to pro wrestling companies, in my opinion, will decrease. Of course, the opposite can be true. If he did well in MMA, he could be an even bigger star. So what do you think ? Is it worth it? One more question, sorry about that, will you watch Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle and what do you think of the upcoming match ? Personally, I'm scared for Kurt. Thanks, Nawaf
JR, Did you have a chance to read the Bischoff book? Any thoughts on his comments directed at you? I've been watching wrestling since I've been six years old (born in '77), and next to Gordon Solie, you're the best. YOU need to be in the WWE Hall of Fame!
JR, Any chance we will see newer action figure of you released? Also, what is your take on Sylvester Turkey? This guy really resembles one of my all time favorites, Bruiser Brody. With his amatuer wrestling and MMA background as well as looking like Brody I would think this guy could go far.
J.R, First, thanks for the many years of great calls. Raw would never seem right without you. I'm from Green Bay originally, so naturally I'm a big football fan. When the XFL was announced I was hoping you would be doing play by play, and was glad to see you get the chance there a few times. Question: I know Mick Foley is working on a third book, but when do you think he might reappear on WWE programming?
hello there JR do you know if dan spivy is still wrestling?i heard there is a new wrestler with same typle of gimmick of waylon mercy coming to WWE soon, any truth to that sir?
Hey J.R, I was just wondering, if you can pick any active current talent that is not in WWE right now(UFC,TNA,MMA,ROH,AAA), who would it be?
Obviously, a lot of people who watch ECW are hoping that there will be an additional hour extended to their television tapings. If or when this happens, would you envision the Television and Tag Team championships being reinstituted? Tag team wrestling is dying, so if they went without it, so be it. But I really feel that ECW would be better able to promote their young upstarts with a secondary title.
J.R. Thanks a ton for answering my question on Muhammed Hassan, just want to add one more part to it. I re-read the interview after his release. He stated that wrestling was in his back pocket and the door was open for a return sometime down the line. If Mark were to rekindle his passion for wrestling, decided he wanted to make a comeback, and WWE re-hired him, do you believe he would still act out the Muhammed Hassan character? Thank a ton, you're great, keep up the good work. Best of Luck with your business.
hello JR, i was reading a letter in on your site writen by someone.talking about indian death lock after reading me and some of my friends here in vancouver canada would like to know little bit history about indian death lock and some of the other known holds that are still being used today from the past regards darren and friends
JR What were your favorite matches to call. personaly, I feel that your announcing during the legendary Mankind Vs Undertaker Hell in a Cell match was your best. As far as I can tell, your announcing style has focused more on the story side of a match, and since that match was perhaps the most emotional battle ever in a wrestling ring you were at your best. Also, are there any wrestlers that you feel that could have been huge, or at least bigger than they were, with the right push (or any push for that matter) Take care Raven Effect
Hello J.R., First off thanks for all you do for the wrestling industry. I think you are the best play-by-play in the business. Will HHH and HBK be bringing in some mid-card talents to DX in an effort to get them over?
will we ever see sting in a wwe ring or in the hall of fame because he deserves to b he is probably the most famous wrestler alive neva to wrestler in a wwe ring and is a multi time world champ in what ever promotion he has been involved in and it would be a damn shame if he was overlooked just becasue he hasn't appeared in the wwe
Hi, Jr, thanks for all the responses you get through. Whats your opinion on Kane? I often hear he is one of the most respected guys in the WWE and that he is a true company man. He always seems to be willing to put over younger talent and he doesnt seem to possess any ego. Always seems to make the best out of a situation also, as shall we sat he has been involved in some questionable angles in the past. Just wanted to get your view on the big red machine. I'm a huge fan of his and i hope he gets used right on Smackdown. Hopefully a World title run for the big man. He certainly deserves a long and substantial run with a world belt after his career. Many thanks, Jr, Enjoy your day Lewis in the Uk
Hey J.R!! WIll the Tag Team division on each of RAW & Smackdown ever be builtup a little more than it is now? It sucks only ever having one tag team challenger for whoever the champs are at any given time. It'd be nice to see a handful of teams on each side going for the belts. I miss the days of Demolition, Dream Team, Rougeau's, Rockers, Hart Foundation, Young Stallions. Etc. What a tag division back in the 80's & early 90's.
When AJ Styles had a breif stint in WWF, did anybody at the time think he'd turn into what he is today? Do you even remember him back in the WWF?
Hi JR, I was just wondering who you rate as the finest British wrestler of all time? Moreover, what do you think of Paul Burchill? I trained with him briefly when he was just starting out - he's got the kind of agility in a big man I've not seen since Bam Bam Bigelow. One final question that's been niggling me... Could you please tell Tony Chimel that Belfast is in NORTHERN Ireland? It sounds terrible hearing him announce Finlay as being from the wrong country every week. All the best, Andy.
hey jr, thanks for replying to my question. 1st. I think when you go on your pub tour stop by the Davy Byrnes pub! 2nd. i've got two new question for you: 1. Do you think the RAW and Smackdown Brands will become one brand (like it was before 2002) ever again? 2. Who would you want in TNA to come to the WWE?
Jim Ross can you please tell me why the WWE product is so crap at the moment ? I know this probably will get ignored with no reply on your website. However it would be appreciated as many people think the same as me. For a start..... 1. We don't care about Brooke's cd. 2. We don't care about KFEDs album. 3. We don't care about the marine. 4. We don't care about WWE 24/7. 5. Infact we don't care about anything that you wish to promote and ram down our throats every god damn monday night. Was i watching TNA monday night ? I must have been with the amount of commericals and lack of match action. Which leads me onto alot more questions like..... 1. Why is every English gimmick a stereotype ? 2. Why have a talent like Nick Dinsmore who could carry a brand be in that stupid gimmick if your not going to push him ? Let the guy cut is hair and have a shave. 3. Is the reason Smackdown still not live after all these years, because Vince doesn't want his precious Raw shown up more then it already is ? 4. What is it with putting Kane and Undertaker together again for the 1,000th time ? I will no doubt get ignored but i suggest you check out the creative section of my forum (amongst the other sections) to know what the fans want to see. For example CENA NOT WITH THE BELT. Christ he's like a modern day Hogan with him sucking up to the crowd and having about five moves (including stuff which wouldn't hurt my gran).
wen will you answer me comments hopefully soon
hi jr im anthony from freeland pa one day i like to see afa the wild samoam u ever see afa or sika in the wwe hall of fame jr
Are there any wrestlers on the indy circuit or in ovw who you see been a big star in the future?
JR, I had a question for you in terms of personal tastes...do you think it's time pro wrestling tried to do more to emphasize in-ring drama? (I ask this because in terms of technology, the entrances, the themes, and everything else has gone really high tech...but the matches themselves look the same as they did 10 years ago except with better sound.)
I don't know how often you have seen KC James since he is on Smackdown, but I saw him up close at a few OVW House Shows and my question is this. Is Bobby Eaton aware that he has been cloned? Seriously, I have never seen a wrestler so closely resemble amother wrestler.
Hey J.R in my opinion you and the King are the best commentators in the business. Monday when you made a remark to the king about hosting many more Raw's to come he paused and never gave a reply. I'm hoping he isnt considering moving to another brand or retiring from the commentator position. You have been around the business for a long time and seen a lot of storylines but I have to ask if you have seen a more rediculous one than the Umaga and Jackass cast skit pulled a couple of weeks ago? I mean using the Jackass cast as wrestlers is just plain stupid b/c they arent going to sell themselves as well and get as big of a response as a normal wrestler would. Using the Jackass cast for humor was a great idea, that combined with the antics of DX, Edge, and Orton spells entertainment at its best.
"I don’t like the chances of the opposition for The Deadman and Kane." I find it hilarious how you throw in a little kayfabe for the hell of it, JR. LOL. The Macho Man has ZERO matches left in him. Did you see his "blink an eyelash and you'll miss it" appearance in TNA? He gassed himself and lost his balance trying to apply a sleeper hold. That was the only move he did and he looked about 96 years old doing it. Nevertheless, he DOES belong in the Hall of Fame WITHOUT question. A 3 disc dvd set chronicling his career in Memphis, the WWF/E, and WCW would be a huge seller, too.
Hi JR, Thank you very much with your response. I'm not sure about yourself, but I find the entire industry in a very interesting state. There is a certain change in the air and I think it's a really good thing. The other major televised promotion has a completely different image than WWE. While to me, WWE is going along the more 'entertainment' route with cross marketing, celebrity endorsements and branching into film, the other is driving home the fact that it is ALL about Wrestling. My question is that, despite WWE doing very well in these other avenues, do you think that all this cross promotion and cross marketing is driving away the old school fan, and do you think the other promotion is attracting more old school fans who simply like old style and athletic wrestling?
Hey JR! You discussed Owen Hart and I too agree that it would be a great seller (I know I'd buy it -- Just watching The Bret vs. Owen Steel Cage Match at SSlam 94 on the History of WWE Championship DVD gave me great memories). Do you think he will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame at some time? If that did happen, do you think Bret would come back to do the induction?
Hey JR how are you doing? I just have 2 questions for you: 1-Did you watched TNA’s PPV Bound For Glory and what you thought of the PPV? 2-What do you think of Sting being the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion?
Thank You so much for getting back to me JR did you ever have the pleasure of knowing Elizabeth sometime during your career I have never heard anyone that knew her say a bad thing about her.
JR...this may seem like a pointless question, but I've noticed your fondness for football. If you had your choice when you were younger, would have rather been a play by play guy for footbal as a career or wrestling?
JR I enjoy your oppinions and think your personal insight makes this site worth keeping up with so thank you for that. I have a question if you could create a "dream" match using wrestlers of any era who would you choose to be in the ring? Thanks for your time and thanks for this site too.
IS MONTY BROWN GONNA BE IN WWE
