Post UK Trip Email Feedback

Thanks for all the feedback and for visiting our site. It is greatly appreciated. We are growing in leaps and bounds which is a tribute to those of you who support what we are trying to do. We are still working on international shipping issues and hope to have that matter addressed very soon. I also want to thank all of you who have purchased any of our 4 sauces and our merchandise. We plan on adding more merchandise to our on line store soon. Plus soon we will be adding holiday food items like Smoked Turkeys and Hams plus Smoked Prime Rib and Pork Loin. These will be shipped to you and are absolutely out of this world. It is exactly what my family and friends will be enjoying during the holiday season. Stay tuned for that major addition to our site coming any day now.
Here we go with answering some of your emails:
Dreamboy 3000- The tone of your email indicated that I did not enjoy coming to the UK which is downright ignorant. Why didn’t I come earlier? If you feel compelled to know it was because I have a life outside of wrestling and had plans to attend an OU football game with Stone Cold Steve Austin who was a guest in my home. I have been coming to the UK for years and years and have never had a bad experience. Unfortunately, these trips are always too short as my previous work schedule was somewhat demanding and now I have a private life that I enjoy. Wrestling is no longer 100% my life but I still love it. If wrestling is your total life, then I suggest you diversify because if anyone makes wrestling their entire life they are bound to experience many negative days because of being so one dimensional. Same goes for any vocation or hobby.
J Hood- I am really pleased you liked the Roundtable Discussion on 24/7. It was a hoot to do and I hope I am asked to be a part of the next one that is produced.
Greg- I have no idea what to expect in the ECW Elimination Chamber as this will be the first for the brand. I hope it is different than the traditional elimination chamber however. I am sure it will end up being a bloody, crash and burn experience.
Indiana Greg- Notre Dame is a different animal since Weiss took over the head job it seems. The media loves the Fighting Irish which sometimes annoys me. Not the Irish but the media. I applaud you working in the Indy’s as a wrestler. I don’t think the era of “bad bodies” will ever return but I am not sold on oiled up dudes who look good in 8X10s and can’t wrestle a lick. I do think all wrestlers should be in excellent shape and look like an athlete. Hang in there and just get better at what you do. But you have to be in good shape and not look like the guy next door.
Jon- I am personally an advocate of less talk and more wrestling/physicality. Not enough wrestlers are great talkers these days to keep my short attention span. Actual wrestling is seemingly becoming a lost art form and hopefully the youngsters who decide to make it their life’s work will become fundamentally sound and truly understand their craft and what it takes to be great. It takes more than falling thru tables and taking heavy chair shots that’s for sure.
Al Bundy- My best to Peg. My favorite TV shows other than wrestling would have to be “The Soprano’s” and “Deadwood”. I also enjoy watching Poker on TV and I catch myself watching the Food Network especially when they feature BBQ. And of course Oklahoma football!
Adrianna- Women’s wrestling seems to be being de-emphasized to me. That doesn’t mean the Divas are going away any time soon but the emphasis to actually be able to wrestle doesn’t seem to be prevalent. I think because wrestling appeals primarily to young males, based on the TV ratings info I see, that beautiful young women will always be around the product. I just don’t seem them being asked or being able to go out and have a compelling 30 minute wrestling match like they could a generation or two ago. I am not endorsing this change but this is my perception.
Aussie Fan- I have said many times that I like C.M. Punk and feel he has a bright future. The question is will Punk reach his full potential on ECW or will he find it on RAW or Smackdown? Time will tell but Punk is a bona fide keeper, a talented young man. The ECW brand is one I enjoy watching on TV but it needs a great deal of attention while it is getting established.
George Jones- I have drank many a beer to your music and I don’t have a clue as to what I would book for Wrestlemania 23 as I sit here but it would probably go against most popular trends. Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe feels like it is coming a little early but that’s just an opinion of one who doesn’t follow that brand as closely as I am sure you do.
Neal- If the business in general was thinking and looking long term then getting back to basics would not be an issue. The basics or fundamentals cannot be stressed enough. I will never own a wrestling company but if I did it would feature compelling athletic contests between great athletes or at least that would be the goal if I could find enough men and women who actually knew how to wrestle the style I personally enjoy.
Joe- I have said here many times that Randy Savage deserves to be in the WWE Hall of Fame. Thanks for your kind words, too.
Dude- Nice Email. Very logical and with a common sense approach.
Josh- Check out WWE.com as I think the WWE offers significant military discounts to active military personnel with current ID’s. I sure see a lot of service men and women at RAW more often than not. You can always contact the box office too.
Raed- NO, I did not realize the anniversary date of the Bret Hart “Screw Job”. But thanks for reminding me. I had moved on…shame on me.
Frank/Chicago- I was just in your city yesterday! O’Hare is lovely this time of year. I think John Cena is one helluva talent and has an unbelievable work ethic and a ton of character. For some fans that will account for zilch but John is a work in progress who is going to end up being one of the all time best before he hangs it up. Cena is an athlete and has heart and with those two attributes one usually doesn’t easily fail in this business to be honest with you. If you do fail with these qualities it’s usually self inflicted failure.
Jim Devlin- I hope you had a blast in Glascow.I heard it was snowing there. I know Roddy Piper was looking forward to that stop but those plans got derailed thanks to Edge, Orton and a kidney stone.
Joseph- I don’t think I will ever be in actor James Garner’s league in Norman or any where else to have a statue erected in my honor. It is a humorous thought though. I can just see the pigeon droppings on my hat!
Abel- Seeing Maria “wrestle” Umaga was not one of my favorite “matches” of the year. Bischoff should be ashamed of himself.
Kevin- I remember receiving the Stunner in Louisville Gardens very well. I think I was the first “civilian” to get the Stunner from Stone Cold if my memory serves me correctly. The Louisville Gardens has seen some amazing wrestling over the years and is my friend Jim Cornette’s favorite arena.
Wayne- I hope you enjoy your visit to Oklahoma and you can get our sauces at Louie’s Sports Bar and Grill in west Norman just off 36th street between Robinson and Main. Of course you can order than off our site, too.
Matt V- The chances of Smackdown going live is essentially non existent. It is just too costly and would completely murder the touring schedule. It’s not going to happen in my opinion.
Brad K- Greetings to a Buckeye fan. Good luck Saturday. Realism is a key to wrestling being a special entity as opposed to being a poorly orchestrated side show. Realism is imperative on any wrestling based TV vehicle in my view.
Jay in Maine- Indeed old #33 is a special guy. He may not be what you want but he is damn sure all you want and could run like the wind for the Sooners back in the day. Orange Bowl MVP 1981!
Jobbed- No, Stone Cold has never broken anything in our home but probably a little wind. Nor have I have I ever been accosted in public by disgruntled wrestling fans. Most people are smart enough to know that I can’t solve their problems with the business. I am sure that I have some of the same problems with the biz as many of the fans do.
Excel/Newcastle- My schedule is so diverse nowadays and I have so many projects going that I am physically unable to attend the live events for international tours. If I planned for them far enough in advance then I might be able to attend which would be a blast. I think Big Show is having back problems and his schedule is currently lessened.
Christian- The WWE has talked to Bob Backlund on more than one occasion about being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame but Bob has declined in the past. Hopefully, Bob will change his mind in the near future perhaps as early as 2007. Backlund has always been thought of as a Hall of Famer.
Jaffer- If you want a job doing commentary in the WWE I would suggest you get some experience on the Indy scene, on local radio and local TV, and develop a set of skills before the H.R. Department at the WWE ever receives your demo tape. I know the company is always looking for new talent in all areas which is smart. Guys like me don’t last forever and it has been made relatively clear I am not the ideal broadcaster for most national companies.
Spiceyboy- Chris Benoit is one of the top 5 or so in ring talents in the world. Need I say more? One can only assume Chris will be in the World Title hunt much sooner than later. I have great respect for Chris Benoit and what he brings to the table. Young wrestlers would be well served to use Chris as a role model.
John- Hoss, I will indeed look inward and evaluate if I am a hypocrite. Perhaps you missed my point in addressing the negativity I receive regarding the business. If your opinion is such then so be it as I have no issues with anyone’s opinion. However, when people take me to task personally for business ills I have no cure for and can’t solve, then it gets a little old reading the same stuff over and over. If the folks who visit our site want to express their opinion, have at it. But including me in the equation for solving their perceived issues is futile, Hoss.
Big Stevie C- Generally speaking anyone signing any young, Hart family member is good business from where I sit. Aptitude is so important for success in wrestling and the Hart kids should have a wealth of aptitude. To the best of my knowledge Teddy Hart has not signed a contract with anyone but I could be wrong on that one. I have no clue as to any list of banned moves from any company. I have never seen this list. I guess my favorite finishing maneuvers would be the Stunner and the Sharpshooter. However, some say the most powerful weapon in the biz is an eraser.
Ronald- Yes, OU can make it to a BCS game if they win out and Texas loses to Texas A&M. One can only hope. Our sauces are not all BBQ sauces and are available primarily off our site in our on line store. We are working on grocery distribution but that is a work in progress.
Jeral- I have read of the furor of the TNA cancellation in Connecticut but have no info on the matter. I did read where the city had issues because required paperwork was not signed. I would virtually guarantee you no upper level executive at the WWE was even aware of the event especially the Chairman. To assume the WWE had anything to do with this matter is Oliver Stone conspiracy theory stuff. It does make for good gossip and it got us talking.
Thanks everyone and keep your emails coming. Please take a minute to visit our store and do a little shopping. Remember the Holidays are just around the corner. Be well everybody.
J.R.
