Danny- I have enjoyed Sabu’s unique style of wrestling for years. He has certainly put his body on the line time and time again. Simply in my opinion I feel Sabu is at his best when he is in matches with physical stipulations. Brawling and weaponry are two of Sabu’s strengths. Derrick- Chris Benoit is simply one of the greatest wrestlers and finest people the business has ever known. Chris is deserving of any championship in existence. Raven Effect- I, Jim Ross, has “Vince’s ear”. Perhaps you’ve had one too many chairshots. Jamie- I have an interest in writing a book chronicling my career but not just yet. I think to be totally honest about my long and lucky career in wrestling that I should not be an employee of a wrestling company IF I want to tell the complete and honest version of my experiences. I will never write a book if I can’t be 100% honest. Finally, the King in his prime was one of the great in ring performers of all time. A great talker, a great fan favorite and a great villain. I know I sound biased but take a look at some of the classic Jerry Lawler matches from Jerry’s prime. William-The challenges of starting a new wrestling promotion and maintaining it based on today’s production standards, etc are essentially overwhelming. I don’t hold out much hope for there ever to be more than a small handful of full time wrestling promotions that actually make enough money to keep their doors open. Wyn- I think A.J. Styles is a talented young man. I have no idea if he will ever wrestle for the WWE. Matt- As best I can tell Roddy is more than holding his own with his battle with cancer. Keep Hot Rod in your prayers. Joel L.- Wrestling websites are like any other website that follows a particular genre. Sometimes they are right but often times they aren’t. My issue with them is that “rumor” is actually reported as “news” on some sites. In general, I think these sites get too much credit and too much blame for things that allegedly adversely affect business. Bottom line is that many of these sites seem to get bad info from their “sources” who may have an unobjective agenda. Plus, people who live in American have the right to earn a living in any legitimate matter they choose. That’s a good thing. Lewis- Despite the fact that “Kane” once BBQ’ed me, I still find him to be a true gift to the profession. Scott- I wrote on an earlier blog my thoughts on the WWE Hall of Fame as I have been getting many emails regarding it. I certainly have my opinions to who should be inducted just as anyone else but I am not in a position to affect the selection process positively or negatively. I do love the function nonetheless. I do hope they hold the list of inductees down to 7-8 so everyone has the appropriate time to speak “their piece”. Desmond-Matt Cappotelli is a wonderful young man who has more guts than just about anyone I know. Matt’s battle with brain cancer is on going but I will assure you Matt will deal with it thru the grace of God and the courage the Good Lord provides him. I feel in my heart Matt will win this one! Anthony-I really enjoy Divas who can wrestle like Victoria and Mickie James among others. I am hopeful that we will see more of that type of female talent on RAW as time goes on. Brock- Sounds like you were PO’ed when you emailed me. Sorry about that. If you don’t enjoy the product then you might want to watch it less or amended expectations. I have addressed the sign issue and it is not worth rehashing. I am not sure who you perceive as being the “enemy” but I can assure you it isn’t me. Katherine- I can only assume that the reason the Divas wear “racy attire’ as you term it is to cater to the primary demographic which is men 12-17 and men 18-34. You apparently are not in that demo. I could make a Jerry Lawler joke here but I won’t. Callum- I had a blast working in Smoky Mountain Wrestling. I loved working with Les Thatcher and the creative genius Jim Cornette and a bunch of “hungry” wrestlers. It was a fun time for me. I can’t wait to watch some of the old tapes someday on WWE 24/7. Liam- I ASSUME the post Wrestlemania Raw will be in Detroit. That seems to be a trend and it gives the folks who travel a great distance to see the PPV and a Monday Night Raw on the same trip. I like it. Tommy- Cryme Tyme seems to be getting more comfortable on camera and I am anxious to see them wrestle more as time goes by. They are an entertaining duo but the bottom line to me is what they can do over the long haul in the ring. Gareth- I agree Victoria’s character has really jumped off the screen the past few weeks. Chris A- I have not seen Angle-Joe 2. How much BBQ can a southern boy eat?? No disrespect meant but I seem to have less free time these days than ‘ol guy should have. Lance- In ring psychology is becoming a lost art form. Many of the greatest wrestlers I have seen over the past 30 years just had “it”. “It” is not manufactured and can’t be anything but authentic. Simply put some guys have “it” and some don’t and many never fully understand the fundamental art of storytelling. For example, crashing and burning should only be an element in great story telling not the focal point of it. The understanding of wrestling holds all many styles should basically understood by any one who aspires to be a wrestler in today’s market place. It’s called product knowledge and with product knowledge comes the chance one might understand the business better thus acquire the art of in ring psychology. Stevereno- Sorry you did not enjoy the ECW PPV. I am still making the time to watch it myself as I was in the air when it took place. I fully respect your passion for the product but my simple advise would be for you to exhale, detach from your angst, and move forward in a positive manner. Trust me, stress is bad business. I’m not kidding you. Charles 3- Your rumor of a Rocker Reunion is new news to me. Highly unlikely as Gorilla Monsoon used to say. Fletch- Mickie James is excellent now and should just keep getting better. I respect that she likes in ring physicality. Mickie is a little bit of a throw back when it comes to her approach to wrestling. Plus, she’s cute. Even ‘Ol J.R. still likes “cute”. Andrew- If Chyna and X-Pac were at a recent RAW I sure did NOT see them. And I would have. Is this more internet stuff or merely fertilizer? Matt- I like the unique approach that C.M. Punk brings to the ring and have said many times that I felt like Punk would be a star in the WWE in the future. Selfishly, I would love to see Punk compete on Raw but as I said, selfishly. DXfan 101- Uh, no I don’t think the “Million Dollar Challenge” will be accepted or even acknowledged. Do I like Mr. McMahon? I assume I have the same opinion of Mr. McMahon that he has of me. Thanks for participating and we will do this again by the weekend. J.R.

JR, I sure hope the rumor about you feeling you let fans down on Monday isn't true. If you feel that way you are wrong- you proved that you are a true hall of famer, and I was very happy to see you inducted. You are one of the few that is in the class of Gordon Solie among announcers, and have been just as important to wrestling as anyone who is in or will be in the hall of fame. Thank you for the past 20 years or however long it has been.
Hello J.R. I have been a fan of yours since I started watching wrestling several years ago, and I now have question. I know you probably can't say too much about this for business reasons, but do you take disdain in putting over certain wrestlers? John Cena has mediocre mic skills but limited wrestling skills. He seems like one of those wrestlers with 5 or 6 big moves with punches and kicks. Same goes for Umaga, the Great Kahli and even Jeff Hardy.
(NOTE: Mike, you need to grow up.) JR, Really Enjoy Reading your blogs. I'm still looking forward to another British Tour!! Was just wondering if there is any word or speculation brewing in the WWE Camp about a return of Chris Jericho? Also, who's gimmicks are you really loving right now? All the Best for Christmas and the New Year! Amy [Leicester, England]
JR Please tell us all what the status with Marty Jannetty is? He claims that he is still working for WWE but all wrestling websites say that he was fired in September and even in WWE magazine it's saying he was fired in September. I feel really sorry for Marty and I hope he can get his demons in check and do some really positive work in the wrestling world. Peace out.
So HHH doesn't like CM punk "King of the Indies". I geuss this means CM punk won't have a good future. Well I suppose he could always follow RVD and head to "True" wrestling, TNA TNA TNA TNA TNA TNA ...
Hey everybody, Hi J.R. I have a question and a statement, First off, Why does WWE creative not want or think EcW can be a ratings draw with "original True ECW stars"? I thought the whole point of bringing ECW back was to attract Real ECW fans back, not push them away.Does Vince and Kevin Dunn not think RVD draws? And why did WWE falsley advertise Sabu being in the E Chamber and then pull him out, (was Stephanie afraid of having too many "real" ecw stars on the show?)
Watched ECW last night, and Lashley needs lots of mic "training." Lasley getting the ECW title was hugh mistake! Hope RVD regains the ECW title. Then, a fued with C M Punk/RVD would be "spectacular!" Two fast wrestlers with plenty of athletic abilities. Reviewing Mon. night Raw, Washington, DC, could hear plenty of "Cena sux," chants! Finally, all 'round the Int. talk about Randy Orton, Randy announced last year He was engaged, Has Orton got married yet? Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Chris B.
hey JR i was re reading over some of the comments made, some in particular *cough* joe fish *cough* seems to act as if they are in the business. i in no way am in the business i just love wrestling, i live in New Zealand and it isnt easy to catch wrestling everyweek. i could be wrong, but he goes on about why eddie guerrero is in the hall of fame instead of owen hart? ultimate warrior? well i always thought the wrestler or wrestlers family have to agree to be in the hall of fame? its not the WWE that just decides whos going to be in or not otherwise im sure owen hart would have already been in the hall of fame. Also i know my opinion doesnt mean squat but i thought instead of remaking something dead why not make something all new? it would save on a lot of negative comments left by old die hard fans that cant get over the past. As of right now that armageddon ladder match is probably my favourite match of the year. that does suck for joey mercury though, just getting back then immediately back on the shelf but it did make the match exciting with that amount of blood lol. well thats enough said, keep on doing what you do best JR
JR- something I've been hoping for is for WWE to regionalize its three brands. This would allow the PPV's to be more exciting, and maybe feature guys that we might not see all of the time. My main reason for wanting this is for the well being of the wrestlers (yes, I said wrestlers) themselves. Cutting down on the travel and number of shows could result in fewer careers being cut short, and a better family life for them as well. On that note- I'd like to see a cut down in the specialty matches- too many for them to mean anything
Seeing Edge smash HHH, when HHH was going for his sledhammer (Raw Dec.18) was spectacular! Randy Orton got his well deserved revenge on the "Game!" Been two years for Orton, and after HHH beat Orton (with the help of Flair, Batista and a chair) seems Orton was put on the "back-burner!" Randy now getting into being "the dirtyest," wrestler on Raw, "Yes!" Randy battering HHH after Edge, watching the blood flow on HHH, reminds me of the brutal-bloody beating Evolution gave Randy at his Victory celebration beating Benoit on Raw following night after "Summer-Slam!" "Chickens come home to roost!" Just hope Orton/Edge hype con'ts.
To whoever had the idea to change the Tag Team match at Armageddon into a Ladder match, send them my thanks because that was an incredible match.
Hey J.R How are you :-) Just a few things if i may first of all i don't know if you see it but i certainly see it but Chris Masters is getting worse and worse every week at first when i first saw Chris Masters i loved him i even wanted him to win the Elimination Chamber haha but i think the time he had off really hurt him and his constant lack of booking as of late hasn't done much for him either he has had a few good runs here and there but they really need to do somethign with this Chris Masters character while he is still breathing otherwise it looks like he will be the next chum on the release list! I know you can't answer this for obvious reason's but would i be shooting in the right direction if i said that those two bodyguard dudes on ECW were Doug and Danny Basham that's just what have i heard whether you can verify it or not i don't know but try and hit me back on that. And last but not least i have also heard some rumors about Wrestlemania 23 and i really wish i had not of read them because if it's true im going to cry there was talks about Show vs. Hogan however due to both of there complicating injuries i don't think that would happen also John Cena vs. HHH Babyface vs. Babyface i really dislike that idea also and the only idea i liked at all was Batista vs. Undertaker however i would love to see The Undertaker go over but unfortunately i don't think that is going to happen unfortunately anyway thanks for your time and sorry for the long email. Ciao
how come ken kennedy hasnt gotten a world title run yet?
Hey JR, first of i want to wish you and everyone at wwe a happy christmas. Ive read on a few websites that alot of the WWE talent are considering TNA as an option when thier contracts expire, do you think that any top name superstars will follow Kurt Angle into TNA? And do you think the WWE will suffer it happens? Sure TNA has the lighter work schedule but it shouldnt be about that, it should be about thier passion for the sport! I can honestly say that i dont watch TNA simply becasue WWE is where its at! Keep up the great work on Monday Nights and ill look forward to seeing you in the UK in 2007!
Hey J.R., I was wondering if you ever forsee samoa joe coming to the wwe and having a fued with cm punk as they did in ROH. Have you seen any of the matches they had in Ring Of Honor. I have been a wrestling fan since I was twelve, and I am now twenty two. I think Samoa Joe and CM Punk are the best things to happen to wrestling for quite some time. You can feel the energy and charisma when these two wrestlers are in the ring. Cm punk is one of a kind, and I think he definitely has what it takes to be a superstar. I wish Samoa Joe was in the wwe so he could teach John Cena a few things in the ring. (LOL) I actually heard they are good friends and when joe was in ROH Cena tried to have him signed by WWE. I’m not a Cena fan because I think wwe limits his in ring moves. I think he could be a better wrestler if he were allowed to do moves we don’t see in every one of his matches. Such as Samoa Joe, and CM Punk. I wish CM Punk would be alotted more in ring time with his matches. I have been reading that RVD and Sabu have been really distrought with the WWECW as of late. I think it’s too bad that the marijuana bust has lead to a decrease of a push for both Sabu and RVD. I think if anything WWE should allow RVD and Sabu to talk about reefer on WWECW. Have it be part of their character as RVD did in the old ECW. Out of all the matches and wrestlers you have seen and been around. Who are your top 10 favorite wrestlers of all time and why. Along with that what are your top five favorite matches, and moments in wrestling. I would also love to see a samoa joe vs cm punk vs john cena match at a wrestlemania. I have heard cena vs orton at mania is in talks, but I think CM PUNK vs CENA would be much better. I would love to see cm punk become a wwe champion. He came from the independents, paid his dues, and worked his ass off to get to where he is now. The thing that gets me most about Cena is that the year before he won the championship at mania against jbl, benoit and guerrero won their titles. Those men paid there dues and it took them nearly two decades to get the title they so very much deserved. Cena and Batista are in the bussiness FIVE years if that and have a title the following year. I think that’s crap, but what can you do other then boo the wrestler for something the promoter chose. I know it is a lifelong dream for Cena but he should pay his dues before he gets the title, as orton should. When a title goes to a wrestler who doesn’t deserve at that point in their career it is like a slap in the face to the dedicated fans of wrestling. I love the business and what it stands for, but sometimes it pisses me off. LOL!!! I know to take it with a grain of salt, but wrestling is seriously my life. I live sleep and breathe this business. I would so love to be a wrestler, I just turned twenty two years of age, and am seriously contemplated getting into this profession. I know the pro’s and the con’s, but the only thing holding me back is money for training and it’s hard to save money in this day and age. It is a dream of mine, and I definitely have the passion. My top 10 favorite wrestlers of all time are: bret hart, mr perfect, beniot, guerrero, stonecold steve austin, cm punk, samoa joe, rvd, undertaker, and kurt angle. Thank you for taking the time out of you busy schedule to answer these questions. It is greatly appreciated.
I agree with Evolution 100% (the writer NOT the theory) if you think about it TNA has no chance against WWE. First off every member of the McMahon family are if not all ready will be billionaire's and their writers are extremely smart at what they do. So giving me the conclusion the TNA has NO finical chance against WWE.
Here's an interesting idea even though executing it would take a few hurdles. Stage a raw or smackdown on an aircraft carrier. There is plenty of space to set up a ring -either on the flight deck or in the hangar bays. You could even stage some gimmick matches since there are plenty of areas that could be used to "hide" somebody or something... the possibilities would be endless. I do serve on a carrier but have no real decision making abiltity in the regard but I think a lot of higher ups in the military would go for the idea. Take care, Petty Officer Luby USN
Is the wwe keeping an eye on certian tna wrestlers and if so who ? p.s. Is there any idea when harry smith will debut ?
Just wanted to see what you thought about 2 things... Hogan vs Big Show at Wrestle Mania 23 (20 years after Andre and Hogan took place in Detroit at WM 3) The other would be a Randy Orton with K-Fed vs Cena with either hometown rapper Kid Rock or Eminem... I personally thing Eminem could use the publicity, but Kid Rock seems more likely... any thoughts on this? Thanks so much for your time today and time and energy in the business. You're amazing~! Mike N.
Hey JR, Just wanna know one thing why wwe is not able to produce great superstars like austin, rock, undertaker any more why these new kids have not been in a certain directions as a roll so that they can blew the screen off like those superstars did, is wwe lacking to produce stuff like that???
JR I love watching RAW every Monday Night to see what you and Jerry have cooked up for the commentary My question is, do you have any idea when you guys are coming back to Columbus Ohio for a Pay Per View?
Hey yo, Mr. Ross...good to see you healthy and all that. Do you think that we will see the growing trend of more African American sports entertainers? My hero and inspiration Booker T is a legend in the making and my fellow brooklynites Cryme Tyme are entertaining and will grow (hopefully). And one more thing; How does a musician get heard by your company for a theme track? Jim Johnson?

how many title shots does the loser of the title going to have? the champions go up against the same people... excuse me, the same person week in and week out for just about a entire year. what happend to the old school way you lose you get ONE title shot and if you lose that one, you go back to the bottom and work your way up. i always found it intresting to watch an individual make his way to the top it makes it worth it to watch, and whats up with the non- title matches?
Hi JR! First of all, I want to wish you and your family as well as everyone in the WWE, "Happy Holidays!" Just wondering what's up with the WWE 24/7 subsite? At the end of every month I look forward to the sneak peek of the next month but I haven't seen the link to the Adobe Acrobat schedule for January. Is this temporary or permanent? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey J.R., First of all, I just wanted to thank you for all of the hard work you've done over the years. No matter how good Raw has or has not been, I've always enjoyed your work both on and off screen. I was wondering if you still keep intouch with Steve Austin? How is he doing these days? I remember a few years ago upon his departure from WWE he seemed to have a lot of personal issues and stress in his life. The last time I saw him on television was the WWE Saturday Night Main Event special. I've already heard he'll be in an upcoming WWE film and I look forward to that! Austin and the silver screen seems like a natural progression to me. What are your thoughts and feelings on Paul Heyman's release from ECW? Can the brand survive? I've got to admit that without Paul Heyman on creative and after the December to Dismember PPV, I don't have a real good feeling about in my gut about it. One final question, do you still enjoy John Wayne films? Being a pretty young guy (just turned 24) I've only recently discovered John Wayne and I really enjoy these classic films. Merry Christmas! -Jason (Loganville, GA)
J.R.- I would first like to say that your commentary is great and makes every match better. Speaking of great matches, Carlito has great matches every time he steps into the ring. I have been a huge fan of Carlito since his arrival in WWE. He has great talent on the mike and is a great wrestler. But it seems for the past several months he has been put on the "back burner". Why doesn't WWE push him for at least the IC title or a bigger story line, (Carlito in DX maybe)? I just feel that WWE is not using one of, if not the, best young talent in the company. What do you think?
First things first, last time i read on WWE.com that a wrestler didn't think they were physically able to perform it was Kurt Angle, he showed up in TNA less than a month later. Will Big Show be next, or is he really going to be dead by 40 because of his enormous body stature? I was reading up above about AJ Styles coming to WWE, that would be the worst thing that ever happened to wrestling, PERIOD. AJ Styles is far too good of a wrestler to be dumbed down by Vince McMahon's slow paced "don't get hurt because I don't want to pay you to be rehabing" style. I'm surprised Jeff Hardy was rehired, and I'm hell of surprised that Johnny Nitro was allowed to try to pull off that crazy Reverse flip corkscrew against the "Golden Boy" John Cena. One more inch to the right and it looked like one of them would have been paralyzed. It looks as if the stars are hibernating to TNA not the other way around...Look what happened to Kid Kash when he signed with WWE, he's a bum now and nobody cares about him. Paul London, okay he's one half of the tag team champs ON SMACKDOWN, noone cares about that show except for little kids! My 9 year old brother is in the other room watching it right now. the only guy i could give a rat's you know what about on that show is Mr. KENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNEDY, KENNEDY...That guy is hilarious. Monty Brown, they'll ruin him. I'd advise that he feud with Lashley and make claims that the only reason WWE ever signed him was to rip TNA off. Samoa Joe should claim that about Umaga too. God the WWE is lucky that every nine year old didn't have a brother; that was 13 years older than him, who has been watching wrestling since he was 4.
Hey there J.r. I'm actually from the Philippines and I'm a big fan of WWE from hulkamania to D'X. I was just wondering, if the VKM would ever return to WWE (because they're losing popularity to D'X) would it be possible to reunite all former members including x-pac and chyna? I surely miss all those stables from the attitude era like the Corporation, The Ministry, Nation of Domination, D'Generation X. And even WCW stables like n.W.o. or the four horsemen. Well it sure feels good writing to you, and more power!
J.R. any chance you would ever consider going back into talent relations? I think you had a good eye for talent. I liked your eye for talent better than who ever is in charge now. One more question. Do you think you would ever want to be a booker, or in creative?
Hello JR, I live in Ireland & I want go over to either the US or Canada to learn Pro Wrestling, I had my heart set on attending Lance Storm's school in Canada & I was about to apply for it but then I found this site http://www.wrestlingschools.org/ so I asked them about Storm's school & they said that they do not recommend it, should I listen to them & if not Lance Storm's school can you recommend me one? I would really appreciate a recommendation from you. Thank you.
Hi J.R. I think you do a great job on Raw but since Raw was move from TSN to TheScore, I am unable to get RAW so I stuck with the ECW stuff. First thing I like to say is that the last PPV wasn't as bad as people made out to be, Taboo Tuesdays where much worse then D2D PPV. I did enjoy the PPV and any one who didn't watch it should watch it. Only thing that could had help was had Hardcore Holly vs Sandman for the last spot and maybe had the final match come down to CM Punk, Bobby, Test, and the Big Show. The ECW could use more but not as much as it use to have hardcore matches. These match should be use to end a raval and not used to build up to a fight. The only exception is the ECW title where the title is fought for in hardcore rules matches. What is your thoughts on Paul Haymen? I probley drank to much of his kool-aid but I think if the WWE got ride of him then this is bad news for WWE. You never get ride of a master mind like Paul Haymen, he may not know how to budget thing out on paper but if you give him freedom to do what needed then you get his best. This last ppv, even though it was good, wasn't Paul Haymen fault. It seem like a Smackdown or Raw PPV and not a ECW PPV. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
JR- First off, I want to commend you on the wonderful career you've had so far. I've followed you since your NWA days (and I think you were in Bill Watt's UWF, if I remember correctly). Nobody better than you and the late ordon Solie to call a match. Just wanted your thought on this idea- I think a guy who came out looking very plain, wrestled a technical style, then went to the back- but won a lot- would get over real big. Now, a lot of people may look at that, and say its a boring idea- quite the contrary. I say its different, and that gets attention. Superstar Graham was so different than the others in his era, that he was unreal. By being this different, unflashy might be flashier. Thoughts?
Hey J.R. I am a senior in high school and will be persuing my pro wrestling career after graduation. What kind of advice would you give a pro wrestler in the making? Also, there have been many rumors of lots of superstars in the ECW locker room leaving for TNA. Is there any truth to these rumors? One last thing. Do you see TNA as major competition for the WWE?
I would like to start off by saying that I am a big fan of your announcing and I think your announcing style adds to a big match atmosphere. I am a big fan of wrestling and watching the WWE product over the past few months has become increasingly frustrating. It has gotten to the point where I cannot watch a full program without resorting to changing to see what is going on with the football, baseball, or other sporting event going on at the moment. It is either that or I just don't bother watching at all and read the results later. The ECW launch, which was supposed to be an unique and different product from Raw or Smackdown is basically WWE junior showcasing guys who could not catch on with the two main shows, for example Test and Hardcore Holly. It has also featured "Extreme Strip Poker", something that has nothing to do with wrestling at all. Smackdown while entertaining with Booker and Finlay on the show is unbearable to watch because it is on tape delay from Tuesday and I could just as easy read the taping results, features the repulsive Eddie Guerrero storyline, and is on Friday Nights a night of the week I usually try to got and socialize. Then there is Raw, the less I watch of this show, the better it is for me. I cannot stand watching John Cena for a loose use of the term wrestle, the overcoming the odds storylines and constantly coming out on top in the end storylines are nauseating. DX has already buried 75% of the Raw roster. The list goes on and on, if kept listing them this would make my comment longer than it already is. I would have sent this to WWE.com, but it would not have gotten very far. In closing, I am a big fan of you work and I look foward to your response. Thanks for reading my little rant and thank you in advance for your response.
Hey JR, with WrestleMania fast approaching the Hall of Fame is of course coinciding. Seeing as it is twenty years since the huge Silverdome Mania don't you think it would be fitting for Ricky Steamboat and Randy Savage to be inducted? I feel they are both deserving, especially Savage. Thanks.
hey jr i was wondering why wwe doesn't give scott hall and kevin nash another run. bring eric in as there manager and have a dx vs nwo fued. people still remeber wcw exspecially when watching wwe 24/7 and the monday night wars. tna is a littel compention but not much. i think it would be good for vince to touch into 10 yrs ago like he is doing with DX and do the nwo thing again, even if only for a little while. and as i leave ya mr. ross i would just like to say you are one of my favorite announcers only topped by monsoon. happy holidays. -jeff
Hi JR, i am currently being trained by (THE COLORADO KID MIKE RAPADA), you may remember him from ozark mountain or for beating catus jack and jerry lawler out of the nwa world title, the reason i bring this up is becuase he is teaching us the old style of wrestling were a match has 7 steps which i won't say. wrestling like how it just to be, we run a lot of shows and all in front of kids only. there is no blood, there is no profanity, no back flips into the crowd every match where every move is a finisher, it is kid friendly and safe, just like the wwf USED TO BE. My question to you is, were did wrestling lose it. it does not have that same feel to it these days and i just wanted to know your views on this. jesse flores
JIM, I AM NOT GOING TO BE WATCHING ANOTHER WWE EVENT, EVERYTHING NOWS SEEMS POINTLESS, NO INTERESTING ANGLES, CENA-KFED WAS GOOD BUT NO OTHER GENIUNE HEAT. DX WALKING ALL OVER EDGE & ORTON IS WRONG AND WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING WITH ECW. I DON'T KNOW ANY INSIDER KNOWLEDGE OFF ANYONE BUT THE PROGRAMME IS NOT WHAT ANYONE EXPECTED. RVD & SABU LOOK FED UP, WHY NOT EVERY WEDNESDAY GET A HAMMERSTEIN BALLROOM ARENA TYPE AND GET A PROPER SHOW FOR RVD, SABU, DREAMER, SANDMAN, PUNK (HAVE BISCHOFF TAKE OVER MAKE THERE LIVES HELL) TO REALLY GO AT IT OR IS LIKE YOU DON'T WANT THE TOP GUYS TO BE THREATENED, I DUNNO, SAD TO WWE LIKE THIS, I HATED TNA BUT THEY SEEM FRESH, GOOD BELIEVABLE STORIES. I REALLY HOPE SOMETHING MAJORLY POSITIVE HAPPENS, CAN VINCE NOT SEE THE POTENTIAL OFF RVD, SABU, DREAMER, SANDMAN, PUNK ETC. POSITIVE NOTE GOOD TO SEE THE WORLDS GREATEST TAG TEAM AND WORLDS GREATEST TAG FINISHER. NOW I PRAY
Whats happened to Shawn Michaels? I know he's aged and all, but why the sudden change in the way he dresses and carries himself, even his talk? Only once did I see him being "Shawn Michaels" in the last few years, and that was in the Hogan feud. And why is he playing a damn goof lackey in DX, when he should be the straight talking leader?
Hey J.R.,hows it going? Before i say anything i would just like to say i have alot of respect for you and the business, and your bbq sauce is awsome too! I would just like to say i always thought WWE was in its best form when they had competition. Im not a big fan of TNA and i think Kurt Angle should of had the guts to tell Vince he wanted to leave for the other company. With saying that i must aknowlegde the fact TNA has some big named wrestlers and this is the perfect chance for WWE to show why they've been around as long as they have. Vince doesnt have to respond to the lame "Million Dollar Challege" , but instead have a little fun with TNA as they are with WWE i believe people who are not even WWE fans tune in every monday night just to see what they got to say. As Triple H would say, whether you like me,or hate me,your still going to tune in to watch me.
JR, I'm not knocking the WWE or its product at all. But I have to say Randy Orton makes me want to turn the channel. If it weren't for Edge pulling the weight in that tag team, I'd probably leave the room for a good 10 minutes hoping his match is over. How many chances will WWE give Randy? I understand he is a legend's son. I understand that WWE would hate to see Randy bloom in another organization. But he has seriously digressed, in my opionion, over the years. Again, I'm not knocking WWE or the potential that Randy has/had. But I feel like the writers may be wasting their time on a lost cause. You mentioned that the target demographic for WWE are males 12-34. The only people interested in watching RKO are teenage girls. The ONLY time I was interested in watching him wrestle is when Benoit was carrying him. Still a loyal viewer though.
OK J.R. Here's a question. If you had to pick the one wrestler who you feel is the "star of the future," the guy who will run with the ball and carry the company, who would it be? WWE or otherwise. I know this is a hard question, and I'm putting you on the spot. But who better to ask? No one has an eye for talent like you. NO ONE! Keep up the good work.
As far as the "Million Dollar Challenge" goes from the Old Age Outlaws, why not take them up on it. The terms afterall were, any place, any time, anywhere...fine...do it at Wrestlemania...hell in the cell tag match...it would be worth seeing and if the Old Age Outlaws are in the hospital afterwards they can't very well do any promos against the WWE can they? I also make a pretty mean BBQ sauce and challenge you at Wrestlemania to a BBQ tasting match...you pick a wrestler to taste our stuff, I'll pick one, then we get an audience member to taste it. I figure it would make a nice running filler piece and promote your sauce...I'll job...no big deal.
Hello from the UK to you JR. As someone who has followed wrestling for a number of years, I remember with great pride the fantastic Summerslam '92 and how great an event it was (I made a trip to New York to see the same event 10 years later). With the success of recent trips to the UK, and with a couple of Raws and Smackdowns being filmed each year over here, is the WWE giving any serious consideration to bringing any of the "big 4" Pay=Per-Views back to the UK any time soon?
Recently I have been wondering Randy Savage had been approached by anyone at WWE regarding signing a 'WWE Legends' contract. It is my understanding that by signing such a contract WWE would manufacture action figures and other such merchandise incorporating that star's likeness. There has been a great resurgence of interest in past WWF performers and seemingly every 'superstar' from the late 80's/early 90's has been inked to a deal, and I find it somewhat quizzical that Randy is not a part of this 'WWE Legends' promotion. Along the same lines, I am very curious to why Randy seems to be on the 'outs' with WWE management. I say ‘seems’ because this is merely my perception from how WWE currently is writing Randy Savage's legacy. Right now they act is if Randy never existed and avoids showing footage of him or referencing him at all costs. They dedicate entire DVDs and books on other performers who were never on par with Randy, and will cover Randy’s contributions only as an afterthought. Let me give an example: WWE releases a DVD set entitled “Greatest Wrestling Stars of the 80’s”...this DVD profiles 15 different wrestling stars...noticeably absent is Macho Man Randy Savage...in his place Arn Anderson, Sgt Slaughter, Bob Orton, Iron Sheik, Greg “the Hammer” Valentine, Jerry “The King” Lawler, The Junk Yard Dog, etc. I have not read one review of this DVD that has not referenced the complete absurdity of Randy Savage being left off this program. I promise you this is but one example on a long list of similar occurrences I have observed in recent years. Randy certainly deserve better, as along with Hulk Hogan, Randy was the face of professional wrestling for nearly two decades. As you are well aware, Randy has gone on to cross all boundaries and today is recognized universally as a bona fide pop culture icon, but the foundation of his successes was his wrestling career and The McMahon Family owns the rights to nearly his entire in-ring legacy and will tell the story of Macho Madness as they see fit, and right now they tell it as if it were a "non-factor". Long time fans such as myself know the truth. We know the Macho Man as a charismatic, colorful, and passionate performer whose unmistakable voice, unmatched intensity, engaging personality, and unique fashions were second to none, but not everyone was a fortunate as you or I and able to see Randy in his prime. Secondly, there is not a strong enough wrestling media aside of WWE to counter their biased view of the past. The list of Randy's contemporaries that have been inducted in to the WWE Hall Of Fame before him is nothing short of laughable. Money issues aside, Randy and his fans deserve to see him recognized as the innovator and icon that he was and is. There are many rumors circling around wrestling fans as to why Randy is seemingly the one Superstar from the heyday of the World Wrestling Federation, that seems to get the 'shaft'....but no one seems to have a real answer as to why. I have even spoken to several personalities within WWE, and everyone agrees it is strange, but are unable to provide any answers. I recall your comments, regarding a questioned regarding the possibility of a Savage DVD was posed to you during the brief revival of the Ross Report on wwe.com, and you stated "I would love to have the opportunity to interview Randy for a career retrospective DVD but would want ample security on hand with the types of questions I would want to ask." ...maybe you can shed a little more light on those comments. Either way, take care JR, I and I would greatly appreciate any feedback you can lend me on this subject.
Jim Ross, how is it possible that a man with so much passion for this business can sit by and stomach the trash that is put on television each week? This WWECW thing was a bad idea from the start, yet held more potential than other ideas. I honestly think that Vince sabotaged it just to make a point and to keep its ratings under RAW's which have to be a joke. How is it that each of the three top champions of WWE right now are just different shades of the same lame, weak wrestler? Big Show was a joke, yet Lashley is an outright slap in the face. For this WWECW thing to ever really get off the ground, one would imagine some of this "nostalgia talent" to be pushed. Sabu, Sandman, Tommy Dreamer even...where are they? Why are none of these men holding the ECW Title? As for RAW, it has gotten REALLY bad since 2002. I've never been a big fan of WWF/E, but after the acquisition of so much talent in 2000-2002, I had high expectations. Chris Benoit, Eddy Guerrero, Rob Van Dam, Taz, Lance Storm, Mike Awesome, Raven, etc. Yet, for the most part, all of them were wasted. NONE me their full potential or, rather, were given th eopportunity to do so. The Raven character, alone, was a license to print money and could have been the top heel for a long time. Where was he, instead? Midcard purgatory. Chris Benoit should have been the next Bret Hart, yet he's a couple inches shorter and gets no respect, I guess. Sure, Jericho, Benoit, Guerrero and RVD all got their fifteen minutes and their obligatory pity run as champ, but then what? Such pure talent is wasted time and again. Yet lame duck champs like Batista and Cena are rammed down our throats when they aren't over. Not the way they should be. I disliked the Rock and thought his wrestling talent was nonexistent, but I could tell that he had the entertaining quality that is lacking in the guys I see getting pushed these days. Don't you have any respect for the guys that really care for the sport of professional wrestling and train and travel the globe for years? Isn't that what it's all about? Why does a punk like Chris Masters walk into some huge contract working for WWE, while Taz wrestled for well over a decade before starting in WWF and was relegated to a commentator position very shortly afterward. I surely thought (like an idiot) that Wrestlemania 2001 would have featured something brilliant like Taz v. Benoit for the World Title. The talent was there, finally, yet the stories were lame and the wrestlers were passed over. Where is Benoit now? Secondary champion on a second-rate program. By all rights, he should be widely known and respected as one of the best wrestlers of all time, with SEVERAL World Title reigns under his belt. Why is WRESTLING a dirty word? Why does Vince hate the fans and the sport itself. Seems to me he'd be better off running a TV station and putting on soap opera, because his grasp on wrestling is pathetic. Will their ever be a change? Do you deny that the product has gotten worse and worse, especially in the last four years? It has gone from bad to unwatchable. Is there any hope for those of us who still love wrestling, besides spending a fortune on tapes from Japan and watching our old ECW and NWA videos?
I'm really excited about the return of the World's Greatest Tag Team, but I was a bit concerned to see the focus on them being more on the comedy of Charlie Haas' oddball comments than about the reunion of one of the most exciting tag teams of the 21st century. Given the unkind fates of several of the tag team specialists on Raw (many of whom, notably the spirit squad, were prevented by their angles from making the most out of their talents), where do you he WGTT going? any chance on matching tights?
Can I Have A Job? Wrestler, Writer, Anything?
A big hello from Massachusetts, J.R. Just to throw my opinion out there on the table, I'm a huge C.M. Punk fan, and it takes a lot to impress me as a newcomer to WWE. I'm as critical as they come without lacing up the boots myself, and that young man has outstanding charisma. The fans seem to have just taken to him naturally, without too much of a "push" as they say. As a lifelong fan, Punk is the future. On a side note, slapping Shannon Moore and calling him a poser was priceless.
