J.R.'s Family Bar-B-Q

As Promised...More Feedback

Larry- My educated guess is that the Masterlock will be broken some day. Tyler- Royalties are paid via a formula contractually agreed upon with the wrestlers and the WWE. Just as in pro sports and other forms of entertainment, the stars are paid more than the others. Obviously, the goal is to become a main eventer and stay there. Georgie- There will always be room for the JBLs and the Jesse Venturas of the world. I could see a trend in the future where the color commentators become more attitudinal. Joe Fish- “Gutless” J.R. not only allowed your poorly crafted email to be posted but I am responding to it as well. If the current ECW product causes you so much angst I suggest you not watch it. Your email screams that you are seeking attention. I feel for you. Finally, your comments about the late Eddie Guerrero were tasteless and uncalled for. Voodoo Crap Mafia- I have always felt that Roaddog and Billy Gunn were talented individuals. The entertainment business is about getting noticed and that seems to be what they are attempting to do. Victor- I am happy you like the “Legends” show on WWE 24/7 and it is a blast being a part of it. I hope we continue doing them. Joey- Never count out Ric Flair for another title reign. Never say never. However, I would doubt that we will ever see the original 4 Horsemen wrestle again. Time catches up to us all. Alan- You asked about what I thought of Kane and I told you. Whether Kane has a “long title reign” is a separate question I am not able to answer. My guess would be “why not”? Von Ghoul- Hang on to that old trading card as it may be worth 50 cents or so some day. I hope you get that Chipotle Bar-B-Q Sauce for Christmas too. Dan E- Regarding the “War” challenge you spoke of, I seriously doubt if it will ever go any farther than it currently is. Again, it is all about publicity and to get folks talking. I don’t know what value that particular issue would have for the WWE. Just my opinion. Patrick- I am not aware of the regulations set forth by the Missouri State Athletic Commission. To improve your play by play…practice…often. Listen to various play by play people’s work and then develop your own style. Good Luck. Bethany- I have gambled at the Mohegan Sun on several occasions but I never left with much of their cash. This trip was no exception. Peter Tan/Malaysia- The WWE has signed Monty Brown and Monty seems like an extremely athletic and charismatic individual. How well Monty responds in a new system will indicate how successful he will be. I like Monty’s chances from what I have seen of him thus far. Walker- We always appreciate new visitors to our site. Thanks for checking it out and come back often. Steve- Good luck on the screen writing. I hope the 30 man Battle Royal doesn’t take away from the Royal Rumble. I never thought of it in that way. Interesting perspective. Brandon J- I assume DX will be around as long as they remain popular. Could be a long time. John- The Horsemen DVD should really be a good one. There is so much great material it will probably take multiple discs to get it done properly. JSP- Thanks, I won’t let the “idiots” get to me. I am not the “enemy” and honestly I don’t think anyone is. Sports entertainment is about entertaining people and some efforts are simply going to be better than others. I love the Chipotle Ketchup too and it makes a great steak sauce. Kevin- My brief “run” as a bad guy that you are enjoying on WWE 24/7 was a unique experience for me. I don’t know if it really worked but it was a change of pace for me nonetheless. I think I got to do one of the first if not the first “attitudinal” in ring interviews from Hershey, Pa. Greg/Wales- I don’t know of any Wrestlemania 23 matches but someone utilizing a ladder would not surprise me. Time will tell. Stay tuned. Dee- I agree with you regarding your thoughts about John Cena. Because I hired John and know him so well I realize I am not the most unbiased individual when it comes to discussing John. I just know he has a great heart and loads of character and works as hard as anyone I have ever been around. I think it is fine if fans don’t all like John but to make it personal regarding someone they don’t know other than from watching TV is, I agree, annoying. John is still young and improves every week. The Gav- One never knows about Sid Eudy and his future plans except for Sid. I really don’t know if Sid would want to wrestle full time again. If Sid was healthy and motivated I am sure he could contribute to any organization. Craig/UK- I think Samoa Joe is a talented young man who has a great future in the business if he can stay healthy. I don’t know him personally but he seems to work hard in the ring which I appreciate. Steve- My “presentation skills” have gotten me in trouble on more than one occasion. I am working on them nonetheless. Sometimes I am too blunt for my own good. Tim B.- Mike Tenay is an excellent broadcaster who is extremely knowledgeable. He’s also a great person. Brandon- Yes, I would like to write a book someday when I am no longer affiliated with any organization. Indeed this is a busy time of the year for all of us. My chances of getting into the WWE Hall of Fame are perhaps slightly better than yours. There are far too many more deserving individuals than yours truly. Dan K.- I would assume that a Mr. Perfect DVD will be produced in the future. There are some great “Perfect” stories out there. Dave- I would suggest that there are too many wrestling pay per views in general but the market will determine if my opinion is right or wrong. Kam- Vancouver is a great city and one of the most beautiful places I have traveled. I don’t know the future of holding a WWE PPV there but it certainly would not surprise me. Canadian fans in general are awesome. James- I plan on going to Phoenix for the pre-game festivities but will most likely be on a plane on December 31 on my way to Miami for the January 1 Raw. John Laurinaitis has a “thankless” job. It is one of the most challenging positions in the business and one can never make everyone happy. John is a good family man and works hard. Many independent wrestlers need to slow down a little and better understand in-ring psychology. I have seen some indy matches that just did not make sense but more often than not the wrestlers were trying but perhaps they need better guidance and coaching. These individuals hearts are in the right place from what I can tell. Dylan-OVW in Louisville has an outstanding wrestling school. Danny Davis is an excellent teacher. Jason- I really enjoy doing radio, I certainly have the face for it, and think a national radio show about wrestling could work. Doing radio with the WWE was fun but it killed my social, Saturday nights! Tommy- The first Clash of Champions was a great experience and broke some new ground on TBS. Ric Flair put Sting on the map at that first Clash. Chance Ryan- Good luck on your career. Being in this business isn’t easy and more don’t make it than do. I hope you are one of the fortunate ones. The Sooners will have their hands full with Boise State without a doubt. JRH-Enjoy Armageddon this Sunday in Richmond. The old Coliseum has a great wrestling history. One of my first TV assignments for the Crockett promotion in the 80s was in that arena. Debra- I too am glad your soldiers are home safe and sound. Stone Cold visits our site so he will see your best holiday wishes. Sweet Daddy Bugg- Chris Benoit has the ability to beat any of the champions recognized on any brand. That’s where my money would be placed. Clayton- A Sooner fan in Michigan….that’s a great combination. Notre Dame fans are passionate but that isn’t a bad thing. Wills- I feel your frustrations. Wrestling can be like the Oklahoma weather. If one doesn’t like it today it will probably be different tomorrow. Doug- I don’t think too many deserving people are being passed up for the Hall of Fame. It is just that there are so many deserving people and only a handful can go in each year. I agree that Curt Hennig is a deserving candidate and will most likely go in sooner than later. Kyle Lucas- I guess you know more about my ability to affect change in the WWE than I do. I read your RAW feedback and I am sorry you did not like the show. I don’t share your point of view but I respect your opinions. Robert- In my opinion the WWE isn’t going to work with a company they don’t own. Another company’s publicity stunt probably will never be acknowledged. Brendan- I have not seen any of Teddy Hart’s work recently but no one I know ever thought Teddy did not have talent. Working a few TV shows with Gordon Solie was a real blessing for me. Mike- I would love to see the Fiesta Bowl but that’s not how it’s going to be. I will be there in spirit.

My last post... It's good that the WWE will have a working relationship with New Japan (Pro Wrestling). Much like the WWE has connections in Canada (the Hart family), the WWE can now expand it's roster to Japanese wrestlers, like Jushin "Thunder" Liger, the Ultimo Dragon (was on Smackdown briefly), Taka Michinoku (another Smackdown alumni) the Great Muta, Tajiri (ECW) and maybe American import Scott Norton. This would make for interesting matches against the American-born "Superstars" (Brian Kendrick and Paul London, Sylvestar Terkay, Shawn Michaels, RVD), Canadians (like Chris Benoit, Edge) and Mexican/Spanish Luchadors (Rey Mysterio, Chavo Guerrero). I almost forgot the "Cowboy," Jimmy Wang Yang and (Sho) Funaki (former partner of Taka "Kaientai" Michinoku, from Smackdown). I'm talking those wrestlers with either a martial arts or Lucha Libre background.
I feel that the tag-team division (on all brands) and women's division should be inter-promotional because both areas are quite weak. I wouldn't mind seeing the F.B.I. vs Brian Kendrick and Paul London, the Hardy Boys .vs. Cryme Tyme and the Highlanders vs Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch. For the Women's division, Mickie James, Victoria, Beth Phoenix can challenge Trinity, Jazz (both from ECW), Jillian Hall and Kristal Marshall (both from Smackdown!)--none of the new so-called Divas should participate (like Ashley and Layla El), just those women who have experience and can actually wrestle !!!!! Not this T&A stuff all of the time (think mud wrestling). I remember GLOW in the 1980's, that was fun stuff (the birth of former WWE employee, Ivory).
To quote Triple H, "the future of ECW" should be CM Punk, if Sabu and RVD leaves (rumoredly) for TNA. Monty Brown's character is awesome in the ECW brand--if you watched this week's ECW programming. At least he kept his "Alpha Male" moniker intact. His finisher is called "The Pounce"--tell this to Joey Styles and Tazz. The WWE should acknowledge the TNA wrestling organization (Jeff Jarrett, Jerry Jarrett and Dixie Carter), as the fans do with their "TNA" and "We want wrestling" chants. Please don't censor the fans. Carlito was right on Monday Night. We want to see people fight, not see lame skits like the Donald Trump-Rosie O' Donnell thing on RAW. By insulting the intelligence of wrestling fans and giving them horrible booking decisions/matches, see ECW's December 2 Dismember PPV, this will drive the fan base away from watching the programs and watching an alternative brand (TNA) or the organization in which THQ (video game company) considers to be a sport (the UFC, K-1 and Pride mixed martial arts companies). I want to see that Russian sambo MMA guy wrestle already. RVD and Sabu deserves a shot at the ECW world title. I wish that they would bring back the ECW TV and Tag Team titles so that others can get more air time (see the FBI, Trinity, Stevie Richards, Jazz). I am an ECW Original fan, but is loving CM Punk every week.... Until then a wrestling fan 4 Life.... K.O. (knockout)
JR, WWE has released and continues to release on DVD, footage of old matches. I feel this is a good way to see the "history" of professional wrestling entertainment. However, I feel WWE is missing out by not doing a DVD of all the old time commentators who worked all those matches. The commentators at ringside are a big part of every match and I think WWE should consider releasing a DVD about these Entertainment Specialists.
JR, watched "Tribute to the Troops," Dec.25, "Spectacular!" Your comments, along with Jerry L's, about Randy Orton's brutal attack on Triple H are very "biased," to say the least! Randy Orton was the victim of a bloody-brutal beating directed by HHH and with help from Ric Flair & Batista. Randy was left a bloodied mass of muscle mainly by Triple H! Randy at "Unforgiven," 2004, Orton was again the bloody victim of HHH, Triple H slammed Randy on His head with a chair provided by Flair, then Orton was "pedegreed," head slamming to the chair & more blood! It's payback time for Orton, and I for one, am very pleased to see Randy get much deserved "REVENGE!" Beside's what other "Champ," goes for a sledgehammer when HE is about to be defeated! I'm aware that "YOU," are making Randy Orton a "Superstar-Heel," but "YOU," and "Jerry," are prejudiced and very hateful! I was listening to a CT. radio station this PM, seem's Linda McMahon donated $'s to Sen. Liberman's campaign for US Senator from CT. The commentator went into a long tirade against WWE and the "SEX & VIOLENCE," promoted by WWE Wrestling! The commentator was complaining that Sen. Lieberman, who campains against TV violence, should not have acceptted McMahon's "political," donation. "What are your thought's on this!? (IF you have any, of course?)
Hello JR. I listen to Les Thatchers radio show every week at www.wrestlingweekly.com, I think he has a great veteran perspective on the wrestling world and was wondering what is your opinion of him. Thanks
Dear J.R., I have always been, and still am, a big John Cena fan. In fact, I'm the only John Cena fan in my circle of friends. Just want to thank you for hiring him. If you see him, tell him that Christopher E.S. is still behind him. My first question: Why doesn't he talk anymore? He rarely gives that John Cena promo, the one that makes me laugh, yet draws me into his match at the same time. Not many guys do that so well(Triple H, and The Rock are among the few), so I just wonder why the WWE doesn't feed off of that more. Also, Eddie Guerrero, and my facts may be wrong on this, was the first Latino World Champion in the WWE. That alone should qualify him to be in the Hall of Fame. The fact that he was inducted when he was made sense to me from a repect standpoint. How better to show respect for a constant hard-working professional, than to induct him after his untimely death while he was with the company? I mean, the man was working the hectic WWE road schedule with an unhealthy heart, but he kept up as long as he could. He litterally gave everything to the company, and if that's not a Hall of Fame calbier worker, I don't know who is. Thank you, J.R., for just being J.R. Sincerely, Christopher E.S.
Mr Ross I remember reading WWE was to unveil a new WWE logo at Wrestlemania XX This never happened. When will we ever get a new WWE logo? Isn't the scratch logo far outdated and the cause of that panda bear company the reason WWE lost the F?
JR seeing you five rows away at the 2003 Unforgiven was awesome as I have watched you since TBS' NWA Saturday Night. I am wondering if you think the whole K Fed storyline has run it's course and if you could have made it any celebrity who would it have been? Thanks for your time though I am disappointed you didn't respond to my last two comments. Happy holidays to everyone at WWE and hopefully to a great but improved WWE produced in 2007 Please give me my Christmas gift of Victoria Vs Melina and I don't mean a quick 5 min squash. If I can'r get that one both in Playboy would suffice I've seen enough Blondes.
hey JR,im am from england and i am a huge edge fan and i was wondering why do you think wwe keeps giving john cena the title, in my opinon he has had it to long. when edge was the champ he created cotroversy and made better heel storylines, o yea it was my bithday on the 17th decemeber and got loads of edge merch and just wondering by any chance on raw say happy birthday to me, it will make my year thnx JR YOU ROCK!!!
JR - even though i live in the UK i am a regualr visitor to the great state of Minnesota, and have been made aware of the rich wrestling heritage that state has (from what i understand Ric Flair was born there, the Road Warriors worked or met there(?), and Shelton Benjiman, the wonderful Molly Holly, Brock Lesner, X-Pac, Jesse Ventura and countless others all hail from there or are associated with it) Apart from Texas, which i hear has an even stronger association with wrestling, which other States have close ties to professional wrestling, and have managed to maintain them through to the moderm era where traditional territories are a thing of the past? What states do you have a particular fondness for?
J.R., It is great that you take the time to correspond with fans like this, not many do. I have always loved your work and think that the aura you bring around a match is one of the things that has got me so invested in wrestling when I first started watching it in the late 90's. However, recentley I have found the commentary on RAW unbearable, not because of your work, but because of the king. The King as a heel worked because you would be able to counteract his ridiculous statements and you both had great chemistry together, however, two men sitting verifying what the other said over and over, it has completely taken away the chemistry. Tazz and JBL are very impressive I think, they commentate on what happens and don't seem to follow a check list of who to support and who not to support, they seem to have minds of their own. The king comes accross like a puppet, for example , the "Cenas foot on the rope" debacle from Monday night, or any time where he will hang, draw and quarter a heel for doing what a face had done only minutes earlier. I think the set heel and face guidelines to a commentator can be a bit insulting, but they are entertaining and it adds to the fact we are watching charachters, however, watching the King not have a mind of his own is pretty pathetic. If he was going to cut one thing from his charachter could it not be his completely off putting diva fascination? When you were fired because RAW needed a new face, I think that's pathetic, nobody can call a match like you can, I think far less people would be put off raw if you and tazz or you and JBL were commentating. Thanks for reading my rant, I don't expect you to speak ill of your colleague as I know that's not your style and I have alot of respect for that, I'm just interested on your opinions on your favoured dynamic and dream partners in the broadcast booth. Cheers, Gregor (Glasgow, Scotland) p.s. Good luck to Ohio in the bowl.
J.R i have a question, I'm 21 years old and i have a 9 year old brother who just like me LOVES the WWE (mostly anything having to do with "The Kliq"), our parents arnt always thriled about it, but its normaly not a problem. Although just like a lot of young boys we like to play like his favorette wrestlers with his friends.. At times doing the moves on eachother which we all know is a BIG "no,no". I have sat him down and read to him at night HBK's Book and Mick Foley's, i guess i'm trying to show him that its sports entertainment and giving him an idea of what REALLY goes into being a wrestler... By now your probley asking, "whats your question?".. Well as much as i tell him not to wrestle and do actual moves on his buddys i find myself buying him toy championship belts.. I all of the sudden have mixed emotions on that subject and i wanted your opinion, On one hand i see that its good buisness to have them, but the WWE also says "Dont try this at home".... Sorry for the long email, and your a champ if you read the whole thing.
JR I think you are great, but got to say GOOO Boise State.
JOE FISH I've got nine words for you!! Leave this site to proper fans with proper comments.
Hey JR Good Lordy, Joe Fish takes himself a bit seriously doesn't he. If you don't mind JR, I'd like to field this one for you. Joe, Firstly, you can't spell Secondly, if you don't like it then don't watch it. There are plenty out there who do like the product save for a couple of niggling points and there are plenty of alternatives out there. Thirdly, Eddie Guerrero may be a way to make money for WWE but also think of the money it is making for Chavo Guerrero and Vicki Guerrero and Eddie's kids (who I believe were not left that much money when Eddie passed), so in effect it is benefitting everyone and yeah it may be in slightly bad taste but there's been worse things I've seen in professional wrestling. And Finally, you do crave attention obviously, did your mommy and your poppa not tuck you in bed at night with some cocoa? Did you have a deprived childhood that is leading into a deprived and unsociable adult life? I would like to send a personal request to Mr Ross to stop you posting because your negative attitude is everything that is wrong with professional wrestling fans. Constructive criticism is what is needed not negative. And if you don't like that JoeFish, then you can go and sit in your darkened room by yourself like the lonely loser you are.
Why is it that there is a video of x-pac being at a house show with triple h and HBK. Would he ever come back to the WWE?
Mr. Ross, I recently sampled WWE 24/7 at my buddy's house. Now I know why he calls it "crack for the wrestling fan!" I watched you and the great Bob Caudle call the action and it brought back a lot of great memories. I have two questions and a comment: 1.) Do you know when WWE 24/7 will be available on Cablevision? (Not soon enough for this fan!), 2.) Is WWE negotiating with Bill Watts to acquire the Mid South/UWF footage? That was some of the best-booked wrestling shows I have ever seen to this day and 3.) I have a theory on why fans--male fans--dump on John Cena: they're jealous. Cena is the guy they want to be: talented, good-looking, can land any woman he wants and has the world on a string right now. Maybe he's not a Chris Benoit or Ric Flair in his prime (who the hell is?), but Cena is far from stinking up the ring. People overlook the fact that he's probably the hardest-working Superstar on the roster, between wrestling and doing promotion for WWE. And from what I hear, he's also one of the nicest guys who has not let his success change him (much like the Rock).
Hi jr hope your well , seemed jolly on raw like normal , my question is do you know of any good wrestling schools in the uk , the london area? And also whats gonna happen to the bashem's as they were paul haymens security guards? Will they re-enter the improving tag team division on smackdown. Also any sign of the highlanders getting a push , as they really talented and seem to be just a joke duo at the moment
Hey good ol' J.R. I know you are definately excited for Oklahoma to bowling, yet again this year during the Holiday season. I am too for my Wisconsin Badgers showing great effort this past football season to make it to the Capital One Bowl and to be excelling in the ranks of college basketball. Which arises to my question. Are you a Boomer Sooner in the basketball aspect of things? Or a different team, maybe? Or do you not follow basketball as much as football? I know I am a much bigger football fan then basketball myself, but as a curious person, I want to know. Also, I wish you and your family a healthy holiday season! Bryan
JR, I keep reading and hearing about fans being upset about ECW not being what it used to be, well, duh! *My opinion* I feel like at the moment ECW is a glorified Sunday Night Heat, thus I don't care to watch. I hope eventually, it will develop itself into a good program. I do, however, hate to hear about Paul Heyman. I feel like he could have helped keep a little bit of the program to its previous "Philly Standards", while the rest of the creative team developed the new ECW. But hey, "stuff" happens. Also, for the last two years, Monday Night Raw has come to Birmingham, Alabama just weeks before WrestleMania. I've been for the last two years, and am hoping they schedule another event here. Was curious if you have any idea if it will materialize again this year? In 2005 I sat in the fifth row, and in 2006 in the third. So if patterns hold true, I'll get front next time. Anyways, Merry Christmas and all other nice gestures included. Jeffery
Hey JR What do u think of CZW? I have seen there videos and there awesome. Why couldn't the new ECW be like them? I guest I just love HARDCORE WRESTLING and I know that WWE hates garbage wrestling. I think UFC will give WWE problems down the road. What do u think J.R.? I think people want real fighting. Do you think WWE will have any competition? WWE and WCW Monday night wars made wrestling really creative. Do you think TNA has a chance? WWE are not that creative as they used to be.
I miss some guys who haven't been allowed to do their best. Held down so to speak. Specifically I am a Rob Conway fan who feels he is under used and very talented. I watched OVW a lot and he did good as a bad guy and was great on the microphone. Also Val Venis was wonderful as Commissioner. I think he would be a better choice then coach. I mean why not make him Coach's muscle? Or even make Rob Conway Coach's muscle or both? I think Rob and Val could make a good tag team. All in all I just hate seeing guys like this being regulated to OVW and Heat when they could be breakout stars if they weren't held back. Rob had like 5 mins on the mic when his new gimmick came out and said he was going to do things the Con way but never did we get to know what the Con way was because after that his character was built only when he walked to the ring and that was it.
Hey JR. First I would like to say you're my favorite commentator in pro wrestling. Some people have asked you about who you think should be inducted into the wwe hall of fame. Well, I have my own ideas of who shoudl be in the hall of fame, and I would like to see what you think of my list. I'm going to include 8 people. My list is: Bruno Sammartino Mr Perfect Earthquake Arn Anderson Irwin R. Schyster Ted DiBiase The Road Warriors Well, what do you think? There are many others deserving to be inducted, but you can only induct so many people per year. Also, I think you deserve to be in the Hall of fame eventually.
Hey JR,I've been watching wrestling since 1999 and I really enjoy your work. I just wanted to get your opinion on which guys you think are the future of WWE. A lot of people are talking about Mr. Kennedy, but who else do you think really have a future in the E?
Now that Kevin Federline has split from his "sugar mama" (urban lingo for "financial benefactor" - you can add that to the dictionary), do you think he'd work beyond his New Year's match against John Cena? I know it's a bit stupid, but it was fun to see a celebrity involved with wrestling that just seemed so natural.
WRESTLING FAN 104: Stop asking the same questions over and over again. You've already asked him if he likes TNA three damn times in this blog alone.
Hi JR, firstly would like to say how much i enjoy your commentating on raw and hope you stick around for a while yet. I was wondering what your thoughts are on fans being so partisan these days, seems like there is a lot of negativity. I love watching WWE especially RAW but also like TNA, dont see why people have to be so narrow minded that they can't enjoy both. One more question if i may, was just wondering what you think of that status of the cruiserweight division? to me it feels like its going through a bit of a lull thus fans of cruiserweight action are likely to become X division fans ( unique selling point of TNA to me). Your thoughts on the x division? Have a great christmas, Many thanks, James
Hey, i just wanted to ask you your opinion of Hogan knows best as well as Hogan's recent comments on Canadian TV when he said that Austin and Bret Hart are hiding under a rock. I thought this was extremely disrespectful as neither guy CHOSE to leave the business but rather suffered injuries. They surely are not "hiding". Other than that, Hogan calling out Stone Cold on TV won't help Austin want to come back to face him. What are your opinions on Hogan's comments and do you know of any validity to he rumours that Shawn Michaels has heat with The Rock?
Hey JR, a dream match I would love to see is Sting vs. HBK. Although it would have been alot better say around 98. What are your thoughts on such a match? Also, what about an HBK/RVD match at WM23? Second, what is the big deal about Bobby Lashley? He's no Lesnar, and furthermore...he's horrible. I've never seen somebody so undeserving of a push. As if he wasn't bad enough on SmackDown, he was moved to ECW where he takes RVD and CM Punk's chances.
How can you not share my point of view? Did you read this part of that raw review. "This week, Raw had a rating of 3.8. Seven years ago, on December 13 1999, Raw did a rating of 6.1." Can you seriously tell me that RAW has not become ridiculous over the past few years! In 2000 RAW was so exciting, unpredictable and I would watch the entire show instead of changing the channel! Back then I cared about what every character was doing! Don't you think RAW was way better back then? What would you choose as better? Stone Cold, The Rock, The dysfunctional and evil McMahon family, all the storylines in 2000 or would you chose what RAW is producing now. If you chose RAW now then you clearly dont know a thing about entertainment. I'll leave you with one question and if you can give me a proper answer I'll hush up - WHY HAVE RATINGS FOR RAW FALLEN SINCE THE ATTITUDE ERA?
J.R. I was interested you think Brock Lesnar and Bill Goldberg could both be great assets to any company. I'm curious to get your opinions on calling the match they had at Wrestle Mania XX and what it was like dealing with such a hot, tumultuous crowd during it. And your thoughts on the actual match they had, crowd aside. Also, any opinions on why the Goldberg run seemed to come up short? I know that was one of your top goals at the time. The way Goldberg says he was misused is laughable to me, as he was given a very big push. He was given the ball but couldn't carry it.
JR, I love you man. To me, you represent the old school heart and soul of professional wrestling. I was watching the Pillman DVD (where you enjoyed the 18 inch turd) and noticed in the Wargames match that you called, your voice is different from today. Did the Bells Palsy affect your voice? Or did that change with age? Thanks bunches! Your fan, Matt Ficke
Hay JR what's up with Vice makeing the Woman's Roster more T&A? This is bull. Ware in the huck does he git that's "a good thing to do" Maybe some people like wacthing the woman Wrestle. and ths person may no longer wtach WWE anymore.
Mr.Ross How do you feel about "Voodoo Kin Mafia" issuing the 1 million dollar challenge to DX? I know they wont take the challenge for legal reasons, i know this is a plot to get attention to TNA since the whole "Kurt Angle on TNA" thing is wearing off and do you think is a bad move on the company's part (TNA)?
I am a first time visitor to your website, and I got a few questions about the WWE. First of all i'd like to say WWE would not be as good without you. I hear Stone Cold will be comming back to the WWE next year when he finishes shooting his movie, is this true? I also heard a rumor of the NwO returning, is this true? Do you think Mick Foley will ever return to the WWE?
Hi JR, first time writing here so I just wanted to thank you for everything you've done for the WWF/E and the wrestling industry as a whole. I have two questions, firstly with the recent signing of Claudio Castagnoli from ROH, I was wondering if you have been able to see much of ROH and if so which wrestlers have impressed you? Secondly, with the recent re-emergence of the tag team division, do you think it would be a good idea to make the tag team division an cross-brand one with a single title as the depth in the tag team division at the moment is not the deepest and it would allow for some exciting match ups. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Do you Know anything about TWA (texas wrestling academy) as in its quality or it being worth going to? In that case do you have any recommendations for Wrestling schools around texas or the states that surround it?
Hey J.R. Like to start off by saying you are by far my favorite announcer (ever) and thats after 20+ years of loyalty =) But I don't tune in to listen to announcers I am afraid. WWE's writting team and talent has been going in a constant decline over the years. It has gotten to the point that I tune into RAW each week and about half way usually switch over the MNF because I can't stand to watch anymore. As for Smackdown, I think I ONLY ever turn it on when there is nothing on TV, lol. Honestly there is nothing being put forth by the writing team to catch my attention lately. I haven't watched a WWE PPV in over a year. Last one cost me $40 and I walked away shaking my head, what a waste of cash. Lately I don't miss TNA. I don't know what the element they have but there is at least something there that catches the viewer and makes em want to watch. I can say though the past PPV from TNA was a bit of a let down. TNA has stars that grab your attention and make you want to watch them from AJ, Joe, Daniels, Abyss and the list goes on. I know you cannot deny that these stars have great ability and will one day be HUGE names in the business (not that they aren't already). I guess my questions for you would have to be. 1) Why are the writers in WWE having so much trouble giving its stars "gimmicks" that they excel at like in the past? 2) What ever happened to wrestlers like you saw in the late 80's thru the 90's? 3) Do you for see in TNA's future that they could grow to be a "WCW" type company and give WWE a run for its tv fan base? I know my answer for the last since I can say I have unfortunately started to turn from WWE brand and become a TNA fan. I'd love to see TNA push the WWE writers a bit to get some better storylines. I think lack of competition has started to ruin the WWE. Ian Formosa Ontario, Canada
hey jr . do u think i could defeat steve in a straight up submissions match using the bothwell headlock, steve tapped once...he shall tap again ..also ive heard speculation that a new commentater named JOHN is taking over the kings position..is this true? thanks for ur time.
Hey JR.. I was just wondering how the old wrestler DROZ was doing? He seemed to be great guy and was wondering if you have any info on him? Great columns JR>
G'day JR, new reader to the site and I'm really enjoying reading the blogs and the feedback. Anyway I've just got a couple of quick questions to ask if you could answer. 1)Back when John Cena started his career as the Prototype in OVW and in his first couple of years on Smackdown he was a good wrestler that was really entertaining in the ring and on the microphone. But since the middle of last year, there was a change. His humour became childish unlike the clever raps that he made through 2003-2004, and his in ring skills had a sharp decline from a wide variety of moves to a set of five or six moves; .Clotheslines .Sit Out Powerbomb .Five Knuckle Shuffle .FU .STFU .Suplex I was wondering, is there any reason that Cena's gimmick and in ring skills have become really watered down? (Note. I am not trying to bash Cena, it is disapointing that he had a great edgy character that was good in the ring and now has become watered down incredibly) 2)If you could have one dream match between a TNA superstar and a WWE superstar what would it be? 3)Quickly, will Monty Brown be keeping the Alpha Male gimmick that he had in TNA in WWE?
Hey J.R., First off I would like to say how big of a fan I am of the WWE and you. Without Raw, Smackdown, or ECW to watch every week I think my life would be very dull, but I have to ask you a serious question is RVD leaving the WWE? There are internet rumors going around that he is about to leave WWE now I'm not a fool and will not believe every thing that I read on a wrestling news website becuase most of it is just garbage someone made up. RVD is my favorite wrestler and I don't think his talents will be used to the fulliest unless he's in a ECW or WWE ring. If you are able to give a little clarity on this situation it would be extremly (get it?) appereciated thank you in advance and have a happy holiday.
Hi JR! I've been reading on the web that the WWE has hired someone to scout professional and college athletes around the world in order to find new talents in wrestling. I just wanted to let you know about one of my friend. Is name is Maxime Boyer, better known in wrestling as Canadian Dynamite. He's Co-Owner of the PCO/Boyer Wrestling Academy in Quebec. He's currently wrestling in Independant circuits such as the IWS, CZW and he's the current Champion of the Chikara young Lions Cup wrestling association in Philadelphia. He's a great technical wrestler inspired by Bret Hart, Chris Benoit and Dynamite Kid. You can know more about him at www.maxboyer.ca I just wanted to give you an hand if this rumor is true cause he's a real gifted wrestler. Thank you for your time mister! -K
AFTER WRESTLEMAINA THIS YEAR WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE CHANCES OF THE ROSTERS GETTING A BIT OF A SHAKE UP I WOULD LOVE TO SEE SHELTON BACK ON SMACKDOWN AND BE PUT IN THE MAIN EVENT AND KENNEDY MOVE TO RAW WHAT DO YOU THINK AND IF YOU COULD MAKE A DECISION WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE MOVED
I think you and Jerry Lawler make the greatest announce team is wrestling history. If I could see a match happen one more time, I would like to see Ric Flair VS Hulk Hogan. I think it would be fantastic to see that. What are your thoughts on that? Also Thanks for your contributions to every Monday Night Raw and have a great Christmas!
JR, as a wrestling fan I have seen the many stars flood through the WWE and out into their careers. Some have come back for more glory, some have left and have done other things. What is the direction for the WWE, in the future? Honestly D-X isn't working for me. D-X is washed up. It would need fresh faces to continue its legacy, or for new "cliques" to come around like Rated R-K-O. The Clique by far is the fan-classic because of the MSG incident. It gives the fans a real glimpse of the wrestling life. What I would like to see in a WWE soon, is the dream match in Detroit come Wrestlemania 2007, is Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Hulk Hogan. Two major WWE superstars in the last 20 years coming together. I know the match is extraordinary, and the two stars are past their prime, but even the chance of seeing it is amazing. What I would also like the WWE to do is to put the WWE title belt on someone who is a proven champion. Someone like, Carlito. Carlito has had a feud with Cena in the past, and for them to feud would be awesome, and for Carlito to make his stake in the WWE as possibly the next Rock. Not to emulate the "Great One" but we know he has all of the tools. For John Cena to continue on as champion, I would enhance his character,to make him better. Have him try to rap as he comes down to the ring like he did when he was on Smackdown. That was a great concept until one of the creative team shot it down. Or for him to fight in better matches like HBK had done, (Iron-Man Match). That would be better. These are my thoughts. Take them or leave them. -Josh
Do you watch TNA Wrestling? Do you like TNA? I miss Trish Stratus, do you? Team Rated RKO should be placed in a Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match against DX for beating Ric Flair up to a bloody mess. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOO!
Chris Masters should be fired for doing the Masterlock on Torrie and he should face Carlito and The King in a handicap match. Do you like TNA WRESTLING? Do you even watch TNA?
First I wanted to say thank you for taking the time to read these comments and then responding to them. I have been watching the WWE my entire life and have never missed a Monday night or when it used to be on Saturdays and Sundays. I noticed how badly people have buried the ECW December to Dismember and I can honestly say I really didn't hate the show. Granted it could have been a bit better. Do you think many of the fans live probably hated the show more because Hell in the Cell and Elimination chamber matches are difficult to see live? I think with time the new ECW may do quite well. I don't know if you will agree with this, but I think maybe the WWE should add more unknown superstars instead of giving it a Raw or Smackdown minor league feel. There's so many things I want to try and order what do you think someone over here on the East coast would love. Happy Holidays to you and your family.
