J.R. Remembers Bam Bam Bigelow

Posted in:

Bam Bam Bigelow, 42, has been found dead in his home in Pasco Country, Florida of unknown causes it was reported Friday afternoon.

Bam Bam was found dead by his girlfriend in their home in Hudson, Florida. The Police are investigating Bigelow’s death.

I remember Bam Bam as one of the top super heavyweights ever. For a man who topped the scales at nearly 400 pounds and with his shaved, tattooed skull Bam Bam was an extraordinary athlete with a million dollar look. Few men I have ever seen on any athletic field of Bigelow’s size were as agile and athletically gifted as the New Jersey native.

It seems like only a few days ago when Larry Sharpe, who trained Bigelow in the Monster Factory, was making calls to many of the promoters around the country about this big monster that he was training. Bam Bam’s first publicity photos were damn impressive.

Scott “Bam Bam” Bigelow made significant contributions in the WWE, WCW, ECW and in New Japan Pro Wrestling to name a few of the places he worked in a career that began in the early 80’s.

I will always have the greatest respect for the amazing match Bigelow had with NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor at Wrestlemania 11 in Hartford, Connecticut. Bam Bam spent hours working with Pat Patterson, who refereed the match at ‘Mania, preparing to perform in the main event at the biggest wrestling event in the world against a man who was having his FIRST match. Bigelow came through with flying colors.

Bam Bam was very proud of his efforts with LT at ‘Mania 11 and was genuinely touched and had tear filled eyes from the outpouring of congratulations and kind words in the locker room from his peers after the LT match. The big guy who looked like a killer had a kind and gentle heart.

I can never remember having a cross word with Bam Bam in all the years I knew him which was the bulk of his tenure in the business. If you treated Scott like a man and was honest and respectful to him he reciprocated. It was that simple.

Bigelow did some of his most entertaining work after Wrestlemania 11 in ECW and had a memorable run with Tazz.

Bam Bam had a variety of ring injuries and survived a near fatal motorcycle accident and those injuries and other issues plagued the big guy off and on for years.

Scott “Bam Bam” Bigelow will be remembered as an extraordinary athlete and one of the great “big men” of all time much akin to Ernie Ladd, Don Leo Jonathan, Gorilla Monsoon, Vader, and Andre the Giant, among others I am sure I have inadvertently neglected.

We will miss you big fella. God Bless You. Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the late Scott “Bam Bam” Bigelow.

Jim Ross

Bam Bam of course will go down as one of the greatest, most agile big men the sport has ever known. He also had a heart of gold and for me left many, many great memories of him wrestling, from Money Inc., several Wrestlemania's, feuds with Tatanka, Goldberg, Andre, and Tazz, to the first memory I have of him, wrestling at the very first Survivor Series on Hulk's Team vs. Andre's team, being left to face Andre, One Man Gang, and King Kong Bundy by himself, and beating Gang and Bundy. His cartwheels, summersaults, and high flying manuevers will be talked about for years to come. RIP Scott. You're at peace now.
Rest in Peace, Bam Bam. May God bless and keep the Bigelow family during this time of mourning. Look to the hills from which cometh your help.
Thank You Mr Bam Bam Who ever you are.
Bam Bam Bigelow was a great wrestler for a man his size in the ring the match's I realy think where great was when he wrestled bret hart at the 1993 King Of The Ring and the match's he hade with Rob Van Dam and Tazz at ECW.
Bam Bam Bigelow was the best man to wrestle as a big man like him. I would like him to be in the 2008 WWE Hall Of Fame.
I remember Bam Bam Bigelow growing up, when with WCW,ECW, and WWE. When I found out that Bam Bam Bigelow passed away I was down and depressed from hearing the sadden news of a great all time wrestler. Bam Bam Bigelow will be missed.

To Bam Bam and his family, my thoughts and prayers are with you, to remember all the good times you had with Scott. RIP Mr. Bigelow. I've always been a fan, and my memories of you as a wrestler will live forever.
Too many times people look at all of the "bad" in peoples lives,"Bam Bam addicted to pain killers", "Bam Bam not paying child support". How about all the good people like Bam Bam do. You don't here about that stuff. Ive been a wrestling fan for over 25 yrs. I ve followed Bam Bams career ever since he started, and have never been disappointed. One of the best in the sport!! Thank you for your dedication to this sport!! RIP big man.
What more can one say than "an extremely tragic loss"? There have been far, far too many wrestlers die young, no matter what the reason. RIP, Bam Bam! The world will miss you.
In Loving Memory of Scott Charles "Bam Bam" Bigelow (1961-2007) I was shocked when I found out about the death of Scott Charles "Bam Bam" Bigelow. I was at my friend Andrew's house and we were about to watch RAW and just before the show, it came up on the screen, In Loving Memory: Scott "Bam Bam" Bigelow (1961-2007). Bam Bam Bigelow was one of the most talented and hard working wrestlers ever. He weighed near 400 pounds and he could fly around the ring like a lightweight. He was a constant professional as he was always willing to put over smaller guys, NFL player Lawerence Taylor and everyone else and make them all look like a million bucks and he saved some children from their burning house in 2000. Myself and millions of other people are very sad and devastated about Bigelow's passing. He died at an age way too young. His sad, tragic, untimely death has made me cry. I miss you so much Bam Bam. God bless you Bam Bam thank you so much for your entire career and for all the memories. Rest in Peace big man. I love you so much.

Bam Bam was one of the most underrated wrestlers i've ever seen, he wasn't the tipical big guy that couldn't move, it was amazing seeing him in action, he could moonsault, run, and actually wrestle, he was a big guy that didn't move or wrestle like a big guy

It is a sad day today as I learned of Scott's passing. A wonderful human being. J.R. you couldn't have said it better. He will be missed greatly by ALL that had the pleasure of knowing him.
Bam Bam had a awesome carrer and will be missed dearly. My thoughts and my prayers go out to all of his family and freinds. What mourning they must be going through. God Bless you Bam Bam.
His matches against Bret Hart at a house show at MSG and of course the King of the Ring final in 1993 were classics, in my opinion.
R.I.P Bam Bam Bigelow
It seems like yesterday that I was reading in Pro Wrestling Illustrated about this amazing rookie named Bam Bam Bigelow who was doing things no man his size should've been doing. I remember Bammer's start in Memphis, even remember his brief stint as "Crusher Yarkov" in World Class. He'll be missed.
R.I.P Bam Bam, so sad to see another legend go so soon, You will always be in my heart.

who to your opinion (with no disrespect to your wife and any other diva )do you think is the most breath taking Diva EVER to enter the square circle ? long time fan of your JR you and the king ROCK
I just learned about Bam Bam Bigelow's passing and it really surprised me because I can still remember him in ECW. My favourite Bam Bam Bigelow match was:Bam Bam Bigelow vs New Jack at ECW Wrestliepalooza. This match was CRAZY! Weapons Galore! New Jack hit Bam Bam with a hockey stick in the balls at one moment. This match was short because New Jack passed out because he was bleeding so bad! New Jack hit Bigelow off the balcony with a guitar. But Bigelow finished him off with a variation of a Piledriver. Rest In Peace Bam Bam! Your Memory will live on!
bam bam was a true wrestler and a true entertaner and one of if not the best high flying big men in history
