J.R. Addresses Rumors.. King and Hulk.. The Awesome 4 Horseman DVD..

Posted in:
Thanks for all the comments this week. Our website is growing much more quickly than any of us that are involved could have imagined. That’s not a bad thing for sure. Plus, the sales of our 4 sauces and our 4 flavors of Beef Jerky are selling really well. We now have our beef jerky in several retail outlets in Oklahoma, mostly in the OKC/Norman area. Business is picking up without question and we are so thankful to the many of you that are shopping with us. I assure you that your business is appreciated by the entire Ross family. There sure were lots of internet rumors over the past few days about Michael Cole replacing yours truly this fall as the voice of Monday Night Raw. I have no idea how this sort of information gets out there and then takes on a life of its own as if it is factual. I fully expect to continue my tenure with the WWE for years to come and no one in the decision making process has indicated anything to the contrary to me. Do you actually think these executives are speaking to the wrestling internet world? Me neither. These rumors upset Mrs J.R. and my family more than they do me. I still get excited about going to work every week on Monday Night Raw and I am still having fun. I would also like to think that my work doesn’t suck pond water. Perhaps I am wrong. Nonetheless when my run on Raw comes to an end, whenever that may be, I will look back on my WWE career with no regrets. I have had a blessed career and life in our wonderful business over the past four decades. There is plenty of fuel left in this tank, so don’t count me out just yet. I feel, for many reasons, that my best years in broadcasting are ahead of me and I feel really good about the future. Finally, I suggest that you don’t believe everything you read on the internet. Just as I wrote here a few days ago, the proposed match between Jerry Lawler and Hulk Hogan in Memphis was never a done deal and that it had the potential to fall through. That’s exactly what happened. The reason is simple and that is contractually The King cannot appear on VH1 without the consent of the WWE, and this match was to be a part of “Hogan Knows Best” which airs on VH1. Miscommunication in wrestling is nothing new and neither is controversey and for some it seems to follow them around. I assume the King is probably disappointed for the false start, so to speak, with this booking in his hometown, but he did not seem overly upset to me when he called me a day or two ago. As a matter of fact we did not even discuss it and instead talked about our travel to Italy and England and where Adrian Peterson might go in the draft. The King’s Cleveland Browns have the #3 pick in the upcoming NFL draft and they need a running back of which AD is the best coming out of college this season. We got several comments about comments Hulk made about the WWE, etc on The Bubba The Love Sponge Radio Show. I did not hear the remarks so I won’t comment on them specifically. Many fans wonder if Hogan will ever perform in the WWE again or if his tour of duty with the WWE is finally over. I don’t have the definitive answer by any means. I am not in that loop, thank goodness, but I learned a long time ago to never say never about this business. If the money and the opportunity are in place, anything could happen. Reconciliation is a way of life in the wrestling business and it has been that way since the day I got in it in 1974. This is a unique business in case you haven’t noticed, and some unusual things occur seemingly on a regular basis. That’s one of the things that has kept it interesting for me for these many years. No one can rest on one’s laurels and while one may get a thank you for what you contributed “yesterday”, it is “today” that counts. Sounds like the NFL, Major League Baseball, and the movie business to me, so no one should be shocked that the wrestling biz is unpredictable at times. The stories I could tell! I watched the 4 Horseman DVD over the past few days and really enjoyed it. I wholeheartedly encourage all real fans of wrestling to buy this one. It brought back so many great memories and not only are the matches featured classic stuff, but the interviews from the Horsemen’s heydays and the candid comments by those interviewed were honest and nothing was held back. There will be some ruffled feathers over some of the remarks that were made, but such is life I suppose. I was mentioned in a review of the DVD on a website saying I took a “cheap shot” when I talked about the NWA Title back in the day when the Champ traveled the world and wrestled dozens of different opponents during the year while being on the road no less than 50 weeks annually being the time that the NWA Title really meant something special. I assume some conspiracy theorist ascertained that I was taking a shot at today’s NWA Title which is simply not true. If I had wanted to knock the current NWA Title picture I could have done so, but why? I also was called out in this review regarding something I said about WCW wanting Luger to become their Hulk. That wasn’t going to happen. Same results on the Lex Express. It just wasn’t in the cards. I simply gave my opinion, which is not against the law last I looked. Some fans were curious as to why Ole Anderson and Lex Luger were not interviewed for this must see DVD. I don’t know. Perhaps they were not interested or perhaps they were unavailable. Having the outspoken Ole make his feelings known would have been especially interesting, but even without Ole and Luger this DVD is awesome. I hope you will check it out and relive some of the most fun years I ever had in the business. I am thankful to have survived it because there were many mornings I did not think I was going to. When the Horsemen wanted to party it was an all nighter and then some. The “then some” is what bit me in my Okie backside more often than not. Nonetheless I would not have traded any of those all nighters for anything and the fun I had, especially with Ric Flair and Arn Anderson, would make a whole week of shows for Dr. Phil. What a reality show it would have been simply having a camera follow the Horsemen around when they were running wide open! It would have definitely been a made for premium cable vehicle. Thank goodness I met Mrs. J.R. when I did, which changed my priorities or I might simply be the answer to a wrestling trivia question nowadays. Speaking of Horsemen, Barry Windham is now working with the WWE and seems to be enjoying the experience. Getting used to the travel is challenging for anyone who has not been on the road on a regular basis, but Barry was always a good traveler and I feel good that he will adjust well. What an in ring performer was B.W., the son of WWE Hall of Famer Blackjack Mulligan who was also a former New York Jet. Blackjack also once decided that he and the late Dick Murdoch would “take out Andre” when the three were doing some major league drinking way back in the day. Needless to say, Andre came thru this wild west-like scenario without a scratch which is extraordinary, especially when you understand that Mulligan and Murdoch were two tougher than a $2 steak son of a guns. I will been providing you updates from my “European Vacation” over the next few days. It’s to Milan first and then on to London for a few days preparing for Monday Night Raw and seeing the sights of England. Look kids…Big Ben! BOOMER SOONER! J.R.

Hi Jim I was very pleased and dissapointed in the Horsemen dvd,the positive sides was the interviews with the Horsemen and people omvolved I enjoyed the other wrestlers talking about their memories and impressions of the group and the times they went through. The one biggest thing I don't understand is dx had 2 different dvd's released ,and they were both 3 disc and the Horsemen only got 2 discs, this whole thing could've been and should've been longer, you all should do another one,you left out some great matches and some great interviews, please pay them the respect they deserve. I hope you make a tribute dvd to Freebirds and Bruiser Brody. Sure hope you guys know your pissing alot of Ric Flair fans off by buring him week after week, the greatest of all time deserves so much better,I personally am giving this till December to see if he begans getting the respect he deserves if not I'm out,I'm sure you won't print this, but believe me there are many that feel the same way.
Hey J.R. Just wanted to let you know that we really enjoy monday night raw (and wwe)! You and King both do a great job, and I hope you keep doing it for a long time. We watch ecw, and smackdown, but its just not the same without your commentary! We really missed ya when you were off, and I hope that WWE realizes how important and crucial you are to keeping monday night raw a success! i tell ya, when joey was there, and coach, it just wasnt there with them. They dont come close to calling matches and commentary like you do! My son, Caleb (he's 7) even said that he missed you when you were gone! Its just not Mon Night Raw without J.R.!!! Keep up the awesome job! And congratulations on The Hall Of Fame! I couldnt think of anyone more deserving!
Hey JR glad to see your having fun over this side of the world. the question i would like to aske you is. do you think TNA will last or will they end up being crushed by other wrestling shows like THE WWE.
hey jr! first off just want to say congrats on the hall of fame induction this year. well deserved. my question is how do you feel about active employees who are working for the wwe that are inducted to the hall of fame? i read a lot of websites and they are negative about it. im mean, i dont care if there active still like yourself. but just wanted to get your feed back on that. hope your having fun in london.
just watched 4 horseman dvd and brought back great memories from the mid-80s. now i wish they would put out a dvd on the best of bill watts UWF from that era. It may have only had a couple of years but it helped shape wrestling as UWF first gave us Sting, rick steiner, eddie gilbert, dr. death, barry windham as western states heritege champion, shane douglas was rookie of the year, terry taylor was tv champ, does any one out there remember any of this. please vince get the footage and put out a UWF dvd
Now that TNA no longer is associated with the NWA, where is the NWA title being defended now? P.S. Congrats on the Hall of Fame! You deserve it.
Hey JR, Will you be selling any of your sauces or jerky at Backlash? I am in need of a refill!!!
Hi, JR! You always have said that Scott Hall has a great wrestling mind. Would you please kindly expound on the professional definition of a ‘wrestling mind’? And also, aside from his physical abilities, how different is HBK of today from HBK of the 90s with regards to his wrestling mind and all other facets of wrestling? Thanks a lot!
I didnt not mean anything thing negative towards JR in my previous post to this blog. I have TONS of respect for JR and think he is by far the best play by play man to ever be in this business! I really tried in the beginning and ending of my post to make sure JR did nottake any offense to my comments. I realize he is not the owner, the writer, the booker, etc etc etc. I just think its a shame that PEOPLE (not including JR) want us to believe that this match was canceled because of a conflict with VH1. Thats simply not true. We (the smart wrestling fans) know the real reason. Anyway, i would like to apologize to anyone (not including the McMahons) that was offended by my comments, especially you Jim Ross. You are the man and i appreciate everything you have did for this business over the last 30 years. Thanks man and keep up the great work!
RE: Andy It's all over the web that Sheamus O'shaunessy had a dark match with Jimmy Wang Yang at Smackdown in Milan so JR probably didn't get to see him.
Jim Ross IS monday night raw. Without you on the raw commentary team, it wouldn't be half the show, and that is the truth. You and The King make the show what it is, and that is something that the Smackdown and ECW commentary teams can't do. Good look for Raw in the UK, i'll be there. P.S. The draft is coming up soon, and i am a huge Cowboys fan, just wondering what we should be looking for?
Dr. J R I have been a huge fan of yours since the Old Bill Watts UWF days and congrats on going into the hall. I was wondering is there ever gonna be a Booker T DVD I don't know why there has not been 1 yety especially after he won thw world title Both Beniot and Edd1e got 1 that was deserving in both cases so why didn't Booker. I think going from the streets of Houston and the trouble he got into as a youth to becoming a King and eventually World champ would make a great DVD thats just me looking at recent DVD's RVD before he won the title, I think even Cena' has 1 before he won the title and there is probably alist bigger than that.
This Santino Marella who beat Umaga for the IC belt;is this a debut or just a gimmick for the euro tour? And can he possibly be related to Gorilla Monsoon? If it is a debut for this young man,it's the best one I've seen in a long time. I'm hoping this was a way to take the IC belt from Umaga,I'd like to see him head over to ECW and battle Lashley some more.Do you think having both Umaga and Khali in the same brand is a little too crowded?
Howdy J.R., First, congrats on making the Hall of Fame, you deserve it. Also, great to see that the website and the store are doing so well. Now on to my question. I am doing an article for my news/article class at N.C. State on pro wrestling and specifically why people love it. You have probably heard this question a million times before but what exactly got you interested in wrestling and what keeps you a fan? In other words, what would you say to defend wrestling to a non-believer who passes it off as "fake?" I can say that the feeling I get watching the unbelievable and surreal, the things that just don't happen in real life, happen on my T.V. screen every week keeps me coming back for more all the time. Not to mention that the emotion I feel during all those moments, be it a debut on RAW or Benoit's title win at Wrestlemania XX, is perfectly put into words by your emotion and fantastic announcing. I think I speak for a lot of us when I say that it's just not the same without you behind the desk. Thanks for reading this and considering that NCSU isn't doing quite so well in the sports department, Go Sooners!
hi jr i loved your barcue sauce ill buy more soon agian i had some while watching tna ppv still have some more left ill save that for backlash ppv but your sauce rocks and i wanna know u ever see wwe raw returning to manhatthan center one day for old times sake
Hey JR, Ater reading your comments on all three brands having matches on all PPVs don't you think that this will kill all thelower card talent? I mean already backlash has all the main eventers from everyshow on it. Explain how this helps build talent. Im sure that it will help buyrates but WWE needs to build lower card talent. I read that Paul London has never appeared on Wrestlemania. And hes is in a tag team, that has held tag titles the fourth longest in WWe history. I'd much rather watch him wrestle than Kane or Undertaker for that matter. Im my opinion this is a big mistake on WWE's part. WWE signed way too many wrestlers and most of them no one knws about because they are in dark matches or on heat. Also who from ROH( my favorite promotion) would you like to see in WWe soon?
Dear Mr Ross, First of all let me congratulate you for your recent entry into the WWE Hall of Fame. I truly believe that you deserve to be there as much as anyone. I agree with Triple H; I believe you're as good as the great Gordon Solie ever was. And boy was he good! I'd like to comment of the Shawn Micaels/John Cena match from W23, which frankly made no sense to me at all. Now I'm not criticising you at all, sir, I'm simply making use of this great facility you've made available and offering my two cents. Unlike many pro wrestling fans, it seems, I wasn't disappointed with the match per se. Yes, I agree with those who say that Cena undersold the leg injury. Frankly, he did. However that's part of the show. It's to be expected, otherwise the show wouldn't go on. I thought Shawn put on a very good show. I was pleased that he didn't go into over-dramatic mode, which I think sometimes distracts from the otherwise very good, often great, performances he generally puts on. All in all I was pleased with the match, until the end. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, in my estimation to have Michaels tap-out to Cena, other than perhaps the long-term rub it provides Cena. Michaels, I think I can state confidently is generally a bigger draw than Cena. One need only listen to the audience to realise that. I like Cena, I'm sure many do, but unfortunately for him he seems to attract a degree of x-pac heat, and even if he was truly over he's got a long way to go in terms of ring refinement. So in terms of pure fiscal business I'm sure Michaels is a far bigger draw. Therefore in a business context it didn't make sense to me to have Michaels tap-out a W23. So I try to justify it in pure wrestling terms, but that makes even less sense. Michaels tapped-out to Angle, OK, fair enough. I didn't particularly like it but it could be legitimised. Angle is an Olympic champion and has a reputation as a more than capable grappler/submission wrestler. But to have Cena, a very green and very limited wrestler, make Michaels, a 20-year veteran and multiple-time champion, tap is senseless. It was bad enough Beniot tapping on Raw, but Michaels at W23? An affront to serious pro wrestling fans. Beniot making Michaels tap could be legitimised (in wrestling terms, though, as with Cena, probably not in drawing terms). The only justification I can make is, as I mention above, the long-term investment in Cena. But wrestling is ultimately a short-term business. Something can happen today and be forgotten, almost erased, by next week. Thus I don't think it will matter particularly 3 years down the line when Michaels is retired and Cena is sill performing. Likewise the result of the Michaels/Orton match on Raw was a senseless re-enactment of a Michaels/Triple H match from Raw a few years back which ended in the same nonsensical manner. Did the rules of the cover change, unannounced, for that one particular match? I'm a doctoral candidate at the University of London here in the UK and I try regularly to legitimise pro wrestling (namely WWE) to my colleagues. I am even trying to persuade an associate to include pro wrestling in a course he is formulating on the historical, cultural and economic significance of US sports. But when senseless nonesense, such as what occured on Raw last week, happens it makes it all the more difficult to legitimise the great sport-art of pro wrestling to sceptical individuals. Sorry for the length of this diatribe. Again, it's not aimed at you, sir. But I would certainly welcome, and humbly appreciate, your thoughts. Good luck for the Raw show here in London next week. I hope it's a success. I'm really looking forward to it. Best wishes, Craig, London, UK
Hey J.R., Just one question/comment topic. On Raw last night I noticed that Johnny Nitro used Ravishing Rick Rude's neck breaker as a finisher. Is this going to be his new finisher? He even swayed his hips like Rude. If this is his new move, then I applaud him and WWE for bringing back some nostalgia and one hell of a finisher. Longtime Fan, Jeremiah
Jim...I watched the biography part of The 4 Horsemen DVD and it was great. I loved the old World Wide Wrestling days of the NWA. I was wondering which version of the Horsemen you liked the best??? To me the best were Ole Arn Tully Ric and then Luger then Windham. It seems after that they were adding and dropping with new members at the drop of a hat but that was mostly the promotions fault. Chris Benoit should have been in it much earlier. Thanks. Richard.
Hey Jim, great blog as useua - Is our new IC Champion actually a wrestler, I've heard rumors that he has wrestled in OVW for a while. Raw really shocked me when he won, I hope he becomes a solid performer on the roster. What are your thoughts about him?
so who beat andre before wrestlemana III? I heard that both Jerry Lawler and Harly race not only beat him, but also body slammed him is that true?
Hey JR, long time reader, first time poster. I was curious about your thoughts on Cena being booed out of the building at Wrestlemania? Not to sound like an internet nerd, but to say the man gets a "mixed reaction" is a bit of an understatement. As soon as the "RAPAADDDOOOOO!" hits the audience erupts into female cheers, little kid cheers and everyone else boos. I think part of the problem is that he's constantly pushed as an underdog, yet his reign as champ is more over-bearing then Hulk in the 80's. Frankly, it's been annoying to tune into RAW every week and basically see "HOW WILL JOHN CENA OVERCOME THE ODDS TONIGHT, KING!?" and then of course he wins in a dominant fashion. I really enjoy your blog and think you're one the best things to happen to the business, so I was curious about your thoughts on this matter? -Stephen
What's up, JR? I've been trying to reach you for a month on the blog, but to no avail because I usually get lost in the shuffle. Now I have an open opportunity! There is a lot on my mind that I need your expertise on: First off, I'm wondering about your thoughts on DDP. You've probably addressed this before, but I wanted to know if you think he is one of the all-time greats. Secondly, I want to get your 2 cents on Wrestling Society X. This leads me to my next perplexity--so many traditionalists and insiders, like Wade Keller, are down on "indy spot-monkeys." They point to this past Sunday's Lockdown (did you happen to see it, by the way?) when AJ Styles was hurled off the cage to the floor by Kurt Angle. They don't think such things are worth it, as they saturate the scene today, and blame fans and complying bookers. Harley Race even commented on this (funny, seeing he was at the PPV) by saying wrestling will be "cartoons" in a generation. Your thoughts? Finally, TNA being on the road so much more now is a major step. I know they have a long way to go--not that I want them to go down in flames trying to compete with the E--but do you, as a fan, like the direction they're headed. Also, you worked with Russo; do you believe the stuff people say about him creatively? Hope you had a wonderful Easter and God Bless.
hey JR, just wondering if you have any more updates for us about roddy piper? i miss the guy and hope he's well. hope to see him on RAW soon... thanks, Tony Taco
Hi J.R. I've been a fan of yours since your days with the UWF. Here are my questions: Is Santino Marella any relation to Joseph Marella? Also, when will Kennedy become a baby face and start to electrify the crowd, much like Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock had done in the late '90's? Last, where can I get ahold of some of your barbeque sauce? I live in North Carolina, but I'm not sure if you have mentioned that you will begin selling it outside of Oklahoma. (And please keep it mild--original or honey flavored only--my stomach cannot take the hot stuff.) Best wishes on a continued successful career. Randy
Hey JR - quick question for you. During the 4 Horsemen DVD (which I just watched yesterday and I agree, was an awesome story) Arn Anderson seemed to stay in character the whole time as the Enforcer (i.e. talking about actually breaking someone's leg, arm, etc. and Ole's removal from the Horsemen) Was I just imagining this or did you notice this as well?
Have you ever considered Monday nights some years from now, without any form of Wrestling? What if the channels refuseto carry it? Like how TNT dropped WCW.....? What if there's no more MONDAY NIGHT RAW?
Who is behind John Cena's gimmick idea ? Will Cena ever turn heel this year? WHy is Vince booking him as the next Austin/Rock/Hogan? OK. He is a very good worker considering the efforts he has taken....but when why play to the kids? Wrestling is not for the kids....the whole cena character is so lame as of now...unless he turns heel ....(and oh he can carry the whole promotion by himself, to the give the guy the credit)....
Hey JR, I just read this particular article concerning Stone Cold Steve Austin's interview on The Hour with George Stropolopolis on CBC in which Austin stated that ‘He could work as a top star for 2 years at WWE's schedule but isn't and will never be at the 120% he was before and he is only now 99%’. This implying that Austin could still perform a regular top level schedule at 99%. Is there only me that feels that Austin at 60% is still better than most guys on the roster now let alone him being at almost 100%? This does make me wonder if he has one more run in him. I would hate to see him injured again obviously and I know he is a true worker and would hate to give anything other than his best, but 99% of Austin would surely be better than 120% of the guys there now? What's your opinion on this JR?
Another thing... I had a dream last night about reforming the Four Horsemen. It was really weird. I want to quickly share it with you... Ric Flair was upset about losing matches in recent weeks. Flair kept saying he was a 16 time World Champion and didn't get the respect he deserved. Flair wanted to reform the 4 Horsemen.. and wanted Arn Anderson to be the manager. Flair recruited Chris Benoit, Shawn Michaels and he wanted wrestlers to step up and prove themselves to get the 4th spot. It would be cool to see the 4 Horsemen form again. What do you think about the dream?
Hi J.R.!! RAW was so good from Italy last night. It goes to show you that anything can really happen in the WWE. Santino winning the Intercontinental championship was pretty cool and the Italians loved it!!! What do you think the chances of Harry Smith debuting next week on RAW from London, England are? It would be another WWE moment to see Harry Smith debut and have a match with Santino for the Intercontinental championship. The fans from London would love it! Take care, Carlos
JR. I agree with you that AD would be a good fit at # 3 for the Browns, I do think they will end up taking Brady Quinn. They need help everywhere I guess. I also wanted to agree with you about the 4 Hoursement DVD. While it was missing Ole Anderson, I thought it was great that Tully was on the DVD and nothing was really skipped. I greatly enjoy all of the WWE DVD's about superstars, with the insights from the stars themselves. The WWE continually outdoes themselves every year with DVD's. I think one that would be great for the future would be about NWA/WCW stars (Such as Barry Windham, Tully, etc etc) from the mid to late 80's, sort of like a 15 or 20 minute segment on their pasts, present, etc. Thanks for the great work.
Hey JR, I have a couple things I wanna touch on after last night's raw, one thing i have to say is thank you for taking the intercontinental title off of Umaga, it was wasting space around his waist as to where he was already hyped too far up for that belt and two what are the possibilities of a 4 horsemen return, Flair, Benoit, ???, ??? just miss the horsemen and the new dvd reminded me of the greatest stable ever
Hi J.R., I've been reading your blog the last few weeks and would just like to say it is interesting to hear your insights into the wrestling world. I'm please to hear you dispel those particular rumours. It is no disrespect to Michael Cole (nor Joey Styles from last year as I think both do their jobs well) to say that Raw wpuldn't be anywhere near as good without you and the King together on commentary. I don't mean to be a kiss ass but I appreciate what you do. I watched Wrestlemania 22 back again last week (in my Wrestlemania 23 hangover!) and listening to the HBK v Vince match brough many a smile to my face! I finally managed to get tickets to a WWE event when you guys are in the UK so I very much look forward to seeing the show on Monday. On a side note I would be interested to hear your thoughts on Shelton Benjamin. Your commentary when he came over to Raw suggested you were a big fan of his wrestling capabilites. I was pretty gutted to see he's been placed back with Charlie Haas, then he missed Wrestlemania and seems to be getting pinned for fun at the moment. I'd like to see him get a push sometime this year because I suggest he has the potential to be near the top of the card. Apologies for the essay, I hope you enjoy your time in Europe. James Atkin, Keele Uni, England.
hey, JR Will sting ever be in the wwe. The way yoou call a sting match is classic. I want onee more JR calling the stinger match. Congrats on HOF i was there what a night
Hey JR!! I noticed on Raw from Milan, you were praising Lance Cade more often than any young superstar in a long time. I think you are SPOT ON here...he seems to be in line to become a HUGE superstar in the upcoming years. I feel though, he might be more suited for a Hollywood look (i.e. like Austin when he was "Stunning Steve"). He is charismatic enough to pull it off and be a great heel. Does he have a large ego backstage??? I hope not, because he has the look and the skills to go FAR!!! Thanks JR!!
Hey JR did you get to see Sheamus O'Shaunessy wrestle in Milan, in a dark match or a try out? It was reported on the web that he was there....
Hey, JR, Great site! I have not had the chance to get to your BBQ yet...but am looking forward to trying your jerky. It sounds very good. I am a life-long fan. I grew up watching mostly TBS with my Grandpa in the 80's, and the WWF/E as well. I have great memories from that period. Once in a while you will "spin a yarn" about the old days, and I love that stuff. Without giving away too much fodder for a possible autobiography...could you tell more stories from the road back in the day? I think we feel like we know the wrestlers/announcers from the TV exposure...but I LOVE hearing the behind-the-scenes stories. Greg Trumbold Illinois Thanks for having such passion for your business. It has allowed countless millions to live vicariously through you. You are this generations Gordon Solie!
Hi JR Quick jerky related question. Im dont know much about the subject but the jerky im used to eating is pretty tough but tasty enough. Is yours tough and chewy or is it softer than the big brands?
J.R., Is there any chance that Terry Funk and Dory Funk, Jr will be inducted to the WWE Hall Of Fame?
Hey JR, how do you feel about new WWE talent winning championships their first night on live television (like Santino Marella, Carlito, Christian, etc.)? Do you think it's a good move to push them so fast, or do you think they should wait it out? -menly
I agree with your comments on cade and murdoch and im also a big fan of london and kendrick. I also think its a shame MNM are no longer together, even though that cant be helped, because i feel the tag division is starting to rise in quality since its 1999-2001 peak. Dont get me wrong, i dont blame any of the wrestlers in the division in the 5 year gap i mention,i think it would be near impossible for anyone to follow Edge/Christian, the dudleys and the Hardys at that point. I think currently its one genuine team short and i really believe that could be ROHs Briscoe brothers Jay and Mark. I was just wondering what your thoughts are on them? Thanks
Hey JR Was Khali's jaw broken at one point and never healed correctly for when he yells or talks his jaw seems to go over more to one side? Maybe you can shed a little light on that.
Hey J.R! I just wanted to say that I learn a lot from reading your comments and I enjoy hearing you and the King every week broadcasting. As an aspiring WWE broadcaster, I was wondering if you could spare a few words of advice for me? I would really appreciate it. Keep up the great work! Congrats on making the Hall of Fame. It was quite deserved!
What did you think of paul roma as a horseman? I am probably the only one but I kinda liked roma in that role.(although I still think barry windam was the best 4th horseman)but I think roma was good in the role and I wish they would have given him more time to develop. It was a big improvement from his wwf role
Hi JR, Congratulations on the Hall of Fame, and the work you do on Raw each and every week, and also this website which is an almost daily highlight for me. I want to ask your thoughts on the montreal screwjob, I watched the Bret DVD again last night and I wouldn't mind knowing what your thoughts are? and what would you have done in McMahon's position back then, given the level of competition from WCW. Why do you think Bret's run in WCW was so much of an underachievement? Keep up the great work Bass Melbourne Australia
Heya JR, man im a big fan of yours, without you WWE just wouldn't be the same! Also congrats on Hall of Fame, this year was great they all deserved it! I got a couple quests if you'd honor me with an answer, i'll try not to ask something that people have already asked. 1: What do you think of gimmicks VS actual wrestling talent? No offense to John Cena but I think wrestlers like him are hindered by flashy gimmicks that in the end people get tired of seeing because it forces him to use these egotistical, flashy, drawn out moves that people get sick of eventually. 2: What do you think of Sabu As a Wrestler as a person? He's really what made me love wrestling that match with him VS Tommy Dreamer in the Barbed Wire Match for the ECW Title! Man what a wrestler, I remember he taped up a wound that would later need stitches, and he just taped it up so he could keep wrestling that match!! 3: What do you think of 'Hardcore' Wrestlers like Mick Foley and Sabu that put their bodies on the line when they wrestle. What do you they've contributed to the legacy of the WWE? Not really a question but an overall reminder to the posters here, I read the stuff they've posted around the Hall of Fame time and wow does that bring out the worst in people. I'd like to kindly remind everyone that there are few wrestlers that DON'T deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. Every wrestler puts their bodies on the line for your entertainment so don't disrespect them by saying they suck or they don't deserve it. Most of all don't insult JR who writes on this blog of his own free will for all of us! Anyways thanks taking the time to read my questions JR!
Mr. Ross, I have nothing but respect for you; everything you have done in the past thirty years in this business is remarkable, that's why you are deserving of your title of Hall of Famer. However sir, I MUST question your decision, at the age of fifty-five, to travel from Stateside to Europe, back to Stateside, and back to Europe again. Sir I understand how much you love your wife, and how busy she must be getting ready for the restaurant opening, but sir what toll are you willing to put your body through just to spend time with her??? Much Respect from an Army Veteran of the Iraq war, SPC matthew W. Mclaughlin
i guess Shane o mack ain't getting his head shaved. False advertising for that was promoted through out the whole show that evening. He lost by DQ, but its still a loss and to their agreement last week he gets his head shaved.
Have fun in Europe! I will say hello for you to James J. Dillon, Pat Patterson, "Dr. Death" Steve Williams (I read his book and loved it), Bret Hart, etc. at the Cauliflower Alley Club convention in Las Vegas this weekend. I'm real excited for the time off to attend this year's festivities as Friday night we will be honoring Canada's contribution to pro wrestling. Brian Westcott from Meridian, Idaho
