As Ben Grimm will say in the next FF4 movie… it’s clobbering time! Oh, and also time to address some more of your comments…

Katherine- I listen to my friend Toby Keith’s music a great deal. I also like the classic country like Merle Haggard, George Jones, George Strait, Alabama, John Anderson and I love Hank, Jr. But still, the Eagles are “my band.” While still living in Connecticut, Mrs. J.R. and I had the incredible fortune to sit front row center for a 3+ hour Eagles concert at Foxwoods Casino that I will never forget. Back slowly away from the grill… lay down your tongs… and listen very closely… it’s time to address more of your comments!

Bill- What’s the deal with Snitsky’s teeth? Hell, Bill, they’re YELLOW and they made us look! Another illustration that the former offensive tackle at Missouri isn’t just another pretty face.

Sean- I would suggest that with the injury situation as it is in the WWE, that the future of DX is somewhat in jeopardy. I don’t have your answer, but my instincts tell me that when they are healthy, HBK and HHH will remain allies, but will do their own thing. Again, that is merely a guess on my part. Regarding Steve Austin, he appears on Raw when he is called upon to do so. Steve enjoys being back on RAW when asked, and loves the occasional, cold beverage with “the boys.” (more…)

Let’s get to your comments, Pilgrim, before we overcook the Bar-B-Q……

Tom- I casually follow soccer/football. The last time we were in London we stayed at the Chelsea Millennium Hotel and our crew and I followed the Chelsea Football club somewhat by default. Some WWE staffers are from the Liverpool area and are big fans of their team there. I do appreciate the skills of the athletes.

Michael- Will the WWE ever have a one night Tournament again? For what title or for what reason? I don’t know what you are referring to, but having a one night tourney isn’t far fetched at some point. I like tournaments in wrestling. (more…)

I have been asked to comment on a variety of situations where wrestlers have been released from the WWE or other companies, especially in recent weeks. From my experience, no one involved in this process enjoys it. It is never a good day when someone loses their job. Trust me, as I have been on both sides of the coin on this matter. For anyone to surmise that people in management enjoy making others’ lives miserable is borderline ignorant. Releasing talent is somewhat of a subjective thing at times, and is a judgment call in many instances. Sometimes the releasing of talent is long past due and inevitable and usually is a group decision to a large degree. I have had the task of releasing wrestlers who were probably provided too many “second chances” in hindsight, but even though these aforementioned wrestlers needed to leave, it did not make it any easier. There are usually good reasons for talent being released, including the talent being unhappy and “wanting out.” Dismissals are somewhat like injuries, in that when the roster changes, it gives others the opportunity to “run with the ball.” Here again lies another misconception – that management TOTALLY controls who “steps up” and who doesn’t. “Stepping up” is a personal choice and if more young talents would do things when they are in the ring to distinguish themselves, we would not be receiving the same questions over and over about why “wrestler X” is “being held back.” Wrestlers are on the road 51 weeks a year with most of those events not televised. Wrestlers have many chances to step up and “steal the show” at these events, plus conduct themselves as a professional during these tours. Does that mean that wrestling management hasn’t missed on some talents? Of course not. That has happened many times in the past and will continue in the future. (more…)

It’s good to be home after venturing to St. Louis and the Quad Cities this week. I always consider it a successful mission if I make it back to Norman safe and sound. St. Louis is a special wrestling city and it is always an honor to work there as I have in the past. I missed the John Deere museum in Moline, again, dammit, as King hit the mall in the rental car and I stayed behind at the hotel to get ready for Raw, which “might” be code for taking a nap.

From our household to the Jarrett household, my wife Jan and I want to wish our heartfelt condolences to Jeff Jarrett and his family for the loss of Jeff’s wife Tuesday night who was suffering from cancer. God Bless them and I think that all of us saying a prayer regarding this tragedy and loss of a Mom and Wife and Friend would be most appreciated. (more…)

Times a wasting, you Sauce and Jerky freaks! Let’s address some comments…

Vanilla Wafa- Dusty Rhodes’ TV commentary as The Dream, is naturally, was always entertaining. Dusty can verbalize with the best, even though he “borrowed” a few of my clichés that I “borrowed” from others when he was on TBS. Seriously, Dusty is one of the most entertaining people I have met in the business, even though he is a die hard Texas Longhorn fan.

Adam- Ed Ferrera’s rendition of “Oklahoma” was what it was… a guy doing his job. Did I like it? Not really, would you? Nonetheless, those days are long gone and I have zero ill will over this subjective creative material. There isn’t any “poor me” regarding this matter, that’s for damn sure. (more…)

I am not sure how this Randy Savage business got started but I would like to address it.

Firstly, no one has told me or ordered me to stop talking about Randy Savage. Randy was a tremendous wrestler who was an excellent in ring performer long before he came to the WWE. As a matter of fact, Bill Watts and I discussed hiring Savage in Mid South Wrestling just prior to Randy arriving in the WWE. We even produced a music video of Savage that never aired because he headed North. Randy made the best business call he could have made by making that decision, but I would be lying if I said I would not have liked to have seen Savage in Mid South, albeit for a brief time if that would have been in the cards.

Savage’s matches vs. Ricky Steamboat, among others, were big time and their Wrestlemania match was one of the best ‘Mania matches ever. There is no doubt in my mind that a Savage DVD would be ho,t but as I have stated before that is not my decision. I would be surprised if the WWE did not produce a Savage DVD some day, but that is only one man’s opinion. As for being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, does Randy Savage merit induction? Of course he does. Will he ever be inducted? I have no idea. Would Randy accept the honor if asked? I have no idea. Randy and I were never at the same place long enough to build a relationship, but I certainly respect his work and the intensity with which he approached his craft. We are not blocking Randy Savage questions, but do I think we have covered his potential induction into the WWE Hall of Fame quite adequately. Savage made significant contributions to the WWE over the years and was the sparkplug of the roster for a good while. Those contributions are everlasting. Was Randy complex and controversial at times? Absolutely, but that is not an indictment to his talent. Being different and being a “lightning rod” are assets in the wrestling biz. (more…)

Thanks for checking out our site, and for those that are regular visitors, thank you for continuing to support our efforts by becoming customers in our store. Our Jerky and Sauce sales are still doing better than we forecast thanks to you. We will soon be changing our latest “Hall of Fame special,” so stay tuned for that news coming any day now.

We are still on target to open J.R.’s Family Bar-B-Q in Norman, Oklahoma at I-35 and Main Street at the location that was formerly a Krispy Kreme. The construction crew is rocking along and now that it has stopped raining for a few days here in Oklahoma, the exterior of the place is starting to look noticeably different. (more…)

Thanks for providing us with so much feedback on the opportunity to buy a signed “J.R.’s Cook Book” and all your T shirt and other merchandise ideas. They are all greatly appreciated. Business has picked up in our store here on the site and we are definitely appreciative of that as well. You guys are the best! Our Beef Jerky is becoming a big time favorite. WWE.com’s Shopzone is selling some flavors of our sauce and our Jerky and they ship worldwide, so for you folks outside the USA, you might want to check out the WWE site and place your orders there. I confirmed that they ship everywhere this week, so if you’ve been waiting for it, you can order it from WWE! Below is the link to take you right there when you’re ready to order! If you go through the WWE SHOP main page, the J.R. items are listed under “Other Merchandise.” We are still working on the paperwork and such to get this done for our own site. I don’t have a timeline as to when this task will be completed. As far as ordering your sauce and jerky RIGHT NOW and getting it ASAP, WWE has a huge shipping department that ships all over the world already

Click here to order J.R.’s Family Bar-B-Q sauce or Beef Jerky from WWE Shop to get worldwide shipping.

I hope every one is having a great week. Things are well here in rainy Oklahoma and we have been fortunate to not have had any tornado issues in Norman unlike some of our neighbors to the west and north of us. The construction at our restaurant is coming along really well and it looks like we will be open for business on June 27 as it now stands. We will be open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner or “supper” as we often times refer to it here in Oklahoma. We will try and get some photos of the restaurant on the site to keep every one abreast of how things are progressing. I do know that we will have a huge sign that will feature my black hat about 50 feet up in the air which should be quite the sight. We recently bought a state of the art smoker for use at our restaurant and our crack staff led by master smoker Tim Smith, who is hard at work breaking it in. We plan on sampling some of Tim’s cooking this weekend with family. Exciting Bar-B-Q times certainly lie ahead for us and I hope many of you are able to visit us in the future.

There were a slew of comments this week about the announcement of Edge winning the world title prior to it airing on Friday Night Smackdown. This is a subject matter that probably doesn’t have a totally right or totally wrong answer. I wasn’t personally bothered by the announcement and as a matter of fact it makes me really want to see how it all comes about and I have already set my DVR just in case something causes me to miss the original airing. Those that don’t like it will never like it but some on the fence may have a definitive opinion on this matter if the Smackdown TV rating is enhanced this week. Time will tell as it relates to the ratings but I know I will not miss this TV show this week come hell or high water. (more…)
