My older brother lives in Norman. when i go to see him, he says we will eat at JR's BBQ!!!! coolness! When will WWE come back to mine and your great state of Oklahoma JR? We are ready for them! BOOMER SOONER!!!!
do u think benoit would have been inducted in the wwe hall of fame if this incident wouldn't of happened? i think so and i understand he won't anymore since the wwe doesn't want any more controversy than there already is... still i think he was one of the greats...
why didn't the wwe give dean malenko a bigger push... i know he had the wwe lightweight belt for a while, but people dont know that he was once ranked #1 in the pwi 500...... in my mind one of the best technical wrestler around that didn't need a gimmick for me to watch him wrestle........
how come the wwe doesn't have anybody with a gimmick like chris kanyon where he makes up different moves and has a surprise new cool finisher on different shows? like what theu use to call him wcw the innovator of offense
do u know of perry saturn's where abouts???
why doesn't the wwe bring back old school tag teams like demolition? and let barry and bill manage them? u could have them come out on raw and let the legend killer randy orton beat them up, and then let the 2 new members of demolition get back at randy..... and now u have a new/ old school type of tag team.....or else u can do that with l.o.d's animal??? just a suggestion......
JR, what's your take on Khali as World Champion?! Personally, i imagine David Arquette must have just felt the urge to lie down in a box and then turn over repeatedly. Mr. Singh may well be a marvelous human being behind the scenes, but on those enormous feet are worn some equally enormous bowling shoes if you take my meaning...i'm just sayin'.
J.R., Congratulations to you and Mrs. J.R. on the successful opening of your restaurant. I wish you the best in your new venture and maybe we will get to see a J.R. show on the Food Network in the near future. Not to make you feel old or anything, but I first heard your commentating skills in 1986, the first time I saw a UWF telecast. My mother had just re-married and I was meeting my step-father's parents, brothers, and sister for the first time. They heard that I was a huge wrestling fan and invited me to sit and watch the regular Saturday night wrestling telecast. At the time, I was living in a small community near the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri and we got most of our regular television programming from Springfield, a small college town to the southwest of us. Back then, the only wrestling I had ever watched was the WWF. But on that particular Saturday night, I saw wrestling like I had never seen before, much different from the very children based broadcasts that came out of the WWF at that time. Watching one UWF show made me an even bigger fan than before. My new family said that while visiting family members in Oklahoma, they saw the UWF on tv and became hooked. It just so happened that our Fox channel in Sprinfield broadcast wrestling on Saturday nights and soon after on Saturday mornings as well. I got to see great talent from the UWF, the AWA, World Class, the WWF and of course when the UWF and NWA merged into the WCW. It was a wrestling fans dream. I even had a friend whose father recorded NWA shows for him and started watching those on a regular basis. For any information that I didn't get, I started buying wrestling magazines, from Inside Wrestling to Pro Wrestling Illustrated. But it all started from that first UWF telecast and hearing you commentate for the first time. Now, I am an old school fan. I enjoyed watching the guys from that era and the performances they put in interviews and in the ring. Don't get me wrong, I respect everyone involved in the business and the current talent that is out there. But it makes it tough to stay a big fan between some of the ill fated story lines, bad ideas and the guys who have enormous physical talent, but just haven't quite figured out how to perform in the ring and keep a crowd entertained for more than 10 minutes. I watched Barry Windham and Ric Flair wrestle for 60 and 90 minutes, and Sting and Flair wrestle long match after long match during their feud and was entertained throughout each match. Guys just knew how to tell a story in the ring and they didn't always have to do the high flying, high impact moves that you see today. I just hope that the up and coming young talent talks to the veterans and watches old footage to see what it is all about to entertain the fans. With the Great American Bash coming up, I just wanted to ask you what your favorite Bash moment is? Though I have many, mine would have to be when Sting wrestled Flair in a Lumber Jack match for the title and Sting won by rolling Flair up in a small package for the 3 count. If I remember correctly, you commentated that match. I might be a little biased with that pick, since Sting has been my favorite character since watching him tag team with Rick Steiner or Eddie Gilbert in the UWF days. I had read in an interview that the Rock gave after he stopped wrestling and the question was asked who the Rock wished he could have wrestled but never got to, and the Rock answered, Sting. If ever there was a dream match for me, it would have to be Sting vs. The Rock, two energetic and charismatic guys who knew how to entertain a crowd. Well, I apologize for have taken up so much room in your comment section. I just started remembering all of my memories from years ago and it kept flowing onto the page. Thank you for choosing the career path that you did and making so many wonderful memories just by the way you call a match. Good luck with the restaurant, and one day I will have to go to Oklahoma and try out your menu. I read briefly in one of your blogs that you had a talk with Bret Hart. How is the Hitman doing these days? I saw him many years ago when he was still wrestling with Jim Neidhart go up against the Rogeau Brothers at an event in Springfield, Missouri. Bret was definately one of the best the business has ever seen. Take Care. Joshua
Hey JR, big fan of your work, and of the legends roundtable shows on WWE 24/7! Any fond memories of my home city, Toronto?
I was browsing the web and came accross a pic a very ricent picture of Umaga holding another promotions tag belt, just wondering why this was and why hasnt he dropped the wwe title he now holds, I think there would be hell to pay if the boss seen it, ive included the link to this picture...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:UMAGA2.jpg
Dear JR, Congratulations on the opening of your new restaurant. If i ever go to Oklahoma i will definitely go there. I know you get thousands of comments daily so i will make this short. Not sure if you will know the answer to this but thought i would give it a shot. I was given the email address of the "supposed" shawn michaels by some other fans. I've actually sent a few emails to the address and have gotten a few responses. Do you have any idea if SHawn even has an email address or would answer fans like this?? Thanks, Lisa
Hello J.R. Just wanted to pass along a quick hello, and to let you know how much I enjoyed your restaurant on Saturday. My friend Bailey and I made the trip up from Denton to Norman on Saturday afternoon. We love a good road trip and BBQ so it was not a hard decision to make. Let me say that the atmosphere of it is AWESOME. The pictures and memorablia on the walls are incredible and staff are super friendly and very courteous. We grabbed a table and ordered some sweet tea, which was outstanding by the way, and looked over the menu. I ordered a "Bad to the Bone" brisket sandwich and a rib on the side. Bailey had a #1 contender combo with sliced brisket and rib on the side. We also had some queso. JR I was blown away by how good the food was. I have had some great BBQ here is Texas and also in Memphis on Beale St. Your's was hands down the tastiest and most tender I have had. If quality of food and staff is any indication then your restaurant career should go very well indeed. Bailey and I plan on making a trip at least once a month to your place. I encourage all your readers who are in the area or within driving range to make the trip as they will not be disappointed. I do have a question for you.... I have read rumors that Mr. Kennedy has began a friendship with Stone Cold. I know this is a rumor and I don't believe much of what is said on the web. I was just wondering if this was true. I hope so as I am a huge fan of Stone Cold and MR.Kennedy has the potential to be a huge star. If he can stay healthy and positive along with his natural ability and mic skills then I think he can go far. Just curious. Awesome job with the "Q" none the less. Keep up the great work Neal from Denton, TX
I caught Nancy Grace Weekend Saturday night/Sunday morning, depending on which timezone you are in, and it was discussing the Benoit case. The panel of guest includes Carlos or Charles Ashenoff, better known in pro wrestling as Konnan, Chris Jericho, and Marc Mero. It was interesting television, but the new twist is Benoit's physician, Phil Astin, was also the physician of the late Michael Durham, better known as Johnny Grunge, of the tagteam Public Enemy. His partner Ted Petty, or Rocco Rock to fans, also died young. I love the photos of the restaurant, and if I'm ever going to be in your area, I will be sure to make a visit. Needless to say, Nancy Grace took a pretty harsh stand, but that's been consistent with Nancy Grace, who seems to use the guilty until proven innocent justice method favored by countries like China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran, to name a few. Speaking of the Oklahoma Sooners football team, it must be very difficult that the Sooners must forfeit all wins from the 2005 season. Rhett Bomar and J.D. Quinn, not to mention the Norman car dealership have to live with the guilt of their actions. http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2007/07/12/ap3906074.html
Do you think that J.J. Dillon will ever be in the WWE Hall of Fame? If so why or why not?
Do you think that J.J. Dillon will ever be in the WWE Hall of Frame? If so why or why not?
Hey J.R. I loved the restaurant pictures. It looked like people were having lots of fun, except for that guy in all the pictures who kept going up to tables and bothering people! Seriously it's awesome to see the place finally become reality. Brad
I have a comment more than a question, Mr. Ross. I wanted to say that I had the privilege of attending the Hall Of Fame WLW show in Waterloo, IA this past Friday the 13th. "Dr. Death" Steve Williams gave us the honor of "lacing up" with a couple of youngsters in the ring, and made himself available to everyone at the show for autographs and pictures. He was a kind and friendly man, and the fans in Iowa just love him. If you don't mind, sir, please tell Dr. Death the next time you have a chance that the fans in Iowa loved the show and that I think he is an incredible gentleman. Thank you.
JR, Didn't Booker T start using the title King after he won the King of The Ring Tournament a few years back? Here is match for you. Triple H has been on ads saying that he is the King of Kings. King Booker vs. Triple H for the title of King. This could be a good feud and in my opinion these two have had too few matches together. When is Triple H coming back? Why haven't we seen Vince McMahon since he revealed that he is indeed alive? Is it because the character is supposedly "dead"? Vince proved that he wasn't dead the last time WWE was in Corpus Christi so I would like to see that storyline continued. As the name suggests I am a Texas A&M fan and I feel that the Oklahoma Sooners were not punished enough for their actions. If their basketball team hadn't been in trouble recently then you might could argue that this was an isolated situation. Slap on the wrist for a murder charge makes no sense to me. We will be tough this year or we will spend the offseason shopping for a new coach. The 77-0 loss to OU still makes people around here mad and we haven't forgotten who was coaching that team. I hope to see next fall when OU is scheduled to play A&M again. I look forward to hearing you Monday night calling the matches.
Congratulations on the opening of your restaurant and continued success. I got quite hungry while looking over your online menu. Unfortunately, I won't be making it to Norman (or anywhere in Oklahoma) anytime soon. My last trip through there was in the summer of 1997 while on business. We love good Bar-B-Q in Pennsylvania, so if you ever open a restaurant in south-central PA, I'll be first in line and a regular customer. Best Wishes!
jr we loved the food and the service! we will be back and we will spread the word to our freinds and famly. one question. does the wwe have any hard feelings about the power going out during the last raw broadcast from the ford center? we have been driving to the events in dallas, but would much rather see the show back in okc.
Do you think Henry and Phineas Godwin will ever return to the WWE or perhaps even be inducted in the Hall of Fame and get their own DVD? Those boys were my favorite tagteam ever.
Good Ole Jr: Well sir it is an honor and a privelage to finally to see your website..Most would say, where in the heck have you been living , under a rock? No, sir I really didnt know about it, till recently when I heard about your website from a good friend of mine whom I am honor to call a friend... Harley Race...Whom needs know introduction..
