"Let's get to your feedback you Bar-B-Q lovin'
Knuckleheads."
Chris- I agree that Goldberg and Hogan returning to the WWE would be most interesting and most likely stimulate ratings but it “ain’t going to happen”. It takes two to tango and they aren’t dancing these days. Not that there is any thing wrong with that.
Jim- I ate at Abdullah’s House of Ribs and Chinese Food many years ago and enjoyed it a great deal. But there is only one J.R.’s…...
JBates- The Austin DVD will be out in February of 2008, as I understand it. The Condemned DVD will be out in September.
Jake- Jonathan Coachman is the “acting” General Manager I am told. Yes, I agree that Cena vs. Kennedy has a significant upside but to say it might be the next Rock vs. Austin is a tall order to fill.
Wesley- I have never been to St. Cloud, Minnesota no matter what the cops may be saying up there. Adrian Peterson will help the Vikes this year IF he gets into camp on time. AD is a stallion who has a great future a head of him if he learns to run lower and avoid the contact that he seems to relish. That’s Coach Barry Switzer’s assessment as well and not merely my pigskin ramblings. In the name of former fullback Bill Brown’s flat top haircut, let it be done.
Glen- Who is the most likely to wrestle again in the WWE, Austin, Rock, or Hogan? Officially I do not know, however, my educated guess would be Hogan.
Will- Best Memphis Bar-B-Q? I really like the Cozy Corner, which was introduced to me by the King. Not Elvis, but Jerry, The King.
Ricardo- Yes, John Cena is a legit good guy. But he will still get booed most likely the next time you see him on TV.
Ty- I don’t know what the physical location of the proposed WWE Hall of Fame might be, but near their HQ in Stamford, CT wouldn’t surprise me. It won’t be in Norman, dang it.
Steven L- I don’t hate the idea of the wrestling divas being on Raw and the Cruiserweights being on Smackdown, but I ain’t calling the plays.
Stu- We slow smoke our brisket for hours, 8-10 hours, over low heat using hickory wood and that makes our sliced brisket and chopped brisket so good you can’t sit still and eat it. I mean it Stu.
Kyle- HHH is slated to return in August perhaps even at SummerSlam, which would be great. He is missed on Raw.
Anthony- I appreciate your comment regarding the hatchet job the Daily News did on yours truly. It P.O.ed me a thimble full but I didn’t get the limbertail. I have had worse things happen to me in my illustrious career and some of that media stuff just goes with the territory. Hopefully, the next time you decide to gut and quarter me on your site you will remember my misfortune and take pity on this aging Okie. Seriously, keep having fun…..that’s what we are supposed to be about in this whacky business.
Chris- Will we ship our products including Jerky and caps, etc to Ohio? Oh, hell yeah! My thanks to your family for eating with us all the way from Ohio.
Tony- “Inserts,” pre-recorded comments made by a wrestler while said wrestler was on their way to the ring, used to be a staple in the 80s. I am not sure why it isn’t used with any regularity any longer. Sometimes the business goes to great lengths to re-invent the wheel, so to speak, which makes little sense to me.
No-Yes- I will absolutely watch Randy Savage on the Surreal Life. Mrs. J.R. loves that show and I have also enjoyed it on occasion as well. It’s the proverbial car crash one can’t take their eyes off.
Richard- My thoughts on cruiserweights in the WWE? They are underutilized. Case closed.
Ministry Hunter- I have tried to erase the 1996 J.R. rants from my memory and have no idea of what you speak regarding a Dr. Death and J.R. hostile takeover of the announce desk around 1999. Did that really happen? I thought all along it was just a poorly designed dream or the residual affects of one too many nickle beer nights at Northeastern State University back in the early 70s.
Brad- I am pleased that your grilled chicken brushed with J.R.’s Bar-B-Q Sauce was a hit down there in Starkville. It also works well on burgers, pork chops, grilled salmon, and steak. I once met many of the Miss. State football assistant coaches here in Norman one spring and had a few cold beverages with them. I have great respect for Sylvester Croom, for the record.
Travis- My thoughts on the Great Khali? He is an attraction, a head turner, and is very tall.
Chad- I am told the next WWE date in OKC’s Ford Center will be in June 2008. No dates in my home market the entire year of 2007. Bummer.
Jordan- Sorry I left out Wisconsin when talking about the Big 10, but I have not done my official college football blogs as of yet. Stay tuned my football friend. I do hear that Camp Randall Stadium is a helluva place to be on a football Saturday, nonetheless. Now, lighten up, Francis.
Ryan- You or someone else will have to be more specific about yours truly leaving the announce table per your comment. I honestly don’t recall leaving my position, but I have blurted out a few bad words unfortunately, in the heat of battle.
Chuck T.- Doak Walker was a great, college football, star running back for SMU in Dallas in the early 50’s. He was a teammate of Fritz Von Erich who was known as offensive lineman Jack Adkisson in those days.
Lydia-Mae- As many viable improvements as can be made in the wrestling biz, I honestly feel our presidential candidates have many more important issues affecting many more citizens than debating pro wrestling. Let’s leave that to the real experts like Glen Beck and Nancy Grace…good night friend.
Ian- If the Michael Vick debacle is true then Vick proves beyond a shadow of a doubt he is one dumb, formerly really rich human being. Athletes in every walk of sport and entertainment do some of the dumbest damned things these days that one can imagine, including in the wrestling business. Immaturity and the age of entitlement has not done these big money ball players any favors. Perhaps they won’t realize what they have until they lose it. I hope it is not true but the news media is now hammering the NFL which gives others a rest at least for the time being.
Trent- I don’t think being in Hog Pen matches will get Henry Godwin to the WWE Hall of Fame, but that’s just my opinion. I have a photo of me after doing an interview in hog manure following a HHH vs. Godwin match at a PPV many years ago, and I was wearing overalls. It was really a lot of fun having hog manure thrown on me too Trent. You should try it with your pals.
Blue- My late father was indeed J.D. Ross and he was Adair County Highway Department foreman for many years until his retirement. Dad died at only 64 and I think about him every day. He instilled many things in me including character, honesty and keeping my commitments. He was also the man who got me hooked on John Wayne movies. For the record, I am not an Oklahoma State “hater” whatsoever. I really don’t “hate” any team but rather would say I am simply a fan of the Oklahoma Sooners which is one of the reasons we moved to Norman a few years ago. We still own a farm in north Adair County, but I don’t get down there much.
Dan W.- Thoughts on rookie Dan Rodman? Big, athletic, impressive body but very green. Not ready for prime time….yet.
The T’Cha- I don’t know if King is a Justin Timberlake fan but I know that Justin is a King fan, growing up in Memphis, where Jerry is the ruler.
Josh- I have to be honest with you Josh, we aren’t likely to have any tofu ribs in J.R.’s for you vegans. We do have big arse salads, green beans, cole slaw, Bar-B-Q beans, mac and cheese, fried okra, fried pickles, and jalapeno corn bread for starters. Will any of that work?
Robert- I am very familiar with Clinton, Oklahoma high school football. The Red Tornados are one of the state’s most respected programs. I even remember former Clinton players, the Bell brothers. Come see us in Norman for the “Q”.
Terry- How difficult was it being in charge of the WWE talent roster? If one was part marriage counselor, Psychologist, financial advisor, dean of boys, travel agent, contract negotiator, paymaster, baby sitter, recruiter, coach, mentor and father confessor it is a breeze. Seriously, that particular job is perhaps the most thankless job in the business. It was 24/7 seven days a week. Just ask the Mrs.
Jamie- The next time you are in our place and I am there, please ask your server to have me come by your table. I try to make it by all the tables, but when we get really busy it often times gets challenging to make it by and see everyone without interrupting their meal. I love visiting with our fans, so at worst just come up to me and introduce yourself. I only bite our food, not our guests. Thanks for the business and for stopping by.
Adam- I don’t know what the exact answer is for giving the wrestlers an “off season” but I agree that designated time off would be a good thing. I have some ideas on this matter and I think that there may be more than one right way to initiate a plan to give the wrestlers a break in their road schedule. Ric Flair has been off of TV due to having ear surgery and should be back soon.
Thank you for visiting our site, be sure to visit our store and check out the new merchandise, keep sending in your feedback, and drop by and enjoy some DE-LICIOUS "Q" at J.R.'s!
