J.R.'s Family Bar-B-Q

Random Thoughts (from ouinsider.com)

Posted in:
Random thoughts from under the 200X black, Resistol hat while counting down the days until Sooner Football practice starts from a BBQ lovin’, Sooner fanatic who is extremely optimistic about the 2007 college football season. This is not a “Sooner quarterback” column. So if that is your obsession, sorry to disappoint. I have not had to adjust any medication worrying about who will be the OU starting QB this season, but I do think the picture will clear up by August 15. That’s two weeks after fall practice starts and two weeks prior to hosting North Texas. For some, it is three weeks prior to “The U” coming to town. Not that I’m keeping tabs of such data. did jeff hardy leave monday night raw again? ---i hope he didn't
With WWE releasing the Wrestlemania box set along side with a Royal Rumble boxset do you see WWE releasing any WCW Pay Per View box sets in the future?
Hey J.R. Can there be a big Stevie Richards push for gold anytime soon? Ever? He definetly deserves it.
hey jr, recently i heard jeff hardy was sent home last night at raw and that his program with umaga is droped. can you shead any light on this rumor if you would be so kind
J.R. Do you feel about about mixing up Jillian Hall and Beth Phoenix everytime they were in the ring this Monday?
Greetings JR- Hope you and the Mrs. are doing well! Just wanted to wish you well and say that you are the greatest thing since sliced bread and cheerios when it comes to calling the action each and every Monday night. I don't know what I will do with myself when the time comes that I will no longer be able to listen to the melodic tones that are JR's voice, whether it be be from Mr. McMahon relieving you from your duties (again) or you pursuing greener pastures. Please JR.. never leave us, nor forsake us!!
Hey JR, heard that jeff hardy is up to his old tricks again, is he finished with the wwe? DAMN!
JR, There's rumors going around that Jeff Hardy will be off TV for a couple weeks and will miss Summerslam. Is any of this true?
Any chance that WWE and TNA could simply be nice to one another? Personally, I think things would have been a lot more fun for the fans had WCW and the WWF gotten along a bit more. I kinda wish Bischoff had let DX into the arena and perhaps had the nWo greet them. Who knows? Maybe a WWE VS TNA joint PPV is just what the doctor ordered to boost ratings for both promotions. Would WWE or TNA turn down an increase in ratings? Really? A grudge match between Bautista and AJ Styles? I'd buy a PPV for that! A run in featuring Ariel knocking big Dave over the head with a chair? Bonus. I'd pay twice to see that. Samoa Joe VS Umaga? Other than the fact that they're both Samoan... I never saw the point. But it's been talked about so much that now I kinda want to see it. Abyss VS Kane? Come on! Who doesn't wanna see Abyss get Choke Slammed, or Kane catch a Blackhole Slam? Seriously! Chistian VS Edge? That would have all kinds of new meaning. Champ VS Champ! VKM and VMK face off backstage? Dustin VS Cody? Sting VS The Undertaker! Robert Roode locks up with Mr. Kennedy? Rey Mysterio VS Shark Boy - loser unmasks! Double J catches a Pedigree? And then a GTS? WWE and TNA would be raking it in, I think. Tell me that imagining the PPV commercial announce those matches doesn't make you grin... just a little?
dear jr. i am writting to ask how shawn michaels is. and when he will be coming back. i do not hear him mentioned on raw much or how he is. i miss shawn and raw is dull without him. thank you. kathleen madonia
Hi JR! Are you coming to South Africa when the WWE tour here in September? If you are coming maybe I can show you a rugby game and you can learn what the phrase “Nou die Blou!” means!
I hate to ask this but during the Divas match you called Jillian as being Beth. I haven't seen them in person but on TV they look different. Do they look identical in person or something?
I've got a couple of critiques, JR, sorry but I feel it needs to be said. First, the RKO kick to the head has to stop. It really looks stupid. You and Lawler are doing your best to call it, Orton is trying his best to sell it, but it looks incredibly cheesy. It looks like he's just pushing a guy's head with his foot. Personally, I think it's bad enough that you're promoting the storyline with Orton vs. wrestlers who have past their prime by 20 years. But that's WWE storytelling. Make him the "Legend Killer" just try to do it in an interesting way. I had a whole thing on Kennedy, but I'll leave it at this. Wrestling is in DESPERATE need of guys that perform in the ring: guys like Benoit, Jericho, Eddie, Bret Hart, Pillman, and Dynamite. So please work on that: instead of selling a cheesy kick.
Hey JR, I have a question. How come some of the superstars wipe their feet before they step between the ropes? I first noticed Cody Rhodes do it, now I seem to see more and more superstars doing it.
J.R. I was excited to see my hometown team of Notre Dame is dropping MI. and picking up your Sooners for 2 years. We're pretty excited about that and the news today of getting Crist for QB. Hope you have a good week and my family and I will be watching tonight as always! Aaron DeWinter
Hey JR, I've been reading your weekly writeups for years now, and have always wandered what a "200X" Resitol hat actually was. Is the 200 a threadcount level, or perhaps size (ha, ha not to say you have a big head or anything). Thanks ~Ron in DC
Hi JR, Just wanted to take the time out to thank you for signing a BBQ sauce bottle for one of my co-workers this past weekend. He told me he was heading up to OK and I told him if he was going to be up that way he should stop by your restaurant and try out the food and let me know how it was. I also asked him if he could pick up some sauce for me because I love the Q and wanted to try it out! He didn't get a chance to eat there I guess he didn't want to wait so maybe next time he'll get the chance. I have one problem though JR now I have a bottle of your original sauce but I can't use it, I can't bring myself to open the bottle since you signed it, instead it will put on display! Again I wanted to thank you for doing that for him and indirectly me, I've been a fan for over 20 years and try not to miss a RAW broadcast. I am also a faithful follower of your blogs keep up the great work. I do have one question being a huge Hulk Hogan fan do you see him coming back in the near future for maybe a short time for a few matches? Best of luck in all your future endeavors and thanks for the support you give the troops we all appreciate it very much!
Hey JR, thanks for answering my questions last time, I'm so excited The Undertaker can join us even sooner than we expected!OK, now to 2 little questions: 1_Hornswoggle as the Cruiserweight Champion. DAMN! I mean, the guy's disrespecting all the former Champions of the title. Could this open the doors for a new championship replacing the Cruiserweight's? 2_Think Orton has chances on grabbing the WWE Championship at Summerslam? I have to give Cena credit, he has survived that Fatal Four Way at Backlash, Khali, Khali&Umaga, and now even Lashley! I think it's time for us to have a new Champ.
JR, i went ot your restaurant and it had the best food ever! I drove all the way up from Dallas then ate and drove back....But it was well worth the drive. I was wondering if you are planning to open up any more in the country, and if so, I think Dallas should be your first opening!
hey JR, Even i have been wondering the same thing as some others of your loyal readers. What happens now to Mr. Mcmahon??? I have been a fan of his ever since i remember. But how is he possibly going to reappear on wwe tv?? i mean he died in the storylines and all and that got screwed by the benoit tragedy. I would love to see mr. mcmahon on television again. So whats the scoop??
Hi JR, I was watching WrestleMania VIII for the "1000th" time yesterday, and I think the eight edition of the showcase of immortals is one of the most underrated PPV' s of all times, nobody talks about this event like about WM III or VI, just to name a few. I mean, The Savage/ Flair match was an emotional highlight, the Hart/Piper bout a classic, even the Hogan/Sid main event was something special. To top it all, Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan provided on of the most funny commentating I' ve ever heard, I had to laugh so many times........ My question now, what does good old JR think about WM VIII? Greets from Switzerland
So everybody knows that Wrestlemania 24 is going to be in Orlando next year, but I heard rumors of perhaps Wrestlemania 25 coming back to Houston. Is this true or is this merely a rumor? Also, what would be your one dream match to commentate, whether the wrestlers involved are living or have moved on to greener pastures? Personally, I would love to see a return match between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels, perhaps with them both retiring after said match.
Hi J.R. do you see Mark Henry getting a World Title shot any time soon? It probably wouldn't work at the moment as Khali is champ but then again it would be two colossal men stepping up against each other, i feel that Mark definately deserves a shot at the gold rather then squashing smaller guys every week.
JR, can you tell me, to the best of your knowledge, what these former WWE wrestlers are up to these days? Essa Rios, Godfather, D-Lo Brown, Jerry's kid Brian Christopher? Thanks in advance, have a great call on RAW
jr do miss wcw at all?
I was just wondering here in Illinois if Vince McMahon has the grapefruits to show up on WWE programming again. Its one thing to squash a storyline but to disappear altogether from the small screen has to be looked by some as cowardice. Has anyone in the company presented that possibility to him?
hey jr why did the bigshow stop?and do you think kurt angle would ever come back to the wwe again?
I was sorry to hear about the passing of Karl Gotch. Back in the early 70's he would appear on WWWF television and would amaze me with all his moves and counter moves. The announcer called him the "Man of a Thousand Moves". He was a Man's Man that did not need a goofy gimmick to sell himself. Did you ever see Karl Gotch in action? and how do you think he stacks against some of the great technicians in wrestling history?
JR, Are we ever going to see X-Pac,Pac, 6_Pac Sean Waltman in a WWE ring again. People like me who follow the business know that there are liablities that come with him but the same comes with Scott Hall who is rumored to be on a legends contract and preparing to come back to the ring one day. Also, TNA is looking like they are going to attempt to go head to head with WWE, it seems like they see the recent tragedies as as opportunity to pounce on the wounded WWE. Do you ever see a TNA-WWE invasion, it really doesn't matter which company is the aggressor it would bring out some current dream matches of mine like AJ Styles VS. Gregory Helms.
Hi JR I was wondering if there was any possibility of the 4 Horsemen reforming?I know Ric Flair is out but if he came back.
mr. ross, are you aware of any "banned moves" in WWE? also, i hate wrestling rumor sites but i have seen one involving vince mcmhaon being stressed out. is he okay?
Hey JR. Whats the best way to cook a beef brisket?
JR i saw the Punjabi celebration this past week on Smackdown. It was entertaining. I am also from Punjab and I wanted to make one thing clear. The entrance music that Great Khali comes to ring in is not a Punjabi music. Punjabi music is 100 times better. As a matter of fact you should look into Bhangra music. As that is Punjabi music. It has dhol. It would be nice to see Great Khali come out with Dhol Players and to bhangra music. Google jazzy b. And listen to his music.
