Well, this is your sleep-deprived, overworked Webmaster with a website update. As you can see, I have done absolutely nothing, in fact, I have taken stuff away. No, this is not some sick joke, just more delays in a never ending battle with our online shopping cart. We are trying to make your time at J.R.'s a pleasant and enjoyable experience, and on your way out, we hope that you will purchase some of our fine merchandise (the holidays will be here before you know it). Anyway, you didn't come to this site for my endless babble. I am pretty sure this is J.R.'s website, so I will stop typing and get back to work. To get you through the day, I thought you might like some feedback from your favorite Wrestling and Bar-B-Q Aficionado...
Good Bye Moolah.. Football Talk.. Headbangers.. Missing Cruiserweights..
Thanks for stopping by and checking out our site. Exciting things are going on here and many major changes are underway. I hope you will take a moment to browse in our store (as soon as my webmaster has it finished) as we have some awesome new things for you to check out.
I was truly saddened to hear of The Fabulous Moolah’s passing last week. The first woman to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame was one of a kind and survived in a male dominated world where many men generally thought a woman’s place was being pregnant and bare footed. Moolah had a tremendous influence in the world of women’s wrestling serving as a trainer, mentor, manager, tour organizer, and had a 28-year run as the Women’s World Champion. Moolah’s legacy will be forever remembered as the most powerful woman in the business and she has left us to meet her Maker and will no doubt charm Him with Lil’s Southern Belle warmth. Do you think Moolah will call the Good Lord Darlin’?
Let’s get to a few of your comments:
Chris- I missed the Ghost Hunter episode on Sci Fi with Elijah Burke, but I have no idea what in the hell WCE is.
WCW fan- Buy WCW if you can, but you will still have talent depth issues no matter who’s “jersey” they are wearing.
Ron- The Sooners will roll this Saturday against an outmanned Baylor team that is seemingly close to saying “enough is enough” for this football season. The Sooners simply need to take care of their business and WIN. All the other BCS stuff will work out as it will. I hope OU runs the table and faces Kansas in San Antonio for the Big 12 Title, which gives both KU and OU the best chance of making it to the BCS Title game on Monday, February 7 in New Orleans.
Kory- Adrian Peterson is a stallion to the 9th degree, without question. The Vikings have a player with which they can build their franchise around for the next decade. Let’s just hope AD can avoid any serious injuries and any of the other distractions that some NFL players fall victim to. I can say this… the more carries AD gets, the stronger he runs. It will be interesting to see how those purple Vikings #28 jerseys continue to sell. We will have an AD signed Vikings’ helmet in our 2nd Bar-B-Q Restaurant.
BA33- I know there have been “Warrior imposters” over time, but there is only one “Ultimate Warrior” of which I am aware. I would suggest the mold was broken with the creation of the “Ultimate Warrior.”
Ed- I have no idea if the WWE Cruiserweight Title will ever be brought back. I enjoy cruiserweight matches, but that’s just me. The cruiserweight division never seemed to be taken too seriously in the past.
John- Nice job adding the J.R.’s Chipotle Ketchup® in your tomato soup! And yes, politics have existed in wrestling long before the day I walked thru the door in 1974, and that particular matter isn’t apt to change unless the human element can be factored out, which isn’t too likely.
Jeremy- I think the ship has sailed, regarding a return of the Headbangers to the WWE.
Charlie- We have always gotten a fair amount of orders here on our site from our Canadian friends. We need more of them though, I can assure you, and we do ship worldwide these days. Come on fans in Canada… give our store a visit… and thanks!!
Dan- HBK is still one of the top five in-ring talents in the world today. Shawn has the experience from wrestling in the territory system, the passion of being a life long fan, and the athletic ability that only God can gift one. HBK’s in ring skills are amazing considering he missed almost 4 years of in-ring activity with a bad back and is presently wrestling on knees that have seen their better days. HBK’s upcoming DVD should be a huge hit. I can’t wait to see it myself.
Oliver- In my eyes there is nothing “transitional” about Randy Orton’s WWE Title reign. Orton’s best days are ahead of him and he could well end up one of the WWE’s all time biggest stars before all is said and done. Time will tell.
Trojanfan MIke- I don’t think USC will lose another game this regular season and may not lose their bowl game either. An OU-USC Fiesta Bowl is a distinct possibility. Tully Blanchard was a truly talented athlete who was a good college QB at West Texas State back in the day and a helluva technical wrestler during his prime. “Underrated” is certainly a viable term to describe Tully, who with Arn Anderson was one of the best tag teams I ever saw.
Mike- I think the WWE would be well served to have a Canadian developmental system in place some time in the near future. Canada has produced some great wrestling stars and those stars have influenced many young men and women who want to follow in their role model’s foot steps.
Adrian- No, none of the McMahon’s have dined with us in Norman as of yet, but perhaps they will some day. I won’t hold my breath, as Mr. McMahon doesn’t like to eat food without the use of a knife and fork, which isn’t exactly the recommended way to eat J.R.’s Hall of Fame Ribs.
ChrisUGA- Good luck on obtaining the Wrestlemania 24 tickets in Orlando. Tickets are still available, but one has to assume not for long. The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is also something you will want to check out. I assume you are a Larry Munson fan if you are a Georgia
Bulldog supporter.
Thorsten- I am a big fan of “See No Evil” and definately feel it has legs for a sequel. Writer Dan Madigan did a great job on the story and is ready to write more horror oriented material. Kane did a helluva job too in the film in his role of Jacob Goodnight. I suggest that all fans check it out on DVD.
Matthew- I am not counting the Redskins out of the NFL playoffs yet, but their division is awfully tough. They do need to get on a roll.
Don- J.R.’s Cookbook is a great tool for anyone, especially men, who want to learn to grill and to Bar-B-Q better. Our recipes are simple and easy to execute. I assure you that you will enjoy it, plus we ship them free in the continental USA and autograph them too!
T-Money- The Calzaghe vs. Kessler fight Saturday is definately on my agenda.
Junior- There is no logical reason why DH Smith should not become a big time star in the WWE over time. Smith seemingly is bred to be a wrestler, without question. The 22 year old will have to make better decisions going forward and I feel very confident that he will. DH is a good kid from what I have seen of him. Everyone can make mistakes, but repeating history isn’t wise.
Lee- A J.R.’s BBQ in London has been discussed… casually, but discussed. WE ship all our sauces, Jerky, Gift Buckets, merchandise, etc. to the UK, so I hope you give our products a try. They make super holiday gift ideas.
Tyler- The Alabama football program is a proud tradition that Nick Saban will do well with in future seasons. I was pulling for Bama against LSU, for my Sooners’ sake. Recruiting is the key for the future for the Crimson Tide and with Tommy Tuberville being rumored for the Texas A&M job, perhaps Saban and crew can clean up on the in state high school football stars. Alabama is noticeably better than they were last season as it feels like the spirit is back on the field and in the stands. The Bear must be smiling.
Bob- Wrestlers violating policies is not a good thing, but wrestlers who violate the same policy more than once is downright stupid.
Thomas- I have said many times that wrestling fans have not seen the last of Ric Flair. Until “Naitch” tells me he is done, I still see Ric in the ring and still holding his own. Personally, it would be a shame for Ric to not be a part of Wrestlemania 24, but that’s just one man’s opinion.
Bill- The OKC ownership of the NBA Seattle Sonics had it in their minds all along to move the team to Oklahoma City, in my opinion. The Sonics, or whatever their new name might be, will draw well in OKC and I look for them to push for a new facility as well, even though the Ford Center is virtually brand new.
BigWWE Fan- Would I list the greatest WWE Champions in order? No. I don’t do that…
Kris- If I stated that Jeff Hardy is older than his brother Matt, then I made a mistake. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Now go buy some Bar-B-Q Sauce!
Don- There is no New England Clam Chowder recipes in J.R.’s Cookbook. Sorry, but that would not be a specialty of yours truly. Try a Google search or check out the Food Network’s website and I would be you will find what you are looking for.
Chance-Thanks for making the 90-minute drive from Duncan, Oklahoma to eat at “J.R.’s”. We are having a great time with our place and take great pride in our food and our service. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Sooners rolled over the Aggies, but OU still has many miles to travel before they sleep.
Thanks for checking out all the great things going on our site and for your feedback. We will have more blogs this week….guaranteed.
BOOMER SOONER!
J.R.
