J.R's BBQ Sooner Pigskin Report (from OUInsider.com)

According to everyone I have been in contact with this week, the Oklahoma Sooners have had an exceptional week of practice in preparation for Saturday’s Big 12 Championship Showdown against the #1 ranked team in the nation, the Missouri Tigers. The Sooners has been focused and intense in their practices, and to a man are looking forward to flying to San Antonio Friday afternoon for a return match with the explosive Tigers, who OU defeated on October 13. Seven days after beating Texas, by the way, 41-31, in Norman. Read the rest of the story at OUInsider.com » Webmaster

J.R. I have been watching wrestling for 25 years now, and have seen all stars come and go. At some point or another, in most every wrestlers carreer, comes a point where they dare to call themselves "The Greatsest". Now putting marketing, sales and popularity aside for a minute(yes this is still about wrestling, not BBQ sauce). Has anyone ever kept track of wins and losses? Who has the most wins? best streak? This seems very unlikely to me, but I thought I would come to the most knowledgable source. I think it would be fun to know who is truely the best ever, statistically speaking. And I am also wondering if Trevor Murdock the son of Dick Murdock?
Hey Jim, first and foremost I will say more the most part I still enjoy hearing your southern twang and I find you entertaining, despite the fact that you get the "Whisper in the Wind" confused with the "Twist of Fate" more often than not. Haha. But anyway, I was just curious if you had seen any of Ring of Honor's product? Yes, I'm aware it's much different than what you guys in the WWE do, but I just find the atheleticism and overall ability of these guys unmatches, though I'm sure you'd disagree. Anyway, I was just curious if you had saw them and or had an opinion on them, thanks for reading the question and hopefully answering it. Keep up the good work.
Congratulations to the Sooners and on that note, with the insaneness of college football this season, do you think they need to incorporate a playoff system? I've never seen a year of college football like this one and I think this year makes the option for a playoff system open up a lot more.
In your opinion, would Ric Flair be more popular if he was now peaking in the WWE 2008. This as opposed to his legendary past as being an international champion but missing out on perhaps Rock/Austin payday. On the same token your opinion would he even be maineventer now with the character of mr gq? thanks
Stick it to em, Sooners, shake it up.
There will be many folks in the state of Illinois pulling for your Sooners, including myself. A Mizzou loss may propel OSU to the National Title game, and my Illini into the Rose Bowl. Hopefully, that will happen. The Boys in Orange & Blue haven't smelled the roses since '84.
I have read what those brain dead 'tards have said about you. I have been alive for 25 years and in that 25 years I have never seen anyone as passionate caring and giving to the professional wrestling business as you are my friend. You are simply the best play by play of all time. Dont you pay those folks no never mind! You just keep right on doing what you are doing! This new generation is more cynical and reckless than ever before but in order to put these young punks in their place, we have to shine our light so that it burns brighter than anything else. So you keep shining, J.R., 'cause your REAL fans love you, we respect you, and God bless you!
JR, Buckeye fans from around Ohio and other parts of the country are cheering "Boomer Sooner" this weekend. Good luck against a truly talented and capable Missouri team this weekend. Go Bucks!
I thought you might like this post from a Sooner living in MO: Congratulations to everyone associated with the Missouri Tigers football program. Never during the seven years since my family moved to Missouri from God's Country (a.k.a., Oklahoma) has my fanhood faced as many challenges as it has this year. When I say "fanhood," I'm referring to my staunch loyalty to the team I've followed since birth -- The Oklahoma Sooners. When I say "challenges," I'm referring to the lighthearted "trash" talk aimed in my direction by friends who are fans of the upstart Missouri Tigers football program. With the now-top ranked Tigers facing my Sooners in the Big 12 Championship tomorrow night, I feel obliged to share an observation about football hysteria Mizzou style; hence, I write this post. When your team makes it to the top of the BCS rankings (or the equivalent) only twice a century, you need to take full advantage of the opportunity. Case in point: The Missouri Tigers 2007 Season to Remember Commemorative Football with Acrylic Display Case Several times this week, a representative of St. Louis-based Nikco Sports has appeared as a guest on local radio programs to promote the above-mentioned commemorative football. During each appearance, he was careful to describe all of the things that make the ball special and to mention that only 5,000 of the $99 limited-edition footballs would be sold. He also mentioned that the ball would include the results of Saturday night's game in San Antonio and of any bowl game in which the Tigers might be invited to play during the postseason. Finally, he mentioned that proceeds from sales of the footballs would benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Did you notice a problem? Probably not, since you're not accustomed to life under the microscope of big-time college football success. Let me explain. In Oklahoma, commemorative balls are sold all the time, since our team regularly finishes among the top of Division One. But never -- and I mean never -- does a run of 5,000 commemorative balls last a full week, especially when sales of the ball benefit a worthwhile charity like the Make-A-Wish Foundation. If a ball like the one being touted by the Nikco Sports went on sale in Oklahoma, I guarantee it would have sold out the day its availability was announced. And that's the point, Mizzou fans: If you want to play the part of fans supporting a big-time college football program, you gotta buy balls like the ones being offered by Nikco Sports. Good luck!
Hey Good Ol' J.R., I now know you are aware that I'm a huge Ultimate Warrior fan. I own a copy & watched the Ultimate Warrior Self Destruction DVD, Then The Ultimate Warrior 2005 Interview Shoot Video & I really think those comments by Ric Flair, Bobby Heenan & the others who talked crap about Warrior really are wrong & need to keep there imature comments to there-selves. Warrior was cheated when he found out Vince & others or whomever was involved trying to steal Warrior's ideas, merchandise, slogans & more when Warrior showed up at one of his supposed to be ALWAYS BELIEVE event & was told not to show up, quoted by Warrior on the 2005 Interview Shoot Video. Check it out when you get a chance, unless you already did. "The horses mouth himself, has the answers." I believe Warrior & always will believe in him. I think if WWE has permission or rights, That they should make a new Warrior DVD 3 Disk set with Lots of great moments, matches, interviews, appearances, Warrior University, Warrior World, With Bonus Material, Etc. Not like the Self Destruction DVD set. I bet you, There would be top sales for a Warrior DVD like that. Can you please request from them/whomever it may concern to do so? Also: Please keep us up to date of any Warrior info more often, like when you make the top catagory links. You Rule! Good Ol' J.R. 4-Ever WWE, J.R. & Warrior fan, Danny
