J.R.'s Superstar of the Week - Ric Flair (from WWE.com)

Posted in:
Greetings from under the 200X, black Resistol hat from a barbecue-loving, Oklahoma Sooner football fan who is sweating out the upcoming showdown for the Big 12 Title this Saturday in San Antonio and counting down the days until the three-hour, 15th Anniversary broadcast of Monday Night Raw. Even a village idiot could ascertain who this week’s Raw Superstar of the Week is going to be … and that would be the incomparable “Nature Boy” Ric Flair, who helped provide one of the most memorable moments on Monday Night Raw in a good while with his “must win or lose his career” match against WWE Champion Randy Orton in the heart of “Flair Country,” Charlotte, N.C. HI JR, I just wanted to comment on Ric Flair's promo he did on Raw Monday night. I have followed his career since in 1980's. I know he is about to retire in the near future. I would like to see him bring the Four Horseman back for one last time because when he retires they should retire the Four Horseman name also you know like retiring a jersey number. One last thing I think his final match should be against STING. You know his contact is up in the hair right know with TNA. That would be as you would say it "A Slabber Nocker Of A Match. I hope you get a chance to respond to this I would like to know your comments. Thanks, Jim
JR, I would like to know if you are capable of calling a fair match. When Ric Flair used the low blow on Randy Orton in Ft Lauderdale, not a critical word came out of your mouth. In fact, your tone and delivery praised him for winning the match this way. However, when Randy Orton used the low blow on Shawn Michaels at the recent PPV, you did nothing but run him down for it. Another example of your unfair announcing was when Shawn Michaels used a low blow on Chris Master to attempt to get out of the MasterLock during a challenge last year. Not a critical word about Michaels from you. With all the talk about your announcing capabilities lately, this seems like a good time to question your fairness. There's really little argument to be had - when someone uses a low blow, it's either good, or bad. And you should call all of them the same. The person who recently called you a "company stooge" may be on the right track, as it appears you tailor your comments to who is being pushed by the company as the "face" rather than make your own decisions (as you imply in several posts I read here).
Hey J.R. I think you are one of the best. Your passion for wrestling is at the top.keep up the good work. and think you for a great time had by my wife and I. It was great to finaly meet you.your Bar-B-Q is the best. Thank You and GOD BLESS charles
I loved the match between Flair and Orton. Orton has shown not only in this match but others as well that he has learned a lot from associating with Flair. Even though Orton's character on TV may have hated losing to Flair, you know the real man, Randy Orton, didn't mind at all taking a loss to perhaps one of the very best wrestlers to ever lace up a pair of boots. I so can't wait for WrestleMania week to get here. I'm going to be there. I grew up watching Flair so this is going to be so surreal in seeing someone I've watched my whole life end his fabulous in ring career. I will be one thrilled fan to see Ric Flair be inducted into the Hall of Fame. I will be thrilled also to see his very last match occur on the biggest stage of them all.
Dear J.R. I have been a fan and follower of your career since your WCW days. I enjoy your obvious love for the business. Keep up the good work!!! The reason I am writing actually has very little to do with pro wrestling, but rather amateur wrestling! I was watching an interview with Randy "the Natural" Couture, and he mentioned being a Sooner, and being part of a top notch wrestling team. I was wondering if you know Randy. If so have you ever tried to get him to consider giving pro wrestling a shot!!!
Ric Flair wrestler of the week? Of course he was going to win that match, wrestling is becoming far too predictable anymore. Why not try shocking the fans a few more times like you used to?(of course, I mean the business, not JR). Who didn't see jericho coming to Flair's aid on RAW? Also, how much longer until Jericho and Flair are going to drop status again to midcarders? It's only a matter of time, the WWE just makes toys out of wrestlers like them and even Carlito, who does put on 100% and deserves a push, and just gets sick of them and just throws them in as bait for "better" wrestlers who are just more glorified like Cena or HHH who realy aren't that much better.
Just wanted to comment on JR being too old for color commentating. That is dead wrong. JR is the best in the business. He is the Yoda of commentators. He gives life to all the matches he colors. JR is also human, and we all make mistakes. When you do what JR does for many years, of course there are going to be little flaws. But that does not take away what he brings each and every time he does color. If I had to describe JR in one word it would be greatness. (And I am not sucking up to you JR..really) I am being very honest. Every time I see Mike Tenay or that other guy do color I laugh and say "these guys suck." There is a standard in wrestling color commentating, and his name is good'ol JR (Jim Ross). And that’s all I got to say about that.
