J.R.'s Family Bar-B-Q

J.R.’s Random Ramblings.. ”Big Nuts”.. On Air Fumble.. Tom Brady.. Julio Jones.. Great One Email.. HDTV.. Politics = Fertilizer!

Thanks for checking in with us and I hope all are well during these frigid days for many here in the States. Unless one is in South Florida or Hawaii it seems to be colder than hell in most places, which includes Oklahoma, where it was 20 degrees when I stepped off the plane Tuesday morning after taking a 5 a.m. (central time) flight from Norfolk to DFW to OKC.

Business is still doing nicely in our online store and I hope you will check out our Valentine’s Day Special which is a super value. Plus, you’ve got to order one of the “Big Nuts” T-shirts as they are becoming one of our hotter items and are great conversation pieces. We also have some really good prices on a couple of flavors of our Beef Jerky for all you Jerky lovers out there.

Random and largely non important thoughts.

Charlie Haas was on my flight Tuesday morning, but he wasn’t wearing his mask which might have posed some problems with the TSA folks at the Norfolk Airport.

Van Halen is in OKC Tuesday night and the Mrs. is going with friends, but I am “tagging out.” How could I pick attending a Van Halen concert over watching the ECW TV show live?! There could be a “CATFIGHT!!” or a “YAMBAG” mention.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I made a mistake in commentary on RAW Monday night when I mentioned that it was Hogan and HHH who were the only two men who had held the WWE and IC Titles at the same time. Of course I meant to say it was the Ultimate Warrior who defeated Hogan for the WWE Title at WM6 in the Skydome in Toronto and for the record the Hulkster did kick out at 3 1/2, by golly, if you are keeping up with such info at home. Several wrestling websites had my misspeaking as a headline of sorts on Tuesday morning. My bad…no excuses…but it won’t be the last time I fumble. For all of you that have done live TV and have experienced many different sounds in one’s headsets I am sure you know what I mean. Someone even nicely said I was “entitled” to make a mistake and all this time I thought that every human was “entitled” to make the occasional mistake. Shows what I know. The next thing that some Einstein will write is that “J.R. is undoubtedly slipping” or that “J.R. must have gone to happy hour before RAW celebrating his new contract.”

Busy week for yours truly as last Wednesday the Mrs. and I attended the OU Women’s Hoops game against visiting Nebraska….Friday, I went to the OU-UTC wrestling dual….and Saturday afternoon I sat behind Coach Bobby Knight when his Texas Tech Red Raiders lost to the Sooner men in Norman. Being within earshot of the legendary basketball coach during a game is a unique experience.

Nice seeing Dr. Death Steve Williams and his son Wyndham in Norman last weekend as they enjoyed J.R.’s Family Bar-B-Q a couple of times while Doc was honored at the OU Wrestling Dual Friday night. Doc has been cancer free for over 3 years now and has to go back to the MD Anderson Clinic in Houston once a year for a checkup. I would guess that Steve is about 280 pounds and he is still doing some wrestling, which I find amazing, and is working as a personal trainer with Bally’s Fitness in Lakewood, Colorado. For those cynics who think that miracles don ‘t happen, think again the next time that you see that Dr. Death still above ground.

This week it’s another Women’s Basketball game on Wednesday night as the nationally ranked OU ladies host Texas Tech. We have purchased season tickets and we sit on the front row court side right across from the visitors bench. Then, I am doing some radio broadcasting Friday night when Iowa State visits OU in a Big 12 wrestling dual showdown. The radio broadcast can be heard on TakedownRadio.com. I leave Saturday for NYC to prepare for the Royal Rumble on Sunday. After the Rumble, the King and I are driving down to Philly Sunday night to broadcast RAW’s second HDTV program on Monday from the City of Brotherly Love.

From what I can tell, it seems like many of you like the HDTV version of RAW. I don’t have the USA Network as a part of my digital package with Cox Cable out of OKC, but I may upgrade my DirecTV package which I am told includes the USA network in HD. The King and I actually were provided some “face time” which hopefully didn’t scare any one too badly out there in “TV Land,” as Ernie Ladd used to say. I may be asked to hold one of those cardboard cutouts in front of my face much like Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon, two of my favorites, occasionally use on ESPN’s PTI.

What is up with the media fascination of the proverbial “trainwrecks” Britney Spears and Amy Winehouse, who allegedly is a wrestling fan, or so I have read? Winehouse is reportedly headed to rehab while some brain surgeon speculated that Britney needed mental health care. NO….that couldn’t be true! Brit acts very normal especially since it was discovered that she “books” the paparazzi to follow her every move which is right after she lost custody of her two, small sons. I predict someday that someone will “discover” a “chemical imbalance” in Ms. Spears and she just might even have a foray with religion before her ridiculous and amazing journey comes to an abrupt, but hopefully a non tragic end. Britney’s support group is seemingly non-existant and apparently her parents aren’t much help. That’s damn sad right there friends and neighbors.

Why would NE Pats QB Tom Brady travel from Boston to the Big Apple, home of the NY Giants, wearing a walking cast/boot when he could have stayed sequestered in New England and had his supermodel, lady friend Gisele Bundchen simply come visit him? Didn’t “Touchdown Tommy” know he would be busted by the media? However, I will agree with one thing Brady said, this time of the year no one is 100% healthy on an NFL team. Brady has had a magical year and has ascended into Joe Montana-land which is rarefied air to say the least. How good must Brady’s life be? Good looking, rich, star QB, babymama is a supermodel (be leery of the unprotected sex Tom), his current girl friend is a supermodel and Brady has an opportunity at the Super Bowl to immortalize himself by leading his team to a 19-0 record. Just like Larry David might say “Pretty, pretty, pretty good.” Bottom line is that Brady will be ready to rock come the Super Bowl, but I don’t look for the G-Men to lay down for anybody because they will lose their smile, so to speak, come February 3 without fail.

Speaking of great football players, Foley, Alabama high school wide receiver, Julio Jones, would look awesome in an Oklahoma uniform this fall. Julio is arguably the best player at any position in American and has OU on his short list of schools he is considering attending this fall. I have seen tape of this young man and he is spectacular to say the very least and would look great catching passes from returning Sooner QB Sam Bradford.

I made the mistake Monday night after RAW back at the hotel of watching a repeat of the Democratic Debate from South Carolina, which I soon regretted. However, it was like rubber necking at the site of a car accident as I stayed tuned hoping someone would say something on which I could hang my black hat. I should have simply watched Weather on the 8’s and the dramatic Jim Cantore or something comparable as Clinton, Obama, and Edwards kept trying to get over and none seemed to succeed.

Not to sound anti Democrat but I experienced largely the same thing recently listening to the Republicans. I will say that the Presidential race seems to be wide open and I keep waiting for some one to step up from either side.

Perhaps two of my favorite political commentators Keith Olbermann and Bill Maher can help me unscramble this load of fertilizer.

Do wrestling conventions featuring legends actually make the promoter’s any money? Just curious. Many of these promoters have to become adult, babysitters (is that an oxymoron?) to the fragile egos of some of the legends that are booked. I am all for these events being successful promotions and for the veterans making money, but it seems more often than not that occasionally the wrong people are booked, like those that really aren’t and most likely never have been fan friendly.

Paul London has a foot injury that will see him back in action in a matter of only a few weeks for you Kendrick/London fans out there. I am a big fan of this combo.

Jeff Hardy reminds me of only a few wrestlers who simply got white hot in a matter of weeks and is seemingly only a few steps away from establishing residency in the Promised Land. The question always is for any athlete is that once one gets there, how long can one stay on hallowed ground? For the naysayers who are adamant that Hardy will not win Sunday at MSG, I simply say stay tuned as we are in unpredictable waters and Jeff Hardy winning the WWE Title in Madison Square Garden would be one of those lasting “moments” that would live for years. Hardy may be the underdog Sunday, but so were the NY Giants last Sunday in Green Bay. Just throwing it out there.

I got an email recently from Dwayne Johnson, who I still refer to as “The Great One”, and the movie star is doing great and is his usual, positive self. Over the years I have received dozens of emails from “The Rock” and I can never remember a single one that did not make me feel better after reading it.

New Michigan football coach Rich Rodriquez may be a helluva coach, but his business communications skills leave a fair amount to be desired. It is a sad state of affairs when Rodriquez, a native of a state where he helped rebuild the beloved football program, has been disowned. Litigation apparently is pending over Rodriquez’ $4M buyout from his West Virginia University contract of which he feels he now doesn’t owe.

Many of the RAW fans I spoke with after RAW were disappointed that Ric Flair wasn’t on the show but “Naitch” will be a part of Friday Night Smackdown this week, as I understand it. Its hard to fathom that Ric’s next loss will be his last. The reality of the matter is that the legend cannot go on forever and that Flair is bound to lose at some point with the immediate question being will it be this Sunday in MSG?

Watching everyone scramble around backstage to cosmetically prepare for the first HDTV RAW broadcast was comical at times.

There was a small group of RAW fans who were hanging out in the hotel lobby Tuesday morning at 3:30 a.m. (Central Time) looking for photo ops and autographs. My eyes had to look like two pee holes in the snow and I hope those photographic nightmares never make the ‘net. They couldn’t have been HD friendly.

We will be back in a few days with another blog and more Q&As as well. Please keep your succinct and somewhat sane COMMENTS coming. Our store is open for business and, as always, “baby needs new shoes.”

BOOMER SOONER!

Hey JR, I was watching the Royal Rumble the other day, and I can't stop laughing at the face you made when Santino said you "erected a momument in your trousers". Keep making the WWE great! We Oklahoman's like hearing you commentate.

p.s...glad to see you've signed a new contract as well..congrats

hey j.r....long time fan and first time emailer...i hope you'll do all of us wrestling fans a huge favor this sunday night at the royal rumble and acknowledge the 15th year anniversary of andre the giant's death (he died on 1-27-93)...after all andre was indeed the king of the battle royal/royal rumble match having won more than any wrestler ever...andre was and always be my all time favorite and there is'nt a wrestler today who could hold his jock strap...thanks for the shout out j.r. and RIP Andre...Gone but never forgotten!

JR, Having purchased the bulk of the "Collection" Dvd's over the last 4 years, I have some suggestions and complaints to offer. 1. Who picks some of these matches? Why are some matches excluded? If you left me alone in the WWE video vault for a week, I could produce superior results and offer better and more historical matches/interviews. It seems to me that these collections are put together by people who are not life long fans of pro wrestling. They are enjoyable to watch. But invariably, I am left wanting or wondering why something obvious to me is left off. 2. There is usually one or two matches on these Dvd's that have no commentary on them. On the Bret Hart Dvd, there is a match with Ted DiBiase with no announcers. There is also a match with Bam Bam Bigelow that has spanish commentary. On the 4 Horsemen Dvd, there is a War Games match with no announcers. These are just off the top of my head, but just seems like sloppy producing. Why not have you, or throw a bone to Bob Caudel or Tony Schiavone, over dub with some commetary to add historical perspective. Why are the Road Warriors feuding the Horsemen? 3. The most obvious complaint is, more Flair. Having read his book, I have some knowledge of his life and times, but many casual fans do not. You need a life and times Dvd, similar to the excellent Shawn Michaels one. 4. If a single wrestler warrants a 3 Dvd collection, why would a whole organization warrant only 2 Dvd's? I loved the AWA collection, but would it have hurt to add an extra Dvd with another 12 matches on it? Likewise for the World Class collection. Speaking of which, the World Class Dvd was really outstanding. "Playboy" Gary Hart and Scandar Akbar should have more of a venue to tell these stories. I would love to see the stuff they did, that didn't end up in the Dvd and ended up on the cutting room floor. 5. Future Dvd's I would like to see. Something on the Mid-Atlantic/Crockett promotions. Randy Savage, Ricky Steamboat, the Funk Family, Bobby Heenan, Greatest Tag teams, more Flair, WWWF-WWF-WWE's Japanese affiliations, Bob Backlund, more Foley,Jerry Lawler/Memphis promotions and of course, the definitive collection of Outback Jack vinettes. Just one fans views. Keep up the excellent work you do here and on Monday nights with the King. Thanks Bill

Why can't any commentator go out on a limb and pick a dark horse and be some what legit. Everyone picked a top teir superstar. Why couldn't pick for example Tommy Dreamer or Kane. Oh maybe (god forbid) Khali or Big Daddy V. Or how about Cody Rhodes or maybe totally on a limb and pick good ol' Horny. What I am saying is why does everyone in the WWE automaticly pick top tier wrestlers when their is many more dark horses in the match. If I remember correctly, the only dark horse to ever win the royal rumber was good old Hacksaw. Why couldn't he be given the go a head to compete since he was the first ever winner of the royal rumble. Point to the matter is when will the WWE give the ball to a bottem tier wrestler and push him hard like WCW did with Goldberg back in the day.

Hey JR. Huge fan, I've grown up hearing your voice on raw and I'm glad to know your gonna be there for awhile. I was just wondering if there is a reason you guys barely come to Vancouver, Canada. I remember how successful Rock Bottom was, and the raw where Kid Rock performed. But in the last few years you guys only do house shows here, and they happen maybe once a year. Also, what is your take on the terrible TNA Shark Boy gimmick? Him ripping off Austin is not funny, and it's like the tna writers are trying to hard to compete with WWE, and diss you guys when they should be concentrating on making their brand better as a whole. Thanks, Mike

Atta boy, on the new contract. You make all of us "old" Mid-South fans keep watching. There are two people in wrestling that keep me glued: Ric Flair and Jim Ross. When you two are gone, that's it for this Okie. Here's to the next two years, cheers.

To: Marcus from Austria "The New and Improved DX" DVD has a lot of RAW matches with the commercial breaks left in. Maybe that's the one you're thinking of. Hope this helps, Jeremy

Hey JR, I have a question that Jerichoholics around the world are wondering.Do you think that it will be a long time before Chris Jericho finally wins the WWE/World Heavyweight title? Especially since Vince called his undisputed title reign "The biggest flop as WWE Champion ever." I mean the last major title he held was the intercontinental championship and that was back in 2004. Or do you think that the "Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla" will be sporting gold soon? thanks, Chris

Hey JR, Just a couple of quick questions... What's your appraisal of CM Punk? Do you see him as a viable future main-event star? I always thought of him as a new-era HBK in many ways. I was just wondering if there's any truth to the rumblings I've been hearing over Big Show re-signing with the WWE...and even if they aren't, have you had any contact with him? I've heard a great deal about him dropping some of his excess poundage and that the difference is startling. Anyway, thanks for your time. Keep up the great work! -Lamar

JR, There is no need for many of the sites to place your slight mistake as a headline. I can't say it isn't going to go on a dirtsheet or a rumour mill etc, because you know it will. But what I can say is that it is live television and when it's LIVE, people make mistakes. Hell wrestlers do it all the time. Randy Orton (when GM for a night) messed up by calling the World Tag Team Titles the World Heavyweight Title. I can understand why people would take a dig because you are JR and are one of the best (if not THE best). They want gossip and no doubt this will lead to some hilarious stories (JR gets hammered before RAW etc). You're the greatest JR, who cares if you slip up, the main thing is you give RAW a voice which CANNOT be surpassed.

Hey there. I Live in Virginia and have Comcast cable. I loved seeing RAW and ECW in HD this week and plan on watching Smackdown Friday. I have been trying to find out if I will be able to get the Rumble in HD this weekend and it seems that the answer everyone here is getting is that the WWE has not provided them with any information regarding this option. You guys hyped this well. I am shocked that I will have to settle for the standard PPV when I can see everything else in HD. Any news on your end? Jeff

Hi JR. I have been a wrestling fan for 23 of my 26 years. So by now I have a pretty good idea what is going to happen before it does. The rare times that i am unsure of the outcomes of major matches generates real emotion and interest from me. I'm not asking for major surprises or anything like that. I just don't want to be 100% sure the outcome of the match before I watch. That's all. I just want some creative booking that doesn't give the finishes away in the RAW before the PPV. My question is this: why, why, why does WWE insist upon keeping up with the formula that the guy who is not winning the match/ title at the PPV that sunday beats on his opponent on the Raw prior to the PPV??? This happens EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! I now know that Jeff Hardy isn't winning the title this sunday from Randy Orton, because he laid him out at the end of Raw. This really takes the fun out of watching for my friends and I. I just don't understand how the writers or whoever think this is effective. I'm a 'smart' fan, a very 'smart' fan at that, and I am just begging for a storyline where I don't know what is going to happen in advance. Don't get me wrong, I didn't think the company would put the belt on Jeff Hardy anyway, but at least I wouldn't have been 100% sure of this while watching. (Yes, this is done every single time. Here are some examples: Hogan pinned Rock before WM18, Austin pounded on Jericho before No Way Out 02, Michaels superkicked Cena at the end of the Raw before WrestleMania this year, and Jericho got the edge on Orton before their recent PPV title match. Trust me, i could go on and on here. I just dont get it!!) Thanks from an extremely frustrated fan who is getting the fun and excitement taken away from him because of this nonsense. -Joe Mastronardo

JR, I'm a big fan, but I hated to read this: "Perhaps two of my favorite political commentators Keith Olbermann and Bill Maher can help me unscramble this load of fertilizer." Those two clowns are the biggest source of fertilizer on television. They are incapable of equal time. Olbermann is a left-leaning hack who is primarily responsible for MSNBC becoming as bad as Fox News (on the opposite end of the spectrum, of course) with regards to political bias. And the way that Maher and his "panel" treated Tony Snow recently on his show was borderline criminal. I'm no fan of Fox News either, or the current administration, and like you, I'm looking for someone on either side that I can hang my Resistol on. But I won't let a biased, venom-spewing commentator like the ones you mentioned, or someone like O'Reilly, help me clear the muddy waters. Sorry to delve into politics here, but I felt the need to air that. Now, back to wrestling and BBQ.

Hey JR, congrats on the new contract, RAW wouldn't be the same without you! i just wanted to ask how you feel about Playboy covergirls getting pushes around Wrestlemania-for example, I think it was ridiculous last year that Ashley, who has no talent (other than getting naked)and can't wrestle after 2 years under contract was given a Womens Championship Match while women like Mickie James & Victoria were stuck on the outside as Lumberjills!! I realise the WWE wants to promote the magazine and the diva(s) involved but to have someone as useless as Ashley even on the card is ridiculous, the same goes for the previous 'Playboy Pillow Fights' and 'Evening Gown Matches' at Wrestlemania-its funny how none of the divas who've actually got talent and can wrestle never agree to do it, thats because they don't need to pose nude in a magazine to be noticed! Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Candice Michelle & Torrie Wilson, Candice has improved greatly and Torrie is now a mainstay on WWE, but i see no need why the cover girls get such prime spots on TV & PPV's. Look at Mondays episode, sure we had a decent Womens Match but why no Melina, no Jillian? Two talented girls, not even involved in a backstage segment, but who was? you guessed it, Maria & Ashley-the upcoming Playboy cover girl and last years cover girl. I understand the girls have to have sex appeal and beauty but when that is a substitute for talent there really is a problem Much Love, Kayleigh

Hey JR!! Greetings from PRW! I have a great idea for a match at either WM24 or WM25. Have a battle royal with a competitor from each Wrestlemania with the prize being monetary or a return contract. Also have someone make their WM debut in this contest. Just an idea. Thanks for reading. Love the website. PRW

Hey JR, Do you think wrestling will ever go back to what it use to be? I use to love watching wrestling, but know its more like watching a soup opera. I remember when promos were only like 2 minutes long and were cut in the back and didn't last long then the wrestling matches. When did this change happen anyways? Even in the Attitude era the promos were longer but there was still a lot of wrestling. I dunno maybe I'm just expecting to much, thinking I would be able to watching wrestling on a wrestling show....I dunno know hopefully things will change. Sorry for the sort rant, Derek

Hey JR, A little bit ago I mentioned I had certain issues about the current ECW but that I'd save that rant for another day, I had a different rant that day. Well, another day is here, and while I'm sure this particular rant has been voiced by many others I still want to get my two cents in. So here we go... No, I am not a fan at all of the WWE's ECW. Why? Because this IS NOT ECW. ECW was Paul Heymans puppy. It was a group of young wrestlers giving their best and putting their bodies and their health on the line for the fans. It was under Heymans command that Extreme meant something. Under McMahon Extreme is just a tag word. This is the very same thing you guys (the WWE) did when you brought in New Diesel and New Razor Ramon (I'm sure you remember that little embarrassment), you tried slapping on established, respected names to lesser, watered down talent and hoped the fans were just too stupid to notice the difference. Well, cuz', what can I say? We ain't that dim. Now don't get me wrong here, I was not especially fond of the original ECW, I liked the wrestling but not the extreme violence. And I have no problem at all with WWE doing a third brand, if you got the talent and the TV time then you can have all the brands you want. But just because you have the rights to a name doesn't necessarily mean you can use it. Call it whatever you want, but if it ain't what ECW was then don't call it ECW. Another issue I have is that so far, and it's been over a year since you started the third brand now, your ECW has been treated more as an afterthought. You only have about a score of wrestlers... excuse me, "superstars" in the brand and only half of those being seriously used and only one singles title. It's so talent-starved they have to work with Smackdown just to make up the difference. If you're not going to commit some full attention to the show then why bother having it? Okay, rant's over, one thing before I go. I heard Big Show is coming back. Great news, especially if he's lost the weight I heard he did. I hope I get to see him against Khali. No, it won't be a technical or aerial masterpiece by any means, but you guys'll have to build a special ring just to hold the two.

Hey, there seem to be alot of rumors going around about Bobby Lashley. Would you happend to know anything?

Hey JR, it's great to have the skittle ad, very entertaining I must say, back this time in HD...always brings a smile and a giggle or two

Did Bobby Lashely really get released?

Hey JR. I read your blogs frequently and I always enjoy them. Just wondering what your thoughts are on Kofi Kingston. We've only seen him in one match, but he looks to be very impressive. He has a unique fighting stance.

Will they ever quite writing scripts for wrestlers. No offense but to call most wrestlers a "B" or even "C" actor would be an over statement. Santino Marella is at the Top of my list for "entertainment' potential. I like a bit of ab-libbin'. THis written line crap just plain STINKS. Maybe if Tom Hanks and Brad Pitt were in WWE it would work but till then give the "boys" an inch of creativity in verbal delivery.

Is it true that Bobby Lashley is going to leave WWE? If so, can you fill me in on why?

Hey J.R., Love the Blog and especially your beef Jerkey I picked up at Mania last year. My question for you are what are you thoughts on Kendrik and London, not getting more of a push on the RAW brand? They went for a long time on Smackdown as the tag team champions and even went through 2 Wrestlemania's (22, 23) Without being on the card. They are 2 of the best pure athletes on the WWE Roster, but as soon as they jumped ship to RAW they havent gotten much exposure. In fact they got bried by getting pedigreed by HHH. Please dont waste these amazing talents!!! A modern Day bill and Ted!

JR, With the past success of the old-school ECW DVD's, as well as the DVD's about the AWA and WCCW, do you know if there is any chance of a DVD release about WCW? I was a fan of WCW, as well as WWE, and would pay cash money to see WCW DVD's, since Time Warner doesn't offer WWE 24/7 yet. Thanks! Bob

Hey JR, I like seeing giants in the ring. Now that its been almost two years, how do you think The Great Khali has come along in ring work. Also how does he compare to others such as Giant Gonzalez, Big Show, Kurrgan and of course, Andre The Giant. Look forward to your knowledgable response, JR. All the best from the UK.

I just wanted to comment on the wrestling websites. 1. I'm not a fan of them. I used to read them alot, but I realized how much fun spoilers take out of it. Afterall, who wants to watch the Superbowl if you know who wins? 2. I don't understand why WWE, or whomever inside the company leaks the information, simply doesn't release false information and false spoilers on a constant basis to discredit the websites and eventually eliminate the readership they have?

JR, I have three questions, all of which are championship title related: 1. When do you think the WWE will bring back the Cruiserweight Title? Or, do you think it will be replaced by another championship? 2. I think the fans really get behind the Beat the Clock challenge matches. Does this mean that time limits might find their way back into professional wrestling? Is a new title (or a revived European Championship) defended under a time limit a viable replacement for the Cruiserweight Title? Personally, I would love to see a championship where every title match was like a Beat the Clock match. 3. I read somewhere the the United States title is not part of the WWE's Triple Crown. Is this true? Thanks, Kyle

Hi J.R, There are alot of well respected wrestlers who have often critisized Triple H for using hill pull in the locker room due to the fact his married to Stephanie. Alot of people believe he's great but is just not as talented as a Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Undetaker, etc. I know you aren't going to comment on this too much so you wan't get into high waters, but what is your opinion on these many wrestlers accusations?

Hey JR long time fan of you and your blog! It was awesome seeing you get inducted into the Hall of Fame this past year, as I was lucky enough to attend that event. Anyways I was wondering what has happened to the Cruserweight Championship? I have'nt seen it in months! Does it even exist anymore? Thank you For your time I really appreciate it!

People are to hard on the WWE product. As a fan, you J.R., and every other on air WWE television personality entertain me. Why else would I watch your product? I'm looking forward to the Royal Rumble. Good luck, and the Beef Jerky taste fantastic. Best Wishes, Ryan

Hey JR... You have any idea if WWE are going anywhere with Mickie James crying backstage last Monday night? She is by far the best female worker in the company, and is performing far better than the current champion, so is her defeat last Monday night the start of the road to a WrestleMania title victory, or are WWE planning on going elsewhere, maybe with Ashley or Candice Michelle?

Just curious....I'm a London/Kendrick fan too...but I was really impressed with Kendrick solo on 1/21. He was the total package, his backstage promo was great, and the match (even though he lost) was fantastic. Do you think he's got a future as a singles wrestler?

Hey J.R. I just wanted to get your thoughts on Kofi Kingston.I saw him on ECW Tuesday, & a match from DSW. He is already my favorite dude on the entire WWE roster.Do you think he'll be holding any gold anytime soon? I've never seen a rookie as good as him he could be the new Rock I think. Best debut in WWE history in my opinion.I hope the powers that be don't drop the ball with him. P.S. You're probably the best anouncer of all time i can't imagine watching WWE without you calling the action. If a smackdown match closes 'Mania this year, it wont be as good if you're not calling the action. Thanks for Readin' Julian

Hello again, JR!! First off, like the new set for the HD telecasts for Raw & ECW. Probably will be the same for Smackdown. It looks very familiar to the ones used for Saturday Night's Main Event. Also, congrats to you on your new 2-year deal. Man, you could be commentating into the next decade. Look forward to the Rumble this Sunday. Enjoyed all the little facts & figures about the Rumble last night on ECW. By the way, my bet's on Kennedy to win, since he lost his money in the bank. Hey, what do you think about out junior OSU Buckeyes returning for the senior season including Laurinitis? If we can get through USC & going to Illinois & Wisconsin, we might be in the title hunt again. So, here's today big rumor question. I read today that Bobby Lashley has been released by the WWE. I kept on thinking he'd show up at the Royal Rumble. Do you have any questions as to why he left? Just wondering. I keep hearing too that maybe The Big Show is planning on returning soon, and maybe Ron "The Truth" Killings, aka K-quik, might be too. Any response to those inquiries? Have a great time in MSG for the Rumble. I hope Flair doesn't lose, but if he does, what a great place to end your illustrious career. Take care, JR.

hey jim ross i just read online about lashley being released and i just am wondering if theres someone in wwe in control of talent who is sneakly getting paid by tna to send stars thier way? i wondered this cause theres been a lot of names fired/released by wwe and suddenly turn up in tna... dudleys angle booker T christian and so on..it seems a bit weird like someones doing some dodgey dealings backstage in wwe for these big names to keep going and turning up in tna now lashley being released just isnt right, this guy was a great future wwe star,he came so far in such little time,im deeply sad and disapointed in this,,it seems like vince needs to investigate this because all these big stars keep suddenly going and heading to tna and theres no new big stars coming in, i hate to say this cause im a big big wwe fan,but it looks like wwes future is screwed if something isnt done about this soon

Something id really like to do in my life, and plan on attmepting if i at somepoint get the extra money to do so, is to open my own wrestling promotion, i would like to start reading up on it now, so if the time comes, i will be ready. Problem is i can't find anything about it, is there any guides, literature, or websites you know of that may help me out?

Hey JR, been a big fan of yours since I started watching wrestling. I have a few questions for you. First of all, do you ever thing we'll see old school matches like "War Games," Scaffold matches, three tier cages; etc anymore? Some of those matches revolutionized wrestling in the 80s/90s. Also, with Black history month coming up, will WWE do anything on the contributions of African-Americans to the sport? There have been many great competitors that have come through like JYD, Bobo Brazil, Koko B. Ware, Rocky Johnson, Tony Atlas, on up to today like Ron Simmons, Butch Reed, Booker T, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin. It would be nice to see a DVD on Black history and wrestling. Thanks a lot.

Is there any update on the status of Bobby Lashley's injury? Will he be returning any time soon? Thanks for the info,by the way love the site.Keep up the good work as being the voice of RAW,looking forward to seeing and hearing you on RAW for the next 2 years and hopefully more to come.

Hey JR, Wanted to compliment you guys on a great go home show before the Rumble. The new set looks great! I'm not sure who's idea it was to tag Jeff Hardy as "Legend Thriller", but if it was you my hat's off. Very appropriate, and I hope it sticks. I'm a Hardy fan, but I don't think I'm alone when saying, I'm blown away by how much momentum Hardy has gained over the past couple weeks. I'm sure the plan was easy, and I'm by no means saying this is a for forgone conclusion, but Orton over Hardy at the Rumble. Then begin the road to Mania. As good as Orton is, Jeff Hardy HAS to have some people second guessing that. Personally, I think you could switch the title and go with the Legend Thriller in the main event and not lose your marquee match. Fact is if Hardy isn't in the mainevent, he'll most likely end up in Money in the bank (if the tradition continues) and steal the show there. I know you don't book this stuff, but put Hardy in the Mainevent with a ladder and someone else, and save the best for last. Glad to hear you've re-signed, and I hope us fans are lucky enough to have you sign a few more multi year deals. Cheers, Zu

Hey JR, Have you talked to Stone Cold lately, and if so, how has he been?

JR - congratulations on signing the new contract! I am looking forward to seeing you on RAW for the next couple of years (and hopefully beyond). Every once in a while, veterans (like Arn Anderson, Barry Windham, Ricky Steamboat, etc) can be seen in the background on RAW, SMACKDOWN, or ECW. Are these guys road agents? If so, what exactly does a road agent do? Are they involved at all in creative? Maybe utilized as 'coaches'? Do they act as 'policemen' for the wrestlers? All or none of the above? Thanks for any insight and 'FIGHT ON!!!'

J.R. Do you think that there is a possibility of WWE perhaps scheduling some summertime house shows and/or TV tapings outdoors. With the annual "Tribute to the Troops" and this year's WrestleMania being done outdoors, WWE television has demonstrated that such events are feasable. Previous events such as WrestleMania IX and the SummerSlam from Wembley Stadium have been successful. An intimate setting (such as a local high school football stadium) or some other place which is unique would be a perfect fit for a house show. Outdoor shows can be special to the fans, especially since they are very rare now. BTW congratulations on the contract extension.

Howdy JR, I was watching the latest episode of World Championship Wrestling on WWE 24/7 and it was the episode where Ric Flair debuted "the big gold belt". Flair was doing his thing, boasting about being the man and so on. It just struck me as funny that his name plate on the belt read "Rick Flair". I'm in my early 20's so maybe I'm wrong but I don't remember Flair 's name being spelled "Ric-k".

I was reading your menu on your website and I saw a food called hot link. I was curious, what is hot link? By the way, when I was looking at the menu I couldn't figure out what I would get since so many of the foods on your menu sound so good. Anyways, just wondering what hot link was and I'm looking forward to hear you call the Randy Orton-Jeff Hardy match at the Royal Rumble in what has become an awesome rivalry. Take care.

In The Hardcore Diaries Mick Foley states that he was a wrestler for 11 years before you started to recruit him. That made me wonder what you looked for in potential recruits when you were doing that type of work.

J.R., Which of the old territories do you think was best at preparing talent for the "big time"? To set a time period, how about the 80's, the "glory days." Also, can just one territory be remembered as "the best" or was it a performer's trip through a few or all of them that made them so good and prepared them to be a star? Thanks, Jeremy

J.R, I recently watched my copy of Over The Edge 1998 again and laughed as you and The King got into some good verbal jousts especially when you told him he needed couch time and your observation that Tennessee Lee was sweating like Jimmy Swaggart you guys are hysterical and I could watch that for days and still laugh just as hard as the first time I saw it. I'd love to see a J.R's Family BBQ near my hometown of Watkins Glen,NY someday as I've checked out your menu and it looks really good.
