J.R.'s Superstar of the Week - Triple H

Greetings from under the black, 200X Resistol hat from WWE’s resident Okie, who still gets just as excited about traveling East to New York City and Philadelphia, as was the case well over three decades ago, especially when the Royal Rumble awaits in Madison Square Garden on Sunday and with Monday Night Raw in an always rowdy Philly.

Last week was Raw’s maiden voyage in HDTV and from what I have read, fans enjoyed the WWE’s flagship broadcast in HD. Our local cable company, Cox Cable, doesn’t offer USA Network in HD on our digital system, but hopefully they will at some point in the near future. Nonetheless, the HD aspect of the programming will be crisper and the color will pop more, but an unsightly blemish could be a disaster for a Diva or a male Superstar who acts like a Diva.

Good day Mr. Ross! Quick question for you. I was a bit too young to have seen him in his prime, but I remember seeing/reading a lot about Stan "the Lariet" Hansen. I know he spent the last half or more of his career mostly in Japan but did see a match in WCW where he beat Lex Luger for the U.S. title, and a match against Big Van Vader which was one of the most intense and punishing brawls If ever seen. Overall , do you consider him one of the very greatest of all time and how would you rate him in comparison to todays stars? Who do you see out there that reminds you of him ? Do you have any memorable stories involving him? Thanks, Jeremy
Hi JR, I'm a 1st time visitor to your site. I'm from England by the way, anyway my question is what do you make of Bobby Lashley's comments about how he got squeezed out of the WWE?(I think it's clear there will be a releas announcement soon, his merchandise is on a clearance sale and his profile has gone and he's said he's leaving) Please don't split hairs on whether he is actually going or not, I'm just curious about what insiders think of his remarks, and what actually happened
JR- What's up with HBK? He has the goods, yet it seems like the WWE is not using him to his potential. It seems as if the WWE is using him to promote other wrestlers, with Randy Orton, Kennedy, John Cena... Is it just me, or is the WWE just "using" him until his contract expires, and then probably consider not re-signing him? Maybe he's going to retire?
Hey JR, i was wondering if u know Savio Vega's whereabouts? Thank you 4 your time , your the best!
JR, I have watched you for many years and have a question for you that's not regarding wrestling or BBQ. I just started my life with Bells Palsy less that 48 hours ago. What difficulties can I expect. I know you have had it. It has amazed me as to how fast this all happened.
hello JR..i switching channels on the tv and came across TNA WRESTLING..there was a wrestler i think they called him shark boy..he was trying to come off like stonecold steve austin.he did all his phrase's like stonecold did in the ring when he would talk..then to top it off he also did stonecolds finishing move..also his theme music was also the same as stonecold's.then he went on and did the beer bash at the end..Can they do that ? i thought there were copy writes from WWE and StoneCold..i just thought that was odd..he when will you open up a store in Arizona ? any time soon i hope..see you guys in Feburary in Arizona !!!
J.R., Hope all is good with you. Sorry, my comment is not about HHH. Like yourself, I have been a long time fan of Steve Austin. He is by far one of my all time favorites. Last night on TNA they have managed to copy his character, theme music and all. Keeping in mind its not an exact copy, but its close enough to be shady. The TNA writers made an attempt to reinvent a wrestler called Shark Boy. They made his entrance music similar to Stone Cold's, and had him make a speech trying to immitate how Steve would talk in his wrestling days. Also, when he wrestled, the lame excuse for a wrestler even copied Steve's wrestling moves. It was oh so convenient he also replicated the Stone Cold stunner. Their announce team almost called it that and then caught themselves just in time to call the move a stunner. After watching this I was appauled. I know you don't watch this show, but I would like to know how in the world can they get away with this? Also, can't they be sued for copying one of the WWE's ideas? On a final note, after Shark Boys speech, he decided to climb the turnbuckle and down clam juice like Stone Cold would normally down a few beers. Thanks for your time and thoughts. Brandon
J.R, please explain how the Pack could loose to a team like the Giants at home with so many opportunities given to them by the Giants??? I am still shocked!...I was already looking forward to Brady vs. Favre match-up, instead, we get Giants-Patriots. If the Pack would make it to Glendale, the ratings would go through the roof but this is not even going to be an entertaining game, I am not planning to watch a second of the game or its highlight...and not just because I bleed green and gold but because I won't care if either team wins, NFC is not represented by its best team anyways, so why would I care. Your thoughts...
What happened to superstar ink, that was a good column and they haven't had anything new since the New Year. WWE.com doesn't exactly answer emails. So, I was just wondering if you knew. Also, I was wondering if you thought if Mickie James is being railroaded. I like Mickie she is my favorite woman wrestler today. I think she has more skill in her pinky then alot of other "divas". Oh, but I didn't like her sobbing angle last monday over her loss. There is no crying in sports/entertainment.
Hey JR, Sorry my question has nothing to do with the King of Kings. Actually, what I was wondering is on wwe.com under inside wwe column. There is one for superstar ink it was updated every week like it says it is. Until, the new year it has featured Layla and my favorite woman wrestler today Mickie James, ever since. Do you know if wwe.com will continue to put articles out for that column. I would ask wwe.com but they don't ever respond to emails.
Grow up JR! You always have something to say to your critics. Why do you even take the time to acknoledge their existance is beyond me! They are talking about you. They are clinging to your every word. That's a good thing, no? So quit justifying your goof-ups with excuses and shooting back to 'teenage' headlines on the net. You should be above that. I grow irritated of your voice from time to time but you are the best, bar non. I think sometimes you over do it and you squeal, but you continue to rule the wrestling comentator world. Do you constantly need to read this to feed your own insecurities? Quit addressing nonsense and focus on what's really necesary... You are definately "entitled" to your opinion and this is YOUR column, but gosh, I just wish you'd grow up a little.
