Webmaster
TNA featured on WWE.com under “industry news”? WWE publicly acknowledging TNA? That almost looks like an olive branch. Or is my naivity showing? I may just be talking crazy here, but could the 2 biggest promotions in wrestling today actually *gasp* get along? Batista and AJ Styles notwithstanding, of course. Or is seeing Steve Austin AND Shark Boy “Stun” Vince or The Motor City Machine Guns VS Paul London and Brian Kendrick a bit too much to ask for? What’s next? Scott Hall at the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony? looking forward to loving some of that BBQ sauce on a slab of ribs! I wanted to get your thoughts on the new “industry news” section on WWE.com. I think it’s an interesting move and was wondering if you had any idea of what is behind their decision to make such an offering including TNA news and results. I personally think it’s a brilliant display of how secure WWE is with their position in sports entertainment. This tells me that even with WWE helping to publicize TNA news, we still won’t be seeing another Monday night war anytime too soon. happy that Raw is coming back to Oklahoma City but I dont see it on the WWE schedule and didnt know when tickets went on sale so I was wondering if you could tell Me? I went to My first Raw 2 years ago and had a blast besides the lights going out. How much will you be in the resturaunt when you come down. I hope to see you soon. Boomer Sooner Chris
Yes your naivety is showing as no olive branch is necessary because there is no "wrestling war". The WWE website is just trying to become more multi-faceted and provide info on the entire business. I look at it as an experiment and it may or may not last. I don’t know when the OKC tickets go on sale but it is usually 6 weeks or so prior to the event. Have you contacted the Ford Center?
Here in central Iowa I grew up watching Bob Geigal and Harley Race’s Central States Wrestling, I’ve read the wonderful compliments you’ve given to wrestlers I watched as child like Race, Ted Dibiase and Buck Robly. I was wondering if you ever crossed paths with some other heroes of my youth such as Bulldog Bob Brown, Rufus R. Jones, Pat O’Connor and Mike George, if so what are thoughts or memories of these men? I believe only George is still with us. Thank you for your time and keep up the great work on Monday Nights. Bill Norwalk, Iowa
My first match as a referee was Mike George vs. Treach Phillips, so yes I knew Mike way back in the day. O’Connor was a funny guy who inadvertently always got in one’s face while conversing and usually smelled of garlic. Pat was a helluva wrestler. Brown and Rufus were acquaintances but I did not know them well.
Hi JR, the Wahoo/Flair story with the Rental Car is priceless!!! A book by you/with others would be a great read with those “road stories”. When will Raw come back to the Twin Cities?
Check with the Target Center. I don’t have the long term calendars.
I’ve heard mixed reviews of the Jericho / Hardy match. Everyone agrees it was a solid match, but some seem to worry that when Hardy tries to go above and beyond, he gets a bit wild and dangerous. As to my personal opinion of the match, I feel Jericho’s rust still shows a little bit, and Hardy really helped him get that match up and over, if you get my meaning. Either way, it was a keeper.
Yeah, a keeper for sure. Too bad we won’t be seeing a rematch any time soon.
hi jr. i have a couple of suggestions and questions i know you said on a recent blog the wwe dvd folks read this from time to time , i have a couple of dvd ideas following on from the raw 15th anniversary dvd (which i have have not seen yet as we in ireland have to wait abit longer) it got me thinking about a similiar smackdown dvd set , i think smackdown is 10 years old next year (hint hint). do you know why the regular diva dvds were stopped. i dont think there are any due in 08. i know the diva dvds used to feature mostly the divas modelling and only a few matches but i would love to see a divas dvd full of matches and backstage moments. especially the whole trish/lita rivalry. i know trish brought out a dvd in 2003 but there was loads of stuff since then including her heel turn. would love to see lots of her matches and moments against lita , victoria and mickie james. i am not just talking about a trish dvd but including other divas as well including candice, melina, beth etc. kind of a history of the divas dvd. i read on the wwe cooperate website that wwe 24/7 is available in italy and japan , do you know of any plans of it being made available in the uk / ireland. lastly i read on your cookbook that you listed dublin in third place in the best foreign cities to eat in , i was wondering when you were with the wwe in dublin. i went to an event in dublin in 1993 (after wrestlemania 9). i dont remember much about it except that bret hart wrestled bam bam bigelow in the main event. just wondering were you at that by any chance? sorry for all these questions at once and thanks for taking the time to read them. you make watching wwe on tv a better experience.
Contact your local cable company for 24/7 info as they know exactly where they are in their negotiations with WWE 24/7. I was not in Ireland in 1993 but traveled to Sheffield, England about thatsame time for a televised event in the UK.
Maybe its me but greedy mayweather is only doing this wrestling thing because he knows he get destroyed in a MMA environment! Almost any MMA guy would take him to the ground and the fight would be over! Guess floyd is not calling out MMA guys; because he knows in a wrestling environment its at least controlled!
I don’t know how well Mayweather would fare in the MMA world but unless he has a ground game we don’t know about it would be challenging at best.
Hey, JR. Do you think Mark and Glen…(taker) and (kane) will have a rivalry again? Those were my favorite times of the wwe.
I personally don’t see it but one never knows.
Well is there something that RAW houseshows have much better matches than ECW/Smackdown Matches. Because When reading RAW Houseshow Reults they Have much better Match Ups. Also is there a chance seeing Bret Hart Having maybe one more Match?
I have no answer to why the RAW live events are perceived to be better than the other brands and that opinion is subjective, as it relates to the reviewer. It would be great if Monday Night Raw could more closely resemblethe Raw live events but that’s just a personal opinion. No, Bret Hart is not a candidate to wrestle again.
Dear J.R., For years I’ve been wondering if the WWE would ever considering holding a Wrestlemania in St. Louis. Now, I know the next few years are already planned out, but I’d love to see it come here maybe WM26 or WM27. Plus, what better place to host the HOF inductions than the Chase Plaza Hotel? Anyway, has it ever been considered or is it just an arena size issue?
Those plans are made years in advance. I am not in that loop. I don’t know how hard the city of St. Louis is trying to recruit Wrestlemania either. St. Louis works for me personally but the city fathers have to show that they want the event as the Orlando mayor and associates did.
To the greatest announcer Alive!, I’m 14 and have been watching wrestling all my life. And i’m hoping you won’t toss this question aside. In ratings do you think that TNA is coming closer to defeating WWE and do you think it could build into another WCW and WWE battle?
Raw’s ratings are approximately 300% more than TNA. TNA competes with ECW for comparable ratings and no there is no Monday Night War on the horizon.
Hello JR hope all is well with you my qustion to you is I was wondering is there any truth behind the “real” life fight between Batista and Booker T if so would you care to go in to any details allso would you fell Booker left the wwe with animosity and why ? any way thanks for your time have a great day
Booker and Batista had a scuffle at a production shootbut I don’t think that would have had any thing to do with Booker leaving the WWE. I can’t speak for Booker or the WWE but I have not heard any more in the WWE disparage Booker, who I have a friendship with, and it seems that Booker is happier now that he has changed business addresses. If Booker is happy, then I am happy for him.
JR, I was watching the new Stone Cold DVD and his match with HBK at King of the Ring 1997. I remember when I saw it on PPV when I was a kid, there was a Special Olympics fan who either hopped the guardrail or he accidentally fell over. What do you remember about this? I thought it was admirable that HBK took the time out of his match against Austin to help the young guy out. He wasn’t kicked out of the PPV, was he? Did he get to meet his favorite superstars backstage?
I don’t remember the details but I do remember, vaguely, the incident. The special needs youngster would never have been mistreated by anyone and was probably taken backstage and allowed to calm down. It was just a case of a special youngster getting carried away.
hey jr! i would just like to know your opinion on something that my be premature: do you think that either Lita or Trish will enter the WWE HOF? both truly revolutionized women’s wrestling, and Lita is my inspiration for becoming a wrestler. also, I really think that the quality of the Divas has greatly diminished, save for Mickie James, Victoria, Beth Phoenix, and Melina. WWE used to have wrestlers who happened to be women, such as Trish, Lita, Molly Holly, Gail Kim, etc. maybe Vince is trying to appeal to the teenage boy demographic, but as a 17 year old girl, i find it almost insulting that this is the way women are being portrayed. I also feel like it’s insulting my intelligence as a fan to try to pass some of these women off as “athletes” when they’re REALLY, REALLY NOT! sorry if im venting, (which i am) but im also thinking about my future as a wrestler, because i would love to be in WWE, but not if im to be portrayed in that way. ya know?
Because fewer women have distinguished themselves over time and the fact that Trish and Lita were really good at what they did, I could see them being inducted some day. As a 17 year old girl you are not the WWE’s target demo and their producers produce the TV products to appeal to their target demo which is young men.
Hey J.R I wanna become a WWE Superstar. I’m 13, but at the 19 i wanna become one. How could i enter FCW if its still with WWE at that time? at what age?…I will try my very best to achieve my Dream.
You can be signed if you are 18 but I don’t advise it. Plus, at age 13 you’ll probably change your mind a dozen times between now and adulthood about what you want to do for a living.
Hey JR, Want to start off saying enjoy seeing you and King every Monday. I got a few questions for you. 1. Is Mick Foley really like in real life how he acts on camera most of the time. He always looks like the nicest human being alive and someone that would take time out to say hi to his fans. I have read all his books and he comes off as a great man. 2. What do you think the possibility of Jake Roberts Bam Bam Bigelow, or Rick Rude of getting in the HOF are? As a big fan of all men I would love to see it happen. Last year when I saw Hennig get inducted it was sort of surreal. It felt like only yesterday it was Summer Slam and he was taking on Bret Hart for the Intercontinental Title. It is a sad and happy moment. Happy cause a talented man got in and sad, because he is no longer with us to see in the ring. 3. Who do you think would win in a legit fight? Dr. Death Steve Williams, Terry Gordy, Bruiser Brody, or Stan “The Lariat” Hansen? These three men from what I have read have reps for being as you would put it “tougher than a 2 dollar steak” so what do think would happen if they ever got in a legit fight somewhere? 4. Could we see any more legendary tag teams or stables inducted into the HOF soon? I would love to see LOD, The Freebirds, The Hart Foundation, and the Bulldogs get in. I am really hoping to see Davey Boy get in someday as well. I think he was a great performer and one of the best to never win the big one. 5. What do you think of Dean Malenko getting into the HOF someday as well?
Mick Foley is one of the best human beings I have met in the wrestling business in my 30+ year run. He is an intelligent, decent and caring man of which thebusiness needs more. If all the aforementioned men were in their prime, Dr. Death would have been hard to handle because he was a legit 4 time NCAA Wrestling All American which means brawlers and strikers usually get humbled much of the time when they are taken off their feet. All the men you mentioned were legit bad asses nonetheless and a fight between any of them would have had casualties.
Hello sir. I’m a huge fan of the voice of Monday nights. Ever since I was a baby I would vist my grandparents in the great town of Midwest City, OK (which I still do to this very day!) Any chance of opening a store in Midwest City area? Maybe near the old mall (if you can call it that)? I cannot wait till Wrestlemania 24. HBK vs Flair will be a classic! Thank you for your passion every Monday night as well as PPV.
We have discussed putting a J.R.’s Family Bar-B-Q near Tinker Field, but that would be down the road. Until then I hope you will make the short drive down to Norman and enjoy our great food and friendly service.
I’ve been a wrestling fan since around Wrestle Mania IV, and living in Tennessee all my life (yes, I have all my original teeth and wear shoes), I have gotten to see all the great companies in some way shape or form - WWE, NWA, Smoky Mtn., WCCW, etc. I grew up loving tag team wrestling and still do to this day, even though it is rarely seen. The Hart Foundation, Demolition, Tully and Arn, the Rockers, R&R Express, Midnight Express and even later with Edge and Christian, the Dudleys and the Hardyz. My question, through all that rambling is, what are your thoughts on the lack of quality tag team wrestling? And second part to that is your thoughts on tag teams being a team and not just two guys (i.e. Miz and Morrison) with seperate music and all that, Cade and Murdoch is what I’m talking about, but as of late seem to not be on tv. Well, thanks for reading and enjoy all the great work you have done over the years. My goal in life was commentate wrestling and went to college to do so, but haven’t been able to get over some hurdles. Once again, thanks. Brent W. Mason
WE have addressed the tag team scene on many occasions. Depth….Depth…the lack of Depth is a major issue. Plus the commitment from creative to provide tag teams more than an obligatory appearance on TV is essential to make tag team wrestling mean something in today’s world.
J.R. I was wondering if you have any idea when the WWE would be returning to Sioux City, IA at the Tyson Events Center? Also, I was wondering on your previous trips to Sioux City, if you have eaten at Famous Daves? Its a BBQ joint that is real close to the events center. Thanks for your time and I love your site.
Call your arena about future WWE dates. I have eaten at several Famous Dave’s BBQ and some were better than other which is normal for franchised restaurants.
Great website JR and keep up the great work !
We will try but we are a two man team here and this site takes a great deal of time. Hopefully we will develop some customers from it which will make it possible to continue it. Thanks for stopping by.
First oof, many thanks for answering my previous question regarding Gordon Solie - it was especially good to gain your insight, especially as it came from the dual standpoint of having worked with him for a fair amount of time, and being very much involved with Todays style of Broadcasting. Right, question time, methinks… 1) Have you considered, or had interest expressed, in having stockists in the UK have your products on the shelves? While I appreciate that it would take a great amount of time and investment to launch your products on such a large scale over here, something tells me the Full Houses the WWE gets everytime you’re on our shores would suggest you wouldnt be an unknown name or our store’s shelves… 2) I know this is more of a “Fans Question” to answer, but spending all your life in the business, in my opinion, qualifies you as one of the Greatest fans. Therefore - What would be you’re all time, one night only card? (Dead, Alive, or Persona Non Grata) 3) I do realize this isn’t your “Where are they now” section, but I would be interested to know whether you have ANY contact with my all time favourite Referee, WCW’s Randy Anderson? Surely, there’s gotta be a refereeing spot vacant on one of the shows… Thanks again JR. Without you, the WWE, and the Superstars from past, present, and future; I would have left my childhood behind, and had to grow up. I’d rather be a Raw loving “Peter Pan” Anyday.
In order for us to have any success with our products in a more direct sales approach in the UK we would have to have a partner in the UK who is in that business. Thus far that hasn’t happened but we hope it will some day. Randy Anderson passed away quite some time ago from cancer.
Are you going too expande Jr’s BBQ here on the west coast like sacramento CA? We dont really have any good bbq places here maybe one i can think off but the others not that good
One never knows. The bottom line with the what if Bar-B-Q questions is this….we are going to build several stores in the Oklahoma area because are are more able to manage them and make sure they are up to our standards. Once those stores mature we hope to franchise J.R.’s Family Bar-B-Q to other owner/operators who could be any where around the Globe. That means that we will not dictate where these stores will be built and it will be up to the owner/operators to decided where they want to build and invest their money to open our concept.
First off, I’m gonna order some of your bbq sauce and have a taste off with Sugar Baby Ray’s… good luck. Two points/questions: 1) I have watched wrestling for a long time and have felt for a while now that the Undertaker might be the greatest wrestler of all time. Props to Hogan, Flair, Hart and Michaels but Taker can combine many skills from each of these wrestlers and perform athletic feats untouchable by them. When have you seen Hogan walk the top rope or flair run across the ring and leap effortlessly well over the top rope? It’s no wonder he recieved a title shot in a year and was cheered as a heel more then Cena is cheered today. What do you think is the undertaker’s position among the greats? 20 I may be alone on this one but i was personally dissapointed on Cena being entered in the WM main event. Not to slam Cena. Even though I don’t care for him that doesn’t mean he isn’t good. I was disappointed for two reasons. 1) Cena already recieved his title shot. If they wanted him in another title match they should have done it on Raw or at Backlash. 2) I don’t like the idea of triple threat matches at ppv for the world title. maybe I’m old school but the epic WM main events of the past wern’t triple threat matches. In the grand daddy of them all it should be traditional one on one. Your thoughts? Thanks.
Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce is good stuff but ours will hang with it I assure you. Taker has established himself as one of the top 5 all time in the WWE and may well rank with Andre as the top two based on longevity and productivity.I am not a huge fan of Triple Threat Matches at Wrestlemania as one of the main events but no one asked my opinion and I am sure the WWE Title match will be well done.
Hey JR Got a few for ya… 1. With all he sports stats, card results, and wrestling moves stored up there how do u remember anything else? 2. Other than the HE HATE ME guy, have any other XFL players made it to the NFL? 3. We all know you’re a Sooner but, what NFL team would you say is your fav. and finally…. 4. Where the devil is Tony Schiavone?
I read a great deal and have been blessed with relatively good retention skills. I started reading the sports pages when I was 5. QB Tommy Maddox started for the Steelers. Corey Ivy is a DB who is with the Ravens the last I looked. There were a few more. No favorite NFL team but I do follow the NFL teams with Sooners playing on them. Schiavone is doing radio in Atlanta.
Hey JR, You and the King are extraordinary announcers, i love watching RAW and listen to you guys call the matches. I have a question, what do you think of the new HD sets? do you think that it makes the brands seem the same or do you think it is an improvement for the better?
I think the sets are first class. That isfar from my area of expertise but they look good to me.
Let me just say that I am a huge fan of your’s and of the business as a whole. I was wondering if you had heard John Cena’s comments on The Rock? What are your thoughts, both on Cena’s comments and whether or not you agree with him.
Sure I heard them and have commented on them. John as a right to his opinion whether I personally agree with it or not. What got lost in John’s comments is the fact that Cena honestly likes Rock and has a great deal of admiration for him. Rock was one of the few stars that would give Cena the time of day when John first came to the WWE main roster.
To Good Ol’ JR What was the moment in WWE that may have disgusted you? (No Montreal Screwjob) If you were given a chance to induct somebody into the HOF, who would it be?
Mae Young giving birth to a hand did not work for me personally and I never understood how it helped the show, sold tickets, or enhanced one’s persona. Dr. Heiney was not one of my favorite skits. This year if I could induct one person it likely would be the late broadcaster Gordon Solie.
Will WWE ever tour in India? I’m an Indian and disgusted by Khali because of the fact that he’s the worst wrestler in the world right now. So what are your thoughts on him?
I don’t know the facility situation in India but if the WWE can make money there the WWE will tour as it has in the past. Khali is an attraction and should not be billed as a highly skilled technical wrestler.
Hi JR!!! I am a 12 year old boy from New Zealand and I love listening to you and King rant and rave everytime Raws on. I was just wondering if WWE will ever bring a live Raw, Smackdown or ECW to New Zealand. We only ever get the tours and it would be cool to see a live RAW or Smackdown. Have you ever been to New Zealand??? Thanks from Nick. (P.S: Is JR’s BBQ ever going to come to NZ??? it sounds delicious!!!)
I have never traveled to New Zealand, but the WWE tours their annually it seems but I have heard nothing about doing a TV show there.
Hey JR, In the past WWE have had dealings with AJPW and Michinoku Pro on tours to the point of trades of talent. Kaientai of course, as well as Great Sasuke, Tenryu, Koji Kitao and the Great Kabuki had all been through the WWE events, I even have a AJPW/WWE tape with Tiger Mask II vs Bret Hart and others. At this point does the WWE have any interest in doing another tour with a Japanese Federation like AJPW, and if so do a talent exchange again?
Highly unlikely as the WWE likes to do their own thing and promote a completely self contained show. The wrestling landscape in Japanhas changed a great deal over the past decade.
Hi JR just a question of parallels. Back in the 70s and 80s, Andre the Giant was the big man of the WWE, in my own opinion. Everyone had high regard for him and he was “The 8th Wonder of the World” in terms of stature and just aura. And quite importantly, he was synonymous with WWE. Would you say, in today’s day and age, you could compare The Undertaker to Andre the Giant? He has dominated the 90s and 2000s much like Andre did in the 70s and 80s. Both had huge appeal to the fan base. And both have their own undefeated streaks (Taker at Wrestlemania, and Andre for quite some time as well). Your thoughts? Thanks! Vithuran
As I have mentioned in the past, Taker compares very favorably to Andre in many ways. By the time Taker hangs ‘em up his legacy may even super-cede Andre’s.
Hey JR, I was intrigued to find out that there is a movie in the works on the life of André René Roussimoff, better known in the wrestling world as Andre the Giant. They will have a number of characters protrayed including, Vince Mcmahon, Adrian Adonis, Bruno Sammartino, and Terry Funk to name a few. Though a majority of the actors playing the movie are fairly unknowns, “rumor” has it to be a fairly accurate story of his life from childhood, to wrestling, to his demise. Have you heard or read anything about this movie in the making? If yes, what is your take on this? I honestly hope it is respectful and as truthful as possible. Movie that are about wrestling and the wrestling tend to get a bad rap due to the ignorance of the people who made them.
I have no knowledge of this movie concept or even if it is in the works. If any one has any additional info please let us know.
Hey Mr. JR, Im a big fan of yours and of C.M. Punk. My Question is this What do you think of Samoa Joe? I think that he is a great wrestler. JR you should watch some roh dvd’s there great. My friend Nigel McGuinness is the champion in it. He looked up to Mr. Regal. The Champion is only 29 years old. Supposedly the wwe was interested in signing him but he is under contract. I have Batista’s book and its great. Do you think that The Undertake or Kane would ever right 1 of there own? Paul Bearer should don’t you think so? I met Paul 1 time and Terry Funk to. Terry’s so funny and nice to. He told me great things about you how your a great guy also how your nice to everone and that’s great to hear that about you. JR I saw and met him in 2005 when he got honored for the Cauliflower Alley Club’s Iron Mike Mazurki Award. Sir Oliver Humperdink was also there. And he shared some great stories about Bam Bam. Ox was there so was Frankie Kazarian to. Terry also talked about Eddy Guerrero. Like Eddy was calling him. What do you think of Terry Funk and Paul Bearer?
I enjoy Samoa Joe’s work when I get a chance to see it. We have received many of your emails Mandy and even I know you are a ROH fan which is fine with me but….we get it. Terry Funk is off the charts talented and a great guy as is Paul Bearer who I consider a valued friend as well. Both men are credits to the business.
Why wouldnt WWE give Jeff Hardy the WWE title when he was soo hot? There is no excuse for them not giving Jeff the title non at all!
Need you ask this question after recent events involving Jeff?
Dear Mr. Ross I am a long time reader and i am proud to say I never e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-ver (can you guess who these questions are going to be about?) miss RAW 1 way or another. Firstly I loved the actual wrestling match Y2J v Hardy had from last week & noted with intrest that Y2J won without the “code-breaker”. Not that long ago you made the blog comment about the over reliance on a finisher & missing the surprise pin victories. Coincidence?, does Y2J read your blog or did J.R get in his ear prior (or after) the match to discuss that point? Secondly, did Y2J really come up with the idea for the money in the bank ladder match? And lastly can you think of anyone off the top of your head that had all the skills but never caught on due to a real dud of a gimmik? Regards Linden
Coincidence on the first one even though I don’t know if Jericho reads our stuff or not. I have heard that Jericho came up withe Money in the Bank Ladder match concept. Mike Shaw could have been a viable villain if he had kept his weight down and had not been saddled with the persona of Bastion Booger.
mr. ross, my brother and i were at conseco this past monday night for raw. let me just say thanks for coming and thank god that summerslam will be here too. we’ve already bought our tickets in the pre-sale. i was wondering if you thought we were a good crowd monday night.
Indianapolis seemed to be a lively bunch. Enjoy Summerslam.
Hello JR, Now JR you had to of known where the ” Death of Mr.McMahon was going” there is alot of questions. They is no need to not reveal to angle where this was going. Unless McMahon blows up again. It is said the Beniot did that I dont know what was going threw his mind. Do you think that if the Benoit thing would not have happend where would this storyline whould have lead to. Was it you JR who blew up McMahon? I know I wouldnt want to kiss a 62 year old mans ass. I know it entertainment but seems like your the ass of all the jokes.
I was not privy to where the McMahon death angle was headed, contrary to your preconceived notions. I don’t ask about long term storyline direction. I would rather be surprised just like any other fan. I don’t know where this matter would have gone in light of the Benoit tragedy but I can assure you that the bomber wasn’t yours truly. Please tell Oliver Stone I said hello.
Hey J.R. i am a 20 year old wrestling fan who can remember as far back as Wrestlemania 8 where Savage defeated Flair for the title. I would love to hear your thoughts on WWE hall of famer Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig. Curt is my favorite wrestler of all time. The guy had it all. Charisma, mic skills, technical wrestling ability, the guy was phenomenal. I can hardly believe its been 5 years since his tragic death. Some stories of the flawless one? Can you confirm the Mr. Perfect DVD in the works?
The Hennig story via DVD will be a good one and is due out later in 08. I think it will be super.Curt was grossly underrated as a in-ring talent but he seems to be best know, unfortunately, as a prankster and a partier. Without question Hennig was one of the greatest natural athletes the WWE ever had. No one is without flaws no matter their marketing moniker.
JR.. I just finished watched the Survivor Series 01 WWE vs the Alliance, and despite the solid gold matches that was done during that great time, I think the best thing about that PPV was you commentating with Heyman. I can’t quite quote all the material you two bantered back and forth, but I think the funniest line came from you when an ECW member of the Alliance did a good move and Heyman was just all over it, you said something to the effect of, “Well why don’t we just start an ECW chant then?” That was Gold! In fact your back and forth with him was so perfect given the Storyline presented. Now there isn’t a more perfect partner than Jerry Lawler too commentate with you, ever since the mid to late 90’s he has been and continues to be a awesome Heel foil to your Straight talk commentating, but during the alliance period did you enjoy any of the time you were calling matches with good ol` Paul E?
Heyman was a great antagonist and probably has never gotten his just due as a broadcaster. Paul was really, really good and was one of the very best I ever worked with and I haveworked virtually with them all. Paul and I had great on air chemistry and would we suspend the fact that it was show biz and actually get emotional with each other which made for some great TV. Working live TV shows with Paul was always an unpredictable adventure.
JR the fans want Chyna back why cant Vince McMahon see this. I think shes more talented than any female on the current Roster including the Glamazon. Why wont the WWE rehire her? Isnt Sports Entertainment supposed to be what the fans want to see. WE WANT CHYNA! please bring her back it will be good tv.
For what fans doyou speak? Everyone? Have you done a poll? Spoken directly to Chyna? Do you know that Chyna wants to come back to the WWE? My guess is that she doesn’t and that you have her video memorized.
Hi JR, I have 3 questions for you. I know that Jerry Lawler likes to draw and I was wondering if you also like to draw. Do you think that Cena will be in the Hall of fame eventually? I really enjoyed the commentary Cena provided during the main event on the March 3rd Raw. Do you think when he ends his in ring career he could be a commentator?
I have no artist talent other than I am not a bad cook. Yes I do think John Cena will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fameyears from now and he will likelystill be booed on that occasion. Cena has a natural gift of gab and could make a really good color commentator with a little practice.
Hi J.R First off thanks for answering my question. I do appreciate it considering there are many people with what could be considered more ‘valuable’ questions. I would just like to say that this is a great site and not many people put in the hard work that you and your family do in making it a great site full of excellent content. So for that, thank you. To continue I was just wondering what your thoughts are on Kurt Angle and some of the comments that he has directed towards Vince and the WWE in general. I, myself miss Kurt Angle, I believe he is not on a stage befitting a talent such as himself in TNA. I have watched the product and dont find it entertaining in the slightest. Do you agree that Kurt is wasted on TNA? And if so, would you petition Vince to hire him back, seeing as it was probably you (in your previous position as vice-president of talent relations) who found him? I do miss Mr Angle and believe that the WWE would be a better enhanced product if he were to return. His promos were always fun to watch and he is the most purest talent in wrestling today. I have always wanted to see him in a feud with Chris Jericho or even have a series of earth shattering, crowd-entertaining matches with him. It brings back so many memories of the 2000-2003 era when he used to have great grapple matches with The Rock and Stone Cold. But to have the latter 2 back is just wishful thinking. In terms of Kurt, I do believe it is a real possibility, but do you think this is possible after what he has said about the WWE? i.e a lesser work schedule, being worked too hard? Im sure there is more but I dont really remember that much. Your thoughts, as always, are greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read my questions, again great job J.R and as a closing ‘P.S’, when payday rolls around this month, I will be sure to bring some of that jerky and BBQ sauce to Manchester England, via online ordering, for a first taste. Im sure I will enjoy it!
I have zero personal issues with Kurt and realize he is milking the media, as he should, for all the PR he can muster for the company for which he works. Wrestlers have been doing this for years, long before I was born. The work schedule in wrestling has always been an issue since day one for me when we worked 6-7 days a week for 51 weeks a year and were never home on Thanksgiving or Christmas. I personally thinktravel/work schedules should be re-evaluated but I don’t have the exact answers but I do think that a week or two here and there during the year where only TVs are done might be a nice start.
Hello JR With Wrestlemania 24 being held in an open air arena, will it bring back memories of Wrestlemania 9 at Ceasers Palace? your first WM. At least this time you wont have to wear a toga. Can i just ask your opinion please, do you like it when people ask you lengthy questions on here or do you prefer them short and sweet? Thank you
Agreed, not wearing a toga will be nice. However I am looking forward to working outdoors. Succinct questions have the best chance of making the cut and being answered. Remember I have to read all these emails and the longer ones are more likely to be deleted. Short and sweet.
