J.R. Update from Orlando..

Posted in:

We are still enjoying Orlando and the Wrestlemania weekend "hangover" is prominent. It's been a memorable weekend, to put it mildly, as I have spent a great deal of time with Ric Flair and his family.

There will never be another "Nature Boy," for the record.

The DVD of the 2008 WWE HOF induction ceremony will be a "must have" as all the speeches will air in their entirety, plus the WWE had cameras everywhere.

My speech inducting Gordon Solie had to be significantly shortened due to the show running long. I consider inducting "The Dean" into the WWE HOF a big time honor. Gordon earned my respect in 1964 when I was 12.

The Citrus Bowl is in dire need of an upgrade, as the WWE constructed a "tent city" to act as locker rooms and utilized portable toilets and showers. Nonetheless, the old stadium looked like a shining diamond on TV. It was one of the best "looks" of any 'Mania I can recall.

Floyd Mayweather is something else. The best celeb/athlete I think the WWE has ever worked with at a Wrestlemania. The Floyd-Show match far exceeded my expectations. Floyd was so gracious to me after the event, as he signed one of the gloves he used at WM 24. He also said he would love for yours truly to call his fights, which made me feel really good.

Raw's Triple Threat Match had the best executed conclusion of a Triple Threat match I can recall. It was as intense as anything I've seen in a while.

The lights went out during the diva tag as well as our monitor. I misidentified Melina and Maria, which was my mistake, as I had to use the screens at the entrance area as a "monitor."

This WM24 was all about the "Naitch." I love the guy, as does anyone who is Ric's friend. I had to wipe tears from my eyes a few times during Ric's match with HBK, who also had an emotional day on Sunday. Ric showed me a custom made Rolex that Shawn presented him to commemorate Ric's induction into the HOF. Shawn Michaels, who has enduring respect for his boyhood idol, is a class act.

Monday Night Raw is definitely "must see TV," if you are a fan of Ric Flair. Ric is scheduled to say his final goodbyes in the ring tonight. Tape tonight's show....just trust me on that one.

I will have a more detailed blog in a couple of days on my Orlando trip, of which there is plenty to discuss.

Thanks!
