As you can tell, our webmaster has been doing a tremendous amount of work on this site and we appreciate everyone’s patience. Just as in life sometimes, one has to take one step backwards to take two steps forward. Be sure and check out all the great, new things that you can purchase and have delivered right to your door in time for the holidays – or for any gift giving occasion.
Bar-B-Qed Feedback:
Matt- The NE Pats are in a great spot to run the table this NFL Season, but for some unknown reason I have a feeling it won’t happen. I am not a “Belichick hater,” but I simply feel it is so challenging to win every NFL game with the league having so many good teams. If the Pats don’t do it this year, the Dolphins record might never be broken for years to come.
Faarooq’s Friend- I know plenty of Californians who love Bar-B-Q sauce. Perhaps you have sampled some bad sauce, as there is plenty of it out there, especially the cheap stuff in grocery stores that has too much vinegar in it and is runny. Our sauces are not vinegar laden whatsoever and our sauces are rich. Try our Original Sauce, as it is sweet and has no hint of bitterness. Vinegar based sauce is not a favorite of mine.
Alex- I like the idea of a Wrestlemania tailgate party featuring J.R.’s Bar-B-Q in Orlando, but my time on the day of the event, if the past is any indication of the future, is hard to come by, as that is a helluva busy day from morning until late at night for yours truly. Nevertheless, I love the idea, but the logistics would need to be addressed.
Mike- You are absolutely correct in that DH Smith is a third generation wrestler, not a second. Nice catch.
SKWID- I have never understood why fans go on other sites to read our blogs instead of simply logging on to this site, looking in the store, etc. Many wrestling websites essentially re-post our entire blogs for their visitors to read, but I am scratching my head as how that helps
www.jrsbarbq.com if we don’t get the traffic. Nonetheless, I am not big on the “A” show nonsense, etc. that we toss around, usually in flippant tones, and it is highly unlikely that I will be advising JBL on how to do his job.
Shaun- I feel very certain that if Stone Cold had not encountered serious neck and spinal injuries that, at worst, he would be wrestling a part time schedule these days. Austin is still a fan and a student of the game, but his neck issues take precedent over his heart and what it wants to do.
Mike- I think the sky is the limit for Lance Cade in singles competition when the day comes for the Omaha native to go there. Cade has size, speed, youth, and is continuing to build his TV persona, which is evolving nicely. Also being trained by HBK did not hurt Cade’s entry into the business.
Chris- Morrison, Punk and Miz are all in the same basic standing, in my perspective, in that they are all young and should keep improving, and none are close to peaking. Punk has more in-ring experience, I would surmise, so the ECW Champion might be leading his peers by a nose. Most weeks I really enjoy ECW as they feature more wrestling in their one hour show than most hours of wrestling on TV.
david- Your promotion of Abdullah the Butcher for the WWE Hall of Fame has been printed and acknowledged. I agree that Abby is a legend. I have “put in good words for people that have paved the way” more than you would ever imagine.
Mike- Thanks for the kind words comparing yours truly to “The Dean” Gordon Solie, who set the standard in my opinion for wrestling broadcasters to follow for time and memorial. Gordon was an impossible act to follow. No doubt a HOF’er.
Matthew S.- The Freebirds were slightly ahead of the Four Horsemen as it relates who came first, as best I recall. Anyone want to contribute on this one?
Sy/UK- I would suggest that the UK would be an awesome place to vacation if one would take the time to invest a couple of weeks there. Personally, I have never taken a two week vacation from the WWE since 1993. The only time I have been off is when I was not with the company or was ill. Even when I was ill I did several of my non-televised duties. I have never been big on missing Raw if I could help it, but Oklahoma U still has a chance at the Monday, January 7 BCS National Title Game, which would definitely be good cause for me to miss a week.
Jeff- So you think that Michael Hayes has brain damage after watching the Legends Roundtable on WWE 24/7 do you? I am no doctor, nor have I ever played one on TV, although my faux arse once got ample TV time, but
I would think that P.S. is as sane as anyone else on the panel, including yours truly. However, late night tapings with the Freebird can get a little edgy, but it is an entertaining edgy isn’t it?
Katherine- My wife went to Wal-Mart and purchased the new Eagles CD, and yes, it is wonderful. Regarding the KC Chiefs, I am a big fan of head coach Herm Edwards, so any successes the Chiefs have don’t surprise me. I do think the Priest Holmes comeback story is an amazing one.
Rico D.- Is an “urban myth” the same as B.S. or horse manure? Sounds that way regarding J.R. having arm surgery and my arm needing to be broken to complete the surgery. Not true. No surgery. Did not happen.
Joseph- The Great Muta was hot in Atlanta largely due to his athletics, his unique look, he was a new, fresh face, and the fact that he had Manager Gary Hart speaking for him. Muta was a nice looking young man who could have also been a huge fan favorite there if the deck had been shuffled that way. Muta’s handspring elbow, the
green mist, the moonsault, etc. all contributed to Muta’s presence on TBS. With a Heenan speaking for him in the WWE, Muta could have had a helluva run. Talent is talent and Muta had ample talent back in the
day. Today his knees are shot, I am told.
Gerry/Ireland- I think the MVP-Matt Hardy rivalry has worked because it is a story that has been told over time, not rushed, and therefore has allowed the audience to emotionally invest. That’s simply good, fundamental story telling… taking nothing away from the two wrestlers.
James/UK- I know of no one who writes The King’s commentary on Raw. I am not quite sure what you are referring to. The King and I do not work off a “script,” if that is what you are eluding to.
James from Falls City, TX- Steve Austin grew up in Edna, Texas, but did live for a time in Victoria. Steve has also lived in San Antonio for a short while, but not at this time. He now shares time in Southern
California and on his south Texas ranch.
Jeremy- I love all types of food… no jokes please… especially my wife’s Italian dishes…. grilled seafood… and the occasional steak.
John- Thanks for the correction, as I apparently got some bad info regarding the seating capacity in the Staples Center regarding the Lakers vs. the WWE. My bad.
Thanks for being with us and we will have more blogs quicker than I can say, “please visit our store and let us put a smile on some one’s face for the Holidays”.
Keep the comments coming!
