Just watched Bragging Rights and enjoyed the presentation especially the show closing 60 Minute Iron Man Match.
Having a little "J.R.'s BBQ" during the festivities certainly added to the moment on an event that I would have loved to have been a part.
Random observations:
The production values in HD on a 65", flat screen TV is a cool way to watch the show. The Mrs made a great choice a few weeks ago to replace our ten year old TV.
The audio, especially the natural sounds from the wrestlers and referees , makes one feel like they are more a part of the event.
Surprising night for Smackdown. I would have lost my bet in that I was suggesting that one take Raw and lay the points. Shows what I know.
The announce team, working together for the first time in a challenging, three man booth did themselves proud. On live TV and with no net is a tough place to establish rhythm and continuity. I was proud of Michael Cole, The King, and my partner, the newlywed, Todd Grisham.
Miz defeating Morrison mildly surprised me and the former tag team partners had a solid start to the show and it put Raw in a dominating position with SD having to win two straight which I felt like added to the underlying story of Bragging Rights. Miz can now tell the world that he carried the banner for Raw while the "other guys dropped the ball." Nice.
The Divas got some much needed TV time which will hopefully lead to something for them all. I am awfully high on the in ring abilities of Natalya Neidhart and feel she can add quality match time to the Smackdown Diva bouts. In any event, the addition of Beth Phoenix and Mickie James to SD can't do anything but help SD.
Several young talents got some viable exposure no matter how succinct some fans may have perceived it. Again, I'm about quality of minutes and not quantity of minutes. Guys like Kofi Kingston, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, R Truth, etc got a chance to make verbal and or physical contributions that will hopefully lead to bigger and better things for them and who they step in the ring with in the coming weeks.
WWE getting younger at the top is imperative and I felt that Bragging Rights helped forward that movement.
Chris Jericho will likely continue to be the most despised man in WWE which is apropos and befits his ample skills. The SD team winning the 7 man tag, as I mentioned, surprised me but not in a bad way.
Hey, I'm on the "Blue Team" even though I still have a little, Raw red still running through my veins.
Fans can choose to nit pick any 7 man tag all they choose but with 14 bodies in one, one fall match these massive tags are tough to navigate. The follow up, or fall out as it were, should make for some potentially intriguing TV. For any one who may think that 14 athletes are going to get "equal time" in a bout such as this isn't realistic. The things that were top line issues got the focus they seem to need/warrant. I thought the 7 man tag delivered as expected, again in a challenging format.
A Jericho/Big Show vs. DX issue looms one would assume.
Fatal 4 Ways can only have so many agendas and the biggest thing to come out of the World Title Match was the Batista-Mysterio issue which should make for some interesting Friday Night Smackdown. The big, disgruntled bully against the smaller underdog seems to be a dog that will hunt.
I throughly enjoyed the 60 Minute Ironman Match and that was the match that I would have most loved to have participated in from an old school perspective. Cena and Orton rose to the occasion, in a physically demanding environment and told a magnificent story to bring the PPV to the close it needed. Loved the physicality and intensity as "going the hour" is a challenging piece of business. Cena is unquestionably and obviously the "Face of WWE" which is no revelation but was certainly reaffirmed Sunday night. Orton has raised his game to an extraordinary level and he's still not nearly as good as he is going to be considering his age and what lies ahead for the third generation wrestler. That's a scary thought.
The mental and physical demands of wrestling for an hour are beyond comprehension and after having talked to guys like Jack Brisco, Ric Flair, Harley Race, the Funks, Ricky Steamboat, Bret Hart, etc about these marathons, it has made me appreciate even more what these guys put themselves through to accomplish this feat.
My hat is off to both John Cena and Randy Orton with much respect.
The crowd looked and sounded great on TV which is a big thank you to the Pittsburgh folks especially after the Steelers had a home game earlier in the day that I watched from start to finish. Mrs JR is a major Sixburgh fan so I had to be a little laid back when my boy Adrian Peterson was doing his thing for the Vikes. Nonethless, the Pittsburgh faithful had a full day and still came to the Mellon Arena and helped make the show better.
On a personal note, I am scheduled to get my MRI results late Monday afternoon of which I feel exprememly confident that I'll get good news.
For those that have done any sort of Goggle, etc searches re: Bells palsy, you know that the time-line for healing is not an exact science not to mention the odds of having the damn affliction three times. I look at it as just a part of my journey and after rebounding from it twice I have no doubts that I will do so again.
Life is good. I got to see my Sooners get an important, road win Saturday in Lawrence, Kansas, spend quality time with some good friends, hang out with Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford on one of his last days on the Sooner sideline before his season ending surgery Wednesday, eat some J.R.'s BBQ and watch WWE's bragging Rights on Sunday night.
So what would I have to complain about? Not a thing.
Boomer Sooner!
J.R.
P.S. BTW I don't want to neglect to thank those of you who are doing business with us in our store as your continued support is really appreciated.

With the Announcement today in NYC that Hulk Hogan has signed on today full time with TNA Wrestling, and that Eric Bischoff along with his company Bischoff Hervey Entertainment have signed on to develop and shop new TNA programming to all networks, do you feel that now they can compete with the WWE?
Now that TNA President Dixie Carter, who owns TNA, can now step up and finally be real competition? Also seeing these changes coming to fruition, would you yourself consider once your contract elapses to join the company in some capacity, be in front or behind the scenes, knowing the events that are now taking place?
Live, Love, Eat and Wrestle just don`t try it at home! Greetings from Wilmington NC once again. Just wanted to say I am glad to see you are feeling good and ready for the next round. We certainly missed your guiding words at Breaking Point. But I am willing to bet you`ll be showing `em how to do it by SS. We love you, hurry back soon.
P.S. Did you say 65" ?
Hey J.R.
First of all, good luck recovering. As someone who suffers from the same illness it is not easy, however you know, it can be done
One thing I can tell you that helped me on the road to recovery was Acupuncture, I was nervous at first, however, after 4 weeks of treatments I was very close to a full recovery. That compares to the first time which took me almost 6 months to recover.
Good luck to you J.R. and I hope to see you on Smackdown soon!
JR don't you think most Sooner boosters feel bad now about encouraging Sam Bradford to come back for this season. He could have gone number one or two in last year's NFL draft and had his name on a big contract now. Instead he's got a busted up shoulder and where he goes in the draft, his pro prospects at all, depends on how well Dr. Andrews can put it back together. Typically pro teams looking to draft a quarterback of the future won't like to gamble on a guy who's already busted up his throwing arm and had it surgically repaired.
Coming back for this year could cost Sam millions and millions. There's got to be some guilt on the part of those who didn't do all they could to get him to go pro last year.
On Bragging rights:
I to would have bet on Raw, but then I am a huge HBK fan and have been the entire time I have followed WWE and that is since Wrestlemania XI.
I agree totally that the young stars of both Raw and Smackdown were great. I loved seeing DH Smith going against HBK, it reminded me of great battles between his father and Shawn, most memorable of which was in 1997 for the European Title here in the UK.
I was impressed with the World Heavyweight Title bout and was not surprised with Batista's turn on Rey. That is something I felt was on the cards for a few weeks.
Cena & Orton performed brilliantly, and provided a sound and enjoyable match and that is from someone who is not a fan of either.
Overall a fantastic show and glad it was on Sky Sports as opposed to Box Office.
On your good self:
I hope that your optimism/expections are indeed accurate when you get your MRI results.
I hope that you will have a quick recovery and that we will see you back on WWE TV soon.
I really missed you on commentary for Smackdown and Bragging Rights. Please do not get me wrong, Michael Cole, Todd Grisham and The King did a great job, but you add an extra dimension to it and in my head you were calling some of that action.
Take Care JR.

"I would have lost my bet in that I was suggesting that one take Raw and lay the points"
Yes J.R., you would have cost me some money if I took your advice ;)
I knew Jericho would bring home the bacon!
J.R., been there done that with Bell's myself. I was told reoccurrence was greater for people who had already contracted it, but three times? You have a history of recovery, so we’ll pray that this time is no different. Good luck!
Hey Jr,
I did not see the pay per view last night. I was watching the Yankees game last night on HD. I am an avid Yankees fans, baseball fan who bleeds the pinstripes. My friend burn me a copy of bragging rights. I was more in the Yankees game last night. Who are u picking in the worldseries. Yankees or Phillies. Get Well soon
Jr.
What's up J.R.?
I was surprised to see Miz top Morrison, Team Smackdown top Team Raw, although with Jericho, nothing surprises me at all. He's the best Heel in the business. I was also surprised to see Cena top Orton. I figured the way the match was built up, it looked like it was the end of Cena on Raw.
Taker didn't surprise me. He looked good. According to the dirt sheets, you'd think he would belong in a wheelchair the way they sound. You can't count out the Deadman.
Speaking of football, how about them Steelers. That was an excellent game that could have easily gone Minnesotas' way. I'm pretty sure Willie Gay is having a hard time living down that hit Adrian Peterson put on him on The Vikings second last drive. That was an excellent game yesterday. At any rate, hope you're feeling better. Get back strong. Thanks.
Hi JR..
I im sitting in front om my computer and i thought that i am going to enter you're name at youtube.com and i found some interesting video content that made me laugh.....i think you should try it, to get just you're thoughts on the days when you had battles or rivalries, if you will. w / HHH and Steve Austin and with Eric Bishoff..no wonder you and steve austin are great friends.......
It was nice to see something just for the fun of it....and YES what will wwe be without good OI JR.

Watching a Bragging Right with some BBQ is really a great combination. When I am watching a Bragging Right, I want it to be with my friends. By the way, did you know about the latest on cell phone companies might be gearing up to give credit cards a run for their money, service wise. There's a company called Paymo, that function similar to PayPal, and it's already in 45 countries. It hasn't taken off in the U.S. yet, but they are trying to enter into the market. A user can scan their phone at the counter, or purchase items via text messaging. A deduction is then made from a prepaid account, or added to the phone bill. They've already partnered with the cell phone companies, including AT&T, T Mobile, and Virgin Mobile. It may not replace the credit cards companies completely, but it will certainly boost cell phone application convenience.
Get well soon J.R. You are missed on SmackDown and you are in my prayers.
Even though I have never met you I feel like you are my friend and I wish I could shake your hand.
God Bless.
R.Davids
Wow...I told you so...My money was on SD through the whole PPV...the 7 tag team match was great no doubt about that...one thing that surprised me was Miz vs Morrison, I lost money on that one, I never thought that the Miz will beat John M. in a match that awesome, but thats just my view..the fatal four way was a match not to remember, speaking of that, I did think that our fans will have to choose a superstar which they like, because you have the demon of death valley, 619 and the animal, but the beter man won and thats all that matter....will see what happen at SD this week.
Thanks again....also do you think that wwe will make Todd a broadcaster on Raw as a 3 man team, just for the while?
