Happy Thanksgiving...Business has Picked Up!...Jeff Hardy..TLC...Homeland

Happy Thanksgiving to all. We should always count our blessings and here's hoping that your Thanksgiving Day is filled with great food, safe travels, and enjoying time with loved ones.

BBQ'ed Random Thoughts....

We received over 100 on line orders yesterday and they were all taken to Federal Express last night for shipping. Our little team of my sister in law and my wife worked tirelessly through the the day to get many of your orders out quickly and efficiently.

The FREE SHIPPING for many domestic orders is still in effect and if you check out all the great offers we have put together you'll agree that our products make affordable and unique holiday gifts and stocking stuffers.

Remember, that we have a December 12 deadline on our personally, autographed J.R.'s Cookbooks and our 1560 The Game Special offer.  I have been busy signing your many books all week.

Oklahoma's 28 game home winning streak is on the line this Saturday, in Norman thank goodness, against in state rival Oklahoma State who has had a great year and a 9-2 record. Somehow OU is favored which I totally don't get. That's how I'll spend my Saturday in addition to hanging at JR's BBQ in Norman. I expect to hear plenty from the legendary Brisco Brothers especially if their alma mater, OSU, beats my Sooners on our own field.

At least I feel confident in saying that I won't encounter any obnoxious, embarrassment to his profession, state trooper like I did last Saturday just north of Lubbock, Texas who allowed Texas drivers to blow my doors off while he made sure and gave me a speeding ticket for being 9 miles over the limit. My Oklahoma license tag did me no favors nor did my Nike, OU sweatshirt. I'm paying the ticket and calling it a day.

How will Verne "Mini Me" Troyer "measure up" (sorry) this Monday on Raw attempting to follow the performance of WWE HOFer Jesse Ventura? Ventura raised the bar on what a guest GM can do on the WWE's top TV priority.  Bottom line is that Jesse "gets it." I would bet a case of BBQ Sauce, good deal by the way, that Verne will meet the Bella Twins and Santino Marella but most assuredly he will interact with DX due to Hornswoggle's apparent law suit. I say "SETTLE" and move on DX!!

Speaking of Guest GM's on Raw, I am pleased that I will not be on the air in Dallas when Dallas Mavs owner Mark Cuban will be the guest GM in early December and be forced to have to say the obligatory "I love Mark Cuban" or "Mark Cuban is a great guest GM." Cuban may well hit a home run and I hope for the show's sake that he does. Cuban is without question an entertaining personality who loves the soundbyte, sports world and getting on referees during NBA games but he also tried to kill OKC's chances of getting a NBA franchise.  The NBA's OKC Thunder helps the community in which I live and they do great things within the community for many, under privileged youngsters.

Check out all the things that I am thankful for as some may provide you with a laugh or two while others may end up in the "dirt." Check out http://www.wwe.com/shows/smackdown/

Our galleries page here on this site has a couple of images of what our JR's displays look like in the four,  Norman area Homeland Grocery Stores. I will be doing some in store appearances at the Norman, Oklahoma Homeland stores on December 5 and 12. More info to follow.

The Jeff Hardy DVD comes out next week, a three disc set, and I am anxious to see the completed product. I sat for a long while being interviewed about Jeff and was extremely candid. I am anxious to see how many of my comments actually made the DVD. I expect this DVD to be excellent. Jeff Hardy is and always will be one of my favorite wrestlers. And no, I  have no idea if or when he might return to WWE but Jeff Hardy is a star.

BTW...one thing that I said in my weekly Smackdown blog on www.wwe.com is that I was thankful that I was not booked to be a guest on the "Abraham Washington Show" but that I still find WWE HOF'er Tony Atlas's laugh entertaining.

This month's Legend's  Roundtable Discussion topic is "Wrestling Managers." Joey Styles hosts, and did an excellent job BTW, while Michael Hayes, Jimmy Garvin, J.J. Dillon, and yours truly discussed the lost art of wrestling managing. I read where someone wrote that Garvin had never been a manager which isn't accurate. He traveled with and managed  the late Terry Garvin in the 70's. I remember refereeing a bout that was a loser leave town match between Terry and Jimmy Garvin vs. Cowboy Bill Watts from that era. Need I tell you who packed their  U Haul? Check out WWE 24/7 On Demand which I get from my friends at Cox Cable in OKC.

Love the fact that Christian and Shelton Benjamin (thank goodness the man still has a last name) want to "steal the show" at the TLC PPV in December in beautiful San Antonio. This is not just TV hyperbole I assure you.

Condolences to the family and friends of the former wrestling promoter in Los Angles Mike Lebell who passed away this week. Lebell and his family had a tremendous, wrestling territory back in the day. The Lebell's knew their audience, generally kept talented, Hispanic wrestlers hot, and parlayed "personal issues" ala Freddie Blassie vs. John Tolos into big money. "Personal issue" development is becoming a lost art. Not to mention that there are, arguably, too many titles floating around out there and that they change hands much too often.

Seems like a cool thing that many younger fans got to hear a glimpse of the broadcast team of Vince McMahon and Jesse Ventura Monday night on Raw. McMahon and Ventura had a great run highlighted by their exposure on NBC's Saturday Night's Main Event when SNME was much more relevant and a larger part of pop culture than it has been in recent years. "McMAHON" & "The Body" along with Monsoon and Heenan all played a huge part of the WWE's TV success back in the day.

In a totally biased and egocentric statement, I still feel the best broadcast team ever in WWE was The King and JR. Hey, I said I was biased so lighten up Francis.

I still think that it's a good thing to see Sheamus getting a shot at a PPV main event which will occur in a Tables Match for the WWE Title against John Cena. Some fans have written us that they don't like it and that Sheamus is the wrong,  young guy to get this opportunity. I feel that Sheamus' "sizzle" is a work in progress just like every other young wrestler but I also know conclusively that Sheamus will bring the steak and physicality to his match with Cena. Do you think that Sheamus vs. Cena is going to close the show at TLC in San Antonio anyway? My guess is that it will be the TLC Match, duh, featuring Jericho and Show vs. HHH and home town hero Shawn Michaels. Fans need to give the Sheamus' of the wrestling world a chance to evolve and develop and not be so quick to rush to judgment.  Cena vs. Sheamus will be a fresh match that will be physical and will feature two men who will work their asses off. Those traits work for me.

We've gotten tons of emails about when is WWE going to put new guys in main events and create new rivalries and then it finally happens but then some fans complain that it's the "wrong," new guys. Jeez.

Just so every one will know who seems to be obsessed with a few questions repeatedly sent to this site, I don't plan on answering questions as to how much money I earn, what my corporate insurance plan is, what all I do  for WWE from my home office, my favorite finishing maneuver, my favorite match that I've ever broadcast, or lame questions about perceived, lame, creative issues. With that said, we are getting many more succinct, higher level of questions on an ongoing basis. For that, we are thankful as well.

It looks as if it will be 2010 before my future, broadcasting plans are addressed in more detail due to on going health issues.  After recently being diagnosed with borderline diabetes,  I have drastically altered my diet and my attendance at Happy Hours. Plus, I'm on the treadmill at our local gym several days a week. It's as if I had to be "scared straight" before I would do more things that were good for my long term health.

The facial nerve is still being stubborn but so am I and I know that it will regenerate in time. It has been usually taken around 4 months the other two times that I've had a Bells palsy attack.

Oh, yeah....someone sent me a link to a website that said that I was "angry" at a recent UK Sun interview with my friend Jerry Lawler saying that I would not be back in WWE until Wrestlemania 26. That's not true and no one has interviewed me or asked me that question so it is simply the author's interpretation of what he read. So, for the record, I am NOT angry about any thing and, to the contrary, am as happy as I can recall being in years.

Thanks for shopping with us and I hope that every one has a great Thanksgiving weekend. I will be updating this site over the next few days between food, football, a nap or two, visits to JR's BBQ and a few trips to the gym where my favorite treadmill awaits. Oh, and by the way, I have not stopped eating at JR's because of my diet as we serve smoked turkey and smoked chicken not to mention great, green beans and delicious, mayo free cole slaw....among other healthy items.

great game today! jr, the Stoops to Notre Dame rumors are now going into overdrive. One rumor says that Notre Dame is sending the team plane to Norman to fly Bob and his assistants to South Bend on Monday.  Notre Dame's AD said nothing's set yet and denied specific plans have been made.  Did you hear anything at the stadium today?

Be safe JR.Your the best.

That ticket you received was totally bogus with so many others going faster than you. I hope that you had a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving anyway.

On another note, I was reading your comment on fans complaining about the Sheamus and Cena match. I may be wrong but I don't think that the fans are complaining. I just think that they are voicing their opinions. I am not a promoter and I do not profess to know about the ins and outs of wrestling but I myself feel that Sheamus should not be in a match with John Cena now. There are plenty of other talented new wrestlers that have been proving themselves for awhile and Sheamus who just entered the WWE gets a title shot. He might be a talented young wrestler, but as a long time fan of the WWE, I do not feel that Sheamus is the right choice right now. His in-ring persona does not fit the profile to go up against Cena. In my opinion, he has not did anything so impressive to make a fan want to see him go up against Cena. But I guess because he is the newest wrestler on RAW, he was the likely choice. As you notice I kept making the point of it being just an opinion. Please do not view this as a complaint.

Happy Thanksgiving Good Ol' JR

Looks like your health issues are just about as bad as a friend of mine who just got diagnosed with colon cancer.  First, the Bell's Palsy, now borderline Diabetes?  2009 has certainly been a hellish year.  Hopefully, 2010 will be better for all of us.

Jim, I'll actually be rooting for OU against Oklahoma State because if OU wins, it means Boise State gets a chance at a BCS Bowl, that is, if BSU defeats Nevada and wins next week's game.

I hope you get well enough to attend the 2010 Cauliflower Alley Club Reunion in Las Vegas in April since you're one of the award winners.  Hopefully, I can scrounge enough money to go and see you and the rest of the CAC attendees.

I'm also sad to hear about Mike LeBell's death.  Yes, managing is becoming a lost art.

I'm looking forward to getting the History of the World Heavyweight Championship DVD when it comes out in December!

Best wishes to you.

Hello JR,

I must respectfully disagree with you for your reason for the hate of Mark Cuban.  While he may have MANY other valid reasons for dislike, his opposition of moving the Sonics to OKC I find is a little errant.  Aside from the business aspects (moving from the 14th to the 45th sized markets) the fact that an NBA championship winning team, 1979, had to move its team because the former owner sold it to another person who had NO INTENTION of keeeping it in Seattle was horrbile for a great NBA city like Seattle.  That is not to say that OKC didn't deserve a team, and showed itself to be a great NBA city too when they took on the hornets, but the WAY it got it was the bad part.  Especially when there are teams like Memphis, Charlotte, or Sacramento that don't have the history or attendance to show they should keep an NBA team.  Saying that you were mad about Cuban voting against OKC is like someone from Indy being mad when someone voted against the Colts moving from Baltimore

Best of health and happy thanksgiving despite the opposition of opinions

Brett Schiller

JR, I wanted to tell you what was told to me about Diabetes when I was told I had it about 10 years ago. There is no such thing as a borderline diabetic. You either have it or you don't. The national diabetes association has been saying this for years and even a lot of Dr's keep using the term. My Dr said that he thinks they do it to keep from scaring newly diagnosed diabetics but it doesn't really help them. It is a pain in the ass for us who like our carbs because carbs will cause you a lot of trouble most likely. I like my bread and it kills me since a carb is treated by the body as if you ate sugar. Good luck and the exercise will help but just admit you have it and don't play that boderline stuff because it will keep you from being really serious about it. swampfox

Hi, JR. I noticed WWE.com posted a survey which I was happy to fill out. I look at it like I look at elections - if you don't vote, then you shouldn't complain. But I was just wondering if you know how closely the WWE look at said surveys and whether or not they take any of it on board, particularly the "futher additional comments" section, which I'm sure many people were more than happy to oblige them with.

Anyway, here's a quick little rant that I need to get off my chest as a passionate, life-long fan that is concerned for the sport I grew up adoring, and I'd love to get your two cent's on it, as well.

First off, Survivor Series was the first PPV I enjoyed in months. I really like the concept of the classic Survivor Series elimination match, so I was pleased to see a few of those on the card. I also thought it was great how much emphasis was put on some of the new, fresh talent which is a great change of pace. The main events, while entertaining, I couldn't properly get into due to the outcomes being pretty clear-cut beforehand, in my opinion. The build towards these matches (mainly the WWE Title match, the WHC match was built quite well) didn't help matters.

Cena, Triple H and Michaels are meant to be three of the WWE's biggest stars and they were competing for what is meant to be "the richest prize in the business", so it should've felt like a big-time match and a must-see main event, yet it didn't. Not in the slighest. Why? Well, considering we've seen a combination of these three guys go at it several times before certainly doesn't help, neither does the fact it only had about a months worth of hype, but the little time that the WWE gave themselves to build this match was largely used to show DX being cute with a midget. When that wasn't happening, you had them pal around with Cena himself, ya know, THE GUY THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE FIGHTING FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP! No promos stating how they'll be doing anything and everything to ensure they leave as champion. No slight animosity teased between DX. No fire. No passion. Nothing! I'm no expert, but I always thought every wrestler in the WWE is supposed to want the WWE title? What, because Cena, Triple H and Shawn Michaels have had it so many times they're just not that bothered about it anymore? Have DX mellowed in their old age? It's a good job there were a few classic Survivor Series elimination bouts on the show 'cause I certainly didn't see anything on RAW or Smackdown that'd make me want to order the PPV. Just a bunch of shenanigans involving midgets and the odd gay joke. Seriously, if the WWE doesn't take their titles, main events and TV shows (RAW) seriously, then why should us fans?

Rant over. Get well soon, Jim.

What about the awesome broadcast team of JR and Paul Heyman? I thought that was great.

Hey J.R hope you are well, we really need the team of J.R and the King back together again on raw and I would love to see Mr Mcmahon and Jesse Ventura as the smackdown team ( I know it will never happen but they were a great team).

I would Like to ask why is The King no longer a heel Commentator, I always loved the balance between you two he was always cheering on the heels while you was the voice of reason.

Now that raw has no heel commentator I tend  not to listen to the commentating as much as it isnt as interesting when both commentators are saying the same thing. It was great the way you and King clashed and he would always Crack a funny Joke I would love to see King to return to being a heel again.

Also I want the add that Sheamus vs Cena for the title is Brilliant I have'nt been this excited to watch a pay per view in ages. Sheamus is great to watch in the ring and would be a great champion.

I really hope WWE Don't ruin Sheamus by having Cena beat Sheamus easy then drop Sheamus to the mid cards. Sheamus will be a great main eventer and a great champion.

What do you think the best way of making Sheamus the next Randy Orton?

Pleas get well soon WWE isn't the same without GOOD OLE J.R

Hey JR when will the sauces be down here in Tulsa's Homeland? Speaking of Thunder I am hoping to catch a game in January and like last year we just might grab some JR's BBQ as well.  God Bless sir and get well and back on the air soon.

hey brother, hit the incline up on that treadmill, u will burn fat faster and burn more calories than displayed. invest in good lightweight sneakers and stretch After..  after hearing current commentary, WE need u back and We need u 4 a long time!

Booker, you're flattering yourself if you think the "lighten up Francis" comments are directed at you. It's one of the punchlines from the Bill Murray classic movie, Stripes. When one of the minor characters was telling the troops that if they used his real name, "Francis" that he would "kill them". At which time the Sgt. quipped, "lighten up Francis". I would think that JR uses the line when someone is making too much out of nothing. So, lighten up Francis.

Sheamus getting a title shot seemed completely out of left field to me.  However, it will hopefully shake things up a lot b/c Cena vs. Orton is completely played out.  I'm not complaining at all, I like it!

I was kind of surprised though b/c I heard the match between Sheamus and Jamie Noble is why Noble retired.  I don't know if that is true though, we all know how rumors go.

Anyways I hope they continue to shake things up, and I'm crossing my fingers that Kofi Kingston will be competing for titles soon instead of Cena.

JR

I know a couple of years ago, you weren't too fond of the comments I made but I hope the "lighten up Francis" comments aren't directed at me. I'm glad you're admitting you're biased these days and admit that I miss yourself and the King on monday nights.

Now onto the question: Do you think Sheamus is only being pushed because of his apparent friendship with HHH? What do you make of him facing Cena so soon?

Wishing you a speedy recovery,

your old friend

Booker.

Hey, random question JR, not sure if you'll answer or not. But I was wondering if you thought there was any chance of a British/Irish rivalry in the future? Like the past the countries had their rivalries, maybe Finlay and Sheamus could team up against like William Regal and/or Paul Burchill and/or Drew McIntyre, I think it would be an interesting rivalry. But then again they'd have to turn Sheamus and I think he's pretty darn good being a heel. Unless they turned Finlay, he's been a heel in the past so he could do it again. But then they'd have to get the British team to be face, unless they have two heel teams face off.

I just want to say that I think it is great to see Sheamus in the main event match for the title and would be thrilled if he won it. I'm tired of Cena being champion, heck I'm tired of seeing the same people be champion. We finally get to see someone new with an immense amount of talent get a chance to prove himself in the title match. (Yes I do realize how wrestling works and the behind the scenes stuff, however seeing someone new going for the title and someone that is talented enough to perform like he does warrants the comments.) I've been wanting to see an Irish champion for awhile now (Finlay, not sure why he never got any good title shots.) I really hope Sheamus ends up taking out Cena. I honestly expected him to stay in ECW for awhile though and take the ECW title, but I'm happier with Sheamus taking a title from Cena than Christian, plus Shelton can take Christian's title.

Jr. I hate to hear that you are on the borderline of diabetes... My mom has type 2 diabetes.... She use splenda instead of regul. sugar.... She buy's everything with splenda in it.... You could use  splenda in your Bar-B-Q Sauce instead of regul. sugar.... My Mom cooks with it and makes sweets to with it... You can't tell hte difference in splenda and regul.. sugar... Hope you have a Big and Happy Thanksgiving Day.. God Bless You...

J.R.

You can be upset with Mark Cuben for many reasons but just stop blaming  him for trying to stop  you getting an NBA team! You may not like him, but he stuck up for a city that was getting the shaft by Clay Bennett and David Stern. I believe that team belongs to the city of Seattle. That was the biggest hijacking of a team I've ever seen. You are right in that they do many good things for the city but what about the city of Seattle? now what do they do? Gary Payton say's it best, "Don't ever retire my number cause I never played in Oklahoma" Keep the team but don't you guys ever claim you won an NBA title, The Seattle Supersonics did!

Jeff Bearden

borderline diabetes? real sorry to hear about that JR.  Maybe this is a sign that you ought to come out with a low-cal, low sugar BBQ Sauce.  I believe I read that most commercially sold BBQ sauces have between 16 and 20 grams of sugars per quarter cup of sauce.  People don't realize that some of those sauces (not talking about JR's of course!)  can have more sugar in'em than candy.

So perhaps time to develop a JR's Low cal  Low Sugar Light Heavyweight Division Sauce made with sucralose or something like that.
