Interesting Weekend

Happy Labor Day Weekend! Enjoy it & stay safe. Here's some random thoughts:
Tough weekend for my Sooners losing their season opener to BYU 14-13 in the Dallas Cowboys new palace in Arlington. Congrats to the Cougars for doing what they needed to do to win. Losing QB Sam Bradford in the 2nd quarter to injury provided a challenge my favorite team couldn't overcome. However we will continue to compete & fight thru adversity. That's the "Sooner Way." It was a heck of a nite for yours truly on the OU sideline.
One dweeb at Sunday's Dragon Gate show Sunday night made an off color remark about Sam's injury & I responded as many of you might by calling him a "wise ass." Not a classy remark by me but I felt it was deserved. Making light of a kid's injury is classless.
Plus, a BYU fan actually emailed our BBQ joint calling Sam a wimp or something like that. I never see these emails but our store's manager forwarded it to me asking if she should reply. I instructed her to ignore the idiot who also wanted a free bottle of our ketchup. Go figure.
Loved the Dragon Gate show. The fans in attendance were awesome. Their passion was infectious. Bravo to them. The talents worked so hard in the ring. Their style is uniquely fast and athletic. Lots of the great Ultimo Dragon stylings which was expected and exciting.
Had a chance to visit w/ Brian Kendrick and he seemed happy which was good. Brian's basing out of LA these days and says he has plenty of work lined up. I wish him well.
The King & I met some super fans at our pre-event signing. I enjoy hearing what's on the minds of the fans of the biz.
Thanks to all that dropped by to say hello.
Hooking back up with Jerry at these types of functions is a blast. Sunday night's banter between two, old broadcast partners felt seamless and had us both laughing out loud. It felt like old times and after Saturday night in Dallas I needed the laughs.
BTW the new Cowboys Stadium HAS to be a future Wrestlemania site. That might be a few years away but Jerry Jones creation would hold 100,000 fans which would be a headline grabber not to mention big bucks for WWE. If you ever have a chance to visit this stadium, go for it. It's the most amazing facility I've personally ever seen.
Had a nice visit w/ former Sooner Jon Cooper who was told earlier in the day that he had made the Minnesota Vikings roster. I met "Coop" as a high school senior and he's one of my all time favorite players because of his work ethic and toughness. He never got a "push" (which may be the most misused term in the wrestling biz) but turned heads by consistently working hard, improving his game, and not allowing the decision makers to overlook him. This same philosophy works in wrestling too.
The King is VERY serious about the Memphis mayoral race. He was on the phone a ton Sunday and we discussed many of the legit issues on which Jerry is focusing. I was impressed. He just might win the damn thing. Most folks are tired of professional politicians and Lawler certainly isn't that.
Bob Barker is staying at the same hotel I'm in here in Chicago. Who will get "Happy Gilmored" Monday night? Someone's got to, right? Who's gonna get the Rod Roddy announcer gig Monday night? Won't be this Okie as I don't look good in a sequin jacket. That look doesn't work w/ a black hat.
Chicago is a special city for me. This was the place where my WWE Hall of Fame announcement was made on an emotional night that I'll never forget. Plus, the King, promoter extraordinare Michael O'Brien and I had a great slab 'o red meat at Gibson's Steakhouse Sunday night. That's living.
Should be an interesting week of WWE as this is the last shot at selling "Breaking Point" PPV's.
I signed a fair amount of JR's BBQ Sauce bottles Sunday which was cool. Get your sauces, ketchup, and beef jerky now in our on line store. I promise that you'll be happy w/ what you purchase. USA customers still get FREE SHIPPING on cases ordered.
Be well...
BOOMER SOONER!

Every girl dreams of dreamy bridal wedding gowns, whatever it is short wedding dresses, plus size wedding gowns or other designer wedding dresses as mori lee wedding dresses or alfred angelo wedding dresses and more.
I am a die hard Longhorn fan. While this does not mesh well when talking football with Sooners, I will say that I think that Sam Bradford is a helluva kid, and a helluva quarterback. Hope he heals up soon, and stays that way. He has a great head on his shoulders, and has big things ahead of him in life and the NFL. Any Horn fans that are being jerks do not represent us all. Got plenty of respect for OU, Coach Stoops and Sam.
Keep up the great work Mr. Ross!
Boomer Sooner!!!
Sam should be ok from what a family member shared. Worried about Gresh much more. We'll find out today. Glad to hear that Stephen and Ben will start on Saturday (most probably) as they will shore up the OL! Great to see Ryan out there moving around and creating havoc on D! GK is well.....GK. McCoy just proved that he is the best DT to come out of college since Tommy Harris and I feel that GK is better than Tommy as he makes more plays with his speed and quickness, not just brute strength. We'll be fine with Landry at qb as he'll grow up quickly and show off his arm. Hopefully, he'll look for Miller more. I know that his dad was pleased with his two receptions, but he could have had many more to lead us. I'm off to Will Rogers AP tomorrow and can't wait to get to God's Country. Hopefully I'll get to go out after the game with Tommy and Richard at your place!
I just don't understand what's going on with Raw. It used to be a fast paced show that had big time bouts as well as setting up the newer guys. I just don't see that push happening with guys like Swagger and all the others who came over from ECW. It was more fun watching ECW than Raw. I just started watching SD again (taping it) and it's just a much better show all around and that goes for production also. JMHO.
Thanks JR.
Boomer Sooner baby, we'll come back hard!
Kpaq...I'm sure that in your mind, you said nothing offensive at all. But if you can think outside the box a little bit, understand JR is from a generation that treats others with respect, and doesn't take joy in other's injuries. If Mack Brown had been sitting there, he would have echoed Ross' remark. And though there's no reason on Earth anyone should believe you about the profanity, I can only say that not only would I have dropped an F-bomb your way, I'd have come up there and made you think twice about acting like a jerk-off in front of your supposed 'friends'. And if they were impressed, obviously they belong to the same sorority as you...
Just remember, when or if Colt McCoy gets his knee blown out, that guy who turns to you and says, "Hey dude, what's wrong with your boy? Thought he was tough, guess not, what a puss! Boomer Sooner!" with a big smile, don't get upset-he's just being funny!
So, the moral is this-leave people alone when they're trying to work. You don't see Ross coming to where you work and slapping the dick out of your mouth, do you?
J.R., I think as long as you're down there on the sideline, they should ask you to help coach the offensive line.
All kidding aside, I feel for Bradford. I root for the Jayhawks up here in KC, and I'm anticipating the Sooners visit to Lawrence, be it with Bradford or Jones under center.
Good read as always J.R,
As for Wrestlemania being in the new Cowboys stadium, and the potential to surpass the attendance record of WM 3..... Who would it take to fill that place to capacity? Austin/Hogan or Austin/Cena? long shot i know, but id bet my last dollar it would sell out no doubt!
right here in Oklahoma City is the best place in the world.Oklahoma Sooners having sam get hurt was hard thing to deal with.and that was the reason we lost the game.and it was only by 1 point.but we are talking about the Oklahoma Sooners.they will win the rest of there games this year.and we will get in to the number 1 or 2 spot.all we have to do is win the rest of games.when we beat Texas and OSU this year we will go to the Big 12 champ game and win.then we will go to the Big game of the year like last year.go Sooners!!!well see you in Tulsa at the Smackdown event.I am making the drive to Tulsa so see you and the great stars.and hopefully the wwe will come to Oklahoma City soon.wwe should come to Oklahoma City more often.have a great day!
by the way, The Young Bucks would be awesome on smackdown :)
Actually, you called me an "effing a-hole", and to "speak up so my friends can hear." And yet I'm the one with no class?
You can rip into Texas and the Horns when you're in Texas, but noone can say anything about the Sooners? It's not even like I said anything bad. I asked what happened to Bradford, bet he wishes he'd of gone in the draft, and Hook Em Horns.
Your inability to take a light-hearted rib has caused me to lose all respect for you sir. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours.
what did you think of the young bucks at the dragons gate show? I think they were added to the chicago show. I started watching them when they were on the NWA wrestling showcase shows early this year, and more recent on the roh hdnet tv program. They seem to be a combo of the rock n roll express /rockers and hardy boys in style but a a little different.. If wwe intends to develop more tag teams in the future, I hope they get signed.
Great. Thanks BYU fan for making us all look like jerks.
Hi J.R.,
Glad to hear you had a chance to visit THE Brian Kendrick and also nice to hear he's happy and has work lined up. Brian is actually my favorite wrestler and I thought he had a good future ahead of him in WWE. For whatever reason things didn't work out. But I was wondering, as Jerry Lawler was with you, did he meet Brian too? If so, then that would be the first time since "The King" beat Kendrick in one of Brian's final matches for WWE. Was there any animosity between the two lol?
It was a pleasure meeting you Sunday night as well as an amazing show. The Shingo vs. Davey Richards match absolutely stole the show! You and King are two great, standup guys and I'd hope to see you guys around once more sometime in the future.
Just wanted to say thank you,
--Boone
Saw you on the sidelines (hard to miss the hat). What an oustanding game

Hi J.R. just started to read all the recent blogs that you posted and i am amazed at the comments people make. Starting with Chavo/honswaggel, one reason i don't even watch Raw anymore. I also was amazed that you sold thus far 9000 tickets, one person said it was because of Cena/Ortan which is one reason i won't go to Breaking point.
SD again the top brand of last week. Morrison/Rey what a great match they had, If Raw could only be like that week in and week out really it would have been nice. I agree with the other comments about Cena/HHH/Ortan etc. every week which is real boring, John Cena in my opinion has no flavour to his in ring performance, you see him every week doing the same dame thing. I am even amazed that Raw is sold out every week and not this new PPV.
Great blog ones again, and i wish lawler all the best of luck in his race to become Mayor.
