Jim Ross' Blog: OU-Cin (from OUInsider.com)

Editor's Note: Here's the first of Jim's weekly pre-game blogs. Jim Ross of course is a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, owner of J.R.’s Family BBQ, but a life long Sooner fan who has written three best selling books and has appeared weekly on national TV for over 25 years.

Random thoughts from under the black hat from your resident Sooner fanatic and BBQ aficionado (first obligatory mention of the day) who stayed until the end of last Saturday night’s assault from Mother Nature on Owen Field.Firstly, after a 57-2 victory over an obviously outmanned UTC squad, the one thing I feel compelled to say is that the UTC players never seemed to quit even when they knew their efforts were futile. There is something to be said for any team who doesn’t decide to phone it in after getting beat on like a government mule.

Random thoughts about the Cincinnati game this Saturday at 2:30 on ABC:
  • The point spread feels a little fat at -21 points. Would you settle for a 34-17 win?
  • A team with 9 returning defensive starters, including 2 All Americans that won 10 games a season ago isn’t being taken lightly.
  • Don’t expect to see the Sooners score repeatedly on short drives ala UTC because the Bearcats have the nation’s top punter returning who averaged 45 yds per kick. The field position battle will take on a significant different appearance this week.

JR i just read something on the internet that has majorily sort of made me worry- never have i thought wreslting would do tht however i read that there is talk of ending the Undertakers winning streak at Wrestlemania. I know this would be a way to put over a superstar and move on however i dont see why they would ruin it at this stage of his career unless he's planning on hanging up the boots. I read that the idea would be to have Ted Dibiase Jr with is father guidance do it however i do see that this would make him a star however they could do it like they did it with Orton and have him get beat at other PPVs however NOT WRESLTEMANIA. I think the ending of the streak should be something special for when he retires or something. I know you will say i have heard nothing of the sort etc but could you shed some light on the idea of ending the takers streak at his stage. And whether would you agree with it or not or do you really think it would happen. Please dont delete this JR and answer this msg. I am a huge Undertaker fan living here in Ireland btw and i tune into WWE programming every week and love your work. As if you care but i thot i wud say any ways. Thanks Jr and good luck.

JB I have noticed that you make comments about Charles Robinson, the referee who has been involved in some matches in the past. What do you think of Scott or Steve Armstrong who is now a referee on the Smackdown brand? He is the son of "The Bullett" Bob Armstrong, who has wrestled around the southeast for 40 years now. Bob is nearly 70 years of age and still wrestling.
