J.R.’s Favorite Music.. King’s Shirts.. Million Dollar Belt.. Ron Simmons.. Brett Favre.. J.R.’s Glasses.. Brian Christopher.. N

As Ben Grimm will say in the next FF4 movie… it’s clobbering time! Oh, and also time to address some more of your comments… Katherine- I listen to my friend Toby Keith’s music a great deal. I also like the classic country like Merle Haggard, George Jones, George Strait, Alabama, John Anderson and I love Hank, Jr. But still, the Eagles are “my band.” While still living in Connecticut, Mrs. J.R. and I had the incredible fortune to sit front row center for a 3+ hour Eagles concert at Foxwoods Casino that I will never forget. J.T.- King broke out two new shirts last week, as you indicated. I understand one shirt was a gift from his one of his sons, while the other was purchased in one of his frequent trips to a mall. The King also occasionally wears some of the Rock’s beautiful silk, high dollar shirts that The Great One gave him. Philip- Mark Yeaton works at ringside during the events as a timekeeper, and works full time in event operations. Plus years ago, Mark used to referee. BD- What does J.R. “mean to the higher up’s” in the WWE? I’m not sure what you are looking for with this question, but I obviously mean enough at this time to still be sitting at ringside for the company’s top TV show, episode # 730 this week, and the WWE just inducted me into the WWE Hall of Fame, so I would assume I mean something. That’s a question someone else will have to answer. I have zero issues on how things are going on my behalf, and I hope to continue to work with the WWE for years to come. I assure you that if the company did not want me around, I would not be employed there, bottom line. Trust me on that one. Plus, you can’t believe what you read sometimes about me being imminently replaced or that I will be turned out to pasture when my current contract expires, etc. No one who reports this B.S. has interviewed me nor anyone else in a decision making position in the WWE, I would strongly suspect, but are simply relying on “sources say” and the word of “insiders” who want to feel important by making assumptions and getting themselves quoted on some website. We all know what happens when we assume…. we make an ass out of u and me. I am very happy with my career and what I am doing these days. I still love going to work and when the fun ceases… I will tag out. Andy- the Million Dollar Belt is owned by the WWE and I would strongly suggest it is locked in a safe place. If the WWE ever builds a Hall of Fame, and I think they will, I would assume this belt would be one of hundreds of really cool items on display. Martijn- Again I reiterate, Paul Burchill seems to be a “keeper.” I like his chances to make it in the WWE over the long haul. However, Johnny Depp he ain’t. Put the Pirate garb away. Burchill is a tough, aggressive wrestler who just needs time to improve his fundamental skills. William Regal is talented enough to hold any title in the WWE. Perhaps some day soon he will, and I would not be shocked. Scott- Would Ron Simmons make a good manager, you asked? “DAMN!” I don’t see why not. Mike- I think we return to Green Bay, perhaps in September, but you might find out by calling the arena and also checking with wwe.com. I am also happy my man Brett Favre is coming back to QB the Pack. Brett was a big time Freebird fan back in the Mid South Wrestling days, as he has told me on many occasions back in the day when we were both in Atlanta. Favre is a first ballot Hall of Famer who has a linebacker’s mentality. I love the guy. Marilyn- Should the WWE “give up” on women’s matches? Not in my opinion, and for the record, you just caused my pal, TV’s “Uncle Jerry” The King Lawler to faint. The Divas do sell more sizzle than steak… no pun intended… but also add to the show in the opinion of most. Obviously not you, but most. Chris- Why does J.R. sometimes wear glasses and at other times not? The answer is that I don’t need my glasses to read or to watch the monitor, but only for distance. However, the WWE prefers that I wear them when appearing on camera, which works fine for me. However, if you ever see me driving without them, get off the road! Bill- Brian Christopher is wrestling in the Memphis area and for other indy promotions. Who knows, he may hook back up with Scotty Too Hotty in the future, as they were a good tag team. Chilla- I came to the WWE in 1993. However, I did voice-over some matches after I arrived there in ‘93 that were taped prior to my arrival, including the Ric Flair vs. The Undertaker match, which was held in 1992. So that’s why you heard me call a match that occurred before my Wrestlemania 9 debut. Joe- I will have to try your establishment in Monaca, PA one of these days when we are in Pittsburgh. I am glad to hear that you see Shane Douglas occasionally, and that he is well. Shane was a really bright kid when I first met him, but I have lost contact with him since he left the WWE years ago. “The Franchise” was a great persona and I personally wish that Shane had a better tenure in the WWE back in the 90’s. The nest time you see him, wish him well for me and keep making those good ribs! I have been having a great time working with THQ on the next WWE video game which is going to feature many “twists and turns” and ample surprises for all you gamers out there. This one is undoubtedly the best video game THQ and the WWE has done yet! I’ll have another blog in a few days, since I am just getting back from doing TV and have some J.R.’s Bar-B-Q business to tend to. It’s been raining a lot here lately, but as soon as they finish up the details on the outside and get our new 50’ sign up, we’ll get some pictures posted for you all to see. Don’t forget to check out WWE Shopzone on WWE.com for international shipping of my sauces and jerky. They will ship all over the world, so if you’ve been salivating to try some, this is the best way to get it fast! Hey J.R. There used to be an advert for WWF attitude, quite a few years back of course. There was two versions, one was a funny one and the other a bit more serious. Both ended in Vince saying something like "Attitude, you get it?" Do you know if these still exist? I would love to get to see them again. If you don't have a clue what i'm talking about then it's ok. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Charles.

Well Mr. Ross, I finally get to tell you how much I believe you make the WWE product far superior to any and all new comers. I have watched since the first episode of raw and I have to say, it was ok from time to time, but you made it worth watching. I love the WWE so don't get me wrong..... I just want you to know that out of all the superstars today, I would rather sit down and talk with you about your life stories and anything else I would be able to pick your brain on. I could probably type for an hour and not properly explain my love for your abilities, but I would not want to scare you off! LOL. Keep up the great job Sir, and maybe some day I can atleast shake your hand..... Paul H.

I love reading this blog, wish I had found your website earlier. I'm amazed at how much writing you do on this site! It's really cool that you take all this time to answer people's questions. I can't imagine that anyone else as famous as you spends half as much time interacting with fans like this. I spent a couple hours looking the some of the archives... it really is entertaining to read about all these stories we'd never know otherwise, and your opinions on certain topics. My question is this - what do you think about the McMahons wrestling talent? Do you think the ability to put on a good match just comes naturally to some people? While none of them have the moveset of someone like Benoit, they've always had physical, entertaining matches. Shane vs Test, Shane vs Angle, and Vince vs Hogan were especially good. Even Stephanie had a couple of good fights against Trish. It just seems odd to me that some people wrestle for years, eventually make it to the WWE, but then still occasionally have boring matches or poorly executed moves in the ring... but somehow Vince, Shane, and even Stephanie are immune to that.

Hey JR! Will Jeff Hardy ever be pushed to hold a major title? (WWE, World heavyweight, even ECW champ) Isn't he way over due to hold such a title? How true are the rumors of a horsemen reunion? Hope to see you back in the philippines!

First of all I want to worship you for everything you've done in this business, and I will go on to say that it's a great thing to know people like us can actualy get on here type a brief question, and know that Jim Ross himself will reply to our questions. Thats the next best thing to an autograph haha. Now for my question. Do you miss the Rock? I know I do. Not saying anything bad about WWE TV, just saying The Rock was one of a kind and I really miss his trash talking and wrestling talent on RAW. Has there been any talk of a possible one time match return for Rock or anything of that nature? And can we expect to see someone try the "comedy trash talking" role like the Rock played in the future? On a side note, I watched the Flair/HHH match on RAW in South Carolina...the night they did the celebration for Flair? I never heard you after Raw went off the air, did you stick around out there and watch? Flair is god!

Hey J.R. Greetings from Northeast Oklahoma! I was wondering when Crockett bought Watt's UWF, at Starcade 87 they had a TV title unification match between Terry Taylor & Nikita Koloff. My question is.. why didn't they also have unification matches for the tag titles & maybe Dr. Death vs Ronnie Garvin (or hopefully the would have put the belt back on Flair) in a Universal vs World Title match? I really think Flair vs Williams could have drawn money. Did Crockett want to stick it to Watts and show that his talent was better by burying the UWF stars. Also... does Dr. Death still have the UWF belt?

just answering a comment above, the raw song is "want to be loved" by papa roach.

Hey JR. I was at RAW/SNME this past monday and i managed to get my sign on TV during Shanes promo (kinda.. im in the top left corner, i can see my sign but not what it says lol) and the crowd there was sooo ridiculously loud (same with the pyro) and it seems IMO that everytime the WWE comes to Toronto not only is it one of the most electric, loudest crowds, but its one of the most pro-heel crowds around. Would you agree? And how do you like being in Toronto both during RAW (or a PPV) and after/before when you have time to "explore" the city.

Hey JR. Im curious? What was up with Kane and the imposter Kane a few months back? What was that all about? Also, can I buy your Beef Jerky here in Canada? And finally, do you ever watch or keep up with the Canadian Football League? All the best.........

Greetings JR, Random thought that occured to me and I'm curious as to your opinion on it... What do you think of a returning Scott Hall coming in as Razor Ramone to manage Carlito? Obviously that'd be dependent on Hall overcoming his personal demons, but I can see that being a hilarious team-up... especially if Hall refers to himself as Razor and refuses to acknowledge having any connection to Scott Hall. Anyway, I miss watching WWE programming because cable TV didn't make the budget. Keep up the good work! ~Brian C

Hey J.R. What's the biggest contract (of money) you have ever given out and who was it to?

J.R. I was mistaken. Apparently WWE.com posted your interview with Mick Foley back in March and it can be seen here: http://www.wwe.com/inside/mickfoley/ I remember when you first mentioned it, I was excited to see it, but it was never featured anywhere prominently, nor was it on your profile or Mick Foley's profile. Now it seems Mick's profile has been removed entirely, as I was lucky enough to accidentally find the interview obscurely placed where it is. It was a great interview and offered even greater insight into that time span than the book did. This is ideal to me, seeing two great wrestling minds talking openly about the business, especially something so interesting that happened recently. Mick was very open and it was very fascinating. I wasn't aware of some of the stories about Ric Flair, and Mick going into greater detail his relationship with Melina really offered some clarity not present in the book. He was right about the Melina angle as it ended the night after Summerslam being very well executed, he was right about the ECW team at One Night Stand pulling off a great performance, and he was right about Ric Flair being a legendary figure in today's environment. Unfortunately, their stars didn't continue to shine after their respective stories ended. I can see why Mick is frustrated as he deserves some good faith, but I can also see where Vince is reluctant to give anyone 100% freedom and pass their ideas without change. Great interview, J.R. That honestly was one of the coolest wrestling related things I will likely see all year. If you know any more information about Mick's current projects or if he will still be promoting the book, I'd love to see him out here in Portland, Oregon. Thanks, J.R.

Hey JR. I was wondering what your opinions are of the mixed reactions Cena gets at certain venues? Do you think that some people might be upset that their favorite star isn't being pushed for the strap? Or do you think it's because people don't know what to think of John? I appreciate any answers and please tell the King and John that I said hi and wish them good fortune. Best wishes for you and your family, Michael E.

J.R. I was mistaken. Your interview with Mick Foley can be found here: http://www.wwe.com/inside/mickfoley/ I remember when you first mentioned it, I was looking forward to seeing them and checked your profile and Mick's but never found it. It seems now that Mick's profile has been entirely removed and I found these clips by accident, as apparently they've been available since March.

I don't remember if you were in WCW yet (the whole NWA/Crockett/WCW timeline still confuses me), but I was wondering why there was no announcing team calling the Great American Bash from 1988? I'm guessing maybe it was a logistics issue since it was in a football stadium?

I wanna get your ideas on how the upcoming tribrand draft effects certain superstars. More specifically those who are currently out due to injury. Since stars like Triple H, HBK, Hardcore Holly, King Booker, and the Undertaker are out of the picture, do you think they will be drafted to other brands or left where they are for now? Also, do you forsee any superstars being handed a pink slip. You are an awesome commentator. I was in attendance at the Raw in Nashville on April 30th. I made sure to record it so that I could hear your commentary to the matches when I got home.

"This stinks Ross, it stinks" - Jesse Ventura This is my 20th question and still i havent ever had one answered. Ross, Would you think Minneapolis would be in the running for the home of the WWE Hall of Fame? wes st cloud, mn

Hey there JR. Just wanted you to know that my 2 sons and I are looking forward to Monday Night RAW from the St. Petersburg Times Forum in Tampa, FL. How would my boys and I go about getting your and King's autograph? Thanks JR. You are the man.

Hey JR, just wondering what you can tell me about the original Cuban Assassin? I know his son wrestles under the same name as well, any opinions of him or chances of him wrestling in the WWE? I grew up in New Brunswick, Canada, and remember watching him wrestle as a young lad every Saturday afternoon for Atlantic Grand Prix on our cable station. He was a great heel and I liked him so much I named my band after him. Also, any idea who owns the Atlantic Grand Prix library? Is it the WWE or possibly the Dupree family? I would love to get my hands on some of that footage. You can check our band out at www.myspace.com/cubanassassins if you're at all interested. Brent

When bbq'ing ribs, do you prefer pork or beef?

Norman Smiley + WWE = Best show on the Earth

"but I obviously mean enough at this time to still be sitting at ringside for the company’s top TV show" Why is Raw branded as the A show and Smackdown as the B, in your oppinion??

In lieu of your imminent response to the "Cena Hate Club" I must say, when we look back on this era 10 years from now, John Cena will go down as one of the most underrated wrestlers of all time. He gets even less credit than Bret Hart did during his title reigns. The fans always seem to turn on the champion, and the addition of "cool heels" have blurred the lines for whom we should and should not cheer. Cena should be observed as someone that can have a great match with anyone, and always has something new in his repertoire.

Hey J.R, I wondered what you would think if WWE put out a dvd of the "Best of the Eddie Guerrero and Mysterio Fued"? I personanally think it would be an awesome buy but just wanted to get your opinion on it ?

I attended the house show in Cape Girardeau, MO on May 19th and I must say I witnessed one of the greatest instances of sincerity by a wwe wrestler. As I was leaving the show, I saw a blue mustang that was leaving the show, stop, and a man get out of the car. This man walked over to a mentally challenged individual in a wheel chair and spoke a few words of encouragement to the young fellow. As I got closer, I noticed that this man from the mustang was none other than Trevor Murdoch. JR, It was great to see one of your employees take the time out of his day to go over and speak to the young man in the wheelchair. I am sure that the young fellow now has a memory that will last a lifetime to him. This act of professionalism should be rewarded. JR, next time you see Trevor please tell him thanks for taking the time out of his day to greet the young man.

Hi JR! I hope you are doing well, Back in 1997 I remember that WWE had talent exchanges with other wrestling organizations like AAA in Mexico. I remember seeing Mil Mascaras and Latin Lover at the rumble that year. Does WWE have talent exchange agreements with AAA or New Japan? and Do you think that with all the injuries that the main superstars (Undertaker,Kennedy,HHH, HBK) are suffering we can see talent from other countries in RAW and SMACKDOWN? Take care my friend! BOOMER SOONER Victor W.

how come my blogs are never published... I think I raise some good points and questions that deserves some answers. thanks for the time...I think. Boomer Sooner...or Later

Hey J.R., I've just been notified of Wrestle Fan Fest 2007 here at San Francisco's Cow Palace on October 19-21. It looks to be a huge convention type event with many wrestlers, merchandise, and live matches all that weekend. Are you aware of this? And if so, do you plan to be there? It would be great to have you there. Thanks!!!

Hey J.R. Do you have any predictions for the draft in 2 weeks??

Mr Ross: Where Is Armando Estrada? Why is he no longer with Umaga? Will he be back? He seems to be great with promos and would be a perfect manager for wrestlers with poor mic skills. thanks Bill Collmer, New York

Do you remember WWF announcer Frank Chrzanowski? He used to announce Tuesday Titans and was a chemistry teacher at my high school before retiring.

Do you feel a 'Legacy of WCW' DVD will be produced? I really want to see some of the WCW programming booked by Vince Russo from 99/2000. This footage is HARD to come by when it comes to WWE's DVD libraries.

I have been reading on several websites that people are lobbying for Ric Flair to get one more world title run in the company. I seriously hope this comes to fruition. Also, how do you feel about Dallas Page coming in to possibly feud with Batista? I think it would make for an amazing match...

J.R. Do you know if WWE will be bringing any events to the brand new Wembley Stadium? Summerslam 1992 was great and I would love to see an event there int future.

hi jr this is a great blog i was wondering do the wwe have any plans to do a history of the intercontinental championship dvd somewhere down the line similar to the one done on the history of the wwe title dvd as there has been some great ic title matches down the years ie savage steamboat at wm3 bret hart vs mr perfect at summerslam 91 and michaels vs jannetty from monday night raw. i think if this dvd was to come out it would be a huge selleras there have been many great ic matches and fueds down the years which could be documented on a dvd of this kind.

HELLO MR. i dont think anyone has asked you yet but are you looking forward to wrestlemania in florida next year?i think wrestling outside gives a real edge to the event feels more special than normal,i remember being at summerslam 92 in wembley stadium and the L.O.D. riding harleys to the ring, amazing!and if it does rain it will be a great spectacle.

Gotta agree with the PPV point raised, there seems to be little build to matches anymore, lower card matches often thrown in at the last minute and we seem to get every ppv match repeated at the next ppv regardless of result. Now ppvs are tri-brand again it seems all the ppvs are just built purely around the upper card with no room for the mid to lower card matches…. for example there have been a few ppvs yet we still wait for Santino to have his PPV debut and he is the IC champion???? Finally I’m glad Edge is now on Smackdown because I was starting to loose count of the number of Edge vs Cena matches that we were being subjected too both on RAW and on PPV, yes they have great ring precence and chemistry but it was getting too much a bit like the ppvs a little too repetitive to warrant paying for a ppv especially when some months have two in quick sucession?

JR, You think the WWE will ever induct Ellis Bashara to the Hall ? He was my great uncle. Would love to see him in. Scott

For my vacation in July I plan to return to Oklahoma City and Tulsa, other than a new BBQ place in Norman can you suggest a few palces to visit?

Hey JR I love the blog! What is your opinion of Kevin Thorn?

hi jr, i was wondering what is the name of the main song on wwe raw? also who sings it, i love that song. going to attend smackdown here in san antonio next month, also getting ready for the nba finals

in response to your reply to marilyn about women's wrestling. you say that the majority of people are happy about the divas. frankly i have to say that you give a biased opinion because i doubt that you would say anything bad about wwe because you work for them. really all i've ever seen online are comments about how the women's wrestling just sucks. i've never seen a person happy about the women's wrestling.

Raw was good this week the eight man was great and RVD vs Orton was solid and i didnt mind the divas battle royal lol.I have a question who is your favorite wrestler to watch on each roster right now. Also how do you feel about the draft do you think its a good idea?

Hey there JR!! I LOVE THE BLOG!!! I was just wondering if you see any time in the future an Edge DVD coming out. The Rated R Superstar def. has lots of quality and memorable matches and moments! I think hes One of the Greats in the business and def. a top performer! I also believe that there is a spot waitin for him in the Hall Of fame Someday! What are your thoughts on that? thank u

Jr do you think that it is long over due for the Brisco Brother's to be inducted into the Hall of Fame? I think it is just calling their name. They would be a great addition into the Hall for 2008. -Tracey

JR, I've gotta agree with your comment on the Divas, while some aren't as good others in the ring there are some who have come a very long way: specifically Candice Michelle, Torrie Wilson, and Michelle McCool. I would be quite happy to see any of them walking to the ring being announced as "The Women's Champion". The thing sometimes with the Divas is, they occasionally get matches where they can't show all of what they can do in the ring: sometimes they've just been booked to do the job, and sometimes (like this past Monday) the constraints of the match simply doesn't allow them to show their full range of skills. But thumbs up to who-ever has been training Candice Torrie and Michelle.

I WANNA SAY you are my favorite announcer of all time..i may never get to say this anywhere else but i think youre right there with the gordon solies , lance russells, boyd pierces...i think youve passed them all...i grew up watching jerry lawler and he's always been my favorite...ask him how 'pops' is...you make wrestling every monday nite fun...we down south enjoy every match u call....

How do you feel about Diamond Dallas Page coming back for a Raw World Title run? I could see DDP and a heel Cena bang out some sick matches.

Please respond to my question on the name of IC champ Santonio Marella and if you think it was a nod and salute to the Great Gorilla Monsoon aka Gino Marella... Gorilla and his family at one time lived in my neighborhood in NJ and were great people...
