As Ben Grimm will say in the next FF4 movie… it’s clobbering time! Oh, and also time to address some more of your comments…
Katherine- I listen to my friend Toby Keith’s music a great deal. I also like the classic country like Merle Haggard, George Jones, George Strait, Alabama, John Anderson and I love Hank, Jr. But still, the Eagles are “my band.” While still living in Connecticut, Mrs. J.R. and I had the incredible fortune to sit front row center for a 3+ hour Eagles concert at Foxwoods Casino that I will never forget.
J.T.- King broke out two new shirts last week, as you indicated. I understand one shirt was a gift from his one of his sons, while the other was purchased in one of his frequent trips to a mall. The King also occasionally wears some of the Rock’s beautiful silk, high dollar shirts that The Great One gave him.
Philip- Mark Yeaton works at ringside during the events as a timekeeper, and works full time in event operations. Plus years ago, Mark used to referee.
BD- What does J.R. “mean to the higher up’s” in the WWE? I’m not sure what you are looking for with this question, but I obviously mean enough at this time to still be sitting at ringside for the company’s top TV show, episode # 730 this week, and the WWE just inducted me into the WWE Hall of Fame, so I would assume I mean something. That’s a question someone else will have to answer. I have zero issues on how things are going on my behalf, and I hope to continue to work with the WWE for years to come. I assure you that if the company did not want me around, I would not be employed there, bottom line. Trust me on that one. Plus, you can’t believe what you read sometimes about me being imminently replaced or that I will be turned out to pasture when my current contract expires, etc. No one who reports this B.S. has interviewed me nor anyone else in a decision making position in the WWE, I would strongly suspect, but are simply relying on “sources say” and the word of “insiders” who want to feel important by making assumptions and getting themselves quoted on some website. We all know what happens when we assume…. we make an ass out of u and me. I am very happy with my career and what I am doing these days. I still love going to work and when the fun ceases… I will tag out.
Andy- the Million Dollar Belt is owned by the WWE and I would strongly suggest it is locked in a safe place. If the WWE ever builds a Hall of Fame, and I think they will, I would assume this belt would be one of hundreds of really cool items on display.
Martijn- Again I reiterate, Paul Burchill seems to be a “keeper.” I like his chances to make it in the WWE over the long haul. However, Johnny Depp he ain’t. Put the Pirate garb away. Burchill is a tough, aggressive wrestler who just needs time to improve his fundamental skills. William Regal is talented enough to hold any title in the WWE. Perhaps some day soon he will, and I would not be shocked.
Scott- Would Ron Simmons make a good manager, you asked? “DAMN!” I don’t see why not.
Mike- I think we return to Green Bay, perhaps in September, but you might find out by calling the arena and also checking with wwe.com. I am also happy my man Brett Favre is coming back to QB the Pack. Brett was a big time Freebird fan back in the Mid South Wrestling days, as he has told me on many occasions back in the day when we were both in Atlanta. Favre is a first ballot Hall of Famer who has a linebacker’s mentality. I love the guy.
Marilyn- Should the WWE “give up” on women’s matches? Not in my opinion, and for the record, you just caused my pal, TV’s “Uncle Jerry” The King Lawler to faint. The Divas do sell more sizzle than steak… no pun intended… but also add to the show in the opinion of most. Obviously not you, but most.
Chris- Why does J.R. sometimes wear glasses and at other times not? The answer is that I don’t need my glasses to read or to watch the monitor, but only for distance. However, the WWE prefers that I wear them when appearing on camera, which works fine for me. However, if you ever see me driving without them, get off the road!
Bill- Brian Christopher is wrestling in the Memphis area and for other indy promotions. Who knows, he may hook back up with Scotty Too Hotty in the future, as they were a good tag team.
Chilla- I came to the WWE in 1993. However, I did voice-over some matches after I arrived there in ‘93 that were taped prior to my arrival, including the Ric Flair vs. The Undertaker match, which was held in 1992. So that’s why you heard me call a match that occurred before my Wrestlemania 9 debut.
Joe- I will have to try your establishment in Monaca, PA one of these days when we are in Pittsburgh. I am glad to hear that you see Shane Douglas occasionally, and that he is well. Shane was a really bright kid when I first met him, but I have lost contact with him since he left the WWE years ago. “The Franchise” was a great persona and I personally wish that Shane had a better tenure in the WWE back in the 90’s. The nest time you see him, wish him well for me and keep making those good ribs!
I have been having a great time working with THQ on the next WWE video game which is going to feature many “twists and turns” and ample surprises for all you gamers out there. This one is undoubtedly the best video game THQ and the WWE has done yet!
I’ll have another blog in a few days, since I am just getting back from doing TV and have some J.R.’s Bar-B-Q business to tend to. It’s been raining a lot here lately, but as soon as they finish up the details on the outside and get our new 50’ sign up, we’ll get some pictures posted for you all to see. Don’t forget to check out WWE Shopzone on WWE.com for international shipping of my sauces and jerky.
