J.R. to broadcast ECW this week..

Posted in:

Due to a family tragedy, I will sit in for Todd Grisham this week on the ECW broadcast to be taped Sunday night in Columbus, Ohio. I am looking forward to working w/ Matt Striker in Todd’s absence. Our prayers are with Todd and his family. Yours truly will also handle my regular duties on Smackdown with the world’s angriest announcer and my partner Tazz.

Monday I will fly to NYC and head to Stamford to work on a Starrcade feature for WWE 24/7.

I have also answered several of your questions in our Q&A section.

We live in busy times but I like staying busy as hard work never hurt anyone my late father told me MANY times.

Hello JR,

As others have already stated, I'll keep the Grisham family in my prayers.

That being said I just wanted to drop a note to say how much I enjoyed your work on ECW.  I always think you do a great job in helping "tell the story" to the home audience, but I couldn't help but notice a little more spring in your step during last nights broadcast.  You and Matt seemed to have a very genuine chemistry that really came across as fun and refreshing.  I could also note that Matt did indeed do his homework, and his drop-ins were great.  I look forward to more of his work.

Keep up the great work JR!

JR,

I was watching WWE's "Classics" program on MSG last week (9/17/08) and in a Lumberjack match from the early 80s (Backlund vs an aged Superstar Graham), the guest referee was Swede Hanson...I don't know much about this man, but he started mixing it up with "Superstar" after the match.  Can you tell me more about Mr. Hanson?

Thanks - love the site!

May the Lord by with Mr. Grisham and his family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Grisham family during their time of loss. How did you feel about Charlie Haas coming out dressed as you? Were you flattered by it or were you upset by it? I remember when WCW tried to spoof you, it was terrible. You are the man.

Matt, JR touched on "Good Ol' JH" Jim Haas earlier. In a nutshell, he appreciated the website plug and business has spiked since the plug on RAW. Mr. Ross also hints, perhaps tongue-in-cheek, that after seeing Haas' pillow belly, Mr. Ross might consider taking up a light diet =p

JR, please be sure to pass along my condolences to Mr. Grisham. I like his announcing on ECW on Tuesday nights, and hope he and his family are doing okay.

Hey JR, love your blog. I'm a huge WWE fan and one of my favorite wrestlers is the Undertaker. Also I love watching HBK, especially on Wrestlemania, where you are guaranteed that HBK will put on a show. My dream match for Wrestlemania would be an Undertaker Vs. HBK match. What is the chance of this match actually happening at WM 25. You should pitch the idea. After all, it is an anniversary and they need a BIG DRAW. What would be better!!!!!
