Last Friday’s debut of Smackdown on MyNetworkTV was a ratings success with over 3 million viewers. The challenge is to build on that number, but it can be done with stout broadcasts.
How mentally and physically tough are Chris Jericho and HBK? Damn tough. After Sunday’s Ladder Match, these two were deeply involved in Monday’s Raw. In the old Turner WCW, several stars would have been absent from Nitro the night after a physical PPV match.
I enjoyed Raw Monday night from my hotel room in Spokane.
Did Mike Adamle have “jet lag” Monday night? If so, it worked for the Raw GM, as he had more emotion and fire since being named head honcho on Raw.
Lilian Garcia and the Great Khali might be the next couple on “Dancing with the Stars.” What a prom picture.
Multiple announcers on Raw during the Jillian-Kelly match must have been a nightmare for the closed captioning person.
Speaking of tough, John Cena is another old school tough dude. Trust me on this one. I saw toughness and passion in Cena the first time I saw him, years before he made it to the WWE.
If you’re ever in Spokane, check out Spencer’s Steakhouse.
HHH-Jeff Hardy had a great wrestling bout at No Mercy...one of the I have had the privilege of calling in years. Both men came out of the match the better. Awesome counters and classic strategy.
My vote to oppose Santino Marella at Cyber Sunday is the Honky Tonk Man. The King’s estranged first cousin can still entertain and can hang with the reigning IC Champion.
HHH vs. The Big Show on Friday Night Smackdown should be a big time main event. What is GM Vickie Guerrero’s “relationship” with Show? Isn’t Vickie still married to Edge? Sounds like an episode of “As the World Turns.” Stay tuned.
What’s the over/under on how many times Tazz and yours truly will say “WWE Universe” on Friday night. Sound, strategic marketing slogan.
In a million years, I would have never predicted that the Big Show would have defeated The Undertaker via knockout at No Mercy. Retribution by the Deadman could be nasty if history means anything.
Looking forward, not really, to my 4 a.m. wakeup call Wednesday morning to head back to Oklahoma from scenic Spokane.

I hope you will take the time to catch my appearance on ESPN’s College Football Live at 3:30/2:30 Central time. My prediction on the upcoming OU-Texas game likely won’t be surprising, but my reasons might be.

I wonder how many of these wrestlers have taken some anabolic steroid in their life i know a lot of the kids i went to school with did.
Hey JR, I am so pumped for SmackDown VS Raw 2009 to come out. I can't wait!! I hope Goldust gets the Cyber Sunday match. I have to vote for Goldust when I get more phone credit, and I cant believe HHH hasn't lost the WWE title yet. He HAS to lose this time cause he's facing Big Show. On SVR 09, if you can change announcers shows for the roster editor, I'm changing you to SmackDown because I'm a BIG fan of SmackDown. Only 1 month till SmackDown VS Raw 2009 comes out! I am so psyched!!!
Bye!

Hey J.R.,
I was wondering if you could answer a quick question for me. Have you ever heard of Charles "Midget" Fischer? I've been a huge wrestling fan since I was 3 (now 26) and I have NEVER heard of him before. But apparently he was the man who invented the piledriver and was quite the celebrated wrestler in his day.
I first heard of him just recently as I discovered he's burried in a cemetery 5 miles from me. I had been there many times but I guess I never knew I was in the presence of such a legend. Who Knew?! lol
You can find a page about him if you go to Butternut Wisconsin's website. Here is the link -http://www.butternut.k12.wi.us/charles%20fischer/charlesfischer.html
Hey J.R., its been a long time since I've posted here, I hope all is good for you since then. Anyways, please give my best to Dr. Death, and let him know that I'm pulling for him. When I was a child, I had the opportunity to see him wrestle in person and I was truly in awe of him during his Varsity Clubs days, his Oklahoma Stampede was very impressive in live eyesight, I also saw him again later on when he was teaming with Terry Gordy and I thought that they were absolutley unbeatable. I appreciated his performances that I witnessed and he will always maintain a place in my childhood memories. Give all my best to him and his family and a rare opportunity from me to afford him a thank you. Thanks J.R.
Hey JR! I have a question that you may, or may not be able to answer about Cyber Sunday. Suppose there's a tie between Shawn Michaels and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in final voting, as the winners, what would we, as viewers, get in return between the two "winners" towards the World Heavyweight Championship match?
Everytime I hear the phrase "WWE Universe" it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, because it sounds like the company is attempting to establish it's own fictional universe.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of 'WWE Universe' either.
Hi JR.
I'm sure we would all love to see Honky at Cyber Sunday, but I'm not sure he has recovered from this incident back in July:

When I saw him in mid-September, he was working his first show since the guitar bashing occurred. His finger was still in a splint at this time, and thought it may require surgery.
Let's all wish him the best.
Haha I didn't even think about the closed captioning during the Kelly/Jillian match. Whoever it was typing must have quit. It was fun commentary though, for the most part, it's just that at a few times they just rambled. They could have taken a break or two in all those insults.
I really don't like how the WWE has the voting for Cyber Sunday though, they need to bring back the WWE.com voting... :/
The segment with Cryme Tyme and Miz and Morrison was not just a nightmare for the closed captioning people--it was a nightmare for all those who watched. 4 guys yelling over each other is not entertainment. It is annoying. Maybe the worst segment ever--and that doesn't even include the criticism that this was probably Kelly Kelly's best match and no announcer push whatsoever. I am not a fan of Kelly but her work showed promise last night and it was wasted by the nuisance of the four guys doing "commentary".
Between college and two jobs, it's almost impossible for me to catch Smackdown! as often as I like to. I mean, ever since I started watching RAW, there was Gool Ol` JR. So it's hard not to miss your commentary every time I get the chance to catch RAW. Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole do well, don't get me wrong. But they can't hold a candle to you.
You have to know that anybody who is a fan of the WWE, is a fan of you. As far as I am concerned, you are THE voice of the WWE. And I just wanted to say thanks for involving yourself with the fans as much as you do. It means a lot to us.

I was at both No Mercy and RAW. I hope that we, as a crowd, showed our appreciation at the WWE returning to the Pacific Northwest. Can't wait for February!
JR,
I'm going to be at the Smackdown taping tonight right here in Spokane! Glad to have you here! Tonight will be my first WWE show to see live in about 4 years and I can't wait. We've got nosebleed seats, but that's all good as long as I'm there to see the action. WWE puts on the best show out of anybody, anywhere!
Your my favorite announcer, JR, and I can't wait to cheer you on during your entrance tonight at the Arena. It's going be great.
Take care,
Matthew Gardner
