Start ShoppingHello from Norman, Oklahoma ... the home of J.R.'s Family BBQ and the Oklahoma Sooners. My upcoming weekend will be filled with OU football and WWE's Breaking Point in Montreal ... and of course a little old school, slow smoked BBQ. All great slices of Americana ... except the Quebec part which is French, of course.
Congrats to the Fink for doing a Hall of Fame job Monday night working with TV legend Bob Barker. No one has done more wearing a sequined jacket since Michael Jackson's glory days than Howard Finkel did on Raw. It was good to hear Howard's voice again on WWE TV. more »
Good to be home here in Norman where the Sooners open their home season Saturday night against Idaho State and needing to get a "W." We're gonna be selling lots of "Q" at J.R.'s Family BBQ and I'm looking to see many of our guests there before I'm up at 4 a.m. Sunday morning to make my 6 a.m. flight from OKC to Chicago and then connecting to Montreal. Saturday night will be a "set two alarms" type of night.
We have been selling lots of Original and Hot BBQ Sauce, our awesome Chipolte Ketchup and Beef Jerky here online. My thanks to those who are shopping with us and I hope we can get more of you to place orders.
Let's roll with some hickory smoked, BBQ'ed Random Thoughts. more »
Here's hoping that everyone has a great Labor Day weekend and that my Sooners, without the best tight end in college football Jermaine Gresham, can win in Jerry's house in Dallas this Saturday night against BYU. I'll be roaming the sideline wearing my signature, black hat so keep an eye out on the ESPN Prime Time Broadcast. The BBQ'ed Random thoughts are ready to serve..... more »
Wham Bam trip to Cleveland and back to record this week's WWE Superstars bout for Thursday's WGN America and Friday Night Smackdown that will air on MyNetworkTV. These 3:30 a.m. wake up calls coming off the heals of a taping day become more and more challenging. Nonetheless it's time to kickoff these proceedings..... more »
Not much going on this weekend which is a nice change of pace and the calm before the storm so to speak. Next week is the kickoff of college football season and "business definitely will pick up" until bowl season.
Business at J.R.'S Family BBQ has been good and our in store sales of sauces and ketchup has grown tremendously. We still hope to meet with various grocery store reps in the next few weeks to be able to put our products on their shelves.
I also some day would like to place our products in the WWE Niagara Falls complex but that is still a work in progress but would give them the exclusive for Canada on J.R.'s Sauces and Beef Jerky.
We do have some exciting things happening with our Beef Jerky distribution locally in Oklahoma and to be honest because we are such a small, home grown outfit, that's about all we can handle right now other than out growing website business.
We will be launching some new specials here on the site in a few days after the success of our last promotion. We are still in the learning phase of running a website sales operation and with a staff of three, including yours truly who is on the road a portion of every week, we are learning more each week on how to best ship our products as all major shipping entities are seemingly changing their rules on a weekly basis.
Nonetheless, your business is what keeps us alive here on this site and to those of you who shop and order with us we want to say thanks for the support. Here's a few, BBQ'ed Random Thoughts.... more »
I hope that every one is having a great weekend. It's a beautiful day here in Norman, Oklahoma as I prepare to travel to Cleveland late Monday afternoon to be a part of the Tuesday night festivities in "The King's" 2nd favorite city. Without further ado..... more »
Our sale ends Friday night at midnight central time so don't be "burning any daylight" when it comes to making a decision to place your order. The 6 Pak Powerslam and the Beef Jerky package have been running rampant. We have learned a great deal on this sale and will implement some positive changes when we do our next major promotion.
Lots of ground to cover so let's fire up the smoker and get busy.... more »
Thanks for dropping by and checking out our site. I will try and get caught up in the next few days over in the Q&A Section of the site. Our huge SALE here in the on line store ENDS FRIDAY. Shipping outside the USA is a nightmare but we will continue to look for viable alternatives but thus far we have not been successful. For those that live in the USA, these "deals" are terrific and I hope that you will take advantage of them before the promotion ends.
It's good to be home here in Norman, Oklahoma. Football season is literally upon us and definitely in the air as I hope to watch a Sooner practice or two before I have to leave again next week. The Mrs and I will be front and center in Dallas for the season opener between OU and BYU which will be held in the new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas on September 5. The next week it gets a little dicey as I have to fly on Sunday morning from OKC to Montreal for Breaking Point on September 13. That one might be a photo finish getting there but I have zero plans on missing the Oklahoma game the evening prior to the PPV. If I don't make it, perhaps Georges St. Pierre can sit in for me. (GSP is arguably the best MMA fighter in the world in my humble opinion.) Breaking Point, with all the submission bouts that will be featured, is an innovative and intriguing concept that has my interest. Broadcasting submission bouts takes on a different slant than a regular, catch as catch can, pro wrestling bout.
Just so you will know, this afternoon I enjoyed a piping hot, baked potato at JR's Family BBQ loaded with smoked turkey and topped with chives and JR's Original BBQ Sauce with a side of home made green beans. Sorta makes me hungry....again....how about you? Let's roll with a few random thoughts. more »
