Happy Holidays to all! Here are some random thoughts....
Here are some Holiday wishes and random thoughts:
That Kris Humphries will live down, in his lifetime, his 72 day marriage to Kim Kardashian. However, NBA road games won't be kind to the new divorcee. Starcrossed marriages have about as much chance of surviving as 'wrestling marriages' generally do. Humphries will have 'Iron Sheik heat' on road games for Nets but will never be lonely at team hotels.
For the NCAA to have more consistency with their penalty enforcement and update their manual to reflect today's marketplace especially when it comes to more realistic stipends for players. NCAA so understaffed that their organization has become a sham/joke.
That fans get a chance to enjoy the new, Stone Cold DVD especially young, wannabe wrestlers or those who 'think' that they want to be a pro wrestler some day. I'd suggest doing a written quiz on certain WWE DVDs to developmental classes including Austin's latest and ....
That everyone can enjoy something within their profession as much as I did being a small part of the Rivalries: Bret vs. Shawn DVD.
That there's not a cloud in the sky for Wrestlemania 28 outdoors in Miami on April 1. 2012. My wife and I will be there even if I'm not a part of the PPV. It's our Super Bowl week.
That Brodus Clay will someday make an impactful debut in WWE.
For James 'Kamala' Harris to have a better 2012 than 2011 as it relates to "Sugar Bear's" health. 'Kamala' was an amazing villain back in the day when there actually were wrestlers who fans feared.
That every man and woman returning home from serving our country has the greatest holiday season ever and for them to know that their contributions can never be repaid or thanked enough by those of us who enjoy our freedoms.
The return of viable, tag team wrestling on the global stage. It would be new to many younger fans, it would provide fresh, TV programming, and, as we have seen many times in the past, it facilitates the 'spinning out' of new individual stars especially if the teams are truly established and not thrown together.
For a day to go by when I don't get asked when the Undertaker will return to WWE. As I have said before, I feel that Taker will be a major part of WM28 defending the Streak. The Streak is a HUGE part of Wrestlemania and, arguably, as big as any element of the event. So, 1. I do not know when Taker will return or 2. who he will face on 4/1/12 in Miami. What is it about those two statements that folks don't understand?
I'd love to see my football Sooners end their year with their 10th win in the Insight Bowl that I am anxious to attend. I still find it embarrassing that some OU fans are in a frenzy that Oklahoma was 'only' 9-3 during the regular season. Some of these Boomer Sooner fans are more knee jerk than the many die hard, got too much free time, internet wrestling fans.
That the WWE announces who will be in the 2012 WWE HOF class soon so that folks will stop asking even though the list will invariably be scrutinized and second guessed.
1/2/12 vignettes. I don't know who they are for. If I did, would it be wise of me to spoil the surprise?
I'm grateful for over 300,000 folks who follow me on Twitter @JRsBBQ even though we've received very little promotion on TV for it. I admit that sometimes I get a little carried away interacting with fans on Twitter but I assure you that I do not drink and Tweet.....any more.
I'll also be happy for the day when fans stop asking me what is my favorite all time match. I honestly don't have one. I've called thousands of bouts over the years and SO many that were amazing for me to put a lyric to the music the talents were making. I promise all that care or ask, if I could name an all time favorite match that I would.
I'd love to see Jerry Lawler be able to wrestle more on WWE TV. Performing with Jerry would help so many younger talents as I felt King's work in 2011 with Miz was extremely helpful for Miz. If King were told tomorrow that he would no long broadcast Raw but would instead be used in the ring, he would love it. (Same goes for Booker T wrestling younger talents.)
I'd love to see a change in the BCS system whereby the National Title would be decided on the field and not be so dependent on a computer keyboard or by coaches who vote for teams that they rarely see play.
More BCS...I feel badly for teams like Boise State, Arkansas, and Kansas State for not getting BCS bowl games when it was obvious that they all earned the opportunities.
I hope that many deserving kids and those that are kids at heart get the WWE12 video game for a holiday gift. The folks at THQ did an amazing job with this project of which is going to benefit so many of us.
That Daniel Bryan gets plenty of positive, TV time and a legit opportunity to show all involved what the hard working veteran can do from bell to bell. Personally, I find any 'size arguments' regarding the new, World Champion to be near sighted and outdated. Plus, Bryan being verbally thrashed for being a vegan or a 'hypocrite' for cashing in the MITB contract earlier than WM28 has run its course. The consumers will determine if Bryan is a hit or a miss.
I wish I could personally thank everyone who made the holiday shopping season so successful for our family brand of products that we market with WWEShop.com. Our line of products is a tribute to my late Mom, who was my biggest fan, and her homemade BBQ Sauce. We don't sell 'gimmicks' but do distribute great tasting condiments and Beef Jerky.
I'd love to have an answer for folks about buying our products in stores such as Wal Mart, etc in 2012. Obviously we would love to do so but the process is expensive and somewhat political. I assure you that if we can mass market our products in stores that we will.
I'd love to have a WWE produced, JR's DVD but there are so many more deserving talents that should be in line long before me. Using some of my calls from WWE/Crockett/WCW/Watts/Smoky Mountain would be great. BTW the WWE doesn't own the Watts library.
If I knew more about the WWE Network I would share that info. I don't know where it will be available including Canada, UK, etc. I don't know the programming ideas that are firm or that are simply being discussed. I'm not aware of the costs involved or if it will be available via satellite IE DirectTV. Furthermore, I'd guess that many within WWE who are working on this major project don't know the answers to all your questions either as things are evolving seemingly by the minute. All I can say is be patient and stay tuned. The WWE Network can certainly be of huge impact and a game changer.
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the week. We'll be back soon.
