Lethal Lesnar-Carwin Confrontation Nears..JR's BBQ Sauces Available at NWA Legends Fanfest...JBL @ World Cup..Terry Funk

There's lots going on and it's late as I write this with a huge day coming up Thursday and onto Vegas for Lesnar-Carwin. Here's some Random Thoughts...

This Saturday night's UFC PPV headlined by Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin for the undisputed UFC Heavyweight Championship is one of the most eagerly anticipated events that's been on my sport's calendar since the Sooners beat Stanford in the lovely Sun bowl in equally lovely El Paso.

Lesnar-Carwin has been and will continue to be analyzed to death right up until match time Saturday night. The bottom line, as Steve Austin has said more than once, of the  epic clash of monster athletes perhaps is as simple as this:

The first fighter to land a righteous, right hand may win it.

Could it be that simple? Yep.

Many questions have arisen regarding this contest. Will Brock's alleged octagon rust be an issue? Is Carwin's ballyhooed and impressive undefeated record with no man surviving over four minutes an ominous omen for Lesnar? Should a Division 1 Wrestling National Champion (Lesnar) be able to handle a Division 2 Wrestling National Champion (Carwin)? Will 'stand up defense' be the key to the fight? Will the fight go five rounds? What will become of the loser of this fight...will he get a rematch with the winner or will the 'victim' have to reload?

I still feel that this will be Brock Lesnar's most challenging fight in his short but spectacular MMA career. Carwin is, like Lesnar, an athletic freak of nature with a great, amateur wrestling background who can knock any human out with one clean shot.

Lesnar's 51 weeks outside the Octagon largely because of diverticulitis is a concern for many Lesnar fans such as myself. For a normal athlete, fighting another world class athlete like Shane Carwin in one's first fight back from the unwanted sabbatical would seem illogical.

However, and trust me when I say, Brock Lesnar is no 'normal' athlete. Brock Lesnar 'needs' to compete at the highest level and that's exactly what he will experience Saturday night in Las Vegas in this must see confrontation that I still feel the UFC Heavyweight Champion will win.

It's Slobber-Knocker time in Las Vegas!

We'll have some signed bottles of J.R.'s BBQ Sauce in Charlotte at the NWA Legends Fanfest promoted on by Greg Price. I'm doing a special 'cook out' on Thursday night August 5 at the event. Hopefully, you can attend and pick up some Original and Hot BBQ Sauce that we will have signed. Should be a fun, casual time to kick things off and I look forward to meeting and visiting with many, long time fans.

BTW....our new and improved (been dying to use that cliché) HOT J.R.'s BBQ Sauce is selling like crazy and getting great reviews from our customers. Give it a shot.

Got an email today from my pal JBL who was in South Africa attending the World Cup and handling some business. After leaving South Africa, the talented Texan will head to Bermuda for some R&R. Now that's good work if one can get it. John prepared wisely for life after the wrestling road and I hope that his former peers are paying attention.

Happy Birthday to Terry Funk who was 66 years young Wednesday. Combining all phases of the game, I don't think I can name any wrestler who had a more natural skill set than the former NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Terry was able to reinvent himself on multiple occasions to extend his career in a significant way better than anyone I can name.

Useless trivia note...my friend Mike Dillard's company in OKC makes all the gloves for UFC fighters. I need to secure a pair the size that Carwin and/or Lesnar wear. Just curious.

Talked OU football until the wee hours last night...it's amazing that one can engage in viable 'football talk' here in Norman any day of the week the year round. The Sooners 2011 recruiting class is close to being done and the class looks stout especially with offensive and defensive tackles. Of course, all the verbal commitments now are non binding and I wish that the omnipotent NCAA would allow kids to sign earlier than February of 2011.

Tommy Tuberville, new , head football coach at Texas Tech, finally got the media to react to something 'Red Raider' other than the lawsuit of former Tech football coach Mike Leach vs. the university when Tuberville said that he did not think that the new Big 12, with 10 teams...go figure, would survive as it has been re-configured. Will Tuberville, who coached the Rock at 'The U,' still be in Lubbock when this matter is again addressed in earnest by the TV people who hold most of the face cards.

NXT note...there's something about Husky Harris that I like and it might be that he has a much different 'look' than do many of the NXT youngsters who all seem to be 6'2" and 240 or so pounds. If Husky ('husky' is the size pants I wore as a kid) can display charisma like his Grandpa, Blackjack Mulligan, the young athlete will do well in the family biz.

We've got another voice over session, my third this week, Thursday for the new, THQ video game, WWE All Stars. The people that I've spoken with that have seen a demo of the game, Rock vs. Cena was used as the example, have spoken highly of it. The roster of legends and of current WWE talents is impressive and allows one to be able to create some amazing match ups and tag teams. The THQ producers are allowing me to have some fun with the commentary and I just hope that many of my wrestling friends have a good sense of humor.

We appreciate everyone's business and want to be your source for sauce plus the best ketchup on earth. Plus, our J.R.'s Beef Jerky sales are soaring as folks enjoy the 97% Fat Free snack. Plenty of iBeef Jerky will travel with me to Vegas.

Thanks for the visit and if you're a website who's going to use some of our content please be kind enough to provide a link back to our site. Help a brother out....

Hari, NO I meant Jason Powell's prowrestling.net. JR confrmed it himself. What do you not understand?

Sir,

In respone to the comment posted by Adam Tide on Thu, 07/01/2010 - 2:39am, I think they might have been some confusion on his side about the name of the wrestling site that does a good job on posting the links to your blog.

Adam might have/could've entered the wrong site address as it cannot have been Pro Wrestling.Net as no one does any justice to the straight down truth and admiration the folks at Pro Wrestling Insider - http://www.pwinsider.com/ have for you and your work. That's old school fans speaking.

I don't work or own any part of PWI, nor do I know them personally, but hands down they're probably the one that were being referred to. Just my two cents, Sir and I'm not trying to get any mention for any site on your behalf apart from stating a possible confusion on Adam's side.

Still engorging on the Jerky which is now become a major part of my eating habits. I need to move onto the sauces esp the HOT BBQ one ASAP.

As always, thank you for the responses and the interesting blogs - great things some of us look forward to each time.

Regards and wishes,

Hari

So do you know which one is true WWE and multiply sites are saying that Ricky Steamboat only has neck/shoulder pains while Wrestling Observer is reporting he had a brain aneurism

The Observer is generally on the money and they are here as well.

I just heard about Ricky Steamboat having a sudden brain aneurism.  My heart goes out to his family, I hope he's able to recover from it.  I'm also hoping like so many others that what happened monday had nothing to do with it.

Our family concurs.

I am a Lesnar fan myself, and Brock can lay down a mean ass whoopin. However, I don't know if he is tough enough to take what Carwin is going to give to him. He hasn't faced a fighter of Carwin's caliber yet. I expect it will be a good fight though. Two big heavyweights...they will have to buy another octagon.

Prowrestling.net always does a good job of linking to your site.

Pro Wrestling.Net is a really solid site that does a nice job when using our material. They are the exception to the rule by and large in their world. I agree, they are fair to this site.

Hi, another great article. I also think Brock will win but I want to see Carwin win becasue I think he can get more if he wins rather than what Brock can get if he wins. Also, I don't know if you answered my question in the Q&A because I can't find it. You know how I can find it easily?

All questions don't make the cut for a variety of reasons and are deleted. It depends on the subject matter and sometimes length of the email. The longer the more likely that they are to be deleted.
