Monday Layover in DFW Thoughts

Posted in:

Got a lay over waiting on my plane from Dallas to OKC. Quiet weekend in our online store. Hopefully biz picks up there. Lots of grilling time left for most plus use our priducts as gift ideas. FREE SHIPPING in USA.

Over the past few days here are some of the questions I've received either on Twitter @JRsBBQ or here on the site. Some (many) are classics as in "you want to know what??"

One person wanted to know how much I was paid by WWE. Would that be pre or post tax , sir?

Another asked if I was being paid for going to Tampa or was doing it for the "love of the business?" I did it for the love of the money although it was  good trip.

Another asked when I was returning to WWE. I haven't left...I'm an 18 year, WWE employee...I'm simply not on WWE, weekly TV any longer and for those that ask this question daily, there are NO plans for me to return to WWE, weekly TV. I play the position I'm penciled in and do it to the best of my ability. I  am a consultant/advisor for Talent Relations.

If WWE brought 100 people in to tryout 'maybe' 5-10 would get a more extensive look. Why some fans seemingly believe that this number or % should be higher honestly surprises me.

Yes...the WWE/FCW charges a fee for the twice a year tryout camp which is simply good business and dissudes MANY from attending who want or can pay for a fantasy camp exprience. These camps are physical and challenging and are not for fans w/ disposable income and who have zero chance in getting a smell of a FWC locker room. Use your money nd go to Disney World.

The tryout camp wasn't for teams and no teams, that I saw, were there in Tampa. We did watch tag bouts and drills w/ the prospects involved.

I have not read this yeaar's PWI 500 nor do I choose to name my own list as these sorts of things are too subjective. How can anyone be totally right or totally wrong?

The FCW staff and members of the WWE talent relations staff all have a 'vote' so to speak as to who will be offered deals. I discuss my picks w/ no one. I simply email them to the home office and let the chips faall where they may.

Dusty Rhodes loved his NWA Fanfest experience and told me that I would as well. I'm pumped about arriving in Charlotte on Thursday while I depart on Saturday morning.

Uh, yes the WWE is making a concerted effort to get younger which will in turn help them prep for the future. Unlike golf, a 'Senior's Tour' won't get in done week in and week out in pro wrestling. Fans have and will always continue to want to see new stars. That fact hasn't changed since I arrived in my first locker room in 1974.

If a prospect has  great mic skills and a body "like a twig" their chances of making WWE are slim and none and Ol Slim just left town.

No I am not looking at building a JR's BBQ in Russia. Seriously comrade.

We hope that you visit our store and place an order today. I'll mcatch up on some Q&A's asap.

Two quick points. First of all I think everyone agrees that Jerry Manual  is the greatest manager in the history of baseball, what he is done with my mets is nothing short of amazin. Secondly when it turns out that Tony Schivone ends up being revealed the mystery GM of Raw it will be the greatest night in the history of pro wrestling. Thank you

Hi Jim!!  Nice to hear you enjoyed your trip to FCW this weekend.  Its good to see someone like you back in Talent relations.  , Hopefully, this will Hssure the right people get in.  That's why I'm responding here.  My friend, Ken Theissen, is 6'1" 240 amazing shape (as is seen in his training page link I included).  he is the real deal, has won three NAGA grappling tournaments, and mma fights and is a tremendous athlete.  Of course he pro wrestles..  was even with Deep South, but that place was a wreck so it didnt work out.  He was seen recently, but it seems The "youth" movement destroyes any hope he gets in...  even though his clean lifestyle make him look years younger than he is (40)..  Please take a look at some of his videos, pix here that demonstrate this ability..  yes, it is rare to say the least..  he spars and trains with top guys. I think the youth movement also hurts wwe because if you look closely at ratings you will see...  www.myspace.com/kentheissentraining

18-34 demographic is a FULL point below the 18- 49 year old demographic..  That shows that 34- 49 age group is the HIGHEST group for WWE programming.  Lots of guys they got today look like they could moonlight selling yogurt at the mall concessions, lol... What happen to guys that actually look believeable?  I guess that is another movement?  the metro boys movement : )  Excuse the rant, Jim.  Be well...  Best to you and your family.
