We also want to thank you for your continued business in our on line store that is still offering FREE SHIPPING on many great packages including our custom made, 97% FAT FREE, J.R.'s Original Beef Jerky. We are also still doing solid biz with our two BBQ Sauces and the Chipolte Ketchup which is really becoming popular. This Friday we have our meeting with the good folks at Homeland Groceries based in OKC and we hope to get some positive news on that front of getting our products in 4 stores in Norman, Oklahoma to test market.
I'm trying to stay as busy as I can to keep my mind off of other challenges which seem to be prevalent.
Today's MRI results were not what we had expected and we have more work to do. More tests resume tomorrow morning as the bumps in the road continue. I still remain confident that all these health issues will work out in due time. The road just got a little bumpier, or so it seems, for now, but that's when people roll up their sleeves and fight just a little harder.
It seems that my neurologist and the radiologist who read my MRI of my brain have differing opinions. So we start over to some degree Tuesday and in more intense detail to determine the answers we need to have to move forward.
People keep asking me when I'm returning to work and there is no accurate answer to that particular question.
Again, and I stress, that it isn't a matter of IF but WHEN I will return to broadcasting.
Thanks for everyone's support and tomorrow's a new day that I can't wait to attack.
The judging at Saturday night's UFC fight in the main event was suspect but it's nothing new to combat sports. I am a HUGE UFC fan and I even had some emailers on this site hit me that they thought that UFC "fixed the fight" which is insanity. No way. No how. I wasn't a big fan of the main event of Machida vs. Rua to start with but they beat they hell out of each other in somewhat of a slower paced, stand up affair. Based on many, many other UFC main events that I have bought and enjoyed this one was average. Just like in pro wrestling, the challenge of promoting a viable PPV card with hot main events each month is daunting for any promotion.
I'm not sure that any company can promote a never ending succession of viable PPV's in MMA or pro wrestling on a monthly basis TFN. Perhaps they can and my hats off for trying but the task is not easy and requires tremendous, long term planning, and a commitment to "new." Fans want to see new stars compete and see where they can take their game but it takes a gutsy and committed promoter to pull the trigger on providing "new" stars the opportunity to carry the ball.
Have you noticed that sports officiating in general is taking a spanking more days than not? I think we can thank TV and the multiple angles and technical advantages that the TV people have over the human element and naked eye of a trained official. I officiated over 20 years but I was never in an environment to be scrutinized like the officials are today. I think that game officials generally do a solid job but college officiating may, arguably, be the exception. SEC fans might agree with that one. I remain steadfast that if any viable news entity ever did an investigative report on how college officials got their jobs as in nepotism, business contracts, etc, that many sports fans would be shocked.
Brock Lesnar has had to cancel his UFC next fight until early in 2010 due to flu issues as I understand it. Lesnar is a man's man and UFC should obviously give him all the time he needs to get 100% healthy as Brock is MMA's "bell cow" and should not even think about fighting until he is ready.
Happy to see my friend, Heisman Trophy winner, Sam Bradford decide to use Dr. James Andrews to repair Sam's throwing shoulder. Sam has surgery this Wednesday and we spent a few minutes visiting on the Sooner sideline on Saturday afternoon in Lawrence, Kansas while the Sooners took care of the Jayhawks. Sam wanted to come back to OU and live his dream this year of winning a National Title for his childhood, favorite team but he was dealt a non favorable hand. Sam Bradford is a great kid and will likely go to a NFL team who now already has a starting QB that will allow the Sooner to develop at a steady pace and get a little bigger and stronger. I told him that he needed to hit J.R.'s BBQ in Norman more often and that we would help "bulk him up."
Tomorrow is going to be a great day and all your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
God Bless....and Boomer Sooner!
J.R.

Dear J.R....
I and my family were so saddened to hear of you health poblems, that you are going through at this time. Your health and recovery are the most important thing, but I want to tell you that The WWE is not the same without you. We already miss you not being with King on Raw, and now...we don't have you on Smackdown either !!! But, as I said...the most imporant thing is your recovery, and return to health.
We will continue to get updates from your cousin-in-law, Nann on your progress. You know who I am, and my prayers, and the prayers of my family: wife Janet, daughter Mary Beth, son-in-law Rob, and our friend Bernie (a big Teddy Long fan)...go out to you J.R. and to your lovely wife, Jan. Take care my friend, and get well soon !!
God Bless You Always !!!
Dan Lohr (Pittsburgh)
J.R.,
Friday nights are not the same with out you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you so you can get back to Smackdown real soon.
Boomer Sooner!
-Clara-
J.R, glad you are starting to come around back to your old self. With the Announcement today in NYC that Hulk Hogan has signed on today full time with TNA Wrestling, and that Eric Bischoff along with his company Bischoff Hervey Entertainment have signed on to develop and shop new TNA programming to all networks, do you feel that now they can compete with the WWE?
Now that TNA President Dixie Carter, who owns TNA, can now step up and finally be real competition? Also seeing these changes coming to fruition, would you yourself consider once your contract elapses to join the company in some capacity, be in front or behind the scenes, knowing the events that are now taking place?
Hang in there, JR - we're all pulling for you!
J.R. -- I just know that anything you're battling now can't beat you in the long run. You're too strong, and you're a Sooner for cryin' out loud. I hope to see you back in your saddle in no time.
PS... I just graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute in Dallas, TX, and was shocked at how little they taught us about Bar B Q. I'd love to come up to Norman and get a little J.R.'s education.
Get well soon!

Mr. Ross, I have been a fan of yours for more years than either of us care to remember. I am sorry to hear about the mixed news on your results. You certainly are in my prayers and will continue to be there until this thing is finally under control for you. Always remember that God only puts in our way the obstacles that He gives us the strength to overcome.
From your early days in the business, I have been a fan of your honest, down to earth style that makes every fan feel like a real part of the broadcast. Good luck, best wishes and prayers for your quick recovery and continued success.
JR,
You have been in my thoughts and prayers since I read about your condition. I have always loved listening to you calling matches and miss hearing your Boomer Sooner voice on Smackdown (though I liked you more on Raw).
I'm sorry you didn't get the news you wanted yesterday, hopefully you will get better results today. I admit I'm not overly fond of BBQ (forgive me) but my dad LOVED your recipe for the mashed potato topped meat loaf from the WWE cookbook.
Please keep us all posted on your condition and I hope you'll be back on the road and Smackdown soon.
JK
JR Hang in thier man U get through this. u are in my prayers for U and your family. U are the man. Be brave and strong. Health first and get back to be the best play by play WWE ever had . Give Bellspalsy and good goverment whooping .
Stay Strong JR
Best of success, JR. I know the challenges, having just completed my cancer treatments. Hang in there!
I agree with what I'm reading here: your returning to do the call isn't as important as your regaining your health.
If my opinion mattered on any of this, I'd prefer your transitioning to announcer training/booking "doctor" than to hurt yourself trying to come back (if its not otherwise in the cards.)
Best of luck with the new tests; hope they come out better...
jr....
so very sorry to hear about your new 'challenges' ~~i know from first hand experiences what the conflicting info can do to your 'psychie', but you have such a healthy attitude that i'm sure you will continue to rise above! remember that you'll never be given more than you can handle---a day at a time!
may the higher power of your understanding continue to bless you and yours!
xoxo

You worry about your health first, JR! Althought we miss you much, it will do you no good to come back early and hurt you more. Love and Blessings to you and your family.
Hang in there JR. I have MS and deal with MRI's every 6 months. You have the best attitude and keep that up as the mental process is a huge part of getting well. Great win for OUr Sooners on Saturday and you have the KSU game to keep your mind on. More wins, watching the OL grow up, seeing the young Millers run and catch and of course WWE will keep you busy while you let your body heal itself! Be well JR.
Boomer Sooner!!!!!
jr you are the man and you should definitly go to raw when you come back i have stoped watching wwe all togather along with like 50 diffent people cause you aint on raw so come back with the king well good luck with everything get healthy and then when you come back to work go to Raw again
My thoughts and prayers are with you JR! PS- I ordered the 6 pack powerslam, and as always I love the sauces! I do miss the jalapeno honey mustard tho, and did the chipotle ketchup change?
Be strong JR, that's all I can say. The legions of BBQ-Maniacs will help you through.
Tony ,UK
hope you get well soon JR, smackdown won't be the same without your voice while your gone
all the best
Dan
Get well soon JR. Thoughts and prayers you way. I have always enjoyed your work. Take care and get well soon.
Matt&Kath
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, JR... We miss you on Smackdown... You have been an inspiration to my uncle who has also battled bouts of Bell's Palsey and he wanted me to let you know that he will be praying for you as well. Stay positive and know that all us fans are wishing you a speedy recovery! God Bless you and your family!
JR,
My family and I are praying for you. Get well soon as we can't wait to see you again on TV.
Michael Cowen
JR,
Prayers will continue. I am especially praying for accurate tests. Experience has taught me it's the proper thing to pray for. We (my wife & I, our family or God & I/us) can deal with what comes--just let us have the truth. And may I ask you for some prayers---I'm having cardiac tests on Friday--stress test (injection, not treadmill) with lots of dye and lots of pictures and an echo-cardiogram. Pretty routine stuff, except I've never had the injection induced stress before--always did the treadmill in the past. Again--praying for accurate tests. Take good care, and I'll look forward to hearing your progress. Our daughter, Becca, is a big fan of yours--she has both of your cookbooks! She'll be praying as well. God Bless you and yours, and may he grant wisdom and insight to your docs.
dave
Just wanted to pass on Prayers and well wishes for you and your family. Heres hoping for a fast recovery.

I was out of commission too, sort of like JR, but now I'm back!
Even though the idea of a feud between the top 2 WWE TV shows is inherently silly, congrats to JR's own Smackdown for the great swerve and the great win. How great was it to see Chris Jericho holding that trophy high?
I knew Orton could perform at that high level that we witnessed last night. I had no idea that Cena could match him. I actually gained a little respect back for Cena, all of which had disappeared this year with the multiple interviews boasting of his pushing the PG rated programming into effect. But taking a monitor to the head, to get juice hardway like that? Awesome. Orton still should have won though.
Good luck JR!!!
JR:
Just got finished watching Raw. It was good. I love seeing Kofi develope, and think he's got a big future.
Hope you are feeling better. I've had reoccurring health problems, too, particularly with my eyes, as I am legally blind.
I understand what you're going through, but anyone who has hung around wrestling as much as you MUST be tough.
You'll get through it. And, among SOME of the best, Bobby Hennan, Monsoon, and McMahon, you are THE best wrestling announcer ever. Your voice, wisdom, and timing brings matches to life, and add to the spectical, suspending our disbelief even further. You take us into your world, and make us see it through your eyes.
I can, thank goodness, see my television. But, as a man who depends on his ears to sometimes tell him what's going on, you have helped me enjoy wrestling even more, and for that I thank you.
I'm praying for you, and look forward to seeing and HEARING you on my TV again. God bless, and best of luck.
Tony
Hey JR!
I'm sorry today didn't bring you the answers you were expecting or hoped for. I have every faith though that if anyone can beat this thing it's you. You stand up attitude in all things can't help but serve as you give this this illness the tush kicking it deserves!
You'll continue to be in prayers. Hang in there and we'll look forward to hearing back on the "A" show Smackdown real soon!
Hugs
Maggie Mae in Denver
Good luck and get well soon Jim.

Thanks, JR. I entered a raffle for your hat to benefit Dr. Death a few months ago because I know he's a close friend of yours, and many others, that could use some help.
Now to my benefit, I'm ordering the 6 pack and looking forward to finally trying your sauces, as well to repay that selflessness you've shown and offer some small amount of gratitude for the site and the inspiration that you offer.
God Speed in getting well J.R. You're an inspiration to us all!
JR,
Don't know if you ever received my invitation to eat some BBQ here in Columbia, SC-however perhaps next time. I was sorry to hear of your recent illness-I pray for your quick recovery.....feel better, God Bless.
-Wagdaddy
