NEW Blog, Firing, Legend Roundtables, New JR's Products Coming to WWEShop, Q&A's Anwsered, Order JR's Today!

It's been a hectic and crazy but good week. Happy I had no airplane travel this week with Monday Night Raw coming from OKC. Lots of ground to cover here today so let's kick this thing off.

After an embarrassing Monday night firing on live TV with no advance notice, it took me a day or two to rebound but I'm good to go as I write this blog. As the King says, "One can't grieve forever" and I won't I assure you.

WWE upper management made the call to remove me from weekly TV and that is their choice. It's the WWE's team and I simply am playing on it. Being a team guy, I run the plays that are sent in whether they make sense or not. Like my Dad taught me, if you accept a man's money then do the work that the man wants. When one can't handle the work or the silliness any longer, stop taking the cash and stay home and do something else. I'm not ready to leave the team that I helped build especially considering the vulnerable state the company was in when I took over Talent Relations.

Plus, the three man announce booth is not overly efficient, in my personal opinion, and I, apparently, did not fit into the mix based on decisions that were made Monday.

Hopefully, I will have a role in the WWE Network in the future but time will tell. Nothing is guaranteed nor has any one spoken to me about it although I do feel the WWE Network will be an exciting project on which to work. TBD.

I'll be in Stamford next week recording two. Legends Roundtable shows for WWE On Demand. One show will address many of the rogues, outlaws, mavericks, etc that have dotted the pro wrestling landscape over the years. Men and women who were strong, independent thinkers and who,  at times, were major a pain in the ass for promoters.

The second topic is scheduled to be the impact that athletes and celebrities from outside the world of wrestling have played in the business. The celeb card has been played for decades including guys like Joe Louis and Rocky Marciano being special referees. I've tried to forget Jay Leno 'wrestling' once upon a time but I will have plenty to say about that hideous idea.

Panelists thus far include Dallas Page, Michael Hayes, and me. Mean Gene Okerlund is the host and one more panelist is being finalized as we speak.

I'm headed to Lawrence, Kansas for the OU-KU game Saturday. Being relieved of my post on Raw allows me to not miss any OU football games. Not a terrible trade off.

Q&A's addressed....

Memories of Geno Hernandez? Gifted, natural charisma and timing, had 'it' but loved to party and abuse drugs and alcohol apparently more than he loved his job. LIke many wrestlers of his generation, Geno did not have the self discipline or structure to avoid the pathetic pitfalls of self destruction that many wrestlers blame on the business while not looking in the mirror.

Undertaker vs. Mark Henry at WM28? How in the hell would I know? Personally, I doubt it. But I do see Taker back for WM28 without question. He text me Saturday while I was at the Cotton Bowl and reluctantly complimented my Sooners but wasn't so crazy about my OU shirt.

Will WWE hire Samoa Joe some day? 1. I don't know as I'm not in that loop which should be obvious by some of the signees in recent years. 2. How does anyone know Joe wants to come to WWE?  Personally, I like Joe's work and his unique look which means he likely won't be signed. Just saying...but you need to ask John Laurinaitis as he seems to be the genius of the week.

Why did Jim Crockett sell NWA/JCP promotion? Cash flow problems, softer economy, bad creative planning, and general mismanagement. Urinating on the UWF was just plain stupid business in my less than humble opinion.

Have I watched the Memphis heat DVD? Yes, just this week and it was awesome. Highly recommend any real fan get their hands on this unique look at the Memphis Wrestling Territory. I loved this DVD and you can learn more about it at www.Memphis-Heat.com

How do I become a wrestler? Short answer...get sound training...work the indies...get a tape to WWE and try and earn a tryout w/ WWE. Visit FCW in Tampa. Bottom line, be in awesome, athletic shape, be fundamentally sound and understand that making it is a huge, long shot.

Thoughts on UFC's Frankie Edgar? Badass...getting better & better...big time star who should be able to headline & sell PPVs which is the name of the MMA game. Impressive.

Is Brock Lesnar going to return to WWE and wrestle? In my opinion, not any time soon but he is in the WWE12 video game which means that he makes more money off his WWE reputation just as he has done in UFC. Good deal for Lesnar. If Brock comes back to WWE it will likely be for a one time deal after his MMA days have ended as he doesn't like travel or the overall mentality of the wrestling locker room or so it seems based on what Brock's said. Plus, his 'controversial remarks' directed at Undertaker and Steve Austin merely create awareness and is good marketing. Too many fans take these types of comments as gospel.

Am I interested in returning to TV and being a part of a three man booth on Smackdown? Not at this time. Can't see that changing either. Announcers don't need me to contribute to their bickering and lack of focus as it relates to in ring situations and not embellishing the talents who will hopefully some day sell tickets.

Sucks to see you go. Particularly since you were never really given a chance. The 3 man booths were awful. Everybody was trying to talk over each other and rarely was there a clear dialogue going on.

I know Lawler is well-liked but he adds nothing. The booth should either be Cole (lead broadcaster) with Booker or you (lead, straight man) with Cole (full on heel).

Cole's persona can be entertaining but his instistence on being the lead announcer AND a character has seriously ruined the broadcast. Hope to see you back soon. Maybe thanks to Mrs. Foley's baby boy?

 JR....

I appreciate the plug you gave Memphis Heat.....I grew up in the Mid-South with Lance Russell, Jackie Fargo and The King Jerry Lawler-when he wrestled most every night in the Mid-South territory.  Memphis Heat documents what people from that area has known about Jerry Jarrett and Memphis Wrestling:

Before anybody did anything......Memphis did EVERYTHING!...They had the stars, the angles, the booking...all original ideas that have carried over to new generations, new fans and new "writers".

Memphis Heat also documents how Sputnik Monroe was the original SCSA...a real life badass, who wasn't afraid of anyone or anything and drew huge gates along with shooter, Billy Wicks-who was the Arkansas version of Danny Hodge... a legit tough guy who could really hurt you if he wanted to.

I will put Memphis Heat on the level of a WWE production as far as entertainment and information value....the only thing it was missing was an interview & input from one Jim Cornette.

-Sorry you got fired....glad it was only Kayfabed!

-Go Hogs!

JR -

I wonder if WWE management was still happy with their decision to fire you on-air after they got the news that the ratings tanked after you were canned.  I've got to say that I admire your loyalty; I don't know if I could put up with half the BS you've put up with through the years.  I sure hope somebody in WWE management is able to grow some brain cells and puts you back on TV soon.  Take care.

I think you are good at what you do. And i hope you can come back. And God bless you

JR U are the voice of this wrestling genration of Fans.  Vince and the WWE likes making a total ass of you for the last 15 years. Having to kiss the bosses the ass on live TV to Having your head shoved up your ass when u were being operated for cancer. U are a team player I respect that. I think that u need to walk out with your diginty and say I quit in Kabfabe. Gordon Sollie would have never let WWE or Vince McMachon make fun of him. JR  u are the dean of the WWE for the last 15 years.  Gordon Sollie= Dean of Wrestling/ Jim Ross= Dean of the WWF/WWE
