thank you for all your work in the wrestling industry jr!
i was wondering how you feel about the independent circut these days. it seems so much harder to even get started in the wrestling business nowadays, im only 20 so all ive ever know is really the WWE, WCW and TNA, i wish i could have been around back in the day with all the terriotorries around the country. it must have been exciting knowing that wrestlers could go anywhere at any time.
do you think bringing back a system like that would benifit or hurt the business now?
Dear Jim Ross, First off, thanks for opening this blog, your committment and outreach to wrestling fans is awesome man. My question concerns why Jeff hardy is a nominee for the slammy, 'superstar of the year' category whereas Shawn Michaels isn't. Yes, Jeff has battled with his own personal problems to make a comeback this past year (which although is totally commendable) ; Shawn on the other hand has been battling countless injuries including his eye injury, badly spraining his tricep 2 months ago on RAW, old knee problems, bruising his ribs at wrestlemania AFTER RETIRING RIC FLAIR, and lets not forget the on going danger of re-injuring his back with minimum time off. To quote Vince in an recent interview, said that the HBK vs Y2J ladder match was the best he had ever seen. To quote even yourself from recent blogs, "HBK is arguably still the best all-around, in-ring performer currently active in the business today" and, "HBK earns big money, works a schedule that he is ok with and is still the best big match wrestler in the biz". Acknowledging that i'm a long time Shawn fan i obviously have a strong personal bias, what do you think of this comparison? Thanks again Jim!
Dear J.R.,
What is your current take on how the overall state of the WWE is right now? I for one have noticed it getting into deliberate patterns where matches are starting to become academic and extremely predictable. Is there something currently being done to fix this? What does creative have up their sleeves in the "Rated PG" era?
Hey JR, is there not a question youve never answered on your site, ill ask this and hopefully its never been asked...whats your favorite action/comedy/romantic/sports movie?
JR,
I enjoy watching some of the older tapes of the late NWA early WCW days(some stuff is painful to watch I know, but it wasn't all bad). What's your fondest memory of that era. Kee up the good work, you are the golden standard of commentary.
