One More Thing... Feedback Needed for Proposed Book Idea

Posted in:

Another thing that I would like feedback on is this.....IF I decided to take a selection of some of the blogs, there have been tons of them since we started this site, and the most unique Q&A's we have received and answered, would there be a market for them in paperback book form sold exclusively on this site and in J.R.'s Family BBQ in Norman?   more »

Monday Thoughts or an Editorial of Sorts.

I'm getting ready to head to Dayton, Ohio for the Smackdown taping Tuesday night. I've planned to get their early enough to catch Raw on TV. This is a very important week for WWE TV's as these will be the final shows prior to this Sunday's Judgment Day in Chicago. more »

Taker-HBK Best ‘Mania Bout Ever? J.R.’s Wrestlemania 25 Memories.

Posted in:

Wrestlemania 25 has come and gone and it will provide me with positive memories for years. I plan on being around for a few more Mania’s but I never take one for granted. Here are a few random thoughts....

My 16th Wrestlemania experience was highlighted by the best WM bout I can recall broadcasting. The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels bout was simply a classic. Old school approach, a magnificent story, amazing near falls, drama, surprises, intensity, and awesome athleticism were just a few of the memorable attributes of this extraordinary contest. Quite simply, it’s a wrestling match I’ll never forget and I’ve seen plenty of them. I had immense personal respect for both men going into the match but that respect swelled ten fold when this “instant classic” concluded. If any young wrestler doesn’t thoroughly study this one then they are doing themselves a gross injustice. more »

Greetings from the snowy confines of Connecticut..

I watched Raw Monday night from my room in the Mohegan Sun. Here are my thoughts.

Several elements of the show were especially enjoyable to me.

Firstly for the crowd to be as big and as involved was impressive considering how inclement the weather was and fans could have stayed home and watched the show on cable for free. more »

Traveling the Northwest with Tazz... No Way Out & Raw Thoughts...

Posted in:

Tazz and I have been on quite the tour of the Pacific Northwest. Our car trip would make a great reality TV show but with our conversations the show would need to air on premium cable. Our weekly food review is that the Seattle Airport Marriott is excellent, 13 Coins Restaurant in Seattle near the airport is awesome, and our traditional lunch stop on our Monday travel day was a hit. We stopped on I-5 about 60 miles north of Portland at a place called the 49'er Cafe.

As I write this we are a few hours from the ever challenging doubleheader Smackdown taping in the Rose Garden. 22 segments of TV all pointed toward WM25. An announcer's nightmare is to try and properly process all the info presented them and to not phone it in. I've always enjoyed challenges and broadcasting 2 SD's in one night is more daunting than calling a Wrestlemania. more »

Smackdown Surprises... McMahon Banged Up... "The Wrestler."... WGN

Sitting in LaGuardia anxious to get back to the friendly confines of Oklahoma and 77 degree weather.

Tazz & I worked late into the nite Wednesday working on Friday Night Smackdown. Looks like a solid final broadcast prior Sunday's Royal Rumble on PPV. more »

Random Thoughts from Stamford...

Posted in:

I’m in Stamford, CT for two days of work before heading back to Norman on Thursday. Then it’s on to Detroit for what should be a stout Royal Rumble PPV at “The Joe.”

I enjoyed Raw Monday night. Really fun show to watch. My favorite aspects of the shows were all “talking segments” which this old schooler usually doesn’t say. more »

J.R.'s Armageddon Thoughts..

Posted in:

Armageddon was a fun wrestling show of which to be a part. Selfishly, I wish Tazz and I could have stayed busier. Sitting for 2 hours and then having to “turn it on” for the main event is challenging. Nonetheless, we had a great ringside seat for a show that came off better than many expected.

With a 3 week build and nestled between the Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble (6 weeks away), many fans weren’t expecting how well this event actually delivered.

Buffalo was hospitable and the crowd seemed to do their share. more »

Observations from Monday Night Raw...

Posted in:

Here are my observations of Monday Night Raw from seemingly docile Providence, R.I.

Stephanie McMahon will be a significant upgrade over former GM Mike Adamle. Good move for Raw.

Love the team of Miz and Morrison in an otherwise lackluster tag team scene. These 2 young talents have significant upsides. more »

J.R. Talks Survivor Series..

Posted in:

Greetings from chilly Stamford. The World's Angriest Announcer" dropped me off here around 3 a.m. Monday morning after our drive from Boston.

The PPV was solid with a fair amount of parity. Several bouts were good with nothing over the top, from my perspective.

The surprising return of Edge and the latest Jeff Hardy saga seemed to be the most discussed matters on the show. more »
