Post Extreme Rules Thoughts

First of all, cut a man some slack if I misspell some words as I wasn't class valedictorian & I'm doing this blog on my Blackberry. I know, "buy a laptop dummy." Here's my thoughts.....
I get back to my hotel & there's no room service & no air conditioning. Poor me.
Good to be back in Mid South country.
JYD is still spoke of fondly here.
Seemed like, biased opinion, Smackdown had the 2 best bouts of the nite. The IC Title match and the Ladder match. Duh.
Lots of sore, bruised men after the show. Trainers & Doctors seemed to be busy. My hats off to those that worked their asses off.
Strap match was in a tough spot & strap matches are challenging to begin with. Both Punk & Umaga worked hard in a tough spot.
Kofi Kingston is going to be a star especially as he gets more mic time & makes the most of it.
William Regal has great aggression.
Happy I wasn't involved in the Hog Pen business. Whew. Once (Hershey, PA) is enough. It smelled like I was at a FFA function. That would be Future Farmers of America.
I'm happy for Tommy Dreamer. Hard work & passion for his craft should pay off. Congrats Tommy!
Submission bouts w/ a giant are big hills to climb. Cena-Show was about what I expected and I thought, for what it was, that each guy did great.
I liked the length of the cage match & was happy that there was no outside interference. Another match that takes a physical toll on the participants. Better them than me.
Rey vs Jericho was excellent. Two highly skilled, SD talents who help make Friday nights fun. I could watch these two men wrestle every night.
Edge vs Jeff was the match of the night. The bar has been raised so high on these types of bouts that I don't know what some hardcore fans expect but on a personal level, I loved this one. The risks these guys took were amazing and uncomfortable to witness so up close.
The Punk cashing in on the Money in the Bank contract completely surprised me. Some will like it, some might not but it certainly had fans I spoke with talking. Where all this goes has my interest. I'm happy it will be on Friday nights.
Apparently SD will have the main event slot on Superstars this week, again, as we record it after Raw Monday night as it now stands. So it will be a drive to Lafayette, as scheduled, and then another drive to Biloxi Monday nite late. Grisham is a fine "wheel man."
BTW we've already sold several CASES of our Original Sauce on line offering FREE shipping to selected areas. Thanks!
After Sunday nite, this is going to be an especially unpredictable week for WWE TV.
All I can say is "stay tuned."
Lakers in 6?
Stanley Cup over?
Favre to Vikes by late Sept? He didn't have shoulder surgery to improve his riding lawn mower techniques.
While many of the WWE's finest are currently on Burbon Street, I'll stay here in my room & consider sleeping in the tub. At least it's cool.
Thanks for your business and for those of you that watched another WWE PPV.
Be well...Boomer Sooner!

Hey JR
I Read that wwe have sent out a new job advertismenet for basically a new Lilian Garcia (Anthem singer and ring announcer)
Is she leaving the WWE?
Love your site
Scott
I was at Extreme Rules and as a fan that has only been to one house show in Baton Rouge this was the most thrilling thing I have ever been to. My 6 year old was in awe to see his heros especially Jeff winning. But his happiness was quickly deflated as soon as Punk's music hit. He knew what was coming and cried his heart out when Punk won. Poor thing. What a exciting event. Hopefully more PPV's, Smackdown taping and Raw will make return visits to New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Looks like the Lafayette peeps got a treat Monday night. I can not wait to watch the DVD. Jericho walked right past us as he was walking down the stairs. Wonderful work.

Hey JR, been a long time since I made any comments here. Good show overall yesterday. I just heard Batista might be hurt again. Shame there, Batista's one of my favorites, but he seems to be getting these muscle tears a lot. I'd hate to see him go but I'm beginning to wonder if maybe it's getting time to find something new to do. Hopefully he can prove me wrong though.
PLEASE tell me they're not taking Reys mask away again. Didn't they learn from WCWs mistake? He's just not as good without it.
Grats to Punk, sort of, He was in the right for using the case, of course, but against a fellow fan favorite it was a pretty cheap shot.
The slop match was predictably bad, I like Vickie but she has no business being inside the ring and Marella is getting boring. I'm beginning to wonder if he's even capable of doing a serious match. Nothing wrong with good laughs but there's only so much one can do on the sideshow.
Other thoughts: Legacy, Rhodes & DiBiase need to start doing something besides being Ortons bodyguards. LOVE the new Hart Dynasty! I see major things for them. I want to see Big Show & Khali in the ring together again. They'll have to make a special ring just for them. I was reading an article awhile ago about Jerry Lawler and the fact that in all his time with the WWE he's never actually stepped in the ring at WrestleMania. Major shame in that, The King is one of the all-time great legends, as far as I'm concerned right up there with Hogan and Flair, he is also the one who got me first interested in wrestling, but even at his WWE height, his feud with the Hitman, I never got the feeling the company took him seriously in the ring.
Thanks for the listen, and your BBQ sauce, it's good stuff!
A lot of very hardcore 'blind face supporters' as I like to call them were extremely upset about CM Punk's win. I loved it. Being one of the internet's 'smart marks' I could see the slight heelish actions of Punk, celebrating with his new found gold in just a bit of an excessive fashion over a broken and battered Jeff Hardy.
Logically there is nothing wrong with what Punk did, he simply made the most of his opportunity, whether it be against a fan favourite or a heel. Regardless of that, Punk is now public enemy #1 in the eyes of many loyal Hardy followers and I hope that fact is not ignored.
Furthermore, if this blossoms into a feud between the 'hardcore straight-edge' Punk versus the plucky, sometimes 'troubled' Hardy, it has the potential to rile up a lot of people who simply hate that Punk is promoting his chosen lifestyle over that of his adversary's past choices. This is highly advanced, grey-area stuff when it compares to the classic heel vs babyface feuds we're used to, and I hope it is explored as much as possible.
Great show last night,
Justin, Toronto
Not only was Extreme Rules an incredible and very memorable event, but I honestly think that the commentary eminating from the Smackdown! table stood out as exceptional. You and Mr. Grisham are beginning to really click; you two sound natural, professional, and experienced. If I may be presumptuous, it seems like Todd hs learned a lot from you. Keep up the Hall-Of-Fame caliber work, J.R.!
Couldn't help but feel that Punk cashing in MITB was a very 'heelish' thing to do, especially when it was against an underdog with such crowd support as Jeff Hardy. For a guy whose character is all about loving fair competition, isn't Punk acting like a weasal of sorts?
Didn't like the Cage match at all; felt it was way too short and giving Batista the Title seems like such a step backward for Raw. Not to mention it kills any heat and credibility that Randy Orton has had lately. And Dave's injured, so why put the belt on him? Shock value?
Hi JR, Smackdown! certainly showed up Raw big time. The Ladder Match was great. In my opinion Jeff Hardy is sort of similar to HBK in that his matches are always the one you'll remember, I'll be sad to see him go. I wasn't impressed with the Steel Cage match. It was too short and it contradicted itself - Orton tried to escape from the very start and when he had his chance he passed on it.
The Hog Pen match was terrible, the only good thing to come from it was the divorce, it should have happened a long time ago
