Restaurant Opens in June.. Glamorous Life of a WWE Traveler.. Milan, Here We Come.. Too Early for the HOF?.. Hot Toddy.. Origins

Hi everyone, I hope all are well and enjoying life. Things are busy here in Oklahoma as we continue to work on opening J.R.’s Family Bar-B-Q Restaurant, which looks like it will be ready to open in June. It is amazing what kind of team effort it takes to get something like a restaurant up and running, as we want our first location to be as good as it possibly can be. This is a great learning experience for me and I am fortunate that we are surrounded by highly competent folks who do this sort of thing for a living and are nice enough to take Jan and me under their wings and teach us the restaurant biz. I know what tastes good and what good service is after eating on the road for the past 30 years or so, but there is so much more to creating a great restaurant and we don’t want to be “average,” as that simply will not be acceptable. When I am not traveling for the WWE or doing WWE business here at home, we spend a great deal of time strategizing about “J.R.’s Bar-B-Q”. It is hard to believe we will be open in approximately 2 months! I left OKC Sunday for LaGuardia via DFW in time to get to my hotel room in Bridgeport to watch the season premier of “The Sopranos” (as planned), and like any other great piece of writing, the episode had me wanting more. One has to assume that the body count will escalate considerably this week even though I will be in Milan, Italy and will have to wait until I return to see the 2nd episode of the last run of my favorite TV program. The turf war between the New York and New Jersey families will be shocking when the final body count is taken if my instincts are on the money. Greed, betrayal, and unpredictability (sounds like some wrestling promoters’ meetings from back in the 70’s and 80’s that I attended) will be vital ingredients one has to assume during the final days of arguably the best TV show to ever air on HBO. The life of a WWE announcer might not be as glamorous as one might expect. The King and I shared a dressing room, normally a storage room, with others Monday night. That’s not a bad thing, but we had no bathroom, no shower, and no place to actually sit and prepare for our show. This is really not that unusual nor is it a deal breaker as this business teaches one to adapt to all situations and circumstances. “Poor us”. After Raw in Connecticut, The King and I drove ourselves back to NYC to stay at a LaGuardia Airport hotel property. We arrived at the hotel about 2 a.m. and each had 4:30 a.m. wake up calls in order to turn in King’s rental car and then to catch EARLY flights home. We did get to hit a McDonald’s along Interstate 95 on the way to LaGuardia where we dined on chicken only and no carbs. Ah, the sweet life… some McDonald’s chicken, a Diet Coke, and less than two hours sleep! This week, as a matter of fact this month’s travel, is packed. Saturday I leave for Milan via OKC to Atlanta to Milan. We arrive Sunday morning in Milan and have a day to get “right” before Raw Monday night, which will be the first time Monday Night Raw has ever emanated from Italy. Then it is the first flight back to Atlanta for me Tuesday morning and then connecting back to OKC. I suggested to the Mrs. that I was thinking about spending the time between the Milan and London RAW shows in Amsterdam, but she did not think that was too funny. So I will return to Oklahoma after Milan and then leave again on Saturday April 21 from OKC to DFW to London for the April 23 Raw in “Jolly Old”. Add another PPV, Backlash, to the mix on Sunday April 29 and Monday Night Raw in Nashville on Monday April 30 and this month is an ambitious one for sure. Nonetheless I would not trade my job with anyone I know, to be honest with you. Collin commented that he felt it was too early for King and me to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Hell Collin, I still don’t know if I belong there at all, but nonetheless there are others in other fields who still work in their chosen lines of work who are members of their respective Halls of Fame. The WWE Hall of Fame is a constant source of discussion and I almost dread it next year as it brings some obsessed, passionate and sometimes crazed individuals out of the woodwork with their relentless suggestions as to who should be inducted and who should not. I am happy I am no longer in the selection process. I repeat I am NO LONGER in the HOF selection process. The atmosphere behind the scenes at the HOF was as most would expect it was a bunch of storytelling, and much like fishing tales; the first liar did not have a chance. Honestly, if someone ever decides to film the afternoon of the HOF, it would make for some great TV in the form of a DVD extra. Lance asked about Cody Rhodes, who spoke on his father’s behalf at the HOF and from what I can tell Cody has the chance to be a special talent in the WWE in the future. If Cody is allowed to stay “down on the farm” until he is ready and isn’t “picked too green,” the son of the American Dream can be a main event level performer in the WWE for years to come. Cody’s maturity and understanding of many of the nuances of the biz remind me of a young Rock back in the day. Things others have to be taught come naturally to Cody. Nonetheless I would make sure Cody has no less than 2 years in the developmental programs before I exposed him on worldwide TV. I probably just jinxed this ultra-talented kid, but he is a blue chipper who I am really looking forward to watching hopefully become a major star. I am really pleased that he has his Mama’s genes in him, as he is a handsome and truly athletic young man. (Only kidding, Dream!) Varish wanted to know my thoughts on Kennedy. I have said here many times that I really like Kennedy’s potential and feel the new “Mr. Money in the Bank” has the ability to be a main event level talent for years to come. Again, Kennedy has some “Stunning Steve” qualities about him, which is damn sure a good thing. As long as Kennedy, or any young talent, realizes that this business is a long and challenging journey and that they never STOP learning – he will be fine. Untimely injuries are the kiss of death in this biz, as is bad attitudes such as “I know it all” or “The rules don’t apply to me.” Some fans speculate that WM23 was HBK’s last major Wrestlemania moment. I could not disagree more. Unless Mother Nature taps Shawn Michaels on the shoulder and says “it’s time,” then I see HBK having more ‘Mania moments especially considering Shawn is still arguably as good an in ring performer as there is in the entire WWE. HBK is a by product of the wrestling territory system which has provided him invaluable tools to make and to keep HBK as a main event level talent for the foreseeable future. Hugh in Ireland… Thanks for checking out our site and for the kind words about my voice the day after `Mania. I pushed the envelope too much in Detroit and paid the price. I was actually apprehensive Monday night in Bridgeport about how my pipes would hold up during the two hour RAW broadcast. Luckily we got through it. Hot tea, lemon and honey did the trick. For the record, my Mama’s homemade recipe for a sore throat was hot water, whiskey, honey, and sugar and was called a “Hot Toddy”. Chris wanted to know about the term “goofy as a pet coon”. When I was a boy, a friend of mine had a young raccoon they had caught in the wild. They tried to domesticate the coon and kept it tied to a stake, with a collar around the coon’s neck. The coon paced constantly. The coon was mean and hated to be tied up and was never going to become a traditional “pet”. The coon became crazier by the day and was finally turned loose and wasted no time in returning to the woods. Hence the term “goofier than a pet coon”. I attended the Annual OU Red-White game last Saturday with my good friend Bud Hebert, who was the Orange Bowl MVP in the early 80’s after picking off 3 Florida State passes in an OU victory. The Sooners look to be a consistent QB away from having another championship contending team and the three athletes competing for the QB job can all play. “Swamp Root” Hebert likes redshirt freshman Sam Bradford to win the starting job. Shahaf in Israel commented us that the McMahon-Trump story was big news there. The WWE got amazing coverage globally on the world’s most famous head shaving easily surpassing Britney Spears’ manic buzz cut. Rick- I am not up to speed with the pending Jerry Lawler-Hulk Hogan match that is being talked about for Memphis. Knowing how these deals often fall apart at the last minute, I would be somewhat surprised if it ever happens, but I have been wrong before as many of you so gleefully remind me more often than not. Kassandra- My best wishes on your 6th hip surgery. Stay positive and persevere. Easy for me to say, but that’s how I hope you approach this next challenge. Someone asked how an independent contractor can be under contract. Easily and it is done legally and ethically every day in many walks of life. In other words, one doesn’t have to be an employee to be contracted to a particular company. Chris- The last I talked to Big Show, and it has been a while, he was happy, positive, and was working diligently at losing weight and improving his quality of life. Show told me he had many “irons in the fire” and none were of the wrestling variety. I will never forget Mrs. J.R. feeding the big fella during the very early days of him signing with the WWE, and Show ate an ample supply of homemade biscuits and nearly a whole jar of delicious apple butter, one of my all-time favorites too. Jimmy- it was good to see you in Detroit and thanks again for the beverage you provided me at Gibson’s in Chicago, one of America’s great steakhouses, last year at WM 22. I encourage you to read some of our archived blogs, as many of your questions have already been answered. With my time becoming less and less available I will do my best to answer as many of your comments as possible, but many of your questions have already been addressed. Plus, I prefer to not take a verbal whipping because I did not answer your particular comment. If I want to be verbally abused I can call an ex-boss or ex-wife and get my fill. Have you tried our Beef Jerky? It is delicious and affordable and we are working on being able to ship it worldwide. Many of you have tried it and your feedback has been super. Thanks for supporting our site with your purchases. Everyone here really appreciates your business. Be well and we will have more blogs still to come this week. J.R.

Hey JR, Greetings from Toronto! Just watched Raw and I saw Anthony "Santino Marella" Carelli win the IC championship!. Also he billed himself as from San Fili, Calabria. Now I'm sure most people in Italy don't even know where that is because it hase only about 2000 residents. The crazy thing is that my family is actually from there! Same last name, same town!I just thought that was weird and I was wondering if the choice of San Fili was more than very coincidental. Do you know of any way I could write to him? I don't mean to be intrusive but I'm very curious. Thanks and keep fighting the power to find a way to get your sauces north of the border!

J.R. I have a few questions for you: 1. Is ECW ever going to be two hours long? 2. Is John Cena ever going to turn heel? 3. How much does your hat cost? 4. Is Jerry Lawler married? 5. Do you think that TNA is squandering money trying to compete with WWE/ECW. 6. Why do the divas seem passionless when fighting? I do have respect for them for going out there week after week, It's just that they seem to care more about turning on the fans than winning. 7. If you were in charge of drafting, and had to select five superstars from Raw, five from Smack Down, and five from ECW, who would they be? 8. Do you think that Ric Flair would receive more of a push on Smack Down than on RAW. 9. Do you think that John Cena is not getting enough of a challenge on Raw?

Hey JR, Great site and congratulations on the Hall Of Fame induction, you truly deserve it. Just a quick question, I am a big Bobby Lashley fan and seeing him use the real Dominator as his finisher I thought was one of the best things about him. I just find it strange that he has not only stopped using it, but he is now using the running powerslam as his finisher but calling it the Dominator. Why doesn’t he just use the real Dominator as his finisher? Thanks, Dean.

Hey J.R, your blogs are awesome to read! In your opinion, do you see any austin-like or the rock-like superstars in the buisness today or those two were just once in a lifetime superstars? I heard a rumor that the Undertaker might retire soon, I hope that it's not true, because he still has a lot left. I also think that it would be more fitting for his age to go back to the "badass" character again since the "deadman" character is supposed to be more intimidating and at his age, it's not as intimidating anymore and the "badass" gimmick is more fitting for his age as he doesn't need to be that intimidating. I hope you got my point because it might look a little confusing. Hope to hear from you, You're awesome!

JR: Just a story to tell you about during the UWF days. Back when Mid-South became UWF, the radio station I was working at in Louisiana contacted Mid-South sports about bringing some matches to Minden, LA for a fund raiser. One of the guys at the station made a phone call, and next thing you know the UWF is coming! The show was to be held at a local Jr. High football field in late August. They brought some heavy hitters: Micheal Hayes, Ted Dibiase, Sting, Missing Link, Skandar Akbar, Missy Hyatt, lots more. The Booster Club got money from concessions. We had no idea what was to come. The stands, field totally packed. People were climbing trees and standing on housetops from streets over. Things got off to a rocky start. Some of the seats were not right, the PA system went on the fritz. Dr. Death could not hear his music to know when to come out. Grizzly Smith told us we did fine, these things happen all the time. Referee Tommy Gilbert told me (I got to be ring announcer), the only people who make mistakes are the ones who never do anything. The booster club made thousands. The wrestlers were very nice and worked with us. My colleague from the station told me Carl Fergie (ref) was not very nice, but after the matches, he was taking down the ring. I went to shake his hand and told him "thank you for coming". He was gracious, stopped what he was doing, shook my hand and told me it was a pleasure. As a life long wrestling fan, I was on a "wrestling high" for days. I saw close up the work that goes into putting on a wrestling show, from the wrestler's side, and the ones that work to put it all together. For one night, I got to be part of "the show". I have always had high respect for the people who make this their life, and I congratulate you for making the hall of fame. I sent tapes to Mid-South of the promos we made, hoping for the ring. maybe a shot. But, they had you, the best in the business. I have called play by play for hundreds of high school football, and basketball games. But nothing compares to introducing Dr. Death Steve Williams in the middle of

Hi JR. The only comment I had was based on your upcoming trip to europe.. I don't know how much time you've been over there.. but I'd leave the jerkey orders for a week, and take the Mrs.. a weeklong vacation in europe (well, even without amsterdam) and you just might like travelling when you don't have to work the same night. my fav's are austria and vienna. Hungary is getting the way of amsterdam so don't tell that to the mrs if you two want to go there :-) Only saying this because it would be a really good time for both you and the Mrs. Regards Lloyd

Hello JR. First of though late Congrats on the HOF induction, as its well deserved. Let me say that I have been a wrestling fan since the early 80's though I was a young kid I can still remember watch Portland wrestling every week (as I live in Washington State)and like you I would love to see more wrestling on the shows now but I understand the changing times. There were many years that I didnt watch wrestling not knowing where to find it, then one day I came across a Saturday Night WCW show and was hooked as at that time that one or two hours seemed like major event.. and I reconized alot of the wrestlers.. Not long after that I found WCWs Monday Nitro and was hooked all over again.. Then in I belive 1993 a friend invited me over to watch wrestling and have a party.. so I went expecting to watch Nitro and as 9pm came around he turned on WWE Raw.. At first I wasnt sure as I only knew a couple of stars on the show but the way a certian announcer seemed to draw me into the story lines and that compasion made me feel as if I was at the show myself. At that time here on the West Coast Raw and Nitro both showed starting at 9pm.. so we found a way to get 2 tvs hooked up and watched both shows at once Watching Raw with sound and Nitro with closed caption. After a while Nitro switched to air at 6pm pacific time which was just Awesome as we would watch Nitro for 2 hours.. play some video games and then turn on Raw.. Then after the WCW buyout I was luck enough to Attend Raw for the first time in Tacoma WA. and that happened to be the night that Booker T wrestled Buff Bagwell on Raw/WCW.. As the "attitude era" was in full swing I was needless to say hooked.. Even now I cant wait for Monday nights to come around as I know I will hear you and the King and I know that even if a segment is bad..you still show the passion that I hold myself.. I am so behind WWE and its programing that I even bought myself a Christmas present a couple years ago.. 1 share of WWE stock, which is framed and on my wall. I would like to say thank you for what you do, your HOF speach touched me knowing you are a fan, thanks to you I have been looking into more of the history of the buisness. God willing I hope to hear you on my TV for years to come, my regret is that I wish that when I do attend Raws (when they are in the Seattle/Portland area that I could hear your annoucing at the event, but I settle for going home and watching the show. Again sir thanks for the oppertunity to have a forum such as this where you respond to your fans and wrestling fans alike.. Now if you dont mind I do have a question, I have read in a few places that your contract (which I belive is now year to year) is set to expire again in the fall.. and I know you have said that you would like to like to continue this for years to come. But the talk is cirrculating that Micheal Cole may replace you on Raw. Nothing against Cole but in my opinion he does not bring the same amount of energy and passion to the story lines as you do. What are your thoughts on this. Do you see (as it stands now) you continueing to be the voice of Raw. Or would you be happy annoucing SmackDown, or be happy annoucing anywhere on any of the shows as long as your still apart of the buisness. Please let me as well as other fans know if you wish to. Sorry for taking up so much of your time as I know you are a busy man Have a great time in Italy. God Bless and Boomer Sooner! From a fan of the greatest announcer of the greatest sport. Aaron R. Olympia WA.

JR, What is your heritage? Any Irish in there? Ross is a strong Irish name

Do you agree with the WWE blocking Jerry Lawler from competing in the Memphis match with Hulk Hogan?

I came across this blog entry through a wrestling news website and thought I'd make a quick comment on Kennedy. Of all new talent in the WWE, I think Kennedy has more potential than any other. It's quite true that Kennedy is like a young Stunning Steve. And as for his attitude - Being a big Kennedy fan (which seems to be the case with many others too) I've listened to a lot of interviews and he seems like he's modest about his position. He's almost still got the frame of mind of a fan. In my mind, he is right up there already. He's a good in ring performer being athletic and he sells matches a bit like Austin (by trying to make things seem more believable and realistic rather than set up). As for his skills on the mic..... he's one of the few guys around now who doesn't sound like he spent the last few hours reading over a script. Totally natural, and he does some improvisation. Also I'd like to say that when Smackdown! came down to New Zealand, Kennedy worked the crowd so well that he pretty much was more over than anyone else (even more over than faces if you ask me). ... well that was anything BUT a quick comment

I live in OK & I see you guys every time you come to Tulsa & always loose my voice. Anyway how wheelchair accessible will your restaurant be? I ask this well because Im in a wheelchair & it really sucks when I can't get in. Yours Truly, Ross P.S. That restaurant better have its kitchen stocked when I come lol.

Hello J.R., I was watching an old WCW Mayhem PPV on 24/7 and out walks this ridiculous guy by the name of "Oklahoma". I can't quite figure out who he was supposed to be...familiar though. Just Kidding. Is imitation the sincerest form of flattery in this case, or just bad taste and sour grapes on the part of WCW? Personally, I though it was pretty bad taste all the way down to the attempt at Bell's Palsy. Your opinion on the subject?

JR, I am a big collector of WWE action figures and was wondering why there hasnt been a classic series figure made of Randy Savage. I'm a big fan of the "Macho Man" and guessed it had something to do with licensing rights or something. I have over 200 figures in my collection and would love to have one. PS, would love to see you do the ECW or Smackdown shows. I think your excellent abilities are what separates the shows. Thanks, Rhett Davis 14 El Dorado AR

Just wanted to comment on the Four Horsemen DVD. After so many were so criticial of the DVD before it was even released, I'm happy to say this could be the best piece of work WWE has released so far. The documentary was lengthy, but that was a good thing with no corner cut and most of it being very candid (Flair: "If Vince had us, Hogan would have been the first match on the card." Love that!) For the smarks out there is some kayfabe (almost all by Arn who to this day protects the business) but Ric, Tully ,J.J., Dusty and others really laid it all out. The Paul Roma segment was interesting given the fact that guy never drew a fly to a card yet had the audacity to run down Flair & Arn. I guess when you spend most of your career on the C-list you get pretty bitter. On the match selection those turned out to be better than they first appeared on paper. The Flair/Ricky Morton cage match was pure gold and should have been released by Crockett back in the day. The use of the Crockett master tapes by WWE has been wisely done in the last couple of releases. I also got a big kick out the extras with the stories told by the Horsemen members. Some of the questions I have had over the years were unexpectedly answered. I could nit pick about the lack of a third disc, but as JR said they will hopefully be releasing much more in the future. I'm still waiting for the Ric Flair Ultimate Collection Vol. 2! BTW there are Easter Eggs on the DVDs in case you didn't know!

J.R. What can I say? You're a legend. I've only just recently become a wrestling fan, despite being in my 20's. In Australia, unless you own subscription (or Pay) TV, you don't watch wrestling. Over the last 12 months - I have really enjoyed wrestling - and especially Monday night Raw. (which screens on wednesday here) You have a gift of making the most dull match seem exciting, and the most exciting matches even better. But you know when to say nothing. You are one of the best sporting commentators going around,(I watch a lot of sport) and you have impeccable timing. You're not sure whether you belong in the HOF? You belong alright. You're one of the greats. I wanted to ask you one question though - if JBL starts wrestling again, as I expect he will - who do you think would be a good replacement? Oh - and as you say, Kennedy will be a good champ when he eventually wins the title - he gets good heat! Good luck with the restaurant opening. All the best, Dave Bremner

Hey Jr, When will the next installment of Legends of Wrestling air on 24/7?

Hey JR, how's it going? You once said if you don’t answer a question, ask again, so here are my 3 questions (if you dont mind). 1) What was your favorite storyline since the year 2000? 2)If you could still sign wrestlers today, name a few people from the indies and other promotions that you would sign to the WWE. 3) Which stars do you think have “main event” level potential? (I’m talking about those who haven’t hit the main event yet.) Thanks for your time, JR. And as always, i’ll see you monday night on RAW!!!

JR Loved the new Horsemen DVD. Any reason Olie was not on the disc? Also looking forward to the grestest families in wrestling DVD which will include the Von Erichs. Any chance there will ever be just be a single disc on this family as their story is very interesting to a lot of people.

Hello JR. Congratulations on your induction into the 2007 WWE Hall of Fame. I know your busy but I hope you get to answer my question in this blog. The controversy about John Cena is not exactly kept secret. People can clearly see that he is booed alot. I, personally, think it’s because Vince McMahon is pushing him too much. He was a good champion at first, but I don’t think being a long-term champion is something Cena does well. Do you think his long title run is the reason why he is hated so much? Do you think it’s time for Vince to give the title to someone else? Thanks for reading, Much Appreciated, Your #1 fan, Rhys.

G'day J.R, This might seem like a tough question for you to answer, and I am doubting in my mind that you can even answer this question... What is your favourite wrestling move? Take care of yourself, Trevor.

jr quick question do you know when the wwe will be returning to cincinnati?usually we see you guys about every 6 months or so your last visit was cyber sunday nov.5 hope to hear from you and hopefully raw comes to town my 7 year old has never been and would love it thanks for your time and be safe!!!

I was wondering if you think a name change for ECW would be wise? I do!! Call it something that it is, not something that it was. Change is not always bad and this should be viewed in that way

I love reading your insight into the world of wrestling. You could tell your love of the the business. now you always said when your free from the company you'll write your book. the big question is this. When? I think of you as a lifer like so many in the business...ever thought of writing it and sitting on this in (this is a sad case here) you some how die before the moment comes. Sorry like i said it's a sad case also ever thought of writing an instruction book for wrestling. you know the basic stuff you tell people about commentating and storytelling and set up. Some of the young wrestlers today are lacking those qualities and are becoming a flash in the pan....also there seems to be a lack of vauable male manegers today. What ever happened to the tradition of wrestling then managing. like mr fuji ,harly race, bobby heenan, etc. It seems like now a day they wrestle until they die...i think with his charisma and articulate speaking ability ric flair could make a perfect manager. he could be the jj dillon that some people need. i think if matt hardy had someone like him he would be more over(not to discount matt's verbal ability but look when he came back it was good then went down in quality). it's a tradition that i miss and i think is lacking in this day and age. also one last thing......but ever happen to the ugly ladies....i mean in the 80's you had a great women's division and the heels were always not the cute girls. it worked remember the rock n roll connection? what happened. grant it the mostly male veiwership want the divas but it's old when the same 4 beat the same 4. okay that's it for now.......hope you take sometimes after or before the next wrestlemania and take a vacation. orlando has some great theme parks...

Why wasn't Ole Anderson and Lex Luger interviewed for the Four Horsemen DVD?

Hey J.R, I was wondering if you ever met Ed Whalen?, he is a legend here in Calgary as you probably know. There is a book out right now about Stampede wrestling and inside there is a story about Whalen marking out over an angle and proceeded to crack Abdullah The Butcher over the head with his Mic. I was wondering if you were ever fooled by an angle?, did you ever get involved for real?

HELLO JR !!!!!!!!!!!! I know that you are against a new version of the four horsemen. I agree that they would never be as good as the original version. But wouldn't it be great to see Ric Flair be on top one final time. I know that may never happen without a really great storyline. Maybe a new version of the horsemen would generate enough interest to make that happen. I think that Flair leading a young group consisiting of Cade, Murdoch, and Dykstra would be unstoppable. Cade reminds me of a younger, stronger Barry Windham. Murdouch if he was a litte meanier could be the enforcer of the group. Dykstra is just dang good and with a little coaching from Flair he could be great. Imagine Flair as world champ, Dykstra as I.C. champ and Cade & Murdoch as tag champs. That is just my two cents worth. Keep up the great work. Congrats on the HOF induction. You truly are the best.

jr have you ever been to fiorella's jack stack barbeque? It's in kansas city near the kemper arena

any chance shelton benjamin ever stops jobing to the "stars"

Why doesn’t the WWE ever do appearances in Michigan? Besides WM 23, Also they barely even come here for shows maybe one a year. What’s up with that? I thought Detroit has really great fans so in return you would think wwe would come here more right? I mean it seems like they always do two or three shows either in chicago or washington d.c. Thanks Ryan

Hello JR I so Happy Raw is coming to my hometown of Wilkes-Barre Pa on June 11th. I can't wait. I really need to see my favorite wrestler The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels. Wish my other favorite wrestler Triple H was going to be with him but at least Shawn will be there. Or should I say he better be. I love my DX. Here's hoping Shawn beats the three idiots at backlash. I can't stand any of them. Only put up with Cena because he was half of the tag champs with Shawn. Speaking of DX and please answer this How's Hunter doing? What is Shawn and Hunter like outside the ring?

Greetings, Hall of Famer! I’ll get right to my question. I know that you have no say in bookings, who earns the titles etc., however you’ve said on your site that you do not foresee Flair getting “one more run” with the title and that it is highly unlikely. I can recall a pretty washed up Bob Backlund winning the title in the ’90s. Even though he lost it pretty quickly to BDC Diesel, he still earned it nonetheless. What do you think the difference is in these instances, especially since Flair is, and always will be over with the fans? I feel Flair would serve as a pretty good champ, even at this stage of his career (for nostalgia purposes and to show the youngsters a thing or 2). He does more now than a lot of the wrestlers in their prime who claim to be main eventers or main event material. PLEASE REPLY.

I enjoy reading your blogs JR keep them up. I was just wondering what are your thoughts on CM Punk joining the New Breed? I think it could be great for CM Punk. Ive always been entertained by Punk in a heel or baby face role. I think if the WWE/ECW lets Punk be Punk he can really get over with the fans. Ive followed Punk for a long time back to his Ring of Honor and IWA MS days and have always been impressed. I loved his "Straight edge means im drug free, im alcohol free, and that means im better than you" gimmick. I don't mean to sound like a "Smark" with all the wrestling terms but CM Punk is my favirote wrestler and i just think he could be a future superstar.

Hey J.R. Check it out, I'm 44 years old and going back to college! Isn't that crazy? Speaking of college do you have any prediction about where Adrian Peterson might get drafted? Some of the so-called 'experts' say he is injury prone, yet others say he is a one every five years kind of player. I think he'll be a great player in the NFL but that's just my opinion. Good luck with the restaurant!

Hey JR, First off congratulations on the Hall Of Fame induction! It was and is truly well deserved! I don't know how many times I've been smiling at your comments! One liners that will go down in history as some of the best ever! Secondly I would really really really like to get your thoughts on Torrie Wilson. Not only do I think shes a georgeous, classy lady but also she is improving vastly in the ring. I was just wondering if you think she'll be in line for a title shot anytime soon!? Thanks A Million, Dean

Man i cant wait for your resturaunt to open. Man im so proud of that feet you are gonna accomplish. CONGRATS!!!

CHRIS BENOIT IS A WRESTLING GREAT AND HIS OPPONENT ON THE BIGGEST SHOW OF THE YEAR WAS A NOBODY, AND LAST FRIDAY ON SMACAKDOWN HE LOST TO SOME PUNK MTV KID, WHAT DID BENOIT DO WRONG TO DESERVE THIS, WHAT IS HE BEING PUNISHED LIKE THIS FOR?

Hey J.R. -- just got my shipment of jerky and really enjoyed the thick, meaty cuts. So much better than the processed supermarket stuff -- I'll be back for sure. One of my favorite periods in recent WWE history was when Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero simultaneously held the championships. Benoit in particular has always been a favorite of mine. Do you know why his reign was so abbreviated? I wonder if those in charge considered his title reign a disappointment as far as business goes? At any rate, that was a let-down, and I wonder if you think he'll be given the opportunity to be a main event player again in the near term. Thanks!

Hi JR, congratulations on your induction into the hall of fame you truly are a great announcer. I have heard a few people saying that the announcer dosent make a difference to the match,i strongly disagree. because if i ever have to listen to paul heymen commentate another match i think i would opt to watch it in spanish even though i dont speak the language. well done JR you truly deserve it!!

LAST TIME I SAW CRYME TYME THEY WERE THE #1 TAG TITLE CONTENDERS, AND NOW I ONLY SEE THEM ON THE INTERNET ON SUNDAY NIGHT HEAT WHICH MEANS MANAGEMENT THINKS THEY SUCK,I THOUGHT THEY WERE GREAT MYSELF, WHAT IS CRYME TYME IN THE DOGHOUSE FOR?

CHRIS BENOIT IS A WRESTLING GREAT AND HE LOST TO SOME PUNK MTV KID LAST FRIDAY ON SMACKDOWN,AND ON THE BIGGEST SHOW OF THE YEAR HIS OPPONENT WAS MVP, WHAT DID BENOIT DO WRONG TO DESERVE THIS, WHAT IS HE BEING PUNISHED LIKE THIS FOR?

JR I would like to know what you think of the pay per view stages? it seems like every year they get better and better especially wrestlemania

HELLO JR CONGRATUALTIONS FOR BECOMING WHAT U DESERVE A HALL OF FAMER....AND I WANT TO ASK U ABOUT PAUL BURCHILL??AND THE FUTURE OF BENJAMIN????AND IF JERICHO WILL COME BACK SOON?

how about steve williams and cowboy bill watts are they ok do you still talk with them

JR, I was wondering if the announcers are in the know on the outcomes of matches or if you're kept in the dark in order to make the announcing seem more spontaneous? Also kudos for the 4 way match at Backlash. HBK-Cena at mania was so awesome and well done it would have been hard to beat the quality of that match. Safe travels to and fro to Europe.

Hi again J.R.! I just got the new Four Horseman DVD. It's GREAT! There is one thing that stood out in my mind. Watching Arn Anderson in interviews as well as in matches, I can't help but wonder if he was the inspiration behind Stone Cold Steve Austin. I mean, Arn is shown giving the finger before the War Games 88 match and saying in an interview "...and that's the bottom line!" I personally have never heard the comparison before, but since you know Austin so well, maybe you'd be able to help. Thanks!

JR.... On the Monday (4/9) edition of RAW, I was a little confused with the outcome of the Orton/HBK match. The dual refs counted and raise both individuals hands, thus setting up the fatal 4 way for Backlash. However, how is that possible when Orton in no way had HBK in any type of pinning combination?? I did notice that HBK's shoulders were on the mat but he completely covered Orton.. Can you shed some light?

J.R., First of all congrats on the Hall of Fame, love ya Big guy and out of all announcers to be the first to go into the WWE Hall it should be you and am glad it was. To my question, Shane O'Mac Monday said that he was the forth genration in the wrestling business, that took me and my wife by surprise I have heard of Vince Sr. And Jr. Shane and Steph(And Trips) Kids. I thought that Shane and Steph was the third not forth generation. Was it a slip or was there a generation before Vince Sr. Thanks Kevin Woodson Waiting Adrian Peterson's Draft on Apr. 28-29

What's it like recording vocal commentary for the WWE video games? Ever get to improv? Does it bother you that it's recorded almost a year ahead of time?

How's it goin' J.R.! Got to say I just bought the Ric Flair & The Four Horsemen DVD and I must say it is the finest WWE home video release to date (besides the AWA DVD and the Wrestlemania Anthologies). Hopefully more WCW/NWA material will be released in the near future...growing up in NC, the NWA was a product that is near-and-dear to my heart! Which gets me goin'....When will Wrestlemania come to Tarheelia? Bank of America Stadium in Charoltte would be a great venue for Wrestlemania in the near future! Also when do you think Jeff hardy will get a run at WWE Championship. Random thoughts! Thanks for everything!

J.R The old addage goes 'you dont realise what you have until its missing' and just like everytime your not on raw (coz you got fired, which was wrong) when you lost your voice on raw, i hated it. Raw is J.R heres to the next 10 years of JR (thats not a rumor by the way, jr has NOT signed a ten year contract lol, just my feeling) Congrats on the HOF, you are a legendary commentator.
