It was announced Friday morning that Shane McMahon has resigned from WWE effective January 1, 2010 to pursue other business opportunities.
"I feel that this the opportune time to pursue outside business opportunities," Shane said in a written statement sent to staff and then documented on WWE.com.
This comes as a major surprise to many including me. Shane is a proud, 4th generation wrestling person who has worked with WWE essentially his entire live starting on the ring crew.
Shane has always been one of the shining stars within the WWE organization and it will be interesting to see what his next business endeavors entail.
We'll keep eveyone informed as information becomes available. However, we wish Shane and his family the best in what ever he chooses to do as I have always had a great repore with him and Shahe has earned the respect of all who have worked with him.
Again, this is a major surprise from within the WWE orgnization.

Actually, it's Vince who will be running for the Senate. Linda is going to step in, after the appropriate plastic surgery, to assume the identity of Hillary Clinton after her assassination in order to avoid causing a panic which would topple Obama's chances of re-election.
Seriously though, the thought of Chris Dodd vs. Vince McMahon in the 2010 election, followed by a Palin-Ventura ticket in 2012, would cause me to start believing that the whole Mayan calendar thing is true.

it's by time that someone of the McMahan's, is leaving the biz for some other kind of biz oppertunity...I wish him all the best of luck, although we are still far far away from Jan, 01, 2010, he may change his mind(I hope not)..
Maybe this will give someone else the oppurtunity to work in his place, or at the bord of directors..
That's a true shocker - my best wishes to Shane. He certainly gave me a lot of entertainment and I was impressed at the Family Business character of WWE.
Of course Shane will go to TNA and if the rumors are true, good ol'JR is going to follow him when his contract is up. Shane and JR both know that you've got to get out while the gettin's good, and that time is now, because Linda McMahon has left the company to run for the Senate. Linda's the one who's held that company together.
Have you been drinking?
It is hard to imagine the WWE without Shane....it really is surprising. However, I am sure that Shane will do great in his future endeavors.
It's "rapport" not "repore", sir.
Thank you so VERY much Carl.
i wish him the best of luck and hope that what ever he does he is succsessfull. He will be missed by the WWE
while i wish shane luck, the cynic in me thinks he will just go work on linda's senate campaign and when she loses he'll be back in the fold. hope i'm wrong, though.
Shane McMahon is really a genius! lol
Even he knows that once Vince steps down, the rest of his life will revolve around the WWE. This is a smart move to go out and explore other opportunities before his life gets controlled around the WWE.
Go explore Shane! Be normal for a few years lol
Wow, this is shocking news! I always enjoyed Shane's on-screen persona, especially the matches with X-Pac/The Posse and against Vince. I hope whatever he decides to venture into it is hugely successful.
Of course, with the internet idiots, give it a day and they'll be saying Shane resigned to go to TNA or that Randy Savage will be taking his place as Executive VP of Global, lol.
