SmackDown This (Feb. 5, 2009) from WWE.com

Posted in:

The past few days have gone by like a blur. They've escaped like Fink's hair ... gone in a flash. But it's all good.

Mrs. J.R. and I had the privilege of attending the Super Bowl and watching my wife's beloved Steelers win their unprecedented sixth NFL Title. (Ten more and they tie Ric Flair in the world title category.) I loved the Super Bowl experience from start to finish but I must say, and remember that I am a HUGE football fan, that it wasn't as overwhelming as the emotions that I have felt at WrestleMania's in the past. We actually sat behind a fellow who was a Steeler fan and who lives in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida who has already purchased his WrestleMania tickets. Small world, huh?

Then on Monday night I am in Tampa and watching Monday Night Raw when I hear that Ric Flair will be appearing live on Raw this Monday Night on USA Network on a broadcast that emanates from Oakland, Calif. The SmackDown crew tapes in Fresno on Tuesday night so I am making sure that I am in Fresno early enough on Tuesday to watch Raw from our hotel. Plus, Undertaker vs. RKO is a stout main event that I am anxious to see.

Who knew it would take a SmackDown Superstar to make Monday Night Raw even more special?

Finally, this Saturday J.R.'s Family BBQ in Moore, Okla., located just off I-35 at exit 116 just south of OKC the legendary Danny Hodge will be signing his new book, "Oklahoma Shooter: The Dan Hodge Story" from noon until 3 p.m. I am looking forward to attending this event myself.

Wait. This just in. My last week's blog was billed UNDER Scotty Goldman's WWE.com show on the Smackdown home page. I guess Goldman's dot com exclusive really must be good or my stuff really isn't. I'll ask my dear, close, long-time, personal friend and confidant Dr. Joe E. Styles to investigate because he has "people" and Italian cold cuts.

Big time main event this Friday night on SmackDown with Undertaker and Triple H teaming to wrestle WWE Champion Edge and the Big Show. There are some interesting chemistry possibilities in this one on both teams. All four men are in the WWE Title Elimination Chamber Match at No Way Out which will come to you from Seattle.

A Battle Royal will kick off SmackDown Friday night at 8/7 CT on MyNetwork TV starring "My Tazz" to determine a spot in the WWE Title bout inside the Elimination Chamber. Kung Fu Naki isn't favored, but he will have the best tan. Remember in the old ECW days when Tazz had that rich, dark tan? Nevermind.

Hurricane "Don't Call Me Gregory" Helms is slated to make a statement about what his fellow North Carolinians, Jeff and Matt Hardy, are going through which isn't pretty. What must Matt and Jeff's dad be thinking about this gut wrenching development? It has to be embarrassing as it can be for Mr. Hardy in the small town of Cameron, N.C.

Who has the easiest jobs on Friday Night SmackDown other than Tazz and yours truly? That's debatable but one might suggest it would be Primo and Carlito who seemingly spend more time hanging with the Bella Twins than they do defending the WWE Tag Titles on Friday nights. I can't say as I blame the Brothers Colon as I'm not all about wrestling and BBQ.

MVP faces Shelton Benjamin this Friday night as MVP hopes to continue his winning ways. MVP seems to have regained his mojo and is seemingly off the interstate to infamy now that he has rediscovered how to win. However beating Benjamin for the United States Title will be an entirely different matter. I would like to see both these men get hotter than J.R.'s HOT BBQ sauce and light up Friday nights.

I was trying to find your blog with the comments about WWE being rated PG... I understand why SmackDown has to be PG, since it's on network TV. But since RAW is on cable, it should be at least PG-13. ECW is a disgrace to it's name! It is far from being Extreme! ECW should be rated R in order to live up to it's name. ECW is a joke compared to the original!!!
