Sooners Travel to Hostile Territory

I will be leaving soon for the OKC Airport to catch a Southwest Airlines flight to St. Louis and then drive over to the University of Missouri to attend my first ever game in Columbia, Missouri. The Sooners-Tigers game can be seen on ABC TV Saturday morning at 11 central time and you may notice a guy in a black hat on the OU sideline. That would be yours truly.
This is a huge game for both teams. OU wants to run the table and win 10 this season while Mizzou has only one loss posting a 7-1 season so far. The sooners are any where from a 2-3 point underdog on the road this weekend.
OU can run on Mizzou and if the run works so does play action passes. The young but talented Offensive line must have a great game and not self destruct with senseless non contact penalties. I look for the sooners play calling to keep the Tigers off balance. Long drives kill the clock and will take the crowd out of this game which is imperative.
Mizzou fully expects to win against one of the nations top programs and with some of their top recruits on hands this is a huge game for all involved.
Chase Daniel is a great young QB who the Sooners must tackle aggressively and with their pads not their arms to make this deal work. As Daniel goes so does Missouri. Coach Stoops has been spending a great deal of time with the Sooner defense which is a good thing from my perspective.
This one won’t be easy but I see OU winning a true Slobber-Knocker by a field goal in a high scoring game.
OSU needs a win and they need it Saturday against Nebraska. Will the Cornhuskers have a little hangover from their last minute loss to Texas in Lincoln last Saturday? Perhaps. The Cowboys have to play with more of a sense of defensive urgency and something tells me that an upset could happen in Stillwater. Don’t be surprised if Mike Gundy’s Cowboys win a thriller at T. Boone “I have more money than you” Pickens Stadium.
Dallas Cowboy fans don’t look for your team to win in Carolina no matter if Troy Aikman or Roger Staubach were at the helm. The Cowboys offensive line is horrid and until they start playing better this team is in deep trouble in what will likely be Bill Parcells last go round in Big D.
Would Tommie Harris and Dusty Dvoracek make a great pro wrestling tag team? Never say never as the two Chicago Bears have made that comment to me on more than one occasion. Of course, the NFL comes first but what then? Stay tuned.
