Tazz and I have been on quite the tour of the Pacific Northwest. Our car trip would make a great reality TV show but with our conversations the show would need to air on premium cable. Our weekly food review is that the Seattle Airport Marriott is excellent, 13 Coins Restaurant in Seattle near the airport is awesome, and our traditional lunch stop on our Monday travel day was a hit. We stopped on I-5 about 60 miles north of Portland at a place called the 49'er Cafe.
As I write this we are a few hours from the ever challenging doubleheader Smackdown taping in the Rose Garden. 22 segments of TV all pointed toward WM25. An announcer's nightmare is to try and properly process all the info presented them and to not phone it in. I've always enjoyed challenges and broadcasting 2 SD's in one night is more daunting than calling a Wrestlemania.
If we don't carry our fair share of the water tonight, no one's going to blame a cousin or for being stupid.
No Way Out played out well in Seattle before a really hot crowd. We only had the one match but felt compelled to kick the show off with a bang. Thanks to the SD wrestlers, I think we were able to do that. This Elimination Chamber bout had many "moments." The closing sequence between old schooler's HHH & the Undertaker was especially memorable.
NWO certainly seemed to deliver and provide the fans their money's worth.
Raw was an intriguing show to watch. I viewed it in my hotel room and was able to absorb the volume of talk on the show just fine. Much of the verbiage was spot on.
Cena/Edge/Vickie to start Raw covered a lot of ground and set the stage for things to come.
Piper/Jericho was a compelling segment. Piper spoke from his heart representing how he really feels, in my view, and the promo struck home. Jericho has been awesome in his current role.
HBK regained his smile and threw his hat into the ring to see who faces Taker @ 'Mania along w/ JBL. I expect this matter to become more involved between now and April 5.
Whoever faces Taker at WM25, will still be the underdog.
There are 7 SD broadcasts until Houston.
Loved the Funk's going into the WWE HOF. Fans should really focus on Dory and Terry's complete body of work as it relates to the often used term of "Hardcore" which seems overused and watered down. The Funk's were amazing wrestlers in an era completely unlike today's wrestling scene. Having seen them both in person I can honestly say that in their prime that they would be headlining WWE PPV's today without question. I'll have more on these special brothers later this week. Dusty Rhodes, who will no doubt provide a colorful introduction, battled both his Texas brethren in some classic battles. This presentation should be one of the highlights of the HOF, time permitting.
BTW did any one else think that Rey Mysterio and Mike Knox both came out of their match for the better? Loved this presentation.
The end of Raw was perfect. There was nothing I could have said to make the closing minutes better. Loved the drama. It will be interesting TV to see how SD's HHH will respond to this compelling and personal matter. Personal issues are what built this business and the HHH-Orton matter is damn sure personal.
Check out the new offers in our store that we have just launched.
See you later in the week. Thanks.

Patience is the key to discipline
Hey J.R
Have to say i am really starting to look forwrd to WRESTLEMAINA 25 i was bit worried there wouldnt be anything to really stand out. i think its awesome scsa is being inducted to the hall of fame, I don't know why people always get there hopes up in thinking Austin or Rock will return to wrestling i know its sad but we need to move on these two where everybodys favs but they moved on so should we. concentrating on the guys who are busting there asses today, these two have not wrestle for years now they're not gunna show up out of the blue for a match. I assume austin heart would be in it but he is too smart to come back based on the fact he is so banged up and his pirorities have changed do you agree with me Mr Ross
You're right indeed JR! The end of RAW was perfect! I really enjoyed both No Way Out, especially the SD Elimination Chamber, and Raw! Great shows!
could Mike Knox actually win a match at some point? I love what Rey has been doing the past few weeks, but at some point Knox has to be seeen as a credible opponent, not just a "monster"
So an out of shape middle aged non-wrestler Shane McMahon single handedly whooping Orton, Dibiase and Rhodes is a good thing?
Shane McMahon had Orton beat on Raw - how absurd was that? He had Orton set-up for the Van Terminator and was moments from hitting it, and would have hit it if there was no outside interference because even as Dibiase and Rhodes were fighting with Shane, Orton was still lying prone in the corner.
The way Shane was booked to look so strong in the angle has been nothing short of ridiculous. Couldn't the same story have been told with the scrappy Shane taking a licking, showing heart, but ultimately getting soundly defeated? Wouldn't that have made more sense - that Shane had bitten off more than he could chew and was out gunned and in danger as reason why HHH finally outed himself as Stephanie's husband?
I mean if The Legacy had more than their hands full with Super Shane, well they're going to get run over by HHH.
And why is Stephanie taking a RKO so much more insideous than the numerous Stone Cold Stunners she's taken over the years?

Jim,
Derek from Saskatchewan here. Love the site. Friday, MARCH 13 marks the 500th episode of Smackdown, and I'm just curious if you've heard any rumblings of a potential network special or something? I just feel that this milestone needs to be celebrated because even though RAW is looked at as the flagship show, Smackdown has produced it's own share of WWE history.
I'm really starting to get excited about wrestlemania!
Orton,Jericho,Edge and Jeff Hardy are all on the top of their game right now and the real life issues between Triple H and Randy Orton will make their mania match very intense to say the least!
And maybe, just maybe we might see Austin vs Jericho too!
Fingers crossed!
I couldn't agree more with the above commenter. Each respective creative group of the WWE has taken their game to a whole higher level lately, the likes of which hasn't been witnessed since the Attitude Era. This Monday Night Raw's Randy Orton and Triple H story told through body language provoked more emotion than any mangled words could annunciate. The Piper and Jericho promo was a brilliant conveyance of Old School respect, honor, and dignity versus an arrogant, irresponsible, and uncompassionate New Breed. I'm also glad to see that HBK got his "Smile" back and is ready to go head to head with the Deadman at WrestleMania XXV. The match between Rey "Never Ever Die" Mysterio and Mike "I'm Going to Bully and Beat You Down" Knox was an incredible portrayal and altheltic perfomance between the two, which has catapulted their characters, as well as their fued, to a whole higher level. Overall, WWE is starting to get its act together on all fronts, just in time for "The Granddaddy of Them All"! I'm definately gonna be ordering Mania along with some JR's BarBQ Sauce come this April. Boomer Sooner!!!!!!!!!
JR,
I have really been impressed with the product WWE is putting out so far in 2009. From the amazing opening minutes in the Royal Rumble with the first few guys going all out, to a remarkable followup PPV with No Way Out, the WWE seems to be kicked in to high gear this year. I have not been this excited about wrestling in a while now and with the way guys like Orton, Jericho, Cena, Hardy (both) have stepped up there is not doubt in my mind that this is going to be one of the best years in a while for the E.
I agree with you that although there was a lot of promo time given to this week's Raw, it was more than well worth it. Jericho is supplanting his status as a future HOF'er and Piper was absolutely riveting. Edge was a great addition along with Vickie, who really does a fine job getting the crowd to hate her.
I know you are not involved with the creative end of the business or talent relations anymore, but I was hoping I could get your opinion as to what you think it is that has propelled WWE programming to new levels in the past two months. I mean we basically have the same talent appearing but it seems like they have all taken it to a new level and have this new found energy to be the best. After this past Monday my friend and I could not decide who we thought was the better heel: Orton, Edge or Jericho. They are all at a level not seen for a long time.
I am so excited about the rest of 2009 for the WWE and cannot wait for what is shaping up to look like an all-time great Wrestlemania!!!
