Tuesday Blog..RAW Thoughts..McMahon/Hornswoggle..Ziggler..JR's Biz Exploding at WWEShop.com

Great day in Oklahoma, bright sunshine, weather in the 80's and the OKC Thunder begin their NBA Championship series with the Miami Heat tonight. WWEShop is still offering 25% off JR's products at http://www/wweshop.com/Category/JimRoss. Let's start the grill....

Random Thoughts on things hither and yon:

Three hour TV shows are daunting and must be approached with extensive, long term planning and preparation. I enjoyed many elements of Monday Night Raw but watching ANY TV show for three hours isn't easy for me.

Hopefully, three hour Monday Night Raw's will provide more multiple segment wrestling matches and not more talk. Yep, old school guy here...I like the wrestling, drama, athleticism, and personal issues better than most talk.

Don't get me wrong, a focused, passionate, entertaining in ring promo that engages the live audience and takes us fans on a ride and closer to the talent's intended destination is still money. Unfortunately, an adlibbed, spontaneous promo is becoming a lost art.

Huge night for AJ who I thought was one of the standouts of the night in Hartford. Her TV persona is one of the more intriguing ones on WWE programming and AJ, for my money, is the most interesting female in WWE at this time.

@HeelZiggler aka Dolph Ziggler had a significant night. Opportunity knocks for Ziggler and I hope that he capitalizes on it. I've long been an advocate of Ziggler's and have felt that he's deserving of main event opportunities. I hope Ziggler and Sheamus, another one of my favorites, blow the PPV up on Sunday. That's how you don't get put on ignore...steal the show.

It's all about maximizing those minutes and seizing the moment when opportunity knocks.

Ziggler and Christian had a helluva outing in the waning moments of the Fatal Fourway. @Christian4Peeps is vastly underrated by some who aren't as smart as they perceive that they actually are.

Loved the return of Vader on Raw. Leon White aka Vader has lost a bunch of weight after getting north or the 400 pound mark and looked to be 330ish the last time that I saw him which was down in Tampa a few weeks ago. Vader's son is 'Jake Carter' who is one half of the Florida Tag Team Champions along with Cory Graves.

For those asking I have no idea if Vader's appearance is a one off or if he will be back occasionally. I can't see him in full time but, again, I don't know.

Big Show showed amazing restraint listening to John Cena verbally brow beat the World's Largest Athlete before physicality broke out. I'd expect that the newly minted, giant sized villain will be particularly impressive come No Way Out Sunday on PPV.

'Jim Ross' Trending on Twitter during Raw was a surprise. The Hornswoggle/Mr. McMahon skit impersonating yours truly must have struck a nerve with some folks. The Boss and 'Swoggle made for a comedic pair. Sell 'da Sauce!

By the way, you can follow me on Twitter @JRsBBQ.

This just in....several items of JR's products are currently out of stock at WWEShop due to the heavy increase in sales/orders. Fresh inventory is in route and it will be business as usual in a mere matter of days. Order yours at http://www.wweshop.com/Category/JimRoss. I apologize for any inconvenience as there is no excuse for running out of inventory this time of the year, or anytime for that matter, including it being Father's Day upcoming.

The 1000 episode of Raw is Monday July 23 in St. Louis and I'd expect that the fans in attendance and watching at home will enjoy many nostalgic and surprising moments. I'm asked daily if I'm going to be there and I can only answer that if invited that I will certainly attend. My best days in WWE were sitting at ringside for Monday Night Raw during some of the most challenging and crucial times WWE ever experienced. Loved those days and consider them the best days of my career...so far. I'm only hoping that the fans in St. Louis pack the place.

The FCW tryout camp last week was really a positive experience for me and I'm anxious to see who out of that group of 20 something athletes got offers. I saw a handful of individuals who I think just might have something special. No one can say for sure until each athlete begins training.

Looking forward to heading to Orlando this week for the NXT taping at Full Sail University on Thursday evening. I expect a faster paced, more audience friendly taping with some great action Thursday night. I love the atmosphere there and the passion that the talents bring to Full Sail as the rebranding of NXT continues. If you can join us, I think that you will have a great time.

Wish my pal John Layfield aka JBL @jclayfield the very best of luck in his mountain climbing challenge that starts in a matter of days in Russia. John and I have often talked about how we 'think' that we would have kicked ass had we ever worked regularly together at the announce table. John's work with at risk kids in Bermuda is heartwarming. JBL is a guy who reinvented himself multiple times in WWE and his athletic competitive spirit pushed him to become one of the best performers ever in WWE. A true success story and one of my luckiest hires. When one hires highly motivated, extroverted, talented jocks, often times the results are favorable for all involved.

Off topic...but steel cage matches were one can win via escaping the cage is akin to calling grilling "BBQ'ing." It's somewhat close but not actually the real deal....in one guy's opinion.

I thought that @JerryLawler and @MichaelCole both had solid nights at the announce table on Raw in Hartford. Folks don't realize how hard it is to navigate a live, three hour TV show with commercials. Better them than me unless there was a porta potty nearby.

King's Domino's Pizza was delivered backstage last night and apparently @wwejoshmathews ate it. Josh is a big JR's Beef Jerky fan. The Domino's thing is more good product placement by WWE. Smart marketing by Domino's.

Wife Jan made some badass, egg salad a day or so ago using JR's All Purpose Seasoning and Main Event Mustard. Couldn't sit still and eat it. Last night it was grilled Salmon with a JR's Original BBQ Sauce glaze.

Q&A's are updated on this website that is the best kept secret on the internet.

Getting ready to do some more writing for WWE.com. I kid them but good luck in finding my passages on the Classics section. Seriously, I enjoy writing missives for WWE.com.

Thanks for stopping by.

Way to go Thunder!! 3 more games...

I'm sure i'm gonna get verbally beaten and bashed for this. First, let me say that I've been a big fan of J.R.'s since 1984, when i first discovered Mid-South wrestling. By 1986, I was a regular every Sunday night at the Tulsa Convention Center, and Jim Ross was officially the world's greatest play by play man, in my eyes.

But Jim is either not the man I thought he was, or he has changed dramatically. It's one thing to be unjustly fired by a company on a number of occasions; I can understand why he kept coming back, at first. As JR has said numerous times, he loved doing commentary with the King on Raw, and PPV's. And the money, I'm sure, was a lure as well.

As I stated, that's one thing; it's another to shelve your pride, wreck your integrity, credibility, and reputation, AND let down all of the fans that defended you through thick and thin for the last nearly 30 years. It's VERY hard to believe that Mr. Ross, a disciple of the Cowboy Bill Watts school of pro wrestling, actually enjoys anything about the garbage that's been broadcast on WWE TV the last few years. It's even harder to believe that 'Good ol' JR', as Vince demanded he be nicknamed, is ok with the Brock Lesnar-John Cena creative debacle. For a short time, WWE teased a return to physical, somewhat more believable action and storylines. But as usual, it was a tease.

Again, I see that Ross publicly dismisses the thought that he'd harbor any ill will toward Vince McMahon, this time for McMahon's disgusting, hate-filled "impression" of Ross on the previous RAW. (I don't watch WWE programming, but was told about this particular bit by a friend who still does; I saw it on YouTube and was sickened.)

Now I'm sure that were Mr Ross to respond to this letter, he'd laugh it off as just an exaggerated opinion from another older, disgruntled fan. He'd make a joke about how i should learn to control my blood pressure, and say something to the effect of: If JR isn't upset, why am I?

I believe many of Ross' reactions to fans angry at WWE for various reasons are completely manufactured, and written publicly with the almighty dollar being the bottom line. Yes, as much as I've greatly enjoyed Jim Ross' work over the years, and respected him to the Nth degree, I believe he's permanently placed his integrity in the ol' circular file. Was it when he was fired in 2005 (or thereabouts), and seranaded on Raw by Vince as "Dr. Hiney"? (If anybody over the age of 6 ever found that, or anything McMahon has reportedly guffawed at over the years, the least bit amusing, i've yet to meet them). Maybe it was this last unjust axing, after "swerving" Ross live on a Raw draft episode and shuffling him off to Smackdown, then rubbing it in with a pink slip soon after.

Let's face it, for a company that supposedly supports "anti-bullying", WWE, and especially it's owner, love nothing more than to bully around many of it's longtime employees. The people who seem to get the most abuse from the boss are those that allow themselves to be mocked, fired, pushed around, etc...and come back for more. After all, what do Ross and Howard Finkel have in common? They're both the very best at what they do in the business; despite it not mattering one iota, they both have a physical appearance that Vince McMahon thinks is improper, even offensive, for his programs; and they've both been the butt of mean-spirited 'jokes' for years, yet always seem to respond with a "Thank you sir, may I have another?".

I certainly don't expect Mr Ross to lose any sleep over my personal loss of respect for him. I just hope and pray that when and if he finally writes his auto-biography, he'll no longer be under the employ of WWE. Maybe then Ross will regain his true feelings, his integrity...and his backbone.

Damnit! I have had egg-salad on the brain for a while, now, and you're only making things worse. Think your wife could make me some (lol)?

I noticed the ringside doctor giving the legit injury signal (crossed arms) at the end of the last promo.

Did big show miss his aim and knock vince out for real or was something else wrong?

Yep i gotta agree that AJ is the most interesting female character in WWE right now. I think she's a little too small and fragile to be a regular competitior in WWE especially against the likes of Beth Phoenix and Kharma but WWE has really done a great job in making use of her and she's been great in her current role and makes the upcoming WWE title match very interesting.

And i don't like the idea of Raw going 3 hours at all. Maybe 10 years ago after WCW and ECW went under but the roster is nowhere as deep as it was then. I find it very difficult to watch 2 hours of Raw or SD now let alone 3.

And it was cool to see Vader back on WWE tv. He's clearly not in any condition to be a regular again but i was surprised by how many fans in the audience knew who he was and the cheers he got. To me Vader is the best big man (over 400 pounds) ever in the business and should've been in the HOF for years now.

As for the Hornswaggle/Vince segment well they say imitation is the sincerist form of flarity so if it boosts BBQ product salels than why not. Good blog again.

Random Thoughts on things hither and yon:

Three hour TV shows are daunting and must be approached with extensive, long term planning and preparation. I enjoyed many elements of Monday Night Raw but watching ANY TV show for three hours isn't easy for me.

  1. Shocker. A #WWE executive pre-planning a long swan song before the Ross' card gets punched AGAIN by Vince "I Finally RID the planet of Good ol' JR" McMahon.  No need to worry about future business Ross, we're doing holograms until the nicotene rots our Kentucky guts and we are wheeled out there on the #^%#* wheelchair from the SAW series of fine government-funded filmmaking.  Ross is so worried about losing his grip to this new generation of script writers that his writing has slipped and he doesnt realize that Cirque du SH!T is playing in Dubai while Kane gets AA'd through a Ron Killings breakaway table.

Hopefully, three hour Monday Night Raw's will provide more multiple segment wrestling matches and not more talk. Yep, old school guy here...I like the wrestling, drama, athleticism, and personal issues better than most talk.

  1. 3 hour Raws no problem? McMahon doesnt subscribe to Nielsen ratings so he is bending and breaking the notion of free three-hour TV shows to usurp @DanaWhite

Huge night for AJ who I thought was one of the standouts of the night in Hartford. Her TV persona is one of the more intriguing ones on WWE programming and AJ, for my money, is the most interesting female in WWE at this time.

  1. I could be gay (!), but I sure love that A.J. Pink Converse All-Stars, she looks good when she wheres the Piper colours but you know how Lansdowne Mafia.  She certainly needs her meds and she seems to have found it with Glenn Jacobs (KANE)

  1. @HeelZiggler deserves a go, in this very ring... With Kane. Promo skills are lacking according to the dirtsheet scrubs but I only just learned myself that a promo itself is a frickin' worked term when you think that the whole story is told by Ziggler's ring work, not a ratings segment.

It's all about maximizing those minutes and seizing the moment when opportunity knocks.

Ziggler and Christian had a helluva outing in the waning moments of the Fatal Fourway. @Christian4Peeps is vastly underrated by some who aren't as smart as they perceive that they actually are.

  1. @Christian4Peeps was buried on RAW because some old school territory beef now that @DanaWhite has a fistful of information from his time spent in servitude to @TNADixie.  You want to make this blog hot OKIE? Tweet Panda.

Loved the return of Vader on Raw. Leon White aka Vader has lost a bunch of weight after getting north or the 400 pound mark and looked to be 330ish the last time that I saw him which was down in Tampa a few weeks ago. 1. VADER was the man who really brought Yakuza and Triad B.S to stateside when McMahon decided to invest 200 years into the future to guarantee the damn company history.

Big Show showed amazing restraint listening to John Cena verbally brow beat the World's Largest Athlete before physicality broke out. I'd expect that the newly minted, giant sized villain will be particularly impressive come No Way Out Sunday on PPV.

  1. Show knocking out Republican Ron Killings was Must-See TV.

'Jim Ross' Trending on Twitter during Raw was a surprise. The Hornswoggle/Mr. McMahon skit impersonating yours truly must have struck a nerve with some folks. The Boss and 'Swoggle made for a comedic pair. Sell 'da Sauce!

  1. Totally impressed that McMonster read the stars and knew to bet on FCW @ Full Sail given that the school will hopefully produce the next century worth of television programming.  Kudos to whoever designed the Full Sail adverts in gaming media because I knew from the moment I saw the promo it was geared to interest others in producing holographic TV or whatever we are calling this next descent into #WWE hell.

Looking forward to heading to Orlando this week for the NXT taping at Full Sail University on Thursday evening. 1. People die for this business.  Konnan and Portland Wrestling prove that. Konnan is on his last legs while Scott Hall resucitates the HallsDolls but we're all still listening to what Stamford says.  If JBL dies on the mountain, I've heard gayMMA will be the number one recipient of investment from his estate.

Off topic...but steel cage matches were one can win via escaping the cage is akin to calling grilling "BBQ'ing." It's somewhat close but not actually the real deal....in one guy's opinion.

GAYMMA's @JRsBBQ REVIEW breaking news update

Okay JR, is @TheJimCornette still not back with WWE because Cornette was in business with the steroid highway between Hamilton - Satan's Choice Motorcycle Club and Cornette's Smoky Mountain Wrestling?

Dave Meltzer is the host of the NIGHT OF THE LEGENDS Knoxville SMW show and i think that's more of an example of insider news being weak on Meltzer's point.  Did Vince buy into the company at the end to protect the wrestlers from gang violence?

DH Smith told me to ask questions about the old days with respect to steroids.  I'd rather die a victim on Bruiser Bedlam's Red Scorpion - UNations puppetry.

Is this thug Bruiser Bedlam going to kill me because i turned on the Burlington connection to sign with the pros?

in reply to @tulsaderek i would just like to say that i think its a pity that you dont "respect" JR anymore because you think in some way he has allowed himself to be "bullied",  you say that you have lost respect for the man,and yet you claim to have followed his career since 1984? i cant pretend to have watched JR any sooner than 1998 when i first watched raw and saw stone cold for the first time, instantly i thought "This Austin Guy Is Cool,he wasnt what i thought a wrestler was supposed to be,everyone was calling his name while he was backstage kickin some ass , added to that was the soundtrack of JR's distinctive voice over the visual and i was hooked.

Now..fast forward to 14 years later and i come accross your comment/opinion..and i do respect everybody's opinion, but i dont have to agree with them,  you once "respected" JR but now you dont because you dont agree with the decisions he has made, yet if you really respected him in the first place i think you would still disagree with the decisions he's made ,but you would still respect him for the same reasons you did to begin with, what im saying is that JR done alot of good things in his career on screen, which made people like you "Respect" him, he hasnt UN-done anything, he hasnt turned heel or disowned his past. You claim that In your eyes he has been "Bullied" by vince..if that is the case then JR would be a victim, then why would you lose respect for a victim of bullying? ..maybe that makes you a person that JR wont miss as a fan.

BTW everytime JR gets a mention on raw (Good or bad) its an ode to how much of an impact he has made there,he does whats best for the company he says he loves, maybe it makes you uncomfortable to see vince mock JR's condition but as we all know JR's condition was never a secret on air,in fact we all followed the "story" as it happened,(at the same time as knowing it was real) so to real fans of JR and Raw,the impression the other night was just another chapter in the story of vince vs JR, also Vince has done his fair share of embarrassing things on air and let himself and his own personal issues and appearence be ridiculed in front of the world, its part of being in the WWE, you just have to look at michael cole these days to know that he has taken that "victim of the boss torch" from JR and is now playing the part brilliantly,no doubt in ten years time that Cole will be getting a comment just like the one you left JR by someone who just dosent get it,JR was mostly just a "character" on a "TV show" who obviously played his part so well that even now you cant define reality from fiction in order to maintain your level of respect for a legend. Im sure that JR's "integrity and his backbone" are still frimly intact.

I respect JR all the more for allowing his name to still be used as a character in the show that's permanently keeping his seat warm..so just sometimes he can come back and people who would have never heard of him will have some idea of why its so important that he comes back every so often while he still can so that we never forget,or lose respect, for the best play by play guy in history.PERIOD.
