Thanks for stopping by and visiting our site.

We still have several affordable packages that still feature FREE SHIPPING in the USA for your added convenience. We'll ship 'em right out and we certainly appreciate your business.

The Bret Hart content on Monday Night Raw really added to the overall viewing experience of the program. I watched the show from start to finish and I felt like it was one of the better Raw broadcasts WWE has presented in several weeks.

To say that I did not feel compelled to be sitting there at ringside with so many new developments on tap would not be truthful.

What a great video package on Bret Monday night and it was timely as many younger fans likely were not as familiar with the WWE Hall of Famer since his last appearance on WWE TV was in November of 1997 excluding his HOF, TV exposure.

Ironically, Bret will return to WWE TV from Dayton, Ohio the site of the 1993 King of the Ring that I had the opportunity to broadcast. Bret won the tourney which was my 2nd WWE PPV after debuting at WM9 in Las Vegas.

Happy to hear that Ole Anderson is out of the hosptial after being admitted for a short while for an infection in his legs, as I understand it. Ole was one of the toughest men I ever encountered in the biz and was a classic antagonist inside and outside the ring. Ole has had health issues in recent years and even though he's likely not going to put me on his Christmas card list I have great respect for him and hope that his health improves. Ole Anderson had great  ring psychology and with Gene Anderson was one of the best tag teams that I ever saw. If any human being on Earth was born to be a wrestling villain it was Ole Anderson.

With Bret Hart returning to Raw as the G.M. next week, some fans are curious as to what that does to the chance of a return in the same role for either Dwayne Johnson or Steve Austin. I don't have an answer to that question but I do feel that both men will eventually return to Raw in either the guest G.M. capacity or another role that provides them a "one off' opportunity to entertain their fans and to promote what it is that they are involved....likely their films.

We are continuing our personalized, autographed JR's Cookbook offer that sold so well during the holidays. It's still less than $20 and that includes the inscription of your choosing and FREE SHIPPING.  Check it out in our store.

John Cena was all over ESPN on Tuesday promoting his Fiesta Bowl activities in conjunction with WWE's WM26 presentation in Phoenix. O.K., Glendale. I hope John enjoys the Fiesta Bowl better than I as the last two Oklahoma trips to the desert resulted in two Sooner loses to Blise State, of which Torrie Wilson has never allowed me to forget, and to West Virginia after their then coach, Rich Rodriquez, skipped town to take the Michigan job. The stadium however is awesome and will be a magnificent site for Wrestlemania 26.

Timbaland is a major player in the music industry but he sort of came and went Monday night in Hartford. I think the festivities of the evening especially the return next week of Bret Hart made the genuis, music producer feel like he just stopped by, had a cup of coffee and hopped back into his limo.

It is regetful that my pal Mike Leach is in the eye of the storm out in Lubbock at Texas Tech. Mike is a little quirky, without question, but he has a great heart and is a funny, engaging and talented football coach. Sounds like someone's Mama and Daddy might have over reacted at their son's alleged plight. Tech saves $800K in bonus money to Mike if he is terminated with cause prior to December 31. Firing Mike Leach would be a huge mistake by the folks in Lubbock.

Since becoming ill in October, I can't begin to tell you how many doctor's appointments that I have had and how many times I have given blood for "more tests." Well, the latest tests were not stellar but once again my primary physician feels that the specialist has over reacted to some degree regarding the diagnosis. Thus far I have been "diagnosed" with MS and borderline diabetes not to mention stress issues and high blood pressure. Living with these diagnosis hasn't been  the most fun that I've had but, as the King would say, one can't grieve forever.

The good news is that I do not have MS, that my diabetes issues are reverseable with a strict diet and exercise regime of which I have immersed myself in, and that I have to do all I can to reduce unnecessary stress in my life. Sounds like Florida Gators' coach Urban Meyer, huh?

I have been on a major diet for about 6 weeks and have become a regular at the gym. I'm "over the hump" regarding my diet and exercise program and have been feeling great. I still have my "issues' with Bells palsy #3 but it's improving. The right eye problems are prevelant but I'm dealing with them. Some days are better than others. It's no hill for a stepper as my Dad used to say. Many, many other folks have it so much worse and my problems are minor, solvable and will allow me to get back in the saddle some day. When that day does come I am positive that I will be better than ever if for nothing else because I'm going to be much healthier.

In the mean time we are in the process of making some major changes that affect my stress level. They are going to be tough changes to make but are necessary for the long haul. We'll have more on these matters over the next few weeks.

Bottom line, I am hopeful that my health continues to improve and that I am able to return to ringside sooner than later.  Whether that is weekly, monthly or some other combination thereof is still to be determined but I am determined to get back in the game.

If you haven't tried our Hot, BBQ Sauce or our Chipotle Ketchup then you don't know what you're missing. Try some today. Plus, we are getting rave reviews by those that have tried our Beef Jerky. Those items are waiting for you as we speak.

My travel issues for the Sunday Bowl on New Year's Eve day have been solved and I'm flying to El Paso on Wednesday morning and returning right after the game with the OU team. The game will be on CBS Thursday and I will be on the Sooner sideline likely wearing a black hat...duh.

Boomer Sooner!

J.R.

Hey JR,

I Have some Questions for you What are the Odds of the WWE establishing there own territory system so talent could master there craft like in the good old days in the nwa I would like to see that happend down the road but with wwe's control.

Will Dr. Death Steve Williams ,Jake Roberts,Ted DiBiase, Brian Pillman and The Dynamite Kid be in the ballot for this years wwe hall of fame?

No Disrespect J.R. im a Notre Dame Fan are the sooners due for a visit at south bend or oklahoma?

JR We All Miss you dearly please get well soon no disrespect to Michael Cole but we need this generations Gordon Solie in Ringside on monday nights

sincerly,

-Vic

Dr Death was one of the most sincere men in the biz and I took many of his road stories to heart during my time in the ring. He will be missed.

On Dave Meltzer's webcast, he said that Doc was at his mother's house caring for her.  She has also been ill for some time.  Doc went into his mother's room to look in on her and see if she needed anything, and he collapsed right there in front of her bed.  911 was called and the EMT's resuscitated him twice, but the third time he didn't make it..  I hope his mother makes it through this, going in front of her had to be the last thing Doc would've wanted...

JR,

I JUST READ ABOUT THE PASSING OF YOUR FRIEND STEVE WILLIAMS AND I WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW I AM KEEPING HIM, HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN MY PRAYERS.

HERE IS A TRIBUTE FROM DAWN MARIE THAT I READ ON GERWECK THAT SHOWS HOW STEVE TOUCHED PEOPLES LIVES.

IN MEMORY OF STEVE WILLIAMS

May 14, 1960 - December 29, 2009

We always talk about the angles up in heaven, and how they are there watching and guiding us. We always look up into the sky when we talk about angles and their work. The truth is the real angles are here on earth walking amongst us. They are the ones that were placed on earth to guide us and help us through our stay. Doc was an angle of this earth and only those who he has touched can truly understand what I am about to say. Docs work here is done and now God has rewarded him with peace and eternal rest.

I did not have the pleasure of knowing him when he was an adolescent, a great football player, or an amazing wrestler. I met Doc many years later after he retired and I had left the business and started Wrestlers Rescue. I started to receive these emails and letter in my mailbox from a young lady named Melonie. She wrote to me religiously begging me to find away to help Steve receive a hands free voice box. Her mail and emails haunted me. I could not get them out of my head. One night at about 4am in the morning I was lying in bed and I couldn’t sleep. I didn’t know why but I just seemed too preoccupied to relax enough to fall off to sleep. Finally, out of nowhere it all came clear. I realized that I was supposed to do something with the letters. I can remember that night. It was just one of those nights that seemed like so many others. But today I remember it as if it were just last night. I remember texting my friend and right hand person with Wrestlers Rescue Marty “Are you awake?” He instantly answered “yes I can’t sleep”. How ironic right? I started to tell him of these letters I was receiving from Melonie and how I can’t seem to get them out of my head. I then told him I’m supposed to do something with this. I am being told do something! We continued to talk and we came up with the 1st draft to the Dr. Death Campaign. By this time it was about 7am and I knew I couldn’t call this stranger that early in the morning to tell him of the plans we had just come up with. Finally, it was late enough in the morning to call and I did. I remember this raspy voice answering and saying “hello”. I then introduced myself and told him of the foundation and what we would like to try and do to help him. Little did I know that this was going to be about how he was going to help me. As the days followed I started to learn about him. You see I had only met him once in my career and it was at an appearance in NJ. That day I walked over to him and introduced myself, handed him my card and explained briefly what the foundation was about. I believe the foundation was only a few months old at that time. He placed his thumb over his stoma and said sweetheart it was a pleasure to meet you. He followed with digging into a bag he had on the cafeteria table with the rest of his stuff and pulled out a card for me and said “Sweetheart …if ever anything I can do for you” and placed it in my hand. I then peered down at his card and it was peaceful it had this giant hand absorbing a beam of light. I never saw a card like this but it looked like a safe place to be. Again, not knowing this man was going to be carrying me in his giant hand and showing me the light one day.

I started to call wrestlers from his era and started to inform them who I was and what Wrestlers Rescue was trying to do for their friend and fellow worker. By the time I had finished my conversations, I had realized they all had a common thread. They all gushed about what a great man he was, what a tremendous worker he was, how respected he was, how people looked up to him and were so proud of him on how he faced Cancer and won. I used the word faced because I feel after talking to those people CANCER didn’t have a fighting chance. By the end of the month and hearing multiple stories that all sounded like the first I had to called Steve right away. I remember I was driving down the highway in my car and I called.

I started our conversation by telling him, “Doc…. I have never ever heard so many nice stories about one human being in my entire life or about anyone in this crazy business of ours”. I said “usually you bring up someone’s name and you either get a great story or you get there ok”. Of Which the OK means they don’t care for you and would probably say worst if the wrestling world wasn’t so political. I proceeded to tell him how much everyone loved him and that people just gushed over him whenever his name came up and that I felt like I have known him for years. I also told him “I feel like I was right there with you throughout your career I have heard so much”. He was so happy he even began to cry a bit. He was so overwhelmed that people felt that way about him. I think it was so overwhelming to him because he never thought what he did or how he interacted with people was anything special. He was just himself without motive; no reason other than he was a genuine person and human being. He treated others better than he probably expected other to treat him. I am so happy I took the time to tell him that day because he was such a humble person I don’t think he would have realized how so many people loved him, respected him and looked up to him. Through this period of time I spent with Steve I learned to love the business again. He showed me why I started in the first place. He gave me my business back. This business is usually only given to someone once if they are lucky enough. This is when we are learning and striving to become someone great. The veterans of the business chose you and take their time to give you there knowledge to help you achieve what is in your heart. The first time I was given this business it was from Jimmy Snuka. He took the time to teach me his love for his business. Somewhere along the way I got lost and lost it. Through working with Doc I found that love for the business and the people in it again.

Recently, God directed him back to me to teach me my final lesson. He had an appearance here in NJ again, where I live and that I also happened to be appearing on. This was only the second appearance in my career we ever crossed paths. The first was where we met and the second was our good-bye. I just didn’t know it yet. We made plans to spend some time together while he was here. We talked about him coming to my home and meeting my children. But as usual, life got in the way and I was called off to work somewhere else immediately after the show so I had to rush off. We never did get together and he never had the chance to meet my babies or as he use to call them blessings when we talked about them in our many conversations throughout the campaign. That day came and went and with the hustle and bustle of the day I only had moments with him. Had only I known they would be my last. I feel that the last lesson I needed to learn from him was to slow down, live in the moment and enjoy your blessings! Doc, you were my angle. It is pretty ironic because you use to call me angel and never Dawn and I know in many interviews you also referred to me as that. But the truth was you were mine.…I not yours. You taught me many of life’s lessons in our too short relationship. I hope one day when my jobs here on this Earth are done, you will be one of the set of eyes there welcoming me and telling me thank you for hearing me and enjoying your life.

Such a sad day,  A young boy named Dax Locke was lost in my neck of the woods at 2 from terminal lukemia today after he defied doctors predictions of not making it to Christmas.  And then the news of Doc.  Prayers go out to the Locke family of Washington IL.  please look online for a donation to the family and to the Williams family go our fondest memories of the man they called Dr. Death.   J.R., I know you have lost a great friend and an absolute credit to the business you love and all I can say is your were fortunate to know and call him a friend and a fellow Sooner.

Many Thanks Doc.

We love and miss you Dax

We here in Shreveport send our condolences to and pray for the family of one of our favorite sons, Steve Williams.  See you on the other side.

I was very sad to hear of the passsing of Dr. Death Steve Williams. 1 of my earliest and fondest memories, and I really hope my memory serves me correctly, was when the Doc won the UWF Heavyweight Title by catching the One Man Gang in the Oklahoma Stampede powerslam. I remember a video tribute after the match with We Are The Champions by Queen playing in the background of the video. Great stuff to see as a new wrestling fan at the time! And then to team up with Terry Bam Bam Gordy as one of the baddest, and I feel one of the most underrated tag teams ever put together. (Underrated in the U.S. anyway, I know they were huge in Japan). Thanks for the wonderful, early memory of what was a new wrestling fan at the time! Doc will be sadly missed.

I gather that Steve Williams passed away - he was certainly a fighter to the end.

I'm glad to hear that you have a primary care doc that helps you have a little perspective when hearing doom & gloom from a specialist - dealing with a major illness is hard enough without having someone tell you that you're in some catastrophic situation.

It sounds like you're grabbing the bull by the horns in getting to the most healthy place you can be - right on!

Take care of yourself, JR - and have a Happy New Year!

JR I know you're out in El Paso with the team for the game tomorrow.  I hope that the OU football team finds some way to honor the memory of Steve 'Dr. Death' Williams at the game.  Of all the great athletes who have played at Oklahoma, Steve Williams I'm sure you'd agree was one of the all time greatest Sooners.  A two sport star in football and wrestling, something you just don't see anymore.

RIP

R.I.P. Dr. Death Steve Williams. He was a tremendous athlete and more importantly an outstanding human being. One of my all-time favorite matches I watched was when at the 1989 Chi-Town Rumble when he teamed with Kevin Sullivan as members of The Varsity Club against the Road Warriors. My prayers and best wishes go out to his family and friends.

JR. Hi, How are you getting along?. I hated to hear about Dr. Death Steve Williams he was a good person... His family and friend's are in our thought's and prayers... My heart goes out to his family... I hope you and the Mrs. has a Happy New Year... God Bless you and your family...

JR,

My sincerest of condolences on the loss of Steve Williams, Dr. Death.  I know how much of a friend he really was to you.

Just take comfort in the fact that he isn't in pain anymore, he's with God now.

Happy New Year from the Big Easy J.R.! Very glad to hear that you're getting over the hump on your health and that you are a "gym rat" now. One of my favorite wrestlers Dr. Death Steve Williams passed on earlier today succumbing to cancer. He will always be remembered in my heart and throughout the New Orleans area especially when he participated in the famous Superdome Extravagnazas every year. I hope the first person to meet him will be Terry Gordy and the second will be Ernie Ladd. We will keep you J.R. In our prayers as always and have a healthy, safe, and great 2010!!

BTW, I forgot to mention one minute detail in my message:

OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE!!

Hello.

I just heard about Dr. Death's passing and it couldn't be any sadder for me.

As a family member of three people who died of cancer and two that made it, I held on to all the hope in the world that Dr. Death would make it again.

Sadly he did not.

I still remember sending emails to his site when he was diagnosed the first time, telling my story and sending emails of encouragement.

Every day, he was in my prayers, and even more so recently. I held hope that he would beat this second bout of cancer just like he used to beat Vader in Japan.

But, sometimes the Lord has different plans than what we expect.

Do not think of this as a loss, but rather a gain. Your best friend is in a place where the sun shines day and night, where there is no pain, where the ring is made of clouds and he can test his wrestling skills along with the best.

I look to heaven and I smile but I also fear, because now The Miracle Violence Connection is back together and ready to terrorize and raise hell all over heaven. ;)

I for one will always treasure his matches and moments and he WILL go down in my book as one of the greatest EVER!

You better believe that tonight, KISS is going to be played "Loud" in my household.

Stay strong, JR and just remember to keep your happy memories close at hand, for they are the key to your happiness.

JR,

Sad to hear about the passing of Dr. Death today. A true legend and class act as well as a real man's man. We will miss him. Love the blogs and your honesty, hope your health improves soon!

thanks,

Joe

Hey J.R,

sad day The doctor has pass away sad day Dec -30-2009 will be forever be known as Dr.Death Day! what a guy he was so nice my thought and prayers go out to his family and friends we loss around nice guy!www.youtube.com/watch

we will miss you!

JR,

A bad job by you, to say that "someone's Momma and Daddy overreacted"  with regards to Mike Leach. I'm going to assume that you don't have all the facts about this incident, because if you did, I can't imagine you'd say something so ignorant. From where I sit, it seems like you're just taking sides with your pal and not being objective.

Pete Henderson

Hey JR,

I just heard about the passing Dr. Death Steve Williams. I don't have the words to express my feelings of loss. Doc was one of my favorites from Mid-South/UWF to Japan. Rest in peace Doc.

JR, I hope your health recovers soon! Take it easy. :)

And about Timbaland, I think it was quite obvious to everyone that he was high as a kite on Monday night. I wonder if WWE realized this right before he appeared on camera and decided it would be best to just have him do mostly backstage segments the whole night.

JR, please don't say that these coming major changes that affect your stress level, 'tough changes' mean you are going to close JR's Family Barbeque restaurant in favor of just doing mail orders and supplying grocery stores.  The people in the area love your restaurant and it is becoming an institution.  You need more restaurants not to close down the only one you have left!!

BTW, I don't know why it posted my comment four times but sorry for the inconvenience.

That is awesome to hear/read that things are looking up and that dieting and exercising are helping. I have learned as a football coach that stress leads to many problems so this time off, as much as we wish you were still on SD, may also lower the stress and blood pressure. Hope you enjoy the city of El Paso as it is a great place to be this time of year and I'll pray it does not snow like it did today so you can be back home after the game. Take Care and keep doing what you do.

Hi JR, I just read your most recent blog and am so glad to hear you don't have MS. I came down with MS a couple years ago when I was 22, and while mine is currently in a remission of sorts, I remember how bad it got; I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy, and am glad it's not something you will have to go through (though I'm sure Bell's Palsy really sucks too). Anyway, I continue to pray for your recovery and hopefully you will be back on headset entertaining your legions of fans in no time.
