With the holidays upon us, I hope that you will order ASAP to help avoid any potential shipping issues. Nonetheless we really appreciate your business and support.

Random thoughts...

Three hour TV shows with commercial breaks added in are challenging to watch no matter the genre. At least that's my take on the matter but I may have a shorter attention span than most so take that into consideration. Raw certainly had its moments last night in Corpus Christi but three hours is a long time for one to stay 'hooked."

Even with me being such a big, football fan,  if the game is out of hand it, too, can lose my attention.

I have been a fan of Dennis Miller's comedy over the years but the one rule of thumb that one always hears from comedians is to know one's audience. I'm not sure that Miller knew what to expect with his type of humor to a unique audience Monday night but there seemed to be many occasions that the fans in Corpus Christi didn't "get it." Some may even compare Miller's often panned experience on Monday Night Football to his experience on Monday Night Raw.

Miller's Raw experience will likely be one of the more unique ones of the Pittsburgh natives long career and one can assume that Miller will have some interesting and provocative things to say about hosting the Slammy Award Show in the coming days.

Miller's interaction with Mr. McMahon was "uncomfortable" to watch. But I watched.

The teasing of Bret Hart potentially hosting Raw was cool. That was the first that I had officially heard of any sort of "Hitman" return but it's always good to see Bret in any forum and one would think that the WWE HOF'er would enhance the ratings for Raw when and if Bret does make an appearance.

Could that particular appearance occur on January 4? Your guess is as good as mine.

Also, Shawn Michaels challenging the Undertaker for a match at WM26 captured my imagination. These two created magic in Houston at WM25 and the question will be asked if both future WWE HOF'ers can recreate such a moment one more time.  I will always consider being a part of the broadcast team for WM25 and being a small part of the HBK-Taker presentation as one of the greatest experiences that I've had in this business.

Is next week's Raw guest host, Johnny Damon, still going to be a New York Yankee next season? Nonetheless I do know that Damon is a friend of Tommy Dreamer's and has followed WWE for a good while.

March 2010 is going to be a packed month of PPV's. March 13 is Mayweather-Pacquiao which I still think should be held in a domed stadium. This is likely going to be the hottest boxing event in decades and will do a monster PPV number without question. UFC 111 occurs the night before Wrestlemania and will make for promotional time on the cable and satellite outlets a premium commodity. What brand gets the most media stretch on the PPV providers is going to be a huge, yet to be answered question.

Bottom line, as with all PPV events, if the attractions are strong enough,  most fans will find a way to purchase more than one PPV if they so choose. This is another case in point that competition is good for all businesses and a valid motivating factor for all entertainment and sports entities who provide programming opportunities on PPV.

Not to mention all the PPV activity in March let's also not forget about the NCAA Basketball Tournament aka March Madness which will, as always, garner its fair share of the TV audience especially males.

The Q&A section of this site has been updated as of Tuesday morning. Again, really long diatribes and multiple questions as in more than 3 are likely to be deleted. Please be succinct and I will do all I can to address new questions or comments.

Yours truly is awaiting some important, medical test results that I hope to have sometime this week.  I am of the belief that they will provide good news and refuse to believe any thing else. It goes without saying that I sincerely appreciate all the get well wishes and prayers from so many of you.

Since making many, overdue life style changes I have been feeling great the past several weeks as I await the aforementioned medical test results and the facial nerve to kick start.

With my personal health still my most important issue, I am not stressing about any contractual issues or negotiations and nothing has changed on that front or my mindset regarding such since I last addressed this matter. All my contractual issues are still in motion and being discussed.

Steve Austin will finish filming his latest film this week in Vancouver and I know Steve is looking forward to some R&R on his Texas ranch in the coming weeks. The Mrs and I hope to hook up with Steve after the holidays if schedules permit. Steve is really stoked about this soon to be finished film that has been shot largely outdoors in the mountains and woods near Vancouver.

Can you believe that some "squatter" scarfed up the rights to Jerry Lawler's website while The King was running for Mayor? King's new site is www.kingjerrylawler.com.

As I write this my bride and her sis are busy packing and shipping your orders. We've extended the personally, autographed JR's Cookbook offer so it's still up and available. This is another great gift idea that is under $20 and includes FREE SHIPPING. Our 6 Pak Challenge Packages and the 3 Paks are going great guns, too.

Be well and count your blessings.

Boomer Sooner!

I am new to your site, JR. I absolutely adore you!

I am from New Orleans and grew up watching Mid-South. I think I viewed your first appearance with Boyd at the table replacing Bill.

I just watched the "Southern Wrestling" discussion on demand. So absorbing!  These roundtables are well worth the price of WWE On Demand every month alone!

Totally agree with the panel on the "Manager's Mount Rushmore" placing Bobby in a class all his own and it was so nice to see Gary Hart and JJ get so much well-deserved kudos! I miss the old territories so much.

I would rather tune in and just listen you comment on your knowledge, experience, and anectdotes on the industry for hours than watch any current matches.

God Bless you JR!

JR I was offended, and I am sure many of your fans were, by Michael Cole's comments about you on RAW Monday night.  Cole is not a puppet and he could have not said those lines if he didn't want to do so.  After all you've done for him and his career, this is how he pays you back?  I'm sure as hell hoping this isn't the end with you and WWE because I want you to come back at 'Mania and do the Vince vs. Bret streetfight (if this is what they are doing) and UT vs. HBK 2.

Mr. Ross,

I just now had the opportunity to watch the "Legends" discussion regarding "Southern Wrestling". The closing commentary that you put out there was especially great to hear. I've had the honor of working in this business for right at 25 years on the independent level. The money may not be the greatest in the world, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I really wish that the group would have had a little more time to really talk about some of the great personalities that helped the Southern Territories. Names such as Bob Armstrong, Austin Idol, The Flame, The Tennessee Stud Ron Fuller, Mr Wrestling #2, and so many more. The show itself was great and I appreciate the insights that you and the rest of the group brought to the subject. Hopefully you and the group can revisit the subject somewhere down the road.

I hope that You, and your family, enjoy a great holiday season. From My Home.. Merry Christmas...and I pray that you have a speedy return to full health.

Hey JR.  This is my first time commenting on one of your blogs, but I frequently read them.  Hope you're doing better and can't wait for you to get back to hopefully Monday night's again.  I'm a frequent goer to your restaurant here in Norman, as I'm an OU student who loves good bbq.

I thought that RAW this week was pretty good, as compared to what it has been with the guest hosts in the past.  I hope that we'll get to see Shawn Michaels, my favorite wrestler, take on Undertaker again at WrestleMania.

I was going through my collection of great WWE dvds, such as the recent Rock dvd, The Rise and Fall of WCW, and my Bret Hart dvd and I was wondering what are your top 5 favorite matches of all time?  As I mentioned before, I go to your restaurant frequently and I used to watch the ppv's there until you stopped showing them there.  I was wondering if you guys were going to show WrestleMania there this year?

hey "Good ol JR" how your doing, hope your doing better then you were before since you had the same problem back in 1999.... Gosh is freaking cold here in shytown of course........Im a huge fan of yours and of course wwe and the whole wrestling universe for 23 years now going back since nwa merege with wcw. is there going to be another wrestlemania back in chicago anytime soon since i was at wrestlemania 22 and i have in mind ted jr vs undertaker at wrestlemania since ted sr brought in the undertaker back in 89 that would be a classic to see ted jr ending taker streak at wrestlmania but a way for taker to go out in life style and of course im a huge fan of randy orton born on the same day and about the same year also.... is it true that he's a jerk in life and do wrestlers actually smoke cigs as well too it would be awesome for you too take over the business as ceo of wwe for my ratings it should be orton vs shemaus on jan. 4 for the title since wwe going against tna for one night only and having randy winning the title again cause he's a younger talent and an awesome wrestler too. take good care of yourself and God speed

Forget boomer sooner? Uh oh J.R. Them sounds like fighting words lol. Could someone be starting to work up a potential michael cole vs. J.R. fued for your return ha ha. How bout you and cole at wrestlemania this year. On a serious note I'm glad you hear that your health is improving. My prayers stay with you my friend. For the first time in smackdowns ten year history I recently gained an network that broadcasts the show and look forward to seeing you back. Take care

I was glad to see Bob Barker be acknowleged for the excellent job he did as the RAW guest host.

#2 in my book - Mark Cuban - he seemed to have a great time.

Dennis Miler was up there with Jeremy Piven in not knowing the names of the wrestlers and/or wrestling events and his humor was not connecting much - referring to the chuckle-house is crisp when you're on a role, labored when you're not - and he wasn't last night.

Oh, well - I agree with those who are not enjoying Striker as part of the RAW announce team.  He's better with Grisham because Grisham is able to make Striker seem better.

Cole & Lawler as a duo are a decent announce team - nothing that gets me excited, but decent.

I would love to see someone with the charisma of a Paul Heyman in the announce mix, personally - Heyman was fantastic with you, JR - and he could do some great work with Lawler or with Cole, though I understand that Heyman is difficult for the head office to work with.

Raw this week was ok, but just ok.  The Slammies I've never been a fan of, the in-house awards always seemed kind of hokey to me, as far as I'm concerned if there's any kind of true awards for wrestling excellence it's the PWI Awards.  Miller, usually I love his monologues but here he looked a little stiff and out of his element.  He may or may not be a wrestling fan, I don't know, but his style didn't mesh with the wrestling world and he looked like he knew it.  As for the wrestling my personal jury is still out on Shaemus as world champ.  He's a good kid, he's got a bright future, but I'm still not convinced he was ready to carry the belt just yet.  And DX, I'm glad they won the tag titles, it's the one thing I think they were missing on their resume, but when their title run is over I think it'll be time for DeGeneration X to say adieu.  The tongue-in-cheek nostalgia run has been fun, but it's time for both men to focus more on the present, especially Triple-H.  He needs to get back to doing what he does best, being the world title dominating King of Kings.

I commented awhile back on the sauce of your's that I ordered, but I just had a chance now to try your chipotle ketchup for the first time and that stuff is off the charts. I just ate some fries with it on them and they were delicious. I highly recommend it to anyone that hasn't tried it. Hope you and your family have a merry Christmas JR, and I'll pray that your test results come back positive.

I was intially surprised by the amount of M.Cole haters, but actually don't mind him at all.  I have to say I do mind Striker; some of the things he's said offend me but that kind of thing is purely subjective. I understand he is a young guy with a lot of promise in the business so I'll give him his due for that, but that's as far as it goes since I have a right to choose.  Cole's reaction to his Slammy win was hilarous. I was surprised by Sheamus' win, actually, but thought it was interesting.

JR. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR.... Hope all is good with you and the Mrs. Thank's for keeping us up to date on Steve Austin... I am glad Steve Austin is doing good... Take care and God Bless You... Your friends from KY...

Let's hope you return for wrestlemania cause Michael cole is giving me a true headace on the commentary x_x.I live in the city of el paso tx are you going to be attending the sun bowl this year?

Glad to hear austin is enjoying his life as a movie man

JR, I enjoyed Raw although it certainly had some head-scratching moments. As usual, the matches are far too short (Smackdown is unarguably the more wrestling-oriented show and arguably the better product right now), but the Bret Hart tease and HBK-Taker WM26 bits were captivating as you stated. What did you think of Michael Cole's comments? :)

Your Health is more Imporamant Hope u Get well quick for Wrestlemania. I want u to say slobber Knocker, whipped by a goverement mule, look a carnainge, and Bussinees is about to pick up. Brett will make  a good host on Raw Brett should be a mentor to Hart Dyanstty and mentor his neice Nattlya. Stone Cold should host Raw in the future in 2010.

Glad the Rattlesnake is doing good
