Whipper Billy Watson.. Mid South Wrestling Classic.. RVD Contract Issues.. Beginning Bar-B-Q Tips… Red River Rivalry.. AD is a V

Let’s not burn any daylight and get right to some of your comments:

UGA Dawgs- I would love to see an OU-UGA home at home, but with the SEC being such a freaky college football conference – essentially from top to bottom, I don’t see the value in scheduling a team of OU’s status for Georgia. I would love to hear Larry Munson call the game on radio nonetheless. The SEC is the best conference in college football, but I am naturally partial to the Big 12 South. When the Big 12 North returns to being more of a national player, there might be a better argument but until then, the SEC is the big “dawg” in college football. The NFL Draft is proof enough, as the SEC dominated day one. When I did my radio show on WSB AM-750 in Atlanta back in the day, I followed the Georgia football coaches’ show hosted by the “Legendary Voice of the Georgia Bulldogs,” the incomparable Larry Munson, who is one of my broadcasting heroes.

“Hunker down, you guys!...I know I’m asking a lot, but hunker down one more time!” – Larry Munson calling a game.

For the record, OU has a future NFL offensive guard from Atlanta in George “Duke” Robinson.

Kev- Whipper Billy Watson was before my time, but Watson’s reputation was that he was a silky smooth in-ring talent, who was a great representative for Canada and the business in general. Watson was known as a shrewd business man and stayed popular for well over 20 years. I have never heard a single disparaging story about the former NWA Champ, which is rare in this business.

Linden- The Mid South Wrestling episode that featured the Dibiase/Flair/Murdoch incident was one of the most classic hours of TV I was ever associated with. Raw, memorable emotion came out of that 60-minute show and it put Ted DiBiase on the map, thanks to his mentor Dick Murdoch, who was one of the all-time best in-ring performers ever when he wanted to be, and the legendary Ric Flair, who was at the top of his game. Classic stuff.

NJ Man 2007- I don’t know the status of the RVD/WWE contract negotiations, as that is not my area of responsibility any longer. Personally, I think Rob should stay in the WWE and continue to build his legacy and to earn a nice living. Hopefully all involved can work out something that is a win/win for everybody. I think RVD leaving the WWE would be a mistake, but that is simply one man’s opinion.

Daniel R- A Bar-B-Q “newbie. For starters I suggest you grill chicken or burgers and with about a couple of minutes to go until they are where you want them brush on some of our Original Bar-B-Q Sauce. That’s Grilling 101. Bar-B-Q involves cooking on indirect heat with much lower heat and for much longer time. Beginners should master grilling and then graduate to smoking their “Q”. I even use our Original Sauce and add some honey to grilled salmon which is a knockout!

Hans- I agree with Steve Austin that TNA’s 6 sided ring isn’t my personal cup of tea either. I actually find this unique looking structure distracting at times.

BBD- Great observation about how I call Diva bouts and rarely use the Divas last names. I have no reason for it and did not even realize I was doing it. Perhaps my Southern upbringing motivates me to be more personal and respectful of the ladies, even though I still think that Melina is a “Jezebel.”

Derek-We look forward to having the University of North Texas visit Norman in the fall. I know your new coach is a Texas-Ex and had a great run at South Lake Carroll High School where OU’s outstanding placekicker Garrett Hartley went to school. Todd Dodge will do a great job in Denton, Stone Cold’s alma mater. Our restaurant is scheduled to open in mid-June, exact date TBD, and I hope I am there (I probably will be the night before the game) to say hello and talk football. You and your pals are more than welcome to enjoy some great food with us.

Sean- Why don’t I like corn on the cob? Because it makes me ill and I don’t know why, so I just don’t eat it. I know it is hard to believe that a red neck like me doesn’t eat corn on the cob, but that’s the way it is.

B Fleetwood- I have seen “Lipstick and Dynamite” about 4 or 5 times and love it. I think there is a market for more wrestling oriented documentaries, much like the WWE is doing now with their home video series. Many of the ladies featured in the film were wrestling when I broke in as a referee in the early 70’s, and many of them were legit tough as hell.

Riley- As best I can remember in 1997, the WWE was helping fund ECW and was doing what they could to keep ECW in business. The reason was that ECW was producing some excellent talents and no one ever has enough main event level stars, plus with the territory system going belly up, the new talent had to come from somewhere. By providing ECW stars some exposure on WWE programming, it simply helped provide the ECW wrestlers some good national exposure.

Glenn- There are a ton of NASCAR fans in the WWE locker room. There is even an annual “pool” that runs the length of their racing season. I enjoy NASCAR and have for years. I was a Dale Earnhart fan, because he had an edge and a tremendous will to win every race. I met Bill Elliott in his hometown of Dawsonville, GA years ago at the Dawsonville Pool Hall. He was a helluva nice guy. Finally, I am ecstatic that the Red River Rivalry between Oklahoma and Texas is going to remain at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas thru 2015, where it has been played since 1929. I have 4 tickets on the 50 for this game that is one of the great sports spectacles in the land. We begin tailgating in Dallas on Thursday before the Saturday game.

Speaking of college football, ABC and ESPN star announcer, Brad Nessler will be attending Backlash in Atlanta, Brad’s home town. Brad is a great friend and a huge WWE fan. Brad has even used “Slobber-Knocker” on some college football games, much to my delight.

If you have not checked out WWE 24/7 lately, I suggest that you do. I tell myself I am only going to watch an hour or so, but always end up getting hooked and watch for several hours. I really love that service.

Adrian Peterson is going to be a Minnesota Viking and will be butting heads with his former OU teammates, Tommie Harris and Dusty Dvorachek of the Chicago Bears this fall in the NFL. The Vikes got themselves a special player with a warrior like mentality, and I am not worried about AD’s injury issues that some have discussed endlessly. I spent a good 10 hours watching the draft Saturday on both ESPN and the NFL Network. The NFL Network guys really did a nice job, as did the ESPN cast of thousands lead by one of my favorites, Chris Berman, and the well connected Chris Mortenson. My friend Charles Davis represented well on his NFL Network stint. Charles lives in Orlando and will be attending Wrestlemania 24 without fail in 2008.

I can’t believe the quantity of Jerky and the Sauces we are selling. The Jerky business has exploded, for which we are truly thankful. I hope you try it. Many Jerky lovers say it is as good as they have ever had. My personal thanks to all of you who have ordered it, and have provided feedback which has been mostly positive.

Sunday and Monday end one of the most ambitious months I can remember experiencing in many moons. I would love to take a few days off, but they will have to wait as we are knee-deep in restaurant preparation and there is that little thing known as Monday Night Raw that seems to roll around every 7 days, 51 weeks a year.

Nonetheless, life is good.

Boomer Sooner!
