I escaped from L.A. and am safely back in the friendly confines of my comfort zone of Norman, Oklahoma and J.R.'s Family BBQ with the Mrs. and our cat "The Mick" .... named after Mickey Mantle for you conspiracy theorists.
Changing our TV venues from Colorado to California took a magnificent effort from all the men and women who work behind the scenes at WWE and who often don't get to many "attaboys." For me, I had to tag out of taking my granddaughters to see a performance of "The Lion King" in Oklahoma City on Sunday to fly west but they still enjoyed the show except without "Grandpa." Poor me, ala Tony Soprano, as the people that have to do the real work made the amazing sacrifices and my black hat is tipped to them. more »
It's always nice to be at home in Oklahoma especially after a few hectic days in Los Angeles. I will be able to enjoy the Oklahoma weather and friends until I leave for Birmingham, Alabama on Monday where I assume that we will record one match for WWE Superstars. I plan on riding with the King back to Memphis after the Alabama Raw as Tuesday we are recording Smackdown in the King's hometown. Let's get to what's on my mind (no jokes, please, kids.) more »
Here's hoping everyone who celebrates the Memorial Day Holiday has a safe and fun one. We are entertaining our oldest daughter's family which means the two granddaughters will be here which equates to a great day. I was going to attend a performance of the Lion King with them on Sunday afternoon but instead will be traveling to Los Angeles. Nonetheless, the Mrs will make sure, as she always does, that things go well for all while I travel to work. Saturday's update follows.... more »
BBQ'ed Random Thoughts and a few gratuitous mentions of our BBQ products available right now in our on line store. more »
It's been a busy week around the Ross Ponderosa here in Oklahoma. dodging tornadoes and selling plenty of "Q" while doing my homework for this Sunday's PPV in Chicago known as Judgment Day.
Here are a few predictions and slow, smoked random thoughts:
The Quiznos TV ads where the oven is talking to the young, male cook are spooky. Somebody might have been standing too closer to the smoker when those ads were created. more »
I have spent several hours between trips to J.R.'s Family BBQ in Norman, Oklahoma, USA updating the Q&A Section of this very website. The questions are provocative, the answers are stimulating, and the dialog is overall compelling. O.K., so I embellish, I am a wrestling announcer by trade. But wait there's more.....BILLY MAYS HERE...J.R.'s thoughts on Naitch. more »
Damn, that 3:45 am central time wake up call came early Wednesday morning. Reliable Matt Striker and I headed to the lovely Dayton Airport for our respective flights home. Today was the first time that I can recall not even being awake when we took off and not waking up until our American Airlines flight landed in Dallas a little over two hours later. Tuesday at the Nutter Center, perhaps better named the "Nuttier Center" while WWE was in town, was a helluva day and having some unpredictable events occur in a building called the Nutter Center was quite apropos. more »
Here's hoping that everyone is having a great day. The weekend is upon us and then it is back on the road for me as I leave Monday for Dayton, Ohio to prepare for another taping of Friday Night Smackdown. The smoker is fired up so let's get rolling with some BBQ'ed random thoughts..... more »
Random BBQ'ed thoughts from under the custom made, black Oklahoma hat.
This week's Friday Night Smackdown emanates from the Igloo in Pittsburgh, home of Sid "the Kid" Crosby, yes we watch hockey in Oklahoma, and it is a broadcast that continues to establish rivalries and begin to establish newly drafted competitors to the Friday night brand.
And yes, it's still a hotter show than Monday Night Raw. O.K. so I'm not overly objective about the team for which I play. Is that so wrong? Should a man not be passionate about his brand? Can I not show my feelings? Is it so wrong for a man to cry?
Lighten Up Francis. more »
