Ah, the times they are a-changing – and upon further review – for the better.
This Friday night will be my first broadcasting voyage with my new partner, Mick Foley, and I am looking forward to watching the airing of Friday Night SmackDown with great anticipation. Mick is one of my oldest friends in the biz, which as most vets will attest, is a business where a guy can count their bonafide friends on one hand – which is akin to most forms of sports and entertainment. Mick Foley is a great human being, a bestselling author, a legit Hardcore Legend and a student of the game. Not a bad combo for this Okie to deal with I assure you. (more…)
Greetings from under the black, custom made hat from WWE’s resident Okie fresh back from Utah where, surprisingly, The King did not marry three new wives or buy a hardware store. So if you had the under in the office pool, you won!
Seriously, the Salt Lake City crowd was red hot as was the 90-degree day we all enjoyed there; especially those that were wearing suits and sweating pulled pork.
This week’s Raw Superstar of the Week did not even have a match Monday night, but certainly made an impact and has Raw fans talking. The coveted award this week goes to Lance Cade, even though he was suckered into getting a barber college-like hair cut, but without question, raised his game significantly just before Raw left the air Monday night. (more…)
Greetings friends and neighbors from under the black, custom made hat from your resident Okie who is just returning to Norman, Okla., from Las Vegas after having a great time Tuesday and Wednesday visiting with so many wrestling legends and fans at the Cauliflower Alley Club’s 43rd Annual Reunion.
Raw No. 785 emanated from Oakland, Calif., and was perhaps the first-ever “sports-entertainment game show” in the history of television. Picking a Raw Superstar of the Week is challenging, but after looking at the broadcast again, it became clearer. This week’s Raw Superstars of the Week are Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels simply because their interaction was the most memorable in ring activity we have experienced on Raw in quite some time from where I was sitting. Jericho’s physicality on HBK was the most compelling moment of the night for yours truly and I am anxious to see where this extremely personal issue goes this Monday night in Salt Lake City.
What’s the over/under this Monday night that Mr. McMahon won’t have a beautiful Diva at his side as his “Vanna White” and perhaps even having the lovely lady dialing the telephone? Congratulations to all the winners of Mr. McMahon’s Million Dollar Mania and don’t forget to pay your taxes.
One can assume that we can expect to see more of Kennedy-Kennedy against the affluent Brit, Paul “Don‘t Call me Churchill” Burchill, or his sister Katie Lea. Furthermore, something tells me that Miss Burchill has Mickie James’ Women’s Title in her sights.

Greetings to all from under the custom made, black hat from WWE’s resident BBQ aficionado, whose month of June is going to be dotted with the opening of the second J.R.’s Family Bar-B-Q Restaurant, the WWE Draft, the Night of Champions pay-per-view, Monday night Raw in the Oklahoma City Ford Center and McMahon’s Million Dollar Mania. Whew.
Some lucky Monday Night Raw fans will be winning some serious cash beginning this Monday night in Oakland which is the site of the 785th edition of cable TV’s highest rated weekly series. It will be interesting to hear Mr. McMahon’s telephone calls to randomly selected Raw fans that have gone to WWE.com and registered to win the big money. For the record … these phone conversations will be recorded … if Mr. McMahon calls, you be careful what you say as your conversation just might make the Nancy Grace Show.

WE’s resident BBQ aficionado who is anxious to see what debauchery transpires this Sunday in San Diego at WWE’s latest pay-per-view attraction, One Night Stand.
It will be a night of “extreme action” and yours truly might be motivated to shriek out a “Cat fight!” during the Diva “I Quit” Match and channel the esteemed WWE.com guru and former voice of E-C-Dub, Joseph Styles.
This week, we have the rare occurrence of having co-Raw Superstars of the Week and they are both extreme – there’s that word again – opposites. (more…)
Greetings from under the custom made, black hat from the “Baron of BBQ” and from a guy who will never win “Dancing with the Stars” – as the fans who stayed with us after Monday Night Raw went off the air in Kansas City night will attest. I “heard” this footage was actually on WWE.com, but out of kindness to you I won’t link it here, so find it at your own risk. Hopefully, it is buried on this site and is harder to find than an on-camera for the Raw announce team.
This week’s Raw Superstar of the Week is Mr. Kennedy … Kennedy after defeating “former” Raw General Manager William Regal in a Loser Gets Fired Match. Kennedy has major league verbal skills (i.e. he likes to talk, not that there is any thing wrong with that) and certainly seems to have ample potential. It will be interesting to see where this significant victory takes Kennedy … Kennedy, but lest we forget that Mr. McMahon isn’t too high on the gregarious Green Bay native. Having resided on that same list for some time now, I can assure Mr. Kennedy … Kennedy that being one of The Chairman’s “endangered species” isn’t as enjoyable as eating slow, hickory smoked ribs (gratuitous plug and a clever segue if I say so myself). Greetings from under the black, custom black hat of a guy who’s been busier than a fruit merchant, with travels to Detroit and Tampa, Fla., this week before heading to Omaha, Neb., Saturday for Sunday’s Judgment Day and then taking a road trip with the King down to Kansas City, Mo., for Monday Night Raw. Plus, along the way we’ve been doing a ton of media for the upcoming June 30 Monday Night Raw in Oklahoma City. Whew!! (Yes, J.R.’s Family BBQ, www.jrsbarbq.com, gets some love too. Is that so wrong?!)
This week’s Raw Superstar of the Week is without question the guy who arguably got the biggest reaction of any WWE Superstar in Detroit Monday night, and that would be the prodigal son of North Carolina … the thrill seeker … Jeff Hardy. (more…)
Greetings from under the custom made, black hat from the state tornadoes love, Oklahoma, as we prepare to head to our last Monday Night Raw prior to Judgment Day. Gosh, that sounds somewhat ominous doesn’t it, this Monday in Detroit – the home of WrestleMania 23. Well, at least I didn’t refer to it as the “Last Supper” but it seems nowadays that WWE TV announcers never quite know for sure when they will last see catering, now do they?
This week’s Raw Superstar of the Week came down to two men, JBL or (drum roll, please) Mike Adamle. Considering that Adamle was able to sit in my chair – a seat he allegedly was hired to occupy sooner than later – for his first match on Raw (which is still WWE’s flagship broadcast for the record) and not get us cancelled was a significant accomplishment. Nonetheless, no one on Raw was more dominating or convincing than former WWE Champion JBL in his physical dissection of the son of the British Bulldog, DH (don’t call me Harry but the Canadian Bulldog is OK) Smith. (more…)
Greetings from under the black, custom-made hat from WWE’s resident BBQ-lovin’ Okie, wondering what in the hell is going on in WWE these days!
Monday night, we have the General Manager of Raw, King William Regal, physically abuse a television director, the talented veteran, Kerwin Silfies, who is then forced to pull the plug on the main event – only for the WWE Title between new champ Triple H and “Age of Orton” innovator Randy Orton before the match’s conclusion. The actions by the “disrespected” King Regal have not made many people happy. (more…)
Greetings from the barbequed, Sooner State of Oklahoma as yours truly gets ready to head to Baltimore for Sunday’s Backlash and perhaps a crab cake or two. (That’s an obligatory food reference from WWE’s resident rookie restaurateur.)
This week’s selection of the Monday Night Raw Superstar of the Week is so simple that a “pet coon” or a vision impaired wrestling referee could make the right call. (more…)
