This is a very rare photo that is over 25 years old. I received this photo from Larry recently who had just received it from a friend and did not know it even existed. No one that I can ever recall in this wrestling business was hotter than the Von Erich’s were in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex in the 80s. When people talk of wrestlers that have rock star status and loyal, devout fans the Von Erich’s may be at the top of that list during their “run” in World Class. Notice how tall David was, around 6’5” or so, as he ever towered over the horse in the shot.
I can recall going to visit some family in the Dallas/Ft Worth are back in the 80's ... that would've made me about 13-14 yrs old, and MAN! theVon Erich/Freebird feud was hot!!... miss seeing them wrestle, they are a great wrestling family that was struck with such tragedy may god bless them. Also recall the likes of "killer" Tim Brooks, Tiger Conway Jr. "Cowboy" Scott Casey, Moondog mane, Bruser Brody, and Black Gordman..wow!...brings back memeories.
Jim - I just wanted to say thank you for posting this picture and for helping people like me keep the memory alive - I was lucky enough to grow up right next to the family because my mom was friends with Miss Doris and you can bet your bottom dollor that this girl was right there in the front row every weekend at the Sportatorum - it's still really hard for me to belive that Kevin is the only one left
